My Skin Type:
Actually very oily, but surpressed with BHA exfoliator. Results in generally ranging from very dry to normal/dry skin. Generally dehydrated, very sensitive, and acne prone.

My Skin Tone:
Some said I have very fair, Casper-ish complexion. Frankly speaking, that’s what you see in my FOTDs, but I personally think I look (much) darker in person than in those photos. Still, yes, I’m quite fair.

Bottomline: my skintone range is lighter than MAC NC/NW15 to NC/NW20.

I have neutral cool undertone.

Packaging:
Easy to transport, hygienic tube.

Color Selection:
Rather small for a medium coverage foundation, but luckily it has a wonderful color for pale skin: Light Cream. This is the swatch from its official website.

Texture:
I read a lot of reviews stated that it’s thick out of the bottle. For me, yeah it’s a bit thick but nothing too outrageous. There’s plenty of slip so it doesn’t feel thick when I apply it.

Coverage:
Beautiful. Oh so beautiful. This has medium+ coverage that easily evens out my skin tone, giving it perfected look.

Blendability:
Good! It has sufficient slip. Very easy to apply in the morning, on top of sunscreen and primer.

Finish:
Paula claims it to be semi-matte, I find it quite true. There’s some glow, so it looks healthier than dead-matte finish.

Oil Control/Lasting Power:
Poor. This stuff is strictly for normal/dry skin. Oilier than that, skip this.

My General Review:
When I read Paula’s ‘Dont Go To Cosmetics Counter Without Me‘, the first thing that came to my mind was ‘This girl knows nothing about makeup’. Because she slammed a lot of product that I think works!

So Paula, I’m offering you an apology here. Because after I’ve tried your foundation, I think you know a thing or two about makeup

Yes ladies, this foundation is a good one. I’ve tried a lot of foundations, tinted moisturizers, BB creams. Korean, French, American. High and low. And I remain impressed when I use this.

First of all, the texture is nice. A bit thick but the blendability is good. I don’t have to rub eagerly to get it even. It only need gentle, short strokes to cover my face. And the finish? Yummy. The coverage works almost like magic eraser. The pigmentation is quite potent so a little bit does the job effectively. Result? It feels light, but definitely improves my skin. Big time! I can really tell that, since I have lots of acne scarring. With loose powder, this stuff makes my skin looks much better and even toned. Plus, since the shade is delightfully neutral, so it allows the foundation so improves my skin beautifully.

The only downside I can find is, it doesn’t work too well on my sometimes crater-like pores. It’s not as smooth as some other foundations on that area. MUFE Face/Body Liquid Foundation for example, gives smoother finish on the pores, it makes my pores look tighter.

And if you have anything more than dry skin, skip this. This stuff doesn’t have any oil controlling power. I tried it a couple of times when I have slightly oily t-zone, and it doesn’t look too good  after lunch time there. Strictly for normal/dry skin, at the maximum

What Else You Need To Know:
Yep, I’ve tried that famous MUFE HD Foundation too, and I think PC All Bases Covered gives just about the same finish on me! The coverage, the finish on the pores…But admittedly, I haven’t test both for a photo shoot. People say MUFE HD looks great in pictures.

PC ABC have SPF15, and MUFE HD doesn’t offer any SPF. But MUFE HD have (much) broader color selection. Plus MUFE HD may held up better against slight oil (still not recommended for oily skin though, I think).

Your choice!

Application:
Moisturizer first, of course. Then sunscreen, primer, and this foundation, in the morning. If I use it at night, I’ll just skip the sunscreen.

US$14.95 at PC USA, IDR265,000 in PC Indonesia. Quite a big difference, as usual, but it’s still considerably cheaper than a high end foundation. All prices exclude shipping.

Overall Rating:
4 out of 5. Great color match for pale skin, with beautiful coverage and finish. Too bad it doesn’t perform great on open pores, thus 1 lippie off.

If you have dry skin with no pore problems, looking for medium+ coverage foundation, and you can find a color match, I highly recommend you to at least ask for samples.

A foundation I wished I could love, but it seems like we are incompatible. I end up hating it, after a few tormenting encounters.

NARS beauty assistant in Selfridges was generous enough to give me 6  sachets of the sample, each 2 mls in volume to try on, claiming that this is an outstanding foundation with a breakthrough formulation.

She was spot on in finding a shade that match my skin tone precisely – Santa Fe.

So, why would I end up disliking it?

Well, NARS sheer matte has a distinctly intolerable aroma to begin with; It smells like playdough!

Despite it’s easy to spread & blend when using my finger ( with its inherent greasy, creamy texture ), it tends to streak ( zebra like, and I am not exaggerating ) whenever I try to apply it with a foundation brush ( tried & tested, reliable, excellent brush from Laura Mercier ).

The initial airbrushed, smooth & radiant finish ends up as an oil slick; smudging & caking all over my complexion, within 2 hours of application.

Regrettably, this is not my type of foundation.

A helpful trick to find out if you are a cool or warm shade of foundation is to check out your veins!

I know, its ok, there is no self harm involved, just turn the palm of your hand up and along your forearm you can see through your skin.

If the colour of your veins is greenish then you suit a warm beige tone foundation.

If the colour of your veins is bluish then you suit a cooler pink tone foundation.

This is all well and good if you stay natural but if your loving the fake tan then find a foundation to match your tan.

It was so beautiful and warm today, 69 degrees!  Everything is all nice and dried out for the rain tomorrow.  We went over to the house site and I took some better pictures of the footers.  Here they are!

I have 3 requirements for a liquid foundation.  1) It cannot make me breakout on contact.  2) I cannot look like an oil slick.  3) It has to last more than an hour beyond me walking out the door.  Seriously.  I’m not one of those girls who carries a purse full of makeup to re-apply during lunch.  Not gonna happen.
 
My all time favorite foundation was Maybelline WonderFinish but it got discontinued after Dream Matte came out.  I used Dream Matte for a while but now I use the Revlon Color Stay for oily skin.
 
It covers pretty well, although I wish it had fuller coverage because I have fairly uneven skintone.  I use the powder compact to set the foundation and it lasts almost all day.  My forehead does get a little bit oily, but it’s nothing a tissue can’t fix. 
 
This foundation is really easy to apply.  It is non-comedogenic and doesn’t cause my face to break out like other foundations do.  Although it is longer lasting, it isn’t hard to wash off at the end of the day.  I think the colors match up pretty well.  I have one shade for summer and one for winter, and they are about 2 shades apart. 
 
I used other foundations because they were cheaper.  Color Stay won’t break the bank, but it is a little more expensive.  I’m on a quest to find the 5 star foundation and a friend has recommended Clinique.  Yes, it is more expensive but I might see about getting a sample first.

When it comes to my makeup kit there is only one product that I am fanatical about when it comes to the quality: the foundation.

The foundation is the cornerstone of any great makeup.  If the foundation is horrible then the rest of the make up look will suffer.

After a long search for a good liquid foundation I finally found what I was looking for in Face Atelier’s Ultra Foundation.  This product is silicone based and glides onto the skin like butter.  To get great coverage, very little goes a long way.  The coverage is also buildable.

Face Atelier Ultra foundation proves to be effective against the elements, needing very little touch up even in hot environments.  This is a plus when working on outdoor shoots for fashion and movies.

Just realized today is the actual anniversary of when I found out about the Onion News Network, probably one of the most hilarious sites ever. They make hilarious videos about some pretty off the wall stuff, while pretending to be a news station.

I came across them on youtube when I saw a video titled “Dying child bankrupts make a wish foundation”, and I watched the video, completely oblivious to the fact that this wasn’t a real event. I showed my mother, grandmother, father, and anyone who would listen until I went to show my friends a few days later. He said “Thats from the onion news network larry”… OoOoOoOoOoOoOh, needless to say I felt a little ditsy haha. Well anyways, here is the video, and you can see why I got pretty upset about it!

CHILD BANKRUPTS MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION

My heart is officially broken. After having a great week off from work and catching up with the family on Thanksgiving, I received a somber letter from Nordstrom yesterday. The news? That my beloved Prescriptives was being discontinued in January 2010! It all makes sense now why the counter at my local mall looked like a deserted mess when I went to pick up some foundation last month. After googling the news, I realize that everyone else has known about this except for me! Where the heck have I been?

My devastation stems from the fact that I thoroughly believe that no other foundation was made better for my skin. I love that it’s light, provides great coverage without being greasy, has SPF, and doesn’t break me out. Probably the best and most important thing is that it doesn’t result in that ghastly “white-face” in pictures! True proof of its awesomeness lies in pictures taken recently of my best friend and me–she in gorgeous Chanel and me in my Virtual Matte. In person, her skin was flawless with the perfect tone. However, when we reviewed the shots we had snapped from the night, there was no denying the white sheen cast over her face. I, on the other hand, did not have this problem–and never have since discovering VM in college!

Buzz on the streets points to lack of brand positioning and marketing to the downfall of this Estee Lauder brand. With the huge lot of beauty brands owned by EL (which include MAC, Bobbi Brown, Origins), it’s a shame that not enough attention was focused on Px. With limited visibility and an unclear target demographic, it’s not hard to see why the brand struggles despite the high-quality products it offers. I, myself, admit that I don’t turn to Px for any of my beauty staples besides foundation because the company has never done a great job with advertising. Make-up artists at the counters usually multi-tasked with other brands and only came by when I waved them over to get me my foundation. I once decided I’d ask the MA for some bronzer suggestions and she had difficulty offering me advice on contouring. After stumbling to wow me with any real product recommendations, I left with nothing more to add to my bag. As mentioned last year, the brand also never really took advantage of consumer shopping seasons, such as Christmas. Alas, so many areas that could’ve been fixed to save the brand. I wonder if the “thorough analysis” was only conducted after plans had already been made for the brand’s demise. It’s a shame that the economy claims another victim.

En één van die kinderen, nu in een knalgroen schooluniform, is wel heel bijzonder. Pretty. Zo heet ze. Ze kan niet lopen en in 2008 zat ze onder de schurft, lag hele dagen op een charpoi (touwbed) en nooit, echt nooit zag je haar lachen of spelen. En nu? Nu zit ze bij ons op school, een leerling van Duniya Education. Het ging moeizaam in het begin. Ze huilde, at haar warme maaltijd niet en was bang. Klasgenootjes gingen haar (letterlijk) voeren en de onderwijzers bleven haar stimuleren. Ze kan nog niet staan, heeft haar eigen stoel op de eerste rij in de klas, krijgt fysiotherapie en: er komt een kinderrolstoel!

Ja, daar doen we het dus voor, die kerstkaarten….

I have been looking for a good foundation brush for a while. I know MACs brushes are supposed to be the best but i don’t really want to pay £24.50 for one. So i went into Superdrug to look at the GOSH make-up brushes but they didn’t have any foundation brushes left so i was just browsing around looking at make-up and saw a wall with brushes, tweezers, lashes etc. And i came across QVS, they have a really big range of brushes and for this price i thought i would try the foundation brush, because for that price, if i didn’t like it, then it wasnt money down the pan.

The packaging says that it is new, it’s professional quality, has soft nylon bristles and can be used with oil or water based make-up. For foundation application, synthetic is definitely best, natural hair brushes tend to become clogged with liquid make-up and you end up wasting product. A synthetic brush glides smoothly through, distributing product evenly.

I think it’s great! I seem to need less foundation because is spreads it all out evenly across my face and the result is flawless application. Fab value for money!

For a man who was going to be betrayed, the kind of things Jesus did at the end seemed insane. Entering on a donkey and getting praise from the lips of common folk certainly did not sit well with those in authority there. Adding insult to injury was when Jesus entered the temple courts and threw all the sellers out and overturned the tables of the money changers. These were people who managed to work their way into the temple courts through befriending the Pharisees and they charged exorbitant rates for sacrifices and money changing because they had exclusive dominion in that place and worshippers had no choice but to buy from them. Worse than all of this was that Jesus sat and taught the people who came into the temple courts about what God wanted for their lives and this shook the very foundation of the faith at that time.

It is clear from the passage above that Jesus was not going to be ‘Shooed’ away and if these temple priests wanted him out, they would have to come up with something more than accusations. The only option they had then was to make falsified charges and take his life which was certainly what Jesus came for. He came to die for sinners and to give us hope of eternity with him through his resurrection. Are you willing to put your trust in Jesus who fought the world to clarify the truth to save us? Are you willing to stand up against the powers of this world and evil to proclaim his name above every other name? Lets not be caught sleeping when he come again. Lets rise us and share the gospel with the lost sheep and help them find their shepherd, Jesus Christ.

Fields of Harvest

A big step yesterday (Wednesday); the concrete subcontractors formed and poured the footers.

Even though it has been raining on and off for the past couple of weeks we still managed to pour the concrete.  The loader had to pull out the concrete truck because it was so slick and the truck was stuck in the mud.

This is while they were in the process of pouring the concrete.  Hopefully, they will form the walls on Friday, then pour concrete on Monday.
