My time = 19:25. I had to scale back the pull ups on the 12 and 9 rep rounds as my recovery time between reps was causing the intensity of the WOD to diminish.

Notes: pretty sure I pulled every muscle in my legs during that sprint workout, particularly my left groin / adductors. Thrusters felt kind of heavy again, really need to focus on keeping weight in the heels and driving up explosively with hips. 1st round thrusters unbroken, broke pull ups one. 2nd round slowest round (relatively) again, last round was unbroken, fast. Issue may be not warming up thoroughly enough. Chris and Ashley came to the gym to workout.

Tonight I caught up with Fran the Vocalist from Argentina’s Emya. The band consists of drummer Jonatán, guitarist/vocalist Elías, Joaquín on bass, Martin , Juan on guitars and vocals as well as vocalist Francisco. Emya is a hardcore/post-hardcore band that takes influences from all different genres and blends it together to create a style that everyone can enjoy. They’ve been together since 2003 and have released 5 EP’s.

Tyler: So you guys came together in 2003 how did the band start?

F: It’s a name that represents us.

F: [Laughs] hopefully we can get down to Canada soon. If someone wants us down we’d love to go!

Pues sí. Esta edición fue la de las luchas y peleas, aunque un poco desequilibradas, todo hay que decirlo.

De primeras, el tiempo amenazaba lluvia, y hasta algún mariconcillo mandó un correo en serie con la intención aparente de confirmar cuanta gente iba, pero con la secreta esperanza de que más cagones le apoyaran y se cancelara el partido. Naturalmente  no lo consiguió, dado que aquí somos todos muy hombres (menos Almudena y alguno más que no diré…)

Así que nadie se atrevió a faltar a la cita, quedando un total de ocho ójcuros y siete blancos, aunque se empezó seis contra seis, dado que Tronchamozas no salió a tiempo, seguramente por estar “trabajándose” el ascenso, y Almudena había ido a comprar unas medias (que luego no nos enseñó, mala pécora…)

Así, el partido empezó muy competido, pero con los ójcuros tocando bien por una vez,  y adelantándose rápidamente.  Fue en estas cuando vimos el primer duelo de la noche, José Carlos que ya había triunfado en algunas cargas legales se vio enfrentado con Palas por un balón. Ah, la eterna lucha de la fuerza contra la velocidad, ¿quién ganaría este duelo?

Con ese mismo brazo, en ná más empezar, José Carlos hizo un FATALITY que riete tú...

Obviamente, Palas hizo lo único que pudo… caer con estilo y hacer un ángel en el barro.

El partido siguió hasta que una de las rodillas de Julián, sobreexigida por el esfuerzo que requiere su dueño en esta zona dijo basta, así que Fran, que ya no podía más con la camiseta negra, se sacó la camiseta blanca, que le esperaba con ansía.

Así, el partido vivió al poco su segunda lucha. La de Almudena contra los “elementos”. Primero chocó contra Fran, y a sus espaldas estaba José Carlos… vamos, la pesadilla de toda chica

Debido a la atrocidad de las auténticas imágenes, les ofrecemos esta dramatización...

Debido a sus lesiones, Julian hubo de irse, llevándose con él a Raúl, motivo por el que Hector, aún limpiándose la boca, entró a jugar. Eso obviamente,  no mejoró el juego blanco, ya que era uno más a chupar. Así que los ójcuros acabaron llevándose el partido. Hay que hacer mención honorífica a los mari… esto, a los cobardes que se fueron antes de que acabara el partido, como Andrés, José Carlos…

Ójcuros

Miguel: Probablemente su partido más desafortunado hasta la fecha. Sigue siendo zurdo cerrado, cerrado, pero al menos se llevó la victoria

Samuel: Sigue intentando justificar los millones que costó su fichaje, llegando su felonía hasta el punto de rematar balones que ya iban dentro para engordar sus estadísticas.

Almudena: Estaba jugando bien hasta que empezó a fingir que Fran (vamos, un inocente angelito) le hacía falta cada dos por tres. Sólo por eso se lleva un -2 en la calificación

El caso es que esta escena me suena de algo...

Esteban: ¡Después de tres años consiguió meter un gol desde su campo! Ahora esperemos que lo deje (aunque se le veía muy crecido al final de partido diciendo que se sentía como un tren… hasta el punto de embestir contra los topes)

Así se sentía Esteban al final del partido...

Alfonso: Sigue metiendo goles, por inverosímil que esto resulte. Además hasta pasa y todo. Este no es nuestro Alfonso que nos lo han cambiado

Javi: Entre otras cosas se irá directo al infierno por reirse del remate de panza de Fran. Aparte de eso, ha mejorado bastante el pase.

Palas: Al principio le ganó siempre la partida a José Carlos por velocidad, pero en una de estas se le ocurrió proteger el balón… Parece que está aprendiendo a correr con el balón controlado

Blancos

Elier: Protagonizó la jugada de la noche (sin hostias de por medio). De portero, retrocede, retrocede… hasta que ve los palos a su alrededor, con lo que tropieza, cae, y marca gol en propia meta. Una de las pocas chorrijugadas inéditas hasta esta semana.

José Carlos: Se nota que está un punto físico por debajo de los demás blancos (no pasó la prueba infernal de este verano a mediodia). Sin embargo, lleva las cargas hasta el límite de lo legal (que se lo digan a Palas)

Julianín: Desgraciadamente se lesionó al poco de empezar, así que no califica.

Raúl: Bien para ser su primer partido. Hasta metió un gol aprovechando la principal debilidad de Almudena (y esta vez no me refiero a Samuel)

“Garrapata” Hector: Su legendario poder de succión le impidió llegar a tiempo a la pachanga, pero cuando llegó no defraudó… El “Puto Esteban” volvió a sonar alto y claro.

Andrés: Le dio bien al balón, pero se notó que le faltaba Julián echándole la bronca por todo. Mariquita total, se fue antes de tiempo.

Carlos: El traidor “silencioso”. Ha jugado de blanco casi tantas veces como Fran pero no se ha llevado la fama de éste.

Fran: El blanco por dentro… En lo bueno, metió dos goles (a los ójcuros). En lo malo, regaló un gol a Edu (como un Carlos cualquiera), pero como contó para los blancos, igual no fue tan malo…

With all the contract signings this past week, I think something has become clear; something I don’t want to say, but I think might be true. Indeed, something I don’t like, do not want to believe, but something I might understand.  I don’t think it’s all that good for either party; but I am resigned to it.  Merida is leaving.

There is no reason for Merida not to sign his contract.  But we all know how Arsene is when it comes to contracts -he draws his line and doesn’t move.  And once Arsene states publicly the line is drawn, negotiations are over.  So whatever Merida is waiting for, it ain’t gonna happen.  I fear what’s about to ensue will only make things worse….

The problem: there is no spot for Merida in our lineup.  We have Fab, we have Nasri (don’t forget he played a similar role before coming to Arsenal), we also have Ramsey in the pipeline, just to name a few.  Arsene also has too many midfielders in the reserves.  As a result, finding a place in the starting XI has become as difficult as finding one at Barca.  Right now Merida wants to play and I don’t see a spot opening up.

The problem II: the Arsenal need a midfielder, but not Merida’s type. This hurts his chances even more.  Imagine the purchase of another midfielder, a veteran at that.  Even if the player is young, like Matuidi, they’ll be expected to step into the XI immediately.  This pushes Merida farther down the pecking order.  And when you don’t fit the need of the team, you’re expendable.  The caveat of course is that Merida is still developing and has so much potential who knows what he can be…but until that time comes…

So why play Merida?  Besides his wonderful talent.  I don’t mean to sound harsh, it’s just a question of minutes.  Seriously, why play Merida if he’s only going to leave?  Why continue to blood the young man when others need the time and have signed contracts?  Why sacrifice Ramsey for Merida?  This is a problem that can only spiral as time goes on.  The longer Merida holds out, the less incentive Arsene has to play him; the less playing time, the more incentive for Merida to leave.   Nobody is at fault here, it just is what it is.

So what to do?  Well, Merida can sign, but that doesn’t guarantee first team ball.  Even if he does sign, would he have to demand a transfer just one year in to the contract?!  Lets be honest, Merida is carrying most of the risk here. And that’s where the negotiations come into play.  Take Song for example, he was an easy extension.  Arsenal need Song, so he had leverage.  But Arsenal was good for Song as well: starting XI, central part of the team, Arsenal make him an easy to be a member of the competitive Cameroon national side.  Rosicky knows he won’t go to a better team, but we need him for his experience; even Bendtner had a role.  But not poor Merida.

Another risk is that Merida becomes one of Arsene’s invest develop and profit projects, i.e. bought young and cheap, sold high, but still young.  If this happens, Merida loses a year of first team play, a year of experience and has less say over where he ends up since he’s locked in a contract.  But if he leaves for Atletico Madrid now, at least he can have some power about where to go.  And he’ll get to start on an atletico team that needs him.

Either way you cut it, Merida has a big decision to make.  As much as I would love to see him fight for a space at Arsenal, a space I still think he can acquire if he continues to develop, I think he’ll leave.  I really hope I’m wrong, but he might have to.

Advent aims to provide a visual seasonal treat and bring an end to the period of expectant waiting, brightening up the festive season with a unique exhibition of new ideas and visual delights.

This show will bring you work from a wave of the galleries newer artists who present an aesthetic of visually challenging work, ranging from classic figurative portraiture to the grimy and still developing genre of the street. Although this show will be far removed from the usual urban/street art crew they are both primarily associated.

Selected from each gallery is a mix of local, international and national artists from as far afield as the USA, Portugal and Swansea!

High Renaissance, Fran, ill joseph, Joshua Barber, Leanne Ellis, Motorboy, Pedro Matos, Ria Hill, Simon Riley and Tom Hine.

The period of expectant waiting and preparation will cease and commence simultaneously at 7 p.m. on Friday 4th December at the newly discovered and delightful ‘2° Degrees Gallery’, a new creative space situated in Montpelier, in the heart of Bristol’s creative quarter.

Nutrition: gonna cut out dairy (milk probably not cheese entirely) for a month, I think it will help me lean out, prevent any potential bloating or gas. need to supplement with more food though.

När photoshop CS2 som följde med arbetsdatorn började krångla något djävulskt bestämde jag mig för att installera en nyare och felfri version!  Vägen dit innebar två hinder; jag kan inte installera program tack vara avsaknaden av tillgång till administratöskonto samt att windows 7 inte riktigt vill lira med de portabla versioner som finns.
Följden blev att jag fick testa en salig mängd olika varianter, kanske sju eller åtta, innan jag äntligen hittade en som fungerade till hundra procent – dock råkade detta vara cs3 men det duger – bara det inte håller på och trilskas.

Det  är trots allt inte fel att ha ett portabelt alternativ i CS3 på 185MB som man kan köra från ett usb!
(Jag vet att det sliter väldigt mycket på usb:et men det är det värt, kostar ju inte lite mer än en hundring att köpa nytt)

Så nu är jag ett steg närmare den digitalt perfekta arbetsmiljön: IM-klient, CS3, Songbird, Spotify, Firefox, Winrar och Dropbox. Har jag missat något?

Elihú y Fran son los nominados de esta semana en Fama 3

Las nominaciones de la gala de ayer de Fama 3 fueron en parte esperadas porque han caído dos de los concursantes que menos tiempo llevan en la escuela y que tienen en común el mismo fallo: la falta de memoria coreográfica.

Se trata de Fran y Elihí, dos bboys. Pero no fueron sólo ellos los que corrieron peligro, ya que los profesores también nombraron como candidatos a la nominación a: Ilina, Sarai, Joaquín, Sandra y Virginia.

Virginia puso esa “cara” que tanto fastidia a Lola después de escuchar lo que le dijo, y es parece no salir del bucle de no hacer el trabajo tal y como le piden los profesores.

Con respecto al resto de concursantes volvimos a ver un trabajo excelente, al igual que el miércoles y personalmente destacaría, si me tengo que quedar con uno a Víctor.

Y qué mejor manera de celebrarlo que con un concierto para todos sus fans. La cita será el próximo jueves 3 de diciembre en la sala Gruta 77. Además tendrá unos precios anticrisis, ya que por sólo 6 euros podrás disfrutar de un conciertazo y de una consumición. ¿Se te ocurre algún plan mejor para la noche de un jueves?

Estábamos en el año 2002 cuando el grupo formado por Anibal Bamb, Edu Della Rossa, Diego, Perrin, Cosmos, Yazu, Koko, Brujo y Fran vio la luz en Fuerteventura, la más extensa de las Islas Canarias. Esta localización fue el nexo común para que muchas nacionalidades, desde la argentina hasta la polaca, desde la peruana hasta la galesa,  se fusionaran con la intención de hacer pasar un buen rato y de mantener un buen nivel musical.

Están residiendo en Madrid desde el año 2006, y han actuado en salas como Clamores, Caracol, Gruta 77 o Taboo. En estos 7 años de vida, los miembros de Limando el Serrucho han participado también en multitud de festivales nacionales e internacionales.

Madrid será el lugar, el 3 de diciembre será la fecha, y las 21 será la hora. Así que ya sabes. Limando el Serrucho te espera dentro de 13 días en la sala Gruta 77, situada en la calle Cuclillo número 6, esquina con Nicolás Morales (metro de Oporto).

Is Contador riding a vintage Schwinn in the Tour?

Not so fast, says Brother Fran!

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that two-time Tour de France winner Alberto Contador has signed a contract to ride Specialized bikes for the coming season.

That would now appear to be news to Contador’s brother, mechanic and financial advisor, Fran. “That’s incredible. It has nothing to do with reality. I don’t know what’s behind this leak,” he said. “It surprised me that this news made it into a lot of important media outlets without any foundation at all.”

Specialized, Trek, Colnago and Pinarello have all confirmed making bike offers to Contador. The latest rumor making the rounds has Schwinn raising the stakes even higher with a plan to supply the Spaniard with vintage 70’s yellow Schwinn Varsitys.

The famous Schwinn 10 speeds were stored in a warehouse in Mississippi and are in perfect working condition according to a source who has inspected them. “They look like they could still fly — them tires need pumping though,” said Elmer Wilkins, a former warehouse employee.

“Indeed, this proposal has been made,” said Contador’s brother. “It is a rather appealing offer. We will examine it carefully from a sporting perspective. If Alberto wins the tour again on a 35 year old bike, there will be no question who is the champion.”

Super Depor.La cenicienta que se convirtió en princesa.

Hay equipos que son muy difíciles de olvidar. El deportivo de la Coruña es uno de ellos.

Creo que es muy positivo para cualquier competición, que equipos modestos incordien a los grandes, más que nada para hacerlo más entretenido. No es lo mismo que luchen un mano a mano Barça-Madrid, a que lo hagan 4 o 5 equipos.

El Depor hizo grandes hazañas en la liga y por Europa; pero no siempre fué así.

El Depor siempre ha sido un equipo modesto luchando por ascender y mantenerse en primera división. Hasta los finales de los 80 no empezó a crecer. Casualidades o no, hubo un punto de inflexión cuando el club se convirtió en sociedad anónima. Ocurrió en la temporada 92/93.Tres años antes se había nombrado como presidente del club a Augusto César Lendoiro, consiguiendo en su primera temporada llegar a las semifinales de Copa del Rey.Nunca antes había llegado tan lejos.

En ese equipo habián jugadores que a posteriori serían importantísimos para el devenir de su historia. Como por ejemplo Fran y su hermano Jose Ramón. Aparte de Fran ysu hermano Jose  Ramón se fichó  en la siguiente termporada a Djukic, Liaño, el bulgaro Iliar Kiriakov, Lopez Recarte y Claudio Barragán entre otros,consiguiendo asi el ultimo ascenso a primera division hasta día de hoy. Pués bien, la temporada siguiente ya en primera  les toco sufrir, luchando por no bajar a segunda, quedaron penúltimos. Ganaron la promoción ante el Betis, y a partir de ese partido todo cambio.

El mundo del fútbol estaba apunto de dar la bienvenida al “SUPER DEPOR”.

La siguiente temporada esta grabada a fuego por los seguidores del Depor (92/93). El club se convirtió en S.A Deportiva, y ese año ficharon a jugadores que se convertirían en leyendas. Jugadores como Elduayen, Serna, Adolfo Aldana…pero sobre todo a Mauro Silva y Bebeto. Todos ellos dirigidos por Arsenio Iglesias.

Por primera vez en su historia el Depor empezó a pensar en grande. Consiguieron ser campeones de invierno, acabarían la temporada en tercera posición, con Liaño como portero menos goleado, y Bebeto alcanzando el trofeo pichichi, convirtiéndose así, en el máximo goleador de la temporada. El “SUPER DEPOR” hizo soñar a su afición al disputar por primera vez de competiciones europeas, algo impensable hasta ese momento. Como todos sabemos años depués se convertiría en algo normal.

A partir de ahí todo fué rodado. Aunque cuando llegó su primer subcampeonato lo perdiése en la última jornada, en el ultimo minuto,en un fatídico penalti errado de Djukic, el “SUPER DEPOR” fué el mejor de esa liga con diferencia. Incluso mejor que el Dream Team de Cruiff. El sueño de ser campeones se desvaneció. Yo nunca me olvidaré de ese momento, obviamente quería que ganara el super depor la liga, pero lamentablemente no ocurrió así.

Pero aún así, ese equipo no se desvaneció, y temporada tras temporada siguió creciendo. Dos terceros puestos, un subcampeonato, campeones de copa del rey, y campeones de la antigua Recopa de Europa. Algo impensable unos años atrás.

Hablamos de un equipo pequeño, alternando 1ª con 2ª y 2b. De ahí lo difícil de todo lo que llegó a conseguir.

Quizas hasta la temporada 96/97 se vió la mejor versión del super depor. Yo creó que después de esos magníficos años creció como club, con otra reputación, sin ser un pequeño, sino UN GRANDE.

En el 2000 ganó por primera vez la liga, y eso le sirvió para acceder y disfrutar por primera vez de la Champions League. Y que noches nos dieron!!! O nadie se acuerda de las victorias espectaculares en casa contra el Milán? Y…la copa del rey? Yo personalmente me acuerdo perfectamente, ós suena el  Centenariazo?

Quizás todo lo que llegó a ascender ese equipo le pudo pasar factura, por que aunque se mantuvo en Europa en los años siguientes, esa chispa de equipo especial empezó a difuminarse. Aún así, hasta hace pocos años, hemos podido disfrutar de ese magnífico equipo. Poniéndole las cosas difíciles a esos dos gigantes: Barça y Madrid. Algunas veces con victoria y otras con derrota, pero ese equipo, el “SUPER DEPOR” marcó una década gloriosa con jugadores magníficos. Una delicia para quien le guste el fútbol.

Aunque soy madridista, el depor me hizo sufrir más de la cuenta en algunos momentos. Yo siempre lo admiraré por lo que hizo. Fue una gesta única.

Un equipo pequeño y modesto, que llegó a alcanzar poderes inimaginables, llegaron a sentirse super heroes.

Se convirtieron en el SUPER DEPOR.
