Si alguien aumenta eso, ve all-in.

Since I started this Challenge with zero dollars in my account, it would make sense to explain a lit

Since I started this Challenge with zero dollars in my account, it would make sense to explain a little strategy on playing freerolls.

Most freerolls have between a 30 and 100 dollar prize pool and usually thousands of players. This means that if you get anywhere close to cashing in one, you will be spending at least a couple of hours playing for what is usually somewhere between 50 cents and 15 dollars. Not much, but if your starting a new bankroll without making a deposit, these pennies are what is going to start you off so you should at least have a plan of attack that will help you cash in them. Some poker sites (like bodog) have freerolls that have rebuys and guaranteed prize pools up to $1000. Freerolls like these should be played in as much as possible but we will talk about these in another article. Ill be focusing on the smaller freerolls here.

Early Stages

Freerolls should be played a little bit different than real money tournaments. Real money tournament strategy is to start off tight early on playing mostly premium hands and not risking your tournament life on coin flips. Once the antes kick in you should turn up the aggression and build your stack gradually by stealing the blinds and antes. Freerolls are different in that you want to build your stack early by doubling up. You want to play smart but do not worry about betting small amounts to win small pots. Take your premium hands and push all in preflop. You will most likely get at least one or 2 callers with average hands. Do not wait until after the flop to push all in. Many players who would have called you with K 10 preflop will not want to call after a flop of 9-5-3. You want to double up early and often with solid hands. If it doesnt work out you can just play another freeroll. You need to build a big stack early so you can throw it around the table in the later stages. Take advantage of the carelessness and loose play of the other players. I would push all in with any pocket pair 88 or better and ace jack or better. If you can see a flop cheaply I would limp with all pocket pairs below 88, any suited ace, KJ, K10 or any suited connectors trying to see a monster flop. NEVER BLUFF AT THIS STAGE OF THE TOURNAMENT!!!

Middle Stages

As the tournament progresses, the play will start to resemble normal poker more and more with players gradually beginning to tighten up. The middle stages will still be fairly loose but now you can start to pick and choose who you want to play against. By now you should have a big stack that you can use to push the smallest stacks all in. I would refrain from using the all in move here preflop as you may get re raised by a bigger stack you dont want to get involved with. Now is a good time to play Straightforward poker and make big raises with big hands. Play your cards in position and agressively. Dont play out of position unless you have big holdings. Limping with small pocket pairs and suited connectors is still acceptable if you can see the flop cheaply. I would make raises between 3.5 and 5 times the big blind on any raise. I would still refrain from bluffing at this stage of the tournament because of the amount of short stacks that will be ready to move all in. Play as straightforward here as possible and you will still get paid off on your made hands most of the time.

Late Stages

As the later stages of the tournament come closer you can start to increase your range just a little bit and play a little more aggressively. I would still play very straightforward but you can start raising with suited aces and even suited connectors in position. However, be prepared to fold these in the face of reraises. The short stacks will be willing to move all in and you will still need premium holdings to be able to call these raises. Continue to play most hands in position and wield your big stack around the table as much as possible. Note that this strategy is for a big or medium/big stack, if you have a short stack you need to wait for a hand to double up with on an all in move. You need to tighten your range of hands and wait for good opportunities when you are the favorite to win.

Final Table

If your lucky enough to get to the final table, now is the time to become the bully if the table is fairly tight. You can raise with any ace, king, or even Q 10, Q J. If the table is very loose let them knock each other out and move up the ladder with solid poker plays in position.

Good Luck!

Readers Ive been getting allot of questions recently on the November 9. There are rumors flying around every where as people get ready for the conclusion to the pinnacle of Poker and the end of the 2009 WSOP journey. Who is going to win? Who is my pick? Has Norman Chad really been married 6 times? Is Ivey really a robot? ( I think maybe…) To these questions Im still not sure.

I have been playing allot on Full Tilt though to try to win a piece of Phil Ivey. I will continue to post any new items and updates that I can! As far as Norman Chad goes, I’m not even sure that’s his real hair?? And how the hell does Lon Macheron not slap him silly is the biggest mystery.

So stay tuned for more updates as we all wait for the new Champ to be crowned and remember for extra WSOP news visit WDIAV!!!

Sunday I placed 5th in a 1000+ player $3.00+.30 buy in NL tourney on Full Tilt. It was a good time and a lot of good players. I actually coasted in to 5th by basically folding or going all in from 9th. I was able to capitalize on the aggressiveness of two players who busted out when shoving with weak holdings into the chip leader who woke up twice with huge hands. In the end I lost when my AJ off met up with pocket 9s. I picked up $167 with my 3.30 buy in so I cant complain! This was a Knockout event and I also scored 6 KOs which was $3.00 back which made my buy in so at that point I was actually freerolling in this No Limit Texas Holdem event! If you dont have a Full Tilt account sign up here at WDIAV and request Rake Back. A variety of Texas Holdem formats will be offered, including No Limit, Pot Limit, Fixed Limit, Turbo events, super-turbo events and re-buy events.

The prize pool in each qualifying tournament will be distributed the same way it would be in a regular Bodog tournament, but the top 30% of finishers from each event will earn Tournament Leaderboard Points, which determine who moves on to the 15 Days of Poker Semi Final and the $15,000 Final Tournament.

The Semi Final Tournament will be held on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 8:15 pm EST, with the field consisting of those placing in 16th to 115th place on the 15 Days of Poker leaderboard as well as players who have competed in at least 10 qualifying events. The winner also gets a seat in the weekly Bodog $100,000 Guaranteed online poker tournament, and the remaining top 14 finishers each win a seat in a $100,000 qualifier.

Five-step plan to get to the WSOP
by Bodog Poker | Apr 23 2009

We all want to get to the big show and play in the biggest live poker event on the planet. The World Series of Poker Main Event has always been the biggest poker prize pool of the year where the best players in the world, and a ton of satellite winners, battle to become immortal by winning the WSOP championship. But coming up with 10K US plus travel expenses to buy into the event isn’t that easy for all of us to do. There are many ways to get to the WSOP, here’s a five-step plan that could get you there this year…

1. Creating and organizing a satellite schedule. The easiest way to get there is to win a satellite event that covers all the costs. Figure out when you can play and find the available satellites that you can play during your down time. Play as many satellite events as you can afford to play and your schedule permits, and don’t get discouraged if things don’t go your way at first. Satellites are long shots, so winning one of them can take awhile.

2. Playing in the Bodog Qualifiers is an inexpensive way to get into the big tournament. They start as low as $1.50 or you can use your BodogLife points. Once you finish deep enough in a qualifier you’ll make it to the next level where you can continue until you play for a seat in Vegas. One can skip levels if they want to invest more; spending more will buy you in direct to levels that you would normally have to earn.

3. If the satellite action fails to get you into the main event you can try to secure someone who’s willing to stake you to play in it. This usually comes in the form of a professional player who will take 60% of all your earnings if you end up going deep in a tournament. Lots of big name professionals will stake up-and-comers who are good enough to win them some money. These relationships usually end once the new player wins enough to cover their own bankroll.

4. If you can’t find a rich person to stake you there’s always the option of securing a sponsor. If you can locate a company that’s willing to pay your way to Vegas in exchange for wearing their logo during televised play, you’ll be in the big show with no effort other than convincing someone to take a chance on you. The good thing about a sponsorship deal is that you get to keep all your winnings – your sponsor won’t look to get half or more if you have a good tourney and cash out in a big way.

5. If all that fails you can head to Vegas yourself and play in the many live satellite games that will be taking place in the Rio and around the town’s poker rooms. Satellite action for the main event around town should be non-stop once the WSOP events start in late May.

Another step is to join WDIAV whom in the past have offered several free satellite events to win cash and they gave away 6 WSOP seats last year! Also right now when you sign up for fullTilt.com through WDIAV you could earn a free start to your bankroll!

I get alot of questions about bankroll building and bankroll management. I have been fortunate enough to learn alot from the website WDIAV to improve on both and especially with the tournaments they offer have cashed nicely along the way. However to keep my bankroll healthy I am always searching for a good and effective way to help other players and myself stay on this path to a solid bankroll! Here is a good article I found at Bodog.com and I liked it enough that I thought I would share it with my readers.

Best Way to Build a Bankroll from $100by Bodog Poker | May 11 2009

Building a bankroll is no easy task for anyone to pull off. There are many ways to do it, but whichever way you try you’ll need discipline, patience, and luck. Traditionally a player would try to build a bankroll playing in the action they liked the most, or in a variation where they felt that they played their best. For many players in the past, and still some today, it means grinding long hours of limit games, playing at stakes small enough to overcome the swings that variance will surely bring.

Limit games make things more manageable and you can’t lose a big percentage of your bankroll in a couple of cooler hands. With proper table selection, building a bankroll playing limit games is time consuming but possible. But the current picture of online poker has changed things, and players have better playing situations where they can gain an edge on most of the players they compete against. Today there are so many novice players playing multi-table and sit-and-go tournaments that a player with intermediate poker skills can build a bankroll playing them.

With a buy-in of $100 one has a couple of choices. Instead of taking it into a no-limit cash game and dumping it in one bad beat, take $5 of it and play a nine-player no-limit holdem sit-and-go. If you last to the final three players you make money. The quality of opponents in $5 sit-and-go events is not a tough crowd, and if you play with some discipline early on, and increase your aggression with some caution later in the event, you’ll make money over enough tourneys.

The idea is to practice proper bankroll management and to stay in games that only cost 5% of your bankroll to play. That way you can handle a losing streak without going broke. And as your bankroll grows, don’t jump up in stakes levels right away. You can play more than one tournament at a time, so instead of jumping up in stakes you can earn more by playing more tourneys at once. If you stay at a level of game you can beat, your variance will be more manageable. Play as many games as you can properly handle and grow your bankroll as much as you can.

If you find yourself beating the games with ease you can consider climbing up in stakes, but only if you have the roll to support it. Jumping up to play in just one $10 tourney means that you should have grown that initial $100 to a minimum of $500. And to play multiple tourneys at once would require much more.

The same goes for multi-table tournaments. These events have more players to compete against, but when you do have a good finish your bankroll grows exponentially. Many of today’s professionals got their bankrolls started with a big cash in a multi-table tournament. Like the sit-and-go events, keep the buy-in amounts to 5% or less of your bankroll.

If you have the patience to play your best game every time you compete, and realize that losing streaks come to an end if you don’t tilt out, you’ll build your bankroll. It may take a long time or a short time; it depends on how the cards fall for you.
I hope that you found this article helpful another great idea is to capitalize on Frequent Player Promotions offered by the different on- line poker room.

We do it all Vegas.com has done it again!! They are hosting 4 tournaments monthly to win entry in their monthly 1k freeroll event. The top 9 from each weekly $25.00 freeroll are given a seat to the 1k tournament. You can also gain a seat by being an active member of the forum with 25 posts for the month and writing 1 blog entry for the month. It couldn’t be easier. Also If you become a rake back player using this link and have over $500 in rake back for the month you automaticaly qualify for the monthly event.
The tournaments are being held on Full Tilt!

I won a seat by placing in the top 9 of one of the $25 freerolls and also by staying active in the forum with 25 posts and I wrote 3 blog articles. ( I actually write frequently LOL) The tournament was held on August 30th at 8pm with only 77 players trying to cash in the 1k priz3e pool!! There were some great players in this event including pro Hal Lubarsky and WDIAV’s own Passive Harry!! I was down to 630 chips at 1 point then battled back to almost be blinded out to the bubble. The two chip leaders went heads up and 1 busted out putting me barely at the final table and into the money!! I switched gears with low expectations and manuvered into third place then battled to be heads up against a great player Momsrose!! After some back and forth we chopped the 1st and 2nd place prize money and I was declared the winner banking over $274.00
It was a great event held by an excellent forum. I enjoy being part of the WDIAV crew and its friendly, knowledgeable players and of course the great tournaments!!

As a graduation gift to myself I decided to do some online gambling with real money. I started with

As a graduation gift to myself I decided to do some online gambling with real money. I started with Full Tilt and then went to Poker Stars. I had been with both sites since June 2009. I never had a problem with Full Tilt and didn’t have a problem with Poker Stars until last month.

Both sites use off shore companies to handle the transactions. With Full Tilt I did the transaction one way but with Poker Stars I did it via e-check because that’s the only way they allow you to cash out. Of the few transactions I’ve done with them, everything was fine. Last month on 7/10 I deposited $25.00. It takes PS up to 10 days to withdraw the money from the checking account. The transaction took place around the 19th of July. I saw it on my statement, but now I can’t find it.

On 8/4/2009 I get charged a NSF because of $25.00 trying to be withdrawn from my account. On 8/11/2009 they tried again to take the money. Another NSF charged to me. I contact Poker Stars to get a copy of all my transactions and they oblige. But I have to digress for a bit.

When I contact PS about anything I would get a response the same day. When I contacted them about the transaction problem I was having it would take them a day or two to get back to me and it usually was a run around answer. One email had them requesting my bank statement. I wrote them back and stated I did not feel comfortable sending them anything regarding my bank statement.

I decided to call the company that actually does the transactions. This company goes by two names Green2yourgreen and GI Holdings. They claimed they didn’t have a records of a transaction. The lady gave me an email address to write someone in their billing department. I wrote them about three days ago and no one has responded. Figures.

I have contacted Poker Stars and told them to remove my e-check information IMMEDIATELY. I didn’t hear from them by the next day. I wrote them again two days later and requested again that they remove my e-check information. They said they removed it. But today, I learned that they tried to take $25.00 from my account again. Another $35.00 NSF I have to pay. I have contacted PS and they claimed they have not received notice of a withdraw coming back to them but that doesn’t mean it has cleared my bank yet. WHAT? I know it cleared my bank around 19th July.

I did have to take drastic measures to make sure Poker Stars does not try to take the $25.00 from my account. And I will never EVER EVER do business with them again.

I looked at a poker forum I belong to and saw other users having the same issue with them, meaning, Poker Stars trying to take money from player’s checking account over and over again after the transaction has cleared but then all of the sudden disappears.

My warning here is, never do an e-check transaction with anyone and highly recommend you take great heed to doing business with Poker Stars. Full Tilt has not been a problem for me at all. Knock on wood!
