It’s starting to make the rounds on Tumblr so I figured I’d share this little number with you.  I’ve always been a fan of the Keep Calm & Carry On prints so when I saw milkgirl’s take involving PHOENIX I had to get in on it.  I’ve been listening to PHOENIX for over six years now, and their music is what keeps me sane.  I’m really hoping that with this Grammy nomination they’ll finally get the recognition that they deserve.

Personally, this has always been my life motto.

Comment êtes-vous aujourd’hui ?  I hope you’re all well and ready to be inspired by France.

Last time, we passed the Palais de Luxumberg, admired the colossal Pantheon, were blest at Saint Etienne next door and headed off to Saint Sulpice, the church made popular in a recent best selling book, ‘The Da Vinci Code”.

I noticed that some people have tried to carve out some of the actual granite stone flooring around the base of what is referred to as the Meridian Line Obelisk, since last I stepped foot inside St Sulpice. Intriguing for all Da Vinci Code followers but albeit over the top for such a sacred space.

St Sulpice remains one of the largest chuches in Paris, with its own 

Metro stop these days. It was originally built over ancient ruins.  Did you know that the famous poet and Romantic writer Victor Hugo (who wrote ‘Les Miserables and The Hunchback of Notre Dame and many more)  married his neighbour’s daughter, Adele Foucher, in St Sulpice? ( They later had five children like me!) I read somewhere that Victor’s brother went insane after their wedding as he was also in love with Adele.Hmnn.

It’s interesting to see that all the chairs in French churches remind me of the very same type depicted in Vincent Van Gogh’s famous yellow Chair” painting of 1888.I am told by locals that French women still hand weave the rush chair bottoms, in a little village along the Rhone River near Avignon, from the rush that grows wild along its banks….’

So, sit back on one of these chairs, close your eyes and listen to some amazing pipe organ music made by Daniel Roth from above. No, not from Heaven, but in the loft. Even better, go up there after the 10.30am mass and let the music waft through your senses. Amazing.

Perhaps you could even spare a thought for all those unfortunate French who Victor Hugo wrote about… If not, the music alone is really  impressive.

Quirky French songstress Jeanne Cherhal will have a new album coming out on March 8, 2010.  It’ll be called Charade and likely hard to find in the U.S.  Luckily Amazon.fr’s buttons are in roughly the same place as Amazon.com’s… that’s how I blindly ordered her last album, L’Eau.

I found out about Jeanne when we picked up her (brilliant) debut album, Douze fois par an, in a record store in Toulouse, France.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to a new one…

Le songstress français bizarre Jeanne Cherhal aura un nouvel album sortir le 8 mars 2010. Ce s’appellera Charade et probablement difficile à trouver aux États-Unis heureusement Amazon.fr’s les boutons de s sont dans rudement le même lieu comme Amazon.com’s. C’est comment j’ai aveuglément commandé son dernier album, L’Eau.  J’ai découvert au sujet de Jeanne quand nous avons pris son premier album brillant, Douze fois par an, dans un magasin record à Toulouse, la France. Quoi qu’il en soit, j’attends avec intérêt un nouvel album…

I should learn French, as I don’t understand a word of any of the French songs I listen to.

Manchester Orchestra, The Strongest & Most Emotional Band Out Of These 4 BANDS & THAT IS SAYING A LOT!!!! Not to mention Andy Hull is also part of the sickest side project since Team Sleep & not only is it painfully emotional, intense & beautiful – But, it & he has it planned out so well. They have 2 Albums out right now & their 3rd Album will be the end to a trilogy amongst a concept regarding a Captain of an old fishing Boat who sets sail and finds the thing that he misses, loves, hates & believes in.. Along with insane Sea Creatures that I won’t even ruin for than fan that will look into this. I have so much respect for Mr. Andy Hull & I am going to try and get Andy to give me my first interview ever for my little Blog which will become an actual website once all of my money isn’t going towards helping others. I figure the Karma Police will eventually come & bail me out of these shackles..

Mimicking Birds – Nate Lacy Was Already My Favorite Songwriter In The Indie Game & Then My Favorite Musician From My Favorite Band (American Band & Almost Global) To Sign Them To Glacial Pace. If You Don’t Know Who I Am Talking About, Then You Apparently Need To Do Some Research~!!

Phoenix (One of my Top Albums Of The Year! By Far The Best Musicians Of All The New Bands. Their Sass Factor Reaches That Of HOT FUZZ By The Killers & That Is BEcause Of ALL 4 MEMBERS INVOLVED!! Greatest Band From France, Not The Best Singer.. They Would Be Lucky To  Crack Top 10, But I Think Their Upside Is A STRONG A+ ~

He Dreams Awake Is The Weird One Of The Bunch.. I Heard Of Him Through A Mutual Friend & I Was Blown Away With The 40+ Tracks I Got My Hands On & That Is When I FOund Out That He Doesn’t Do Many Interviews, There Aren’t Any Pictures I Can Find Of Him & He Hasn’t Even Released His Debut Album Yet~ His Music Is Very Intriguing & The Theories + Structure That He Uses Or Refuses To Use, Makes It That Much More Mysterious To Me. There Is Something About This Solo Artist Who Obviously Treats Music As An Art & His Title Of Musician More Like A Status Of An Artist. This Doesn’t Sound Right, But I Don’t Know What Makes Sense With This Individual & I Would Put A Lot Of Money On The Fact That Is Exactly How He Is Playing His Cards.. Very Close To The Chest~
