Im Jahr 2004 nach seiner Rückkehr nach Australien begann Juan Mann in der Pitt Street Mall in Sydney mit Free Hugs, indem er sich mit einem Schild in die Fußgängerzone stellte, auf dem „Free Hugs“ stand. Nachdem sich die ersten Leute dazu überwanden, den Fremden zu umarmen, erreichte seine Idee in der Umgebung schnell nahezu Kult-Status – bis sie von der Polizei gestoppt wurde.

Thanksgiving Day is once again upon us and we find ourselves grateful for health, family, good friends and Tweeps and Fans, and for all of the other great folks we’ve met along the way.

Some of us are also thankful for easy “The Office” triva questions, or any easy trivia questions about any subject for that matter. “Easy,” of course, being the operative word there.

And we’re grateful for You Tube videos that makes us smile.

Sometimes, a hug is all what we need. Free hugs is a real life controversial story of Juan Mann, A man whos sole mission was to reach out and hug a stranger to brighten up their lives.

Dando vueltas por la web, mirando, leyendo y haciendo miles de cliks en diferentes páginas encontré una noticia que me llamó mucho la atención.

Hace algunos años un hombre que se hace llamar “John Mann” comenzó una movida que tiene como objetivo dar y recibir abrazos. Lo que  se inició como una necesidad individual se transformó con el pasar de los días en algo mundial.

En diferentes partes del mundo se han hecho eco de esta campaña y con la sola premisa de “Abrazos Gratis” (“Free Hugs” su nombre original), la gente sale a la calle en busca de abrazos.

En épocas tan raras, complicadas y apresuradas brindarse un momento para dejarse abrazar o darle un “apretón” (si se me permite la expresión) a quien tenemos al lado, es un ejercicio que deberíamos implementar más a menudo, sin pudor y con muchas ganas.

Because we watched this video in one of my classes and it was so happy/sad that I had to try really hard to not cry too noticeably:

One Christmas Eve, my mom was boarding an airplane, and the guy taking tickets hugged every single person as they got on the plane. Strangely, not a single person resisted or seemed to think it was weird, and everyone was a little happier after that. Sometimes, I just really love people, don’t you?

5. Free hugs. This was great & I didn’t think twice about it.

Yesterday, thanks to Sognatrice from Bleeding Espresso I discovered yet another blog Roam to Rome. On there, I found a great story about students who were giving out.. FREE HUGS! They held up bilingual, English and Italian, signs that advertised. My favorite part of the video was where one of the students held up a sign to a slowly passing police car. The cops were just like, “eff you! I don’t want a hug from you!”

What would you do if someone came up to you an offered a free hug? Roam to Rome summarized the video as such:

“When offered a free hug in downtown Rome, people’s reactions fell into a bell curve consisting of 4 categories.

1) A few people were very enthusiastic and RAN with open arms for the hug with a big grin on their face.

2) Many others just smiled and gladly took a tight hug.

3) Others pretend not to notice, and simply walked away from the hug.

4) A few get upset and flat out rejected the hug.”

Piękna akcja, zorganizowana od ludzi dla ludzi

Czy zachodnie społeczeństwo stać jeszcze na trochę ciepła i luzu? Otóż tak!

Studying for my midterm FAIL FAIL FAIL while on Facebook (surprise, surprise). Saw this RSVP on my news feed.

Ran across this video early this morning and thought it was worth sharing to others.  The campaign for free hugs had the idea to bring light and smiles into the faces of our fellow brothers and sisters.  This is social activism at its finest, a black bold marker along with a ripped off square of cardboard was the necessary tools to reach out to the masses. Do you ever feel as if we are separated and disconnected? I know I sure do at times.

Do you want to know how we make a bad situation positive, we need to come together as a whole. We cannot have any worthy progress if we have this brick wall separating social classes. Next time you are strolling around in a busy area take notice of the lack of human eye contact and it will highlight the social dis-connectivity our society faces today.  We should all  make a sound attempt at meeting someone new daily, who knows maybe he or she will become a new friend.

No,itt is voltunk.Nem volt ez rossz,néha kicsit lagymatag benyomásom volt az egészről,de összességében megérte elmenni,mert jól éreztük magunkat.Éppen ezért gondoltam,hogy debütáló postnak ez megteszi.

Reggel 9kor találkoztunk Örsön a barátnőimmel,és onnan mentünk a Hungexpora.Már előre sajnáltam azokat,akik 2 megállóval előbb,a Bababörze helyszínén szálltak le,mert csak mentek a tömeg után,de hát így jártak.Jót tett nekik az a kis testmozgás.:D Odaértünk,már volt egy relatíve kicsi sor(a NyaCon soraihoz képest minden kicsinek számít)de senki nem tudott semmit,hogy hol lesz az elővételis átvétel,és a bejárat azoknak,akiknek már megvan a jegyük,vagy akik csak most veszik.Mindenesetre bejutottunk.A kapu nyitása nagyon pontos volt,bár a közel 1 órás sorban állás után már így is jégkockák voltunk,cosplayben.Én Kuchiki Rukia voltam(de csak a nap első felében),volt velem még egy Tybalt is,meg egy Sasuke.

Bementünk,körülnéztünk,feltérképeztük,mi merre hány óra.A dobhártyánk kb. azonnal beszakadt a hangosan üvöltő AMV-vetítéstől,de egy-két órán belül a fülünk is akklimatizálódott.Bent találkoztunk pár kedves ismerőssel(Hirotaka,Catrin,Iski)aztán mentünk tovább.Vásároltunk pár apróságot,aztán csak lézengtünk,meg pózoltunk a fényképezőknek.Egy-két óra punnyadás után megint útnak indultunk.Miközben nézelődtem,egy csávó tetőtől talpig végigmért vagy háromszor,én meg csak néztem,hogy “Ezt meg mi lelte”,aztán megkérdezte,hogy én ki vagyok.Mondtam,hogy Rukia,erre ő:”Inkább hasonlítok Matsumoto Rangikura”.(hozzáteszem rajtam volt a fekete paróka,a rózsaszín sálam meg nem,amitől egy kicsit is Matsumotos lennék,szóval nem tudom,miből vonta le ezt a következtetést.)Ezek után úgy döntöttem,hogy kellően zavar a paróka ahhoz,hogy levegyem,főleg,ha fel se ismernek vele.Szóval átváltottam Rangikura.Szerencse,hogy ehhez már jó volt a saját hajam,meg sálam.Találkoztunk Channáékkal,velük lógtunk sokat,aztán én,meg a Tybaltnak öltözött Shuu nekilódultunk ingyen öleléseket osztogatni.Végigöleltük a fél conos bagázst,Paincitől kezdve Chibi Gaaraékon át mindenkit(persze csak aki nem akart gyomron vágni),szóval elmúlattuk az időt.Végül megnéztük a seiyuu felolvasóestet.Egészen fantasztikus volt.:D Nekem főleg a Bleaches fanfic tetszett,mind az előadás,mind a történet szempontjából.Ott volt Szalay Csongor is,mint meghívott seiyuu,nagyon jó volt élőben látni.Kiabáltunk neki páran,hogy “Csongi énekelj!”,de éneklés helyett inkább lemenekült a színpadról(Igen,ez a mi formánk)…Ezek után hazamentünk.

Úton hazafelé a 3-as villamoson épp a frissen vásárolt Bleach első kötetemet olvastam,amikor egyszer csak leszólított egy nő,hogy mi az,amit olvasok,mert neki ez tetszik,és hol vehet ilyet.Szóval bővül a mangások társadalma.:D

Egy dolgot sajnálok,hogy Tücsi barátnőnk nem tudott velünk jönni,de majd legközelebb.:) Ja,és ha valakinek van képe rólunk bármilyen formában,az kérem írjon!
