WINTER POEM

It’s winter in Canada!

And the gentle breezes blow
Seventy miles an hour
At thirty-five below.
Oh, how I love Canada
When the snow’s up to your butt
You take a breath of winter
And your nose gets frozen shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I’ll hang around
I could never leave Canada
I’m froze to the friggin’ ground!

Ironically the bathroom carpet is folded up and in my bedroom because I was afraid Aleka was going to pee on it again. There was one day a week or so ago that she got mad at the cleanliness of the litter box and used this bathroom rug, instead. Now it is washed and fragranced. Hmmm…maybe now that she has bonded with it, she won’t pee on it again. One can but hope!

Today was the perfect coming together of good things I had no major owies, the van worked, I had food stamps to spend and it was a GORGEOUS warm, sunny day Not too warm, because slow spots in the river and the little ponds had a skim of ice on them. The last 2 nights were 12 degrees.

WOW! Here is something that pretty much never happens! For the NYS weather statistics for today, Saranac Lake made it to the lowest temp (as usual), but was the third highest high for the WHOLE state! I guess downstate NY is getting hurricane remnants. The high in Saranac Lake was 60. The sun was out and the sky was blue

I enjoyed going grocery shopping for myself. I hated lugging it into the apartment! Beth and Luc came in just as I brought the last of the stuff inside. Took  me a looooong time to catch my breath. I’m wimpier than usual after this last month of falling apart.

I got Zeke his absolute favorite once a month treat….a package of butcher bones. He was so busy working on them that he mostly ignored the rest of us.

For those in-the-know, is this a good price? Should I keep going to this guy? Keep in mind I live out in the boonies and the nearest WalMart is 42 miles away.
