In terms of Merger Monday news, Coca Cola announced its intentions to purchase Monster Beverage. Monster spiked 10 percent causing the circuit breakers to subsequently halt trading. There was also a minor move to the upside in Coca Cola’s share price on the back of the news.

In the FX market, there was quite a bit of a move in CAD with the currency showing some weakness on the back of the Canadian GDP number which was forecast to show growth in the month of February but actually showed contraction at 0.2 percent which led to a bit of an upside move in terms of USD/CAD.

Tomorrow brings the Australian rate decision overnight. Current expectations are for a 25 basis point rate cut which will take the main interest rate to 4 percent. During the US session, the focal point in terms of data will be the ISM manufacturing number. Again, European markets will be closed for the labor day holiday. Earnings seasons is well underway with companies reporting in bulk this week. CBS, Domino’s Pizza, Office Depot and Sirius XM are scheduled to report earnings today.

Below are several individual stock names that are favorable candidates for price appreciation during the second quarter. I selected these stocks using a volume, price and moving average based method combined with IBD/CAN SLIM principles.

Domino's Pizza is forming a cup and handle pattern on strong accumulation. A break above $39.06 could send this stock pushing higher. Domino's Pizza reports earnings on May 1 and has an IBD Composite rating of 90 and a RS rating of 96.

Leisure and gaming equipment stock Melco Crown Entertainment looks to be forming a high handle on cup base pattern. A break above $16.09 on strong accumulation could send this stock pushing higher. Melco Crown Entertainment has an IBD Composite rating of 97 and a RS rating of 94.

Retail stock Chico's looks to be forming a new handle in its cup base pattern and is flirting with new 52-week highs. A break above $15.95 on strong accumulation could send this stock much higher. Chico's has an IBD Composite rating of 98 and a RS rating of 87.

Oil and machinery stock Flotek Industries may be forming a new handle on cup base pattern. A break above $14.09 on strong accumulation could send this stock much higher. Flotek Industries reports earnings in two weeks and has an IBD Composite rating of 95, a RS rating of 96 and a perfect SMR rating.

Comcast looks to be finishing a potential multi-week flat base pattern. A break above $30.51 on strong accumulation could send this stock much higher. Comcast reports earnings this week and has an IBD Composite rating of 98 and a RS rating of 87.

Discover Financial Services looks to be forming a flat base pattern. A break above $34.53 for this credit card company could send the stock much higher. Discover Financial Services has an IBD Composite rating of 92, a RS rating of 93 as well as a perfect SMR rating.

Visa seems to be bouncing off recent support levels on decent volume. A break above $123.78 on strong accumulation and this stock could head much higher. Visa reports earnings on May 2 and has an IBD Composite rating of 98, a RS rating of 94 as well as a perfect SMR rating.

Pharmaceutical stock Alexion looks to be finishing its sixth straight week of a flat base pattern. A break above $95.11 on strong accumulation could send this stock much higher. Alexion is on its way to 30 percent EPS growth this year and has an IBD Composite rating of 99, a RS rating of 96 and a perfect SMR rating.

Valeant Pharmaceuticals looks to be forming a flat base pattern after consolidating some recent gains. A break above $55.90 on strong accumulation could send this stock much higher. Valeant has an IBD Composite rating of 99, a RS rating of 85 and a perfect SMR rating.

I just wrote 50 thank you cards to some people in FTK. That’s how much FTK means to me. And the people too I guess. I cannot believe I’ll be leaving soon. Sad. FTK has changed my life in so many ways.

On a happier note, as of 12am of today, I have completed 30 days of Paleo. It was hard at first but now, it doesn’t even phase me. Will I stick to complete Paleo? Probably not. I miss ketchup. If you know me, I am a full on spray-ketchup-in-my-mouth-just-cuz lover. Will I overdose on it like I use to? Probably not. I’ve learned my ways on eating better and I won’t go back but sometimes, I will indulge just because I can.

I’ve been coughing like h*** and I really don’t think it’s because I’m sick anymore. I think I have bronchitis or something. If so, dang it. Tomorrow is my last solo and if I cough through that instead of sing, that would be bad.

The stage at Dance Marathon where miracle stories are shared.

Dance Marathon is an organization that raises money all year-long for the Children’s Miracle Network at Mercy Children’s Hospital in Toledo, OH.  This year marks the 17th anniversary of Dance Marathon at Bowling Green State University. Throughout the year, there are multiple fundraisers leading up to the event. This year, the theme was “Welcome to the Jungle” and was held March 31st- April 1st.  Dance Marathon raised $225,04.92 for the kids BGSU is one of the five founding Dance Marathons in the United States and has been successful for 17 years, raising over $2.5 million for one reason the kids.

The marathon began at 10:00 am Saturday morning. Over a hundred dancers and children transformed  BGSU recreation center into a dance floor with a lot of dancing, games, music and food.  At the thirty-first hour, the miracle children families assembled on stage to tell their stories and announced the Dream Team has raised $45,476.17.

Dance Marathon is a great way college students can give back. It’s a great opportunity to see students take time out to help support someone most of them don’t even know.

How Does Computer Forensic Works Generally ?

• HDD is Duplicated and secured for  later analyses(Computer Forensic).

• Dumps the whole process space (all data and code mappings).

• Uses meta-information to describe the different mappings (needed for advanced analysis). 

• Also saves the process environment & state.

• Outputs to stdout, so it’s possible to combine it with other tools (netcat).

• Doesn’t touch the hard disk at all.

Dance Marathon is the largest student run organization at Bowling Green State University. Students volunteer to fill various roles and raise money for a local hospital in order to benefit the children who have to spend a lot of time there for tests and stays needed for their often advanced diseases.

Students can either “dance” by remaining standing for 32 hours, morale by keeping the dancers standing, or ride bikes from Cincinnati to Bowling Green over one weekend. No matter which option students choose, it is a very emotional and rewarding experience.

Going places
Flotek recently completed the expansion of its chemical processing facility in Oklahoma. The expansion will not only boost production, but it will also lift bulk storage and blending tank capacities considerably. What’s impressive is that Flotek has also purchased land near the unit to expand storage facilities further as necessary.

Flotek isn’t focusing on domestic expansion alone. It will start shipping chemicals to Russia in a few weeks. This is a smart move simply because Russia is the largest oil producer in the world, and ExxonMobil (NYSE: XOM  ) and other oil giants have a foothold even in the remotest areas of Russia. Flotek’s products are also making their way into the Middle East and Latin American markets.

These moves should further increase the chemical division’s revenue, which more than doubled last year as higher oil prices pumped up drilling activity.

Its look like FTK is really going places. Keep watching this stock, it is going to be an interesting path too success!

For The Kids Dance Marathon at UTSA will be happening on April 13th and 14th and I’ve been busy getting ready for that.

Today the stock is clearing resistance in an 8-week consolidation on strong volume, a good place to add shares.

The unofficial closing bells put the DJIA up more than 70 points to 12,907.87 (0.55%), the NASDAQ rose more than 34 points (1.18%) to 2,970.42, and the S&P 500 rose 0.98% or more than 13 points to 1,365.91.

There were several analyst upgrades and downgrades today, including Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) reiterated as ‘buy’ with target price raised from $600 to $660 at Goldman Sachs; ARM Holdings PLC (NASDAQ: ARMH) raised to ‘overweight’ at Morgan Stanley; Qualcomm Inc. (NASDAQ: QCOM) reiterated as ‘buy’ with a $72 target price at Argus; Zynga Inc. (NASDAQ: ZNGA) started as ‘hold’ at Canaccord Genuity; and Halozyme Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: HALO) started as ‘overweight’ at Barclays.

Earnings reports since markets closed last night have led to some price changes as of the last half hour of trading today: Coldwater Creek Inc. Sunshine Heart Inc. (NASDAQ: SSH) is down more than -8% at $11.00. The medical device maker came public on February 16th, and is nearing the dreaded busted IPO line.

Zeltiq Aesthetics Inc. (NASDAQ: ZLTQ) is down more than -13% at $5.65 after posting a new 52-week low of $5.60 earlier. The medical technology company posted a dismal fourth-quarter earnings report earlier this week and has just set its second record-low of the week as well.

Over the summer I worked at Embrace Kids Foundation as a Summer Sibling. I wanted to be closer to the program and to the kids who we were raising money for, so my internship allowed me to spend every day in Robert Wood Johnson and the Cancer Institute of New Jersey. I met some remarkable people, hear some heart warming stories, and comforted some families during tough times. In the video below, you can see some of what the program is about (including a cameo of me!)

After this program commenced, I knew that I needed to be involved once again. I decided that I would pledge to dance the full 32 hours, the one thing I had not done since I first decided to join DM. I knew that no matter what I was faced with during those 32 hours, it was absolutely nothing compared to what many of these children face on a daily basis. The marathon is only 3 weeks away at this point so I will keep my readers updated with my progress. At the moment, I have raised $315, only $35 away from my goal. I need all of your help to make it! My plan to dance will not change no matter what. I have recently been going to physical therapy (and may need surgery) for a partially torn MCL, a few torn menisci, and a bone bruise in my left knee, but I will still be there, standing on my crutches if need be. Please be there will me, physically or in spirit as I dance FTK! I hope to see you there and I will keep you updated with my progress =]

RUDy Marathon

This was the new Board of Directors for 2011!

My dream finally came to fruition and I was notified of my achievement. I was to be the new Director of Recruitment. Ever since I first met Tom K, my first year as a captain, I knew that this was to be my future, and I finally made it. The rest of my Board of Directors (or BOD) was stacked with talent. Danielle did get the position of Community Outreach Director. Also, there was Julia (Volunteer Management), Mark (Finance), Elizabeth (Entertainment), Aaron (catering), and Josh (Operations). We, the board of directors, worked on a consensus based system, only approving administrative decisions if the vote was unanimous. This was very taxing at times but proved to be a great learning experience for me. We operated like a well oiled engine and we saw massive leaps and bounds while we were holding the reigns.

This is the new Central Planning team (along with the BOD) for 2011!

My new team was made up of 3 awesomely dedicated individuals. It was convenient that Recruitment always got the most excited people for our team because we needed as much excitement as possible to fill up the gym. On my team I had Becca, Kristen, and Johnny. Each one of them had 4-5 captains also making presentations around campus. We met once a week for a few hours and for the rest of the time, they were free to finish their tasks without much bother from me.

Needless to say, we did break a number of recruiting records again and we had an awesome marathon. If asked what my favorite memory of Rutgers has been these past four years, this marathon would easily win. We ran a flawless event with tours, great food, a marriage proposal, silly bandz in the shape of FTK (for the kids), an exclusive radio interview with a number of the members of the BOD and CPT, and even more money raised for the Embrace Kids Foundation than the year before. All in all, it was a remarkable experience and I had no idea how the next year could possibly beat it.

Also, Chi Psi adopted a little boy as well, Johnny, who was constantly running around the marathon. It always seemed like they had so much more energy than we ever did, which for some reason perpetually surprised me.
