In fact, with several opponents, you should consider myself rather lucky to be able to check on the spot with his hand as a pair with a strong kicker. You should also keep a close eye on tight player in those pots, too. These types of players do not play with anything and if they are still around on the river, and go for a mouse is probably a problem since the call will be a loss for you in most situations.

In what appears to be an attempt to drum up some interest in Age of Conan, Funcom are offering an unlimited free trial to people who sign up before the first of January.

The trial allows players to play all of the content on Tortage Island at no cost whatsoever, but there are catches. For one thing, characters can only reach level 20. Another catch is the inability to use public chat channels, the forums, in-game mail, or trade with others – all in the hope of preventing spam and gold farming. Fair enough, really, for a trial which lasts as long as you want it to – you can even level multiple characters.

Evony, a free online RTS game, gives new meaning to the term Multiplayer game.  It is a MMORPG, or a MMORTS pronounced ‘muh-morg’ , and ‘muh-ort’ or pretty much any way you want to try to pronounce it.  Basically, this means it is a MASSIVE Multiplayer online game as in big, huge, as in, over 10 million players world wide at the time of this article.  And it is still growing with over 100 servers now, and new servers for specific languages popping up even as I write this.  From the conception of other real-time strategy games such as World of Warcraft, or my all time 1st and favorite, Command & Conquer, Evony is proving to be the most addictive and attractive of them all.  There is no download required, is completely browser based and supported on most such as IE, Firefox, and Chrome.

Registering is quick and easy.  Upon signing up, your dropped into a new server along with other new members joining around the same time.  The game offers easy to follow quests for you to get the hang of things, and if followed, will pretty much guide you in the best way to gain resources, money, armies, buildings, and technologies.  Along with the gradual game start-up, there are 100s of online forums and blogs, posting tips and tricks, reports, and player experiences to help you on your journey.   Within the game are chat channels for you to communicate with members of your alliance and other players throughout your server.  The game is absolutely FREE and as far as I can tell, NOT ad supported.  Unless the Evony developers have found a way to subliminally feed me blurbs about Totinos pizza or Folgers coffee, which I consume quite a bit of while playing Evony, then it is what it says it is: FREE!

Now with that said, there is a way you can spend money on the game.  You have the opportunity to purchase Evony cents, which are redeemable for objects that help you increase production, aid in army strength, speed up production, or give you instant resources when needed.  But even if you choose not to spend any money and play free, you receive a daily login amulet, which you can redeem for a free random object.  I received 300 cents in one spin, which is quite a bit and you can actually buy more amulets for 5 cents for more random spins.  You also receive certain items by completing quests.  So even without spending dollars, you can quite easily get the resources you need from daily play.

Since I’ve been playing, I have stumbled across blogs and forum posts by disgruntled players, complaining about how Evony really isn’t free, and how the creators of Evony are rigging the game so we have to spend money to succeed.  Even worse, is the proposed ‘greediness’ of the creators to try and make a profit off of us poor lowley players struggling through the game.  That is absolutely ridiculous!  The game is free, I have been very succesful in the game without spending money, and besides that, the creators DESERVE to make a few dollars off their creation!  This is a well built, bug-free, FREE game which some hard-working individuals put their time and resources into making.  They provided a service, and deserve to be not only compensated for it, but should also profit from it and I hope they profit well.  So to the creators of Evony, Thank You!

Now, for anyone planning on trying the game out, a few helpful hints without going into specific tactics.

1.  When starting out, concentrate on building your population, resources and follow the quests.  Once you have the hang of the game, you’ll realize that having a productive society creates a strong military.

2.  When gaining rank and title, ensure you get the next title 1st, then the rank, then the next title, etc.  Title 1st.  Getting medals in the game is becoming more and more difficult, so use your medals to gain a new title, which equals another city, then go for the next rank. 

3.  If you have evony coins to spend, use them only on something you absolutely need, otherwise I recommend getting medal boxes with the medals you need for the next title, or getting more amulets for 5 cents each.

A fan of the game series – WORMS? Have a N900? You’ve got to try Wormux!

This is a free touch/keyboard-combo game to download and it has all the game play aspects of the original Worms franchise.

But instead of worms, you’ve got [15] teams based on open source software (at least that’s what Wikipedia says ) i.e.. Gnu, Tux, PHP, Firefox, OOo, Spip, Pidgin, Snort, Wilber, Konqi, SuSE and Workrave, Thunderbird, Beastie and Nupik.

If you don’t know what they are, it doesn’t matter (I’m only familiar with half of the teams). Just pretend they’re just random animals.

Below is a short 4 minute video just to demo some of the settings, controls, maps and weapons of Wormux for the N900.

It’s a really good game but it does suffer from random lagging. Sometimes the load takes a while or some animations don’t play out properly – other times it’s fine.

Something to try: it is advisable that you restart your N900 after installation – mine performed slightly better (quicker loading).

“I can steer with one paw, I can work the pedals with one paw, I can change gears with one paw. But it’s not that easy.”

Tom’s next door neighbour, disturbed from his sleep by the alarm, was resting against his front door, waiting for a chance to interject: “Bears are smarter than that,” he yelled, “They know that it’s not real. Shit looks like it was drawn in Microsoft Paint, fer Christ sake.”

“A bear who is gathering food, trying to prepare for hibernation can’t tell the difference,” replied Tom. “They think it’s just a game”.

Both men turned and looked at the bear in the Toyota. It’d stalled the car a number of times by now and was currently flicking through the glove compartment in search for a manual or some Fruit Pastels to snack on.
