I’ve been perusing Guys With iPhones lately (NSFW btw) and aside from some of the obvious eye candy, I’m also noticing the style of the subjects. Yes, I’m the guy that looks around the giant erection and checks out the colour of the bathroom towels or the tiling. Thought I’d share some images with my lovely readers:

I love guys in yellow and black Fred Perry polos. And those are pants have a great subtle print.

What a fantastic coat.

Look at this little Environmental Sciences major in his little vintage sweater and tight jeans. He’s smart, cracks a great joke every once in a while and turns off all the lights when he’s not home. Attention-whoring is his only flaw. *sigh*

This guy is super styling but these glasses have got to go.

Men vi gick och tittade i lite andra affärer. Som vanligt blev det ett stop på panduro och Lagerhaus. Jag hittade allt till julklappsinslagningen och är grymt nöjd med det jag hittade. Mysigt att strosa omkring i Lund. Efter ett stop på Grafitti och en bakadpotatis med tonfisk i magen så åkte vi till Nova. Älsk skulle ha nya kläder och visst kliade det i mina fingrar att köpa till mig själv men inte idag. Han hittade ett par jeans som satt så fint på honom och en Fred Perry tröja och två andra tröjor.

Sedan kollade vi lite på julpynt men jag hittade inte nått vettigt, får leta vidare. Fick i alla fall upp julstjärnorna idag och lite julgardiner. Nu sitter älsk och titta på fotboll och jag ska se om det är nått kul på tv idag.

I morgon är det jobb och nu är det inte många dagar kvar till jul wiiii!!!! Fick många dagar ledigt i jul, alla dagar som jag önskat. Kan inte bli bättre faktiskt!

With the X-factor show heating up and the final drawing ever nearer, the war of the wardrobes is on! We take a quick look at our favourite styles from the contestants so far and check out the girl’s glam-factor.

Olly Murs is undoubtedly one of the best dressed males we have seen on the show. Pulling off the cool contemporary mod/rock look with his drainpipe trousers and clean cut Fred Perry polo’s and shirts (fully fastened being a must) his cheeky chappy, Essex’s boy charm exudes through and has got the girls swooning after him.

Check shirts have been popular for the male contestants this year. Lloyd wore a striking red and black check shirt with matching tie on Saturday and a two tone plaid shirt a few weeks previous for the soundtracks show. Checks are versatile as displayed by the young welsh lad, even Jamie- who was sadly voted off last week, has been seen to tie a check shirt from the back loop of his jeans to create that ‘rock god’ look- very Guns N Roses. Whether it is preppy smart or casual rock, a check shirt should be a staple in any guy’s wardrobe and is sure to pop up again during the final weeks of X-factor.

Now our guys may be looking suave this year- minus the odd fashion faux pax flung in from Simon and his worryingly low buttoned shirt (put the chest wig away Simon) and apologies to all who are fans out there but ‘Jedward’ ain’t got the style-factor either! Seriously though, we all know it’s the girl’s outfits we want to see. Sitting anxiously on the edge of our seats every week, anticipating what the dueling judges Danni and Cheryl will be wearing. The gloves are off and the fashion Diva’s are looking better than ever. Oozing glitz and glamour we are dazzled by the array of show stopping dresses the pair walk our in each week- never mind the ever changing hair do’s. Add a touch of sparkle to your wardrobe just like Cheryl and Danni with these glittery dresses,

The boys really don’t get a look in when it comes to the girls and anyone who tries to emulate the gorgeous ladies styles will be sure to pull under the mistletoe this party season.

Bringing cool, neat, sharp aesthetics to the range, and merging American cultural style with the English iconic label. Only six limited edition style’s with the main pieces being a slim-fit Fred Perry shirt styled in a classic Stussy plaid, a re-worked tennis bomber, a heritage slim-fit, buttoned-down collar shirt and a leather and plaid Varsity jacket with tipped collar and cuffs. A realease date has been penciled in for February 2010.

The Childrenswear by AllSaints aside, this Fred Perry Children’s range is probably the best (cutest) Children’s range I’ve seen this year. It’s absolutely amazing and makes the average lady and gent overly broody indeed!

On my way to buy a new Fred Perry laptop bag (Indie prick I know) I came across a picture for an upcoming line of Fred Perry tees etc, everything was gravy till I noticed there was a huge Stussy logo on it, so I naturally was like WTF!? 0_o at which point the fine gentleman next to me explained that Fred Perry allowed Stussy to be on their blank canvas range! Now I think this stuff is badass and a nice little experiment between companies, especially Stussy the lucky Fucks!

Katsui graduated from Central Saint Martins College after studying at Parsons The New School for Design. Yagi graduated from Doshisha University and Central Saint Martins College.
The brand, mintdesigns was launched in 2001. They have been in Tokyo Collection since ‘03 S/S. The awards they won include the Moet et Chandon New Designer’s Award in 2005. In 2007, mintdesigns garage store opened in Shibuya PARCO. They presented their collection in the 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT THIS PLAY! show. In 2008, they presented the opening show at São Paulo Fashion Week for ‘09 S/S. Both designers currently hold positions as guest professors at the Faculty of Art and Design at Osaka Seikei University. In 2009 they presented their collection at the Milano Salone TOKYO FIBER ‘09.Mint Designs turned out a dainty crop of dresses featuring details such as shimmery stripes, textured fabric and quirky graphics. One frock featured a darling print of tiny Charlie Chaplins, while another showcased circular cutouts along the sides.

Last night, after being in the states for less than 24 hours, Friendly Fires played a random private party for Fred Perry at SPIN New York…and you can trust Tastes Like Caramel was there for all of the fun! It was our first time at the venue which played host to a ping pong event with the band providing the headlining entertainment.

The party was in celebration of the Fred Perry brand and Friendly Fires kicking off their winter NYLON tour Thursday night in Texas with The Xx. We had the pleasure of interviewing the band before their set for an upcoming feature on the site and were right up front for the band’s stellar 7-song set!

The boys were great both onstage and in the hotseat for our interview, adding fuel to the flames of our anticipation for the tour and the upcoming album which you can learn more about in our exclusive interview coming soon! Stay tuned!

I want to give you guys a preview of a new project I’m currently working on.  I’ll soon be launching SoulShoot Photography which will be a dedicated area of my portraiture geared to Mods & Scooterists.

During the sixties my dad (Darrell) spent a lot of his youth on the back of a Vespa (a GS160 to be exact), cruising around and getting up to no good no doubt  His love of scooters is still in him today with him currently owning two Vespas and still attending local meets and rallies.  Of course, this era wasnt just about the transport, but the clothes, the music & just the way of life and this scene is still rife today all over the world with enthusiasts, like my dad still celebrating this culture that has stood the test of time.

Where I come in is that I, like my dad have always been fascinated by this phenomenon and so wanted to play my part in this culture and celebrate it by dedicating a part of my photography to producing some nostalgic, yet contemporary images for those guys that still live the scene, capturing personalities in their own environment.

I have my first shoot booked in for the weekend, so am really looking forward to seeing what we come up with.  I look forward to putting the images up for you all to see real soon.

There’s a new emphasis on DENIM across the whole line too (about time), they’ve all been labelled up and marked, lots of the jeans come with an amazing 3D wash at the back pocket. Attention to detail, something this second line’s been missing for a long while:

It’s another Raf x Peter De Potter collaboration, worryingly that looks a bit like Pete De Doherty in the top left:

Nice pockets, fluffy jumper (bit 90s, in a good way), chinos…
