The all-new 2010 Kia Forte Koup has arrived to compete in the compact coupe segment and is a complete departure from its predecessor, the Spectra. One of its main challengers is the Honda Civic which has been a segment leader for quite some time. You can see that Kia has taken design cues and characteristics straight from the Civic.

I was fortunate enough to arrive back in Los Angeles for winter break just before  the end of the Los Angeles Auto Show.  The LA Auto show is a tradition for me; I can’t remember a time I’ve missed it in the last 20 years.  I used to be that obnoxious  5-year-old sitting in the cars, and now, I complain about that 5-year-old…

I went to the show with my Dad, my brother Kevin, and my friend Mike.  All 4 of us are “car guys.”  Mike’s preference is Japanese imports, my brother loves German precision, my Dad’s an old school muscle car guy who currently loves the simplicity and reliability of his 03 Grand Cherokee, and I’ve dabbled in a bit of everything.

The show this year was considerably smaller than I recall it being in years past.  Nissan/Infiniti didn’t even bother to show, surprising considering LA is such a big market for them.  Aston Martin didn’t show; but Galpin Aston Martin brought a few cars from their fleet to fill the void.  The aftermarket parts expo in Petree hall only took up half the hall; the back half being filled by a kid’s zone with power wheels cars and video games.  A majority of the displays from the manufacturers well less grandiose than in years past.  Chrysler, in particular was in a sorry state; no new concepts, the only display vehicle being the Lower 40 Wrangler that’s been shown all over the place already.   Their display floor was barren as well; only the Ram had multiple configurations shown.

Ford had the best display in my opinion.  It was flashy, multiple versions of each car (the Fiesta in particular), and the ability to test drive a few select Ford models on the streets of downtown LA.  Being a former Mustang GT owner, I took the liberty of piloting a new Mustang GT… faster than my 03, sounded great, but not enough to seduce me back into one.

As far as GM goes, I had mixed feelings about their displays.  Nothing seemed to be garnering much attention from the show-goers, other than the Camaro (which there were at least 6 of).

Arguably, my father is dead in the middle of Buick’s demographic.  He’s 59 years old, retired, and wants something comfortable and reliable.  As we walked into the Buick display, he asked me why GM hasn’t killed Buick off yet.  I told him how well they sell in China, and took him over to take a look at the new LaCrosse.  While he was impressed with the features, he said that the Buick styling was still off-putting for him.  He was however impressed with the GMC Terrain SUV as a potential replacement for his Grand Cherokee, saying he liked the styling.  GM, if you’re listening, bring out a Denali version and he might be sold.

Mike’s dad is a retired police officer, and he’s spent some time around Patrol Cars, so we talked a bit while looking at the Chevy Caprice, which will be a fleet only vehicle.  He kept saying that it’s too narrow for a cop car, and the center console ended up far too busy as a result.  I mentioned how the fancy light bar looks nice, but were I responsible for purchasing new patrol cars for a department, I’d be looking for the vehicle that I can interchange as many of my existing parts with as possible.  No wonder the Crown Vic has been popular for so long.

The Volt was barely being ogled.  Why?  Because  we’ve all seen it before.  For too long.  News flash GM: reduce the concept to production time.  You’ll capture more of the hype of a model being new that way.  I’m really curious to see how well the Volt will do.  It’s a solid concept, but costly for a Chevrolet, more expensive than the Prius, which may ultimately prevent it from being a Prius-beater.

Nobody seemed to care that the Cruze was there.  Which is a shame, because the Kia Forte, which is already on the road, was getting plenty of attention.

With the Detroit show coming quickly on the heels of LA, it’s never been known for big debuts.  Here’s hoping that GM is saving its heavy hitters for the next show.  They need them.

Attendance at the New Car Auto Shows is the largest in the past five years. Why is that happening? People are ready to look at what’s new and they are hungry to see the new product. Plus, they are coming out of their hunker down mode. Confidence in the economy is starting to build.

The projections for new car sales are 12 million new vehicles, and their are 25% fewer new car dealers around than there were when sales were at this level previously. Look for a large demand in 2010, especially the popular new models like the Ford Fiesta and the Honda Crosstour and the Kia Forte.

I spent most of yesterday afternoon doing viral promotion (in other words, sending out random emails to groups that seem like they might be interested) for the BSO’s Forte program, and it occurred to me that I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned it on the blog. I could be wrong about that, but I’m sure I’ve never delved into detail, so how about an overview?

Forte: BSO Friends Under Forty is… uh, a program for concert goers under forty. Specifically they are referred to as “young professionals” under forty, but regardless of how you think of yourself, if you’re under forty you’re in.

The program starts with ticket discounts to certain concerts, after which there’s a party. You know, food, drink specials, door prizes, hanging with BSO musicians, the usual. Much like college night, really, only you don’t have to be a student. The food, therefore, is generally pretty awesome. Just saying.

Tunelul poate fi lung, intortocheat, sucit. Tunelul e “reglementat” de forte. fiecare parte, fiecare latura a tunelului emana forte care ne atrag, care ne ancoreaza in diferite zone. Si stam in cate o zona, tinuti de fortele Tunelului atata timp cat respectiva energie ne e hrana de care credem ca suntem dependenti, de care ne creem dependenti si pe aceasta dependenta ne creem fericirea si viata. Dupa un timp ne dam seama ca vrem altceva. Mai mult sau mai putin, nu conteaza. Vrem altceva. Schimbam “meniul”. Ne desprindem de zona de comfort si fie ne agatam repede de alta, fie ne acordam sansa de a experimenta diferite “locatii” inainte de a alege de a trai o stare sau alta. Sau nu alegem. “Ratacim” intre alternative, intre forte, inaintand mai repede sau mai incet catre un capat sau altul al tunelului.

Si intr-o zi, dupa ce am obosit de trairi (pentru ca am trait tot ce tine de stari interioare razboinice, pasnice, justitiare, altruiste, egoiste, critice, de impotrivire, de obedienta, rautacioase sau bune), dupa ce renuntam la a dori sa detinem controlul, de a ne impune calea de iesire din tunel si ne debarasam de toata logica lucrurilor invatate si constientizam importanta celor traite, si spunem cu o constiinta absoluta a gestului si a cuvintelor, spunem cu abandonare totala „Doamne, faca-se voia ta!” se face lumina.

Lumina patrunde in tunel, si deodata totul se schimba. Vedem pe unde am ratacit, pe unde ne-am agatat, constientizam trairile acumulate, si incet, incet dispare si tunelul. Raman in jurul nostru sentimente, trairi, energii, si oamenii dragi.

Acesti oameni dragi par sa mai bajbaie, sa caute in continuare in tunel un mod de a trai fericirea, de a experimenta lipsa de griji. Din pacate uneori cei dragi refuza sa accepte ca solutia e simpla si la-ndemana tuturor, cred ca beatitudinea este o recompensa dupa efort, munca, chin, oboseala, ca fara a trudi nu meriti fericirea, si trag si mai tare la jug fie in speranta de ajunge in lumina, fie pentru a demonstra ca asa se face si nu altfel.

Oare cum sa-i facem sa asculte ca asa nu merge? Ca asa incearca de luni, de ani, de-o viata si nu merge?! Cum sa le explicam ca exista si ALTFEL? Si ca voia SA este ca noi toti sa ajungem la lumina? Ca voia SA nu are legatura cu auto-torturarea noastra?

Ca Divinitatea ne-a lasat sa alegem tunelul, ne-a lasat sa ne alegem fortele ispititoare pentru a ne dovedi maiestria in folosirea lor si nu de inrobirea noastra? EL ne-a lasat alegerea, ne-a lasat Liberul Arbitru, dar noi l-am indesat in fundul bagajului atunci cand am luat biletul si ne-am inceput calatoria. Atunci cand am pasit in tunel l-am recreat dupa cum am crezut ca ar trebui sa fie, pentru ca asa am auzit ca exista ar trebui sa fie. Am numit Liber Arbitru fiecare alegere, chiar daca alegerea era doar rezultatul logicii, a mintii si nu a sufletului, a originii sale Divine. N-am dat nicio valoare „liberului”, l-am subjugat regulilor create de propria minte, si mai rau, create de altii.

Liberul arbitru ne-a ghidat, dar nu l-am ascultat. L-am desfiintat cu logica, cu matematica… am indesat noi si noi chestii in bagaj care sa ne dovedeasca inutilitatea trairii interioare.

Voia SA este ca noi sa ne regasim adevarata libertate, adevaratul arbitru interior care sa ne ghideze, care sa ne arate consecintele diverselor decizii.

Cum le explicam toate astea celor dragi? Ce cuvinte sa folosim ca sa ajunga la sufletul lor?

In the skit posted here, actor Jason Sudeikis portrayed Wolf Blitzer on CNN’s “Situation Room” reporting on a news conference that Woods (played by Kenan Thompson) and his wife (played by host Blake Lively) were holding outside his home.

What happens next is truly a funny take on this sordid affair. That is what comedy is for.

The writers have actually created a skit that Kenan is funny in, and attempts to portray a different character, outside of the same one he always does.Maybe this is the beginning of funny stuff for Kenan to finally be able to do on this show.

Leave it to the comedians at SNL to bring humor to a heavy subject.  Keep up the good work guys,I enjoyed the laugh…

Noite mal dormida, cansaço, dia longo, incapacidade de pensar…

Nada disso foi capaz de impedir o sorriso verdadeiro que se esboçou em meu rosto no final da noite. Juro que tentei me conter, mas foi algo verdadeiro que tomou conta de mim. Na verdade, foi uma felicidade tão grande, forte e verdadeira que me entreguei às emoções e desencanei de todo o resto do mundo.

Não sabia se a risada era para mim ou, pior, se era de mim. Mas, juro, não liguei nem um pouco… Estava feliz demais, contemplando o momento e colhendo os louvores de minhas artimanhas românticas. Eu e os meus planos infalíveis no campo sentimental. Sempre dando um jeito de esbarrar no ser desejado ou encontrando brechas nos discursos para puxar conversar e, assim, ganhar alguns minutos no paraíso.

Tão simples! Tão fácil! Tão pouco… Ao mesmo tempo, o muito capaz de me fazer esquecer todo o cansaço, a fome, a dor de cabeça e as preocupações com os caminhos escolhidos. Cand esti mic te bati cu cei mici. Cand esti mare te bati cu cei mari. E una din regulile nescrise ale business-ului. Dar fie ca esti mic sau mare vrei sa devii si mai mare. Cresterea organica, pas cu pas, nu mai e suficienta. Si atunci faci achizitii. Pentru a-ti largi aria de distributie, pentru a-ti creste competentele, pentru a-ti mari portofoliul de produse sau in cazul gigantilor, solutiile.

Este cazul HP care a facut un anunt de preluare a altei companii americane, 3Com. Conducerile celor doua firme au batut deja palma, mai ramane ca tranzactia sa fie aprobata de actionari, lucru care se va intampla fara indoiala. Miscarea HP este normala si va permite nu doar largirea portofoliului HP de la calculatoare, servere, imprimante si servicii IT catre echipamente de retea – routere si switch-uri, dar ii va permite si atacarea cu sanse mai mari de succes a imensei piete chineze.

Largirea portofoliului HP va ascuti lupta acestuia cu Cisco, alt gigant venit din retelistica si care anul acesta a intrat in segmentul serverelor, dominat in mod traditional de HP. Intrarea fiecareia din cele doua companii pe teritoriul celeilalte arata necesitatea diversificarii surselor de venit dar mai ales confirma convergenta solutiilor si tendinta de a oferi pachetul complet de produse hardware si servicii.

Pe de alta parte China nu a fost niciodata un punct forte in business-ul HP in timp ce pentru 3Com mai mult de jumatate din venituri vin de pe piata chineza in plina dezvoltare iar canalele de distributie sunt foarte dezvoltate. Achizitia va reprezenta deci o noua fundatie pentru extinderea operatiunilor HP in China.

Interconectarea echipamentelor devine noul camp de lupta in comunicatii si IT, HP nefiind singura care cumpara. La randul ei Cisco a preluat anul acesta o firma producatoare de echipamente pentru videoconferinte iar Motorola cauta inca un cumparator pentru divizia sa de echipamente de retea pentru operatorii de telecomunicatii.

I’ve fixed the formating, ordering and missing detail errors in my resume. But then something feels so terribly wrong. There is no life to my resume. There is something missing. A solid expertise, a hands on experience and a strong passion is what I feel is missing. Just imagine the case where I have a strong passion towards webdevelopment. With all the tools used in web development like the html, css, xml, javascripting etc. that would make a website work and tick like anything. Things would be pretty smooth and simple for me. I could just state the skills and put forward some solid strong and passionate hands on experience clearly demonstrating the skills. That would be terrific. Right now my resume has no life, no direction, no focus, no energy. To be crude and cruel, it is simply dead. I need to add life to it.Ofcourse I might be ready to do any kind of job. But definitely with all the best attitude and determination I would still be no combat to a person with continued exposure in the field even without the best working style. For example if I land up in a job where I got to build a website. With all the best of attituded, killing spirits and everything how much ever effective could you be with respect to their expectations and the others out there.You definitely need some basic exposure and some built-in knowledge and skills in it already is’nt it ? I dont mind doing any kind of job. Lets look at all the jobs that I have done in the past. Let me tick one for which I qualify the most.

I am not strongly qualified in most of them. Qualified very little in some of them because of a lack of focus in interests. It is definitely true that it would be necessary to do jobs that are not anticipated, not related during your job. It is good to be ready to do any job that comes up. But there should be a primary passion, direction and focus to your intensions. In that path, you could effectively take care of all the jobs that come up in the way. But still there should be a primary area of expertise, which is your forte. All the secondary skills are quite natural and common with everybody. Without a forte all the additional skills would be like having all sets without a sequence or a life. So just spend some time in identifying your professional forte and build up a hands on project on it. Obviously the whole of the list above is a set of my secondary skills, skills that I can pick on quickly when required. But none of them qualify to be my forte.

My resume should highlit my primary but also not ignore my secondary skills. An employer would prefer to hire a person for a job A, even if his forte is job B and job A is just his secondary skill rather than a person with both the jobs as secondary skills.

In my view, a primary skill is best reflected by an up and running and demonstratable project. Therefore I choose dynamic web development to be my forte. It would help me creative expression. There are plenty of resources. There is plenty of scope. Right now I cannot mention these skills in my resume. But eventually in time I am going to do this once my hands on project is up and running. I might be doing all the jobs that come my way, but my eye is always on my forte. Ofcourse you need not know the entire ocean of information but just making a significant mark is good enough.

Summary

• There could be a lot of secondary skills, but when there is no clear and strong forte, your resume (as well as your career) is pretty much lifeless.
• Secondary skills are important too in a way, that you need to do lots of off-the-track jobs on your way but they should not be all that you could do.

A grande sacada desse anúncio, além da criatividade, está também no ponto onde foi feito. Em uma garagem. Um local onde o público – alvo está totalmente localizado, ou seja, essa mídia irá atingir somente quem interessa ao cliente.

Segundo o veterinário, Tom Zé está não corre mais risco de morte. O quadro de saúde dele continua grave, mas continua estável e dá pequenas melhoradas ao longo dos dias.

Conseguir pegar a veia dele pela segunda vez e dar soro com certeza já foi algo muito bom, principalmente porque mostra que ele está um pouco mais forte e hidratado. A brabeza dele ,que aumenta a cada hora junto com o seu grau de interação, também é bastante significativo… É a regra: quanto mais bravo para tomar os remédios, melhor ele estará. Afinal, estará reagindo!

Na parte física, ele tem feito mais xixi – isso demonstra que os rins dele estão funcionando – e, pela primeira vez desde que ficou ruim, meu pequeno cachorro conseguiu comer. Ótimo!

Agora é ter paciência e torcer para o quadro dele reverter o quanto antes. Enquanto isso, paralisei um pouco a minha vida e estou atendendo quase que 24 horas por dia, junto com minha mãe e minha irmã. Mas não tem problemas.

O importante é meu bebê ficar bem… Só isso me importa agora!
