24.November:
It was time to check out more of those infamous spots in Rio, so this morning we grabbed bus no.353 to a station near Pão de Açúcar (the Sugarloaf in Portuguese). The Sugarloaf is a 396 meter tall peak situated at the mouth of Guanabara Bay on a peninsula that sticks out into the Atlantic Ocean. To get to the top, we took the teleférico – a glass paneled cable car capable of holding some 75 passengers. The original cable car line was built in 1912 and rebuilt around 1972 to its current form. The cable car runs along a 1400 meter route between the peaks of Sugarloaf and Cara de Cão every 20 minutes. This is a two part ride as the cable car goes from the base, not the peak of the Babilônia mountain, to the Urca mountain and then to the Sugarloaf mountain. The ride was unreasonably expensive in my opinion – 40 Reais (132 NOK)! Unfortunately there wasn’t really much to see at the top. Additionally, heaps of mist surrounded the mountain thus most of the view was covered up. From time to time the mist would dissolve for a brief moment or two and if you held your camera, you might a couple of shots, but it was difficult. Usually it was only a matter of seconds before the mist covered up the view once again.

teleférico Pão de Açúcar

After staying at the top for about one and a half hour we returned to the city center with a taxi. We went to a bohemian area with old buildings with a fascinating architecture lined up along the streets. After a nice lunch we happened to walk through a movie set. These guys were shooting a scene for a documentary about a Serbian soccer player, who played for the Fluminense.

bohemian area

We then walked through a little market and then through a long and narrow shopping street and I got me a handmade leather wristband and a pair of sunglasses. Marita also picked up a pair of sunglasses. As we were pretty tired of walking through the streets and it didn’t seem to be anything interesting to buy. Most of the stuff were of low quality and sold at inflated prices. We then headed back to the hostel.

A bit later we went out for dinner and found a nice little restaurant some ten minutes walking from our hotel. This place had delicious home cooked food at very reasonable prices. It was a dinner buffet really and you could just pick up anything you wanted and then they weighted your plate at the counter and you paid accordingly. After finishing up our food and as we were about to leave this old guy sitting on the table next to us grabbed a hold of me and asked me some questions. Before we knew it, we were captured in a deep conversation with this 70-ish old guy. His name was Jacob and he was very nice and friendly. Jacob told us all kinds of stories from his life. He also kept giving Marita compliments and told her that he thought she was the princess of Norway and such Jacob was originally jewish and born in Brazil (but he claimed to be from Israel). His parents were from Poland and had moved to Brazil in 1927. We chatted away about all kinds of things for about an hour. Then it was thirty minutes since the restaurant actually closed, but Jacob ate at this place everyday and knew the crew working there – no worries. It was time for me to pay, but then Jacob wanted to show that he appreciated the good company and insisted on paying for my dinner. I guess it is not so often he talks for an hour with three young people form Norway.. It was an interesting evening and we told Jacob goodbye and went back to the hostel.

If you’ve ever stood in a (military) chow line or know someone who did, you can appreciate the irony

If you’ve ever stood in a (military) chow line or know someone who did, you can appreciate the irony at The Golden Corral today at the 9th annual Military Appreciation Day as the line was literally wrapped around the building. However, the old military adage of “hurry up and wait” was anything but the case in spite of the large number of military personnel that stood chatting amongst themselves about their past and present military experiences – with all branches represented by, the young, not so young, and the old. Instead, servicemen and women inched their way swiftly to the open doors manned by High School JROTC personnel who stood proudly – in full uniform.

It was reminiscent of yester-years of being in a basic training dining hall, as they went from one food station to another in an orderly fashion, waiting as their fellow serviceman plate filled with large portions of first one dish than the next. There was an abundance of food choices more than enough to satisfy even the hungriest of appetites.

The Golden Corral is thankful for the men and women of this country who have fought to make and are still fighting to keep America free. The free dinner meal is a special “thank you tribute” to any person who has ever served in the United States Military. Rather you’re are a veteran, retired, currently serving, in the National Guard or Reserves, you were invited to join them for Golden Corral’s Military Appreciation dinner, at one of its 485 restaurants nationwide. Golden Corral restaurants have provided over 2.2 million free meals and contributed over $3.3 million to the Disabled American Veterans organization.

America’s freedom comes with a big price tag for our men and women in the military and their families as well, and to say thank you, Golden Corral has provided a free meal to veterans once a year for the past nine years. It’s come at a cost to the company, but the philosophy of the restaurant chain is that veterans deserve it and more.

On behalf of the military personnel (past & present) in my family, and there are quite a few, including me – I want to thank the Golden Corral for appreciating all military personnel – active and inactive and for continuing to say thank you, in such a considerate way.

Good Morning friends,

I join a team of volunteer who were distributing free food to the homeless people in Ahmadabad from manavparivar. They were having Khichadi with them. They found 3 kids on street and when they ask them “do you want to eat?” they were so happy that time. I think it was happiest moment to see those people smiling with the view of food for them.

As it was outside and night time the picture was not clear but I still want to capture that in camera and I take following two pics. See the smile and happiness on the faces of these kids. I think this is best way to do charity. I am glad to do such nice activity as volunteer.

I swear it was. It was a flat out all around kick ass day. Like everyone wished me a happy b-day. Wither it was a text or on facebook or even on gaia. So that was really really awesome. The day was kinda drizzly though. It was pretty much raining all day. Somehow I seemed to not care. Not to mention everyone seemed to like getting cupcakes to celebrate my b-day. Yep good day. My Ex actually talked to me too. Again I was just shocked. I was not expecting that. So as the day was winding down I knew it was getting to the time of my tattoo. I wasn’t going to get to get to eat because as soon as we closed I had to head over to the tattoo place and get it done. Well my boss being the awesome guy that he is said I’ll buy you dinner since well your working on your b-day. So I go over to Coney Island and the manager knows it’s my b-day because the guy running the card shack told her. So I got a free dinner. Well it was free either way. I gave her a cupcake in return. So everyone was looking forward to seeing the tattoo. So we get there and the artist forgets that he was suppose to sketch up some stuff. So he did that and I went through his tattoo book. Found a trail I really liked which he already included in the tattoo. Here is what the sketch he drew looked like. Nice huh? This is why I could never be a tattoo artist. I can’t draw. That and I can’t cause others pain. Well here is what that sketch looked like on my arm. Pretty sweet looking huh? Well then brace yourself. Here is what it looks like now. Well I should say after. Now it’s a little less red with less dried blood. So tada. As you can see the tattoo artist is a genius. Glad I gave him free rein with the tattoo. Way better then the one I wanted originally. We all agree mine looked better on paper then actual skin. My friend said the tattoo offically makes me more badass then everyone else. Gotta love friends. Keeping in mind that this friend tagged me on a photo as Bowser Jr. the “devious one”. Well I guess I am since I got this tattoo with the money my mom gave me. So all in all it was a great b-day. Way better then my 20th. That means squiby time. So I figured today’s video will be the opening for the Mahou Sentai Magirangers. This is another one of those collections clips. It shows different things from different sections of the seasons. Shows all the villains. Shows different love interests. So on and so forth. Keep in mind that if you watched Power Rangers Mystic force some of this should also look familiar. Hate to burst your bubble but that’s pretty much what all American Power Rangers are. They take clips from the original one and just splice in some of their own clips. Anyway enjoy. Today’s tip is we all know that tattoos are permanent, so a tattoo that says “I’M PERMANENT” would be redundant. Well have a great day peeps. See y’all next time.

Yes that’s right today is the day I turn 21. I can now legally drink and buy and watch porn in

Yes that’s right today is the day I turn 21. I can now legally drink and buy and watch porn in every state now. Even overseas as well. Honestly I can say I’m probably not going to be doing much drinking. Unlike a lot of people at my high school I was never really into drinking. I mean yes it’s nice to know that if I want to try something with alcohol I can. I mean there are times when your sitting at a restaurant and your just flipping through the menu and of course you see all these drinks that look tasty, but you can’t have them because well they are alcoholic and you’re a minor. Well now I can get them if I really want to. I’m more worried about my tattoo. Like I said my mom paid for it. Well will pay for it. A friend is going to take pictures of me getting the tattoo and a video which I’ll post on facebook. Then take pictures afterwards. From then I’ll take pictures of it as it gets better and starts actually looking like it will look. So look for those. I also got an im from my Ex which shocked me. Like I said my Ex hasn’t shown any signs of even wanting to talk to me. Anyway today is starting off pretty good. Got to see one of my favorite customers today. He always makes me laugh. We are about the same age he’s older by a few months. Granted he acts a bit more mature than me. I also swore he was way older than me. Don’t know why. My boss is also treating me to dinner. I know I have the best boss EVER! Granted like everything is happening today. The water guy is coming today and I’m expecting a lot of the products we ordered to come in as well. So today should go by pretty fast like it usually does. Honestly I feel good about today. Unlike last year when I was kinda down. Probably because a lot of my friends went out of their way to say happy b-day. And because I’m not expecting anyone to show up at a party I did specificity for my b-day. Well I better finish up to make sure I’m ready to brag about my b-day to any customer that comes in and listens. So it’s squiby time. These are the last two new ones I adopted. If you can’t figure out who they are suppose to be off their names and the look then you’ve clearly never played Kingdom Hearts 2, and seed is clearly no longer a seed, but a budding flower. So I figured today’s video would be the opening to Paranoia Agent. The opening is called Yume no Shima Shinen Kouen. No I won’t translate that. Anyway if you ever watch this anime then you should probably pay attention to this opening. Supposedly whatever is going on when the character is laughing is suppose to have some big meaning. And the order in which the characters show up before the buy with the bat swings is the order in which they all get hit. You have to see the anime to get it. Anyway today’s tip is you only turn 21 once. Unless you suffer a head injury on your b-day in which case you get to relive it over and over and over again. Needless to say everyone texted me saying don’t hit your head. Well laters people. I’m going to go do b-day stuff.

Well, this post has quite the story, but it will have to wait until I’ve covered the lame stuf

Well, this post has quite the story, but it will have to wait until I’ve covered the lame stuff.

Leisha arrived on Friday and we had a wonderful time crashing some free dinners. At the Law, Societies and Justice Program Dinner we sat next to a law professor and an art historical guide discussing their educations. One had gone to Yale and Harvard and the other went to Stanford and Harvard. WOW.

Sunday was another free day at the Vatican Museums, so Leisha and I woke up early and waited in line. This time we had a game plan. As soon as we were let in, we rushed through the museum, taking all the short cuts and got to the Sistine Chapel before it got crowded. There were about 25 people there when we arrived and over 100 when we left. I think my favorite part of the Sistine ceiling is the large figures of the prophets and sibyls. We spent an hour and a half enjoying the chapel and then we headed home and lounged all day.

Julia Roberts on set, which also happens to be my front yard.

Now what you’ve all been waiting for:
While studying Italian in our apartment, Leisha and I learned a new phrase: “Non vedo l’ora di…” It means “I can’t wait to…”. So, when Sabrina walked by, we asked her to give us an example of how to use it and she said, “I can’t wait to see Julia Roberts.” AND, I kid you not, less than five minutes later we heard the girls in the next apartment screaming, “Did you see her?” Leisha asked who and they said, “Julia Roberts!” NO JOKE. Sabrina is prophetic. As it turns out, Julia is in Rome filming scenes for her new movie based on the book Eat, Pray, Love. It just so happens that three of the scenes take place right in front of my building. The film crew blocked off the whole piazza and all of the students and office staff and I spent the better part of the day staring out of our third-floor-windows down at the top of Julia Robert’s head. She filmed one scene walking through the piazza, one eating in the Restaurant on the ground floor of my building and one dialogue scene walking past my front door. In the evening when I left to go to Federica’s house for dinner, the were still filming the last scene. When I came down to the front door, I asked a crew man if I could leave and he shushed me. I didn’t realize they were filming a scene right in front of me. So, I watched Julia Roberts complete a scene of dialogue and then the crew man said I could go. In the confusion of trying to get out, I ended up smack dab in front of Julia’s gigantic body guard. I asked him if I could get by and he moved to the side while I passed between Julia Roberts and the guard. I was within twelve inches of her! My mom is so proud. The next day Leisha and I walked through the piazza and got “souvenirs”, remnants of the fake flowers they used in the restaurant scene. Ah, what a wonderful conclusion to my first celebrity siting.

Anyway, Wednesday was quite an adventure as well. Leish and I decided to go to the British School library so that I could check out books for my research project. It started off well; we found an international grocery store and bought the ingredients for burritos, enchiladas and sushi. Success! However, the address I had for the library was wrong. Failure. But we wandered around for hours and eventually found it. Success! But when I tried to check out books, the stuffy British librarian denied me because I’m an undergraduate. Failure. But we found a bus and didn’t have to walk home. Success! But it was the wrong bus and we had to transfer. Failure. But we finally made it to the AutoGrill for lunch. Success! In our irritated, post-lunch coma we made it all the way home for some well-deserved naps before hosting a film screening for UW and RISD students. We screened Caterina va in cittá (Caterina in the Big City). It was a very cute, coming-of-age story about a girl who moves from a small Italian town to Rome, the “big city”. Kind of like me. Except that I’m not Italian. And I’m not 12.

Anyway, it’s been an exciting week now that Leisha is back. It promises to get even more exciting; I am going with the Law, Societies and Justice program on their field trip to Orvieto on Friday.

Every girl will go through a time in her life when she has to choose: eat dinner or buy a new little

Every girl will go through a time in her life when she has to choose: eat dinner or buy a new little piece of fabulous. We have all been (or are, or will be) so broke that the basic necessities of human life are juggled on a constantly shrinking stage of available funds. I like to refer to it as my “starving artist” period, through which all writers, photographers, and other creative people must progress. My parents like to refer to it as “get a job NOW.”

What is a girl supposed to do? Let me share a relatively recent discovery of mine: you don’t necessarily need money to have a nice meal out.

I moved to New York City for an internship this month and subsequently have no money. The first weekend I was here just happened to be my birthday (funny how that worked out), so I was obligated to spend lots of moolah…on myself. Now I have even less money. This is a HUGE PROBLEM in a city where every block is full of deliciousness and fun.

My solution? First dates.

It’s not hard to find a guy to take you out on a first date. First dates are easy – no pressure, no expectations, and all you have to do is chat pleasantly and eat delicious food (or see a cool movie, or whatever). If you don’t want to take it beyond the first date, then you don’t have to. If you do, then more power to ya, sister (more free food ).

Either way, you both had a nice time and you got to try a new restaurant for free. Win/win.

Obviously, I realize it’s not very nice to use guys just for a free meal. But hey, the way I see it, they’re getting the pleasure of my company and conversation and I’m not completely ruling out the possibility of a second date or even a relationship (one not entirely based on free food, that is). And I’ll pay it back eventually. You know, when I have a job and I’m making money and not dancing around my sublet when I find a dollar in a pair of jeans I haven’t worn in awhile…

In the meantime, though, that Korean restaurant down the street is looking de-LISH and I think that dishy Korean guy would be the perfect person to buy me dinner.

Our next meeting is on Monday, March 9th 2009 at 7pm at the Nussbaum Meeting room at the Greensboro Public Library. There is a free dinner served there at 6pm.

Gydos.com new developments: $19.05 cost of dba (doing business as) registration with the Guilford County Deeds Office. March 4th 2009

$100 deposit was made to SunTrust to establish an business account for Gydos.com.

Gydos.com regular business news: The office’s rent was paid yesterday out of my disability check $140. Earlier in the week the wireless internet bill was paid $20 out of my disability check . Our storage warehouse rent was paid earlier in the week $125.

Over the last few months I’ve written several post to teach you ladies how to catch your man i

Over the last few months I’ve written several post to teach you ladies how to catch your man if he was cheating. In one post I even taught you how to tell if he was lying or not. These were and remain really hot topics on this blog and I appreciate it. I really enjoy the success stories where many of you have actually caught your man and he didn’t even suspect you knew. I’m both happy and sad that now you guys are out of these relationships but it bothered me with the amount of hurt these so called boyfriends caused.

Once they were caught I somehow felt responsible for some of the hurt many of you suffered. However, I felt solace in the fact that as one of you wrote to me and thanked me for assisting her in identifying that her whole relationship was a lie. She said she has since moved on and that her new man, is caring, loving and attentive to her needs. Congratulations to her and I wish her luck in the future as I wish all of you.

Now the reason for this post is this, I’m still receiving e-mails from those of you who simply cannot pull the trigger so to speak. After all you did to find out the truth, you’re still not sure if he’s lying or telling you the truth. Man, either he’s good at lying or many of you may not want to face the truth. It’s ok though, I’m only here to assist, any choice you make is your own. Good, bad or otherwise.

However, to assist you in finding out for sure if he’s cheating I decided to simplify the process for you. Learning to tell if he’s lying takes time, practice and the ability to step emotionally away from your feelings in order to see the truth. Emotion is strange that way, we can tell a best friend all day long to leave their cheating spouse or boyfriend because we have no emotional attachment. We can see how screwed up her relationship is, but she cannot, because emotionally she’s blind to it. It happens to us all.

So today, I am going to give you a sure fire way to find out if your man, or even your best friends man is cheating. This is my Christmas Gift to you all, especially the ones who take the time to write to me and say hello from time to time.

Now this system is simple but it will require the assistance of a co-worker, family friend or girlfriend whom your significant other does not know. Think about it, this selection is crucial to you uncovering the truth so chose wisely. Oh, and make sure it’s someone you trust and will be able to keep a secret forever. Do you know someone like this? Good! I would gladly do it for you if I could.

Here’s what you do, have this person call your boyfriend, mate, husband or whomever your significant other is and do exactly as I say. Trust me this is a tried and proven method and within minutes you’ll know for sure if he is playing around with someone else.

The call:

Your Man : Hello

Trusted friend: Hi, (enthusiastically)is this _ _ _ _ _ _? My name is Jane (made up) and I work for Sweet Hearts Florist and you have been selected to receive absolutely free, one dozen red roses! A fifty dollar Value!

Your Man: Are you Serious?

Trusted friend: That’s correct, absolutely free and we even take care of the shipping for you.

Your Man: Cool!

Trusted friend: _ _ _ _ _ , all we need from you is the name and address of the person you’d like for these beautiful long stem roses to be shipped to and we’ll send them out today.

Your Man: OK, you can send them to _ _ _ _ _ , at (whatever address)

Trusted friend: Thank you _ _ _ _ _, and please tell your friends and family members about us.

Your Man: Oh, I will. Thank you.

Trusted friend: Have a good day.

Now, some of you may be skeptical about this scheme and that’s a good thing scepticism is a sign of intelligence. It says you’re thinking. You really should think before doing something such as this. You really have nothing to gain and on the other hand you may have something to lose, you man. Not because you attempted this scheme, but because he may fall for it as so many men and women have and send those roses to someone else. There’s a lot of pressure to make a call like this, and you have to decide, do you really want to know? Think about it. Now on the other hand, he may give your trusted friend your name and address. I really hope he does, I like happy endings.

While you think about whether this is something you can do or not let’s fine tune it a bit. Make sure that the person you have call has a professional voice and demeanor. The script I wrote out above is just that a script. Very seldom does the best made plan go according to plan, so think ahead in the event he starts to ask questions.

One question that comes to mind is, “How did you get my name?” One answer could be, we got your name and number from a Hotel you and he stayed in recently, or a place you had dinner at, or one of his credit card companies. If he’s you man you should know where he shops, what type of credit cards he possesses or a hotel you and he stayed in. Or even a Airline he recently flew on will suffice. Think and you’ll have the answer.

Next question: He may ask if he can pick the roses up. No, because you are located in a different State.

He may asked that you send them to him: No you have a dilemma. You can and it could be a good idea, because then you could see if he brings them home to you.

Are you still thinking? Contemplating? There’s no reason to rush into this, take your time. I’ll write some more.

What if he wants to send them to you? Good right? Maybe, but then you have two choices, you can send yourself roses or you can tell him that someone tried to deliver roses to you and you refused because they wouldn’t tell you who they were from. Sorry! However, it was really the thought that counts! Thank you.

What if he asks your trusted friend for a call back number? Simply make up a 800 number and if he says he’ll call back to give you the name and address for the shipment, politely inform him that you need the information right now, or you’ll have to call the second person on the list. That’s contest rules. Had he not answered, you were prohibited from leaving a message or to attempt to call him again. Your instructions were if he answered, he won, if not call the next person on the list. Trust me, free makes peoples ears perk up.

Here is a perfect example of how people react to hearing free, in the past some Police Departments around the country have sent out letters to individuals that have

warrants for their arrest. In these letters they have instructed them that they were invited to a party where each guest would receive free gifts totalling as much as $500.00. All this person had to do was to bring the invitation and a form of ID to be admitted into the function where they would receive a free dinner and gift. Free! Hundreds of individuals would show up and would be identified with their own ID and then be arrested, saving Law Enforcement thousands of dollars in man hours to have to hunt for these people. Free is an aphrodisiac for us all.

Don’t have a trusted friend? Try it this way if you’d like. Send him a dozen roses to his work place with nothing on the card except, Thinking about you! No name, phone number or anything. Have a female at the florist write the note and pay for it in cash so they have no record of who you are.

If he doesn’t call and ask if you sent him roses, you have a problem. If he doesn’t bring them home, you have a problem. If he never mentions the fact that he received roses, you have a serious problem.

Still thinking? Think long and hard and you and only you can decide if this is something you would like to try. Only you know in your heart if he’s cheating on you and only you can catch him and put this matter to rest. Only you know if it’s worth the trouble to do this feat. Only you know if it’s better not to know than to know. Only you can make this decision. Choose wisely.

Merry Christmas

…is usually never a good idea. Why do I always forget that? It’s not as if, just because it’s free, you should eat it (all of it). To wit: I just braved the 7:30 dinner rush in the firm cafeteria. I was starving (7:30 is too late for me to be having dinner) and got caught up in the rush of the person slinging “brown” (it was more like orange) rice, watery squash and fried scallops (questionable, but delicious) onto plates as fast as she could. I got caught up in the free bags of chips, the free cookies. And everyone scarfing it all down in 10 minutes to get back to his or her desk. And now I feel utterly gross. I mean, so gross I just don’t know what to do with myself. My coworker, with whom I “dined” is about to hit the gym (after that meal? At this hour? More power to him). Oh well. I shall just start afresh tomorrow.
