Here’s wishing everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving weekend!

The hubby and I had a lovely Thanksgiving with our friends last night, and have been enjoying the time at home.  We both have work to do (I have outlining and he has grading), but it is nice to be able to spend an extra few days at home.  I hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend with their loved ones!

If you had to, could you get rid of 50 things today? Either toss, recycle, give away or sell 50 items in your home? M and I used to be able to on a given day, but it’s getting more difficult to reach that quota.

Every once in awhile, usually when the clutter in our house starts getting out of control, we play “50 Things.” [Disclaimer: We didn't come up with this idea, a friend suggested it.] It’s easy, we go through the house and find things that can go elsewhere and don’t stop until the amount totals 50.

It’s liberating. It’s oddly cleansing and it’s expectantly freeing. We’ve played this game for years. Before I met M. I would always clean my house four times a year as if I were about to move. But now, he tends to instigate our purges. The timing is uncanny: I’m thinking that it’s time to clean, but I’ve decided I have other things to do. Each instance, I’m grateful I took the time to play—50 things.

We have a long weekend coming up so why don’t you play. It allows for charitable donations, gift possibilities and uncluttered closets (the best place to start).

Today the swim season started, and my muscles are already aching. The practices will be 3 times a week until the beginning of April, and I hope I’ll be more fit by then. I’ve always loved swimming, but it’s so competitive… The races make me nervous, and I’m always trembling on the starting blocks! Anyhow, intense workouts take my mind of all the stress at school, and I look forwards to improving as a swimmer and having just as much fun as I had last year as a participant in the team!

This morning, I  was reading through Twitter Moms and a fun contest caught my eye.  To enter, bloggers have to write a post about their Black Friday shopping strategies.  I was reading through the entries and struck by how creative these women were, and how many DEALS they were going to be getting for their families. 

Then I saw this post from a fellow WordPress blogger and thought, oh, that’s more me. 

Because, sure, I’d love to win a Target Gift Card (pick ME!  pick ME!).  But here’s the thing.  I don’t have any Black Friday strategies, unless you could total avoidance of the event to be a strategy. 

Crone is right on target with her post (target!  Nice synergy in that sentence.)  Black Friday ain’t what it used to be.  You’re lining up with a bunch of sweaty and aggressive strangers to try and snag one of two netbooks the store has…and you’re not going to get it. 

I shop at stores like Kohl’s, WalMart and, yes, Target because I expect to save money year round.  I don’t look to them one day of the year to entertain me with LOW LOW LOW prices while I zoom my shopping cart through the throngs of humanity crammed into a very small space.

In the past 10 years, the only thing I have ever bought on Black Friday was a skin for my iPod that I bought online at the Apple Store.  They hardly ever have sales, so that was the right time to take advantage of that opportunity.  The rumor sites say they will do the same thing this year, and Soccer Girl has her eye on a Touch for the holidays – maybe I’ll get lucky.  I bet Target.com has some sales, and I will check them out.  From the privacy of my own cozy home.   But no way, no how will I step foot into a store on Friday.  That, my friends, is a strategy for success!

The dishes are dirty and they are on the countertop.  Someone must do something about this.  I am too busy to rinse off the dishes and put them in the dishwasher and after all that put soap in it, and close it and then turn it on.

It is too much.  It a shackle around 30 minutes.   There are more important things for me to do.   I would very much like to address a much needed bath and bottle of Spanish wine.  As well, I have the important task of briefly looking at papers and then putting them in order of importance, and then finding a place to put the papers until they become irrelevant.

There are other serious problems.  The fact I can’t command my coffee cup to fill itself and come to my beckoning is very disturbing.  It is not the worst problem but it is a good indicator at how bad things really are.  No one I’ve talked to can order their coffee cup full.

Don’t think I’ve forgotten the bathroom.  Or caring for clothes and other fabrics.  It is almost too much to bear   – think about it.  How can I be expected to get any of this done while I am in the tub watching the soft flicker of candles as I listen to public radio’s jazz hour and reread “The Marching Drum”?

As a move toward solidarity and progress, we should seek to end these horrendous problems that infect billions of people with chronic suffering through these problems tedious continuality and lasting residue on their lives’ time.

No one should turn their eyes away from these atrocities that cripple time and force people into predictive patterns of humdrum behaviors.  No one should have to clean a toilet again!   Can you imagine a world where all tasks of maintenance  are performed automatically?  The windows clean themselves?

When objects do as they are commanded?  “Come here keys!”  could be heard all over the world.  We the American people need to be a good example for rest of the world and move forward to solve these problems of human life.  How much suffering should people be expected to endure?  All possible resources should be put into these problems. The inefficiency of these problems is costing us too heavy a price.   We are supposed to be happy with automated vacuum cleaners or airplanes or radios that don’t even work well?  I tell you now -these sloppy quick fixes are not enough.

the next day layan SENARIO the movie 2.. even pon ak kurang minat ngan senario nih..boleh la buat gelak pecah perot gak hahaha…ak leh kasi rating 3 out 5 lah..dalam kategori lawak melayu..kalo the best movie? i cant give that mush of a rating..sorry senario.

Well, I got back from Senior Retreat yesterday, left Thursday morning. It was awesome! Two days away from home I’m gonna miss.

So basically, we stayed at a dorm-room-like place, co-ed formatted.  Not bad, I definitely got the feel of dorm room life before I finally set off for college later. It was well worth it. The Retreat itself was cool, but (not a bad thing) definitely felt alot like, as I said, college. We had our free time, then we had to work, in groups, which was good. I really didn’t want to work alone this whole trip, haha.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were definitely better than the school’s breakfast and lunch. I’d go back there just for those meals. Wish I had thanked them properly.

The Senior class came closer than ever. I don’t what more to say about it. It was the best two days of this school year. I’ll never forget them either

В Бурж ал Араб няма стандартни стаи. Най-малкият апартамент заема 169 м², а най-големият около 780 м². Цената за нощувка варира между 1 000 $ и 15 000 $. Кралският апартамент е най-скъп – 28 000 $.

Хотелът има формата на корабно платно, което нощем се осветява във всевъзможни менящи се багри. Любопитно е, че погледнат откъм морето, той изглежда като огромен светещ кръст.На входа му ще ви посрещне скулптура на камила, изработена от 8600 късчета 22-каратово злато, със сини очи от кристали “Сваровски”.

Атракциите са навсякъде. Всичко изглежда внушително,невероятно,дизайнерско. Една от находчивите арабски идеи е нестандартния интериор на огромен МОЛ ,в който всичко е сякаш от Лапландия – лифт, ски писта, ледена пързалка и писта за бобслей. Сняг,скреж, лед и студ при + 50 градуса навън.

Палма Джумейра е друга забележителност.Това е  изкуствено създаден остров от компания собственост на Дубайското правителство. Островът е с формата на палмово дърво, направен от 94 милиона куб. метра пясък и 7 милиона тона камъни. С ширина и дължина 5 км и цялата и площ се равнява на повече от 800 футболни игрища. Палмата е със 17 листа(полуострови), които са покрити с вили и резиденции, заобиколени от уникална плажна ивица и удивителни водни гледки.

Вероятно всеки посетил Дубай затаява дъх пред уникалната гледка на пеещите фонтани.

Finally Uruguay tied with Costa Rica  1 to 1 and qualified for the 2010 World Cup. It was a difficult match and the uruguayans as always, had to suffer.

Something to remember is the interpretation of the National Anthem by “El Zurdo”…

Et hop me revoilà, je sais que je n’ai pas trop trainé ici ces derniers temps… Mais bon j’ai de nouveau envie de venir m’exprimer ici ! En ce moment je suis en mode concert. Dernier en date, celui de Placebo au Zénith de Paris ! Grandiose, toujours au top. Y’a vraiment rien à dire, ils déchirent. E Brian j’aimerais bien qu’il m’épouse ! Bref….

Prochain en date c’est celui de Pony Pony Run Run à la Cigale au mois de janvier. Il reste encore plein de places alors ruez-vous pour aller voir les petits frenchies (de Nantes, me semble ?) parce que c’est vraiment chouette ! Ca tourne en boucle dans mon ipod depuis des mois, et moi ça me donne la pêche pour commencer la journée

…when we just don’t know?

It’s 4am and I’m just wondering where I’m heading, and I’ve yet to answer the question. In a month I’ll be on holiday again, for two months, I wonder if I’ll make good use of that time. Right now I don’t feel the urge to do anything, just sleep. Sleep for those two months, hibernate. But I know I need to make proper use of the time, do something constructive etc.

I think I’ll work on recording some originals, maybe compile an EP and release it some time early next year. Just 4 tracks, I’m already almost done with 1. Get my driving license, take the TOEFL exam, and maybe even visit my ‘ancestral domain’. I’ve still not been able to take the observation coach to Badulla, so that’s one more thing I want to do.

Somehow none of this feels exciting, not even the thought of holidays. Strange. Very issstrange.
