Every day, a handful of WordPress.com bloggers are featured on Freshly Pressed. On The Daily Post, we take a close look at posts that have been Freshly Pressed, focusing on why we were drawn to them and what they can teach us about great blogging. We hope this series provides tips and tools to make your blog the best it can be. _________________________________________________________ It’s been said that there are only two story plots in the whole world: somebody comes to town, and somebody leaves town. Don’t Touch Me by Delusia is an intimately personal take on the former. When a woman’s lover returns after a long absence, her feelings for him teeter between familiarity and uncertainty. Here’s why we liked this post: It was tightly edited There are, I believe, two diametrically opposed elements that narrate our desire to keep coming back to each other. One is our not even remotely knowing each other. And the other is knowing each other so completely. Delusia’s prose is sparing.

I recently “attended” a webinar about music websites. Tonight as I ventured around wordpress exploring blogs that were recommended to me, as well as numerous other blogs (you know how one leads to another, then another), I realized I have two recommendations about the actual blog sites. These two things were brought up at the music website webinar; I noticed the same definitely applies for blog sites: * Do not use white text and / or elaborate fonts on a black or other dark color background as it is way too hard on the eyes. There was one blog tonight that could have had fabulous content but I will never know because I could not stand to read more than 2 sentences on the page. * Be sure readers can find your “follow” or sign up for e-mail notice button easily. I actually searched for minutes and never did find one on a couple blogs. I feel bad for these bloggers. Great writing could be missed out on, due to simple readability and accessibility issues. I’m in for Best Lifestyle Blog in Cosmopolitan’s Best Blog Awards 2013! If you think I deserve it, please use the above link to nominate me for it. Absolutely NO pressure – if you don’t want to/don’t think I’m good enough for it, by all means don’t. But if you do decide to, thanks a bunch. To be honest, I’d be thrilled to even make the shortlist, never mind winning the thing. But even so, I’d love it if you did nominate – although you don’t have to tell me either way.
The rose coloring was coming off her memories, flaking away bit by bit, as the words truly sunk in. He was getting married. Married in the house that had been their home, married to one of the many he had cheated with, married to really wash the stink of his first failed family from his life. The hard part was knowing that he would never understand, could never understand, why this hurt so much. Jack was a disappointment, the kind of let down that can tare you up and leave you broken because of how fiercely you needed to believe in him and wanted him to love you. It was time for Maggie to let him go. He had taken everything, with meticulous detail, leaving only the tear stained memories for her to hold him in, and now he had tainted even those.

That right there is simple unconditional love. i.e no conditions, no ‘carrying over’ what we did wrong from yesterday. That’s how much God loves us. When the dawn breaks, He is already waiting for you and me to awake so He can shower us with His love again like never before (regardless of how unlovely we were the day before). The same way His mercies are new everyday, let’s challenge ourselves to give Him NEW praise and gratitude everyday. It doesn’t have to be complicated – it could be as easy as dedicating the first sentence out of our mouths to Him when we wake up. Instead of whining about work, or how freezing it is, or the insufficient amount of sleep we had, how about we just wake up and say “Thank You Lord”… and watch how gradually our days and our attitudes towards everyday life change for the better. Have an amazing week! Love you!

I don’t live near the beach…although someday soon I will (well, it’s part of “the plan” anyway). The water has always been my escape though – a source of comfort that bring feelings of rebirth and renewal. I know that seems like I’m waxing romantic or sentimental about it, but there’s something about being in the water that calms my mind and soul. Now about the photos – these obviously weren’t taken in the beach, but it’s the next best thing. Made good use of the pool where I live to practice some underwater boudoir photography…which come to think of it, photography is my “escape” too – makes me lose time in a good way. Can’t wait to try it out some more these are just some of my favorite ones from the bunch I took during midday the other day.
