When your child needs a new bed, you have to take into account a few factors. These factors include

When your child needs a new bed, you have to take into account a few factors. These factors include your child’s safety, the specifics of the bed and your child’s bedroom.

Your first choice for a bed may be a platform bed. The right mattress that will match the platform bed’s size and shape should be present as well. Since you plan on getting a new bed, getting the frame and the mattress at the same time can save you a lot of time and effort. You just have to select the right frame that comes with the appropriate mattress. There will be no need for you to bother about the specifics of the mattress to ensure that it will fit the frame. A lot of beds for kids are available at stores nearest you. If you wish to have a lot more choices, you may shop for a bed online. The stores on the internet can provide you with so many options. What is good about this is that you can take a look at a lot of products without wasting your energy walking from one display to another.

To ensure your child’s safety, you have to choose a bed that is well made and sturdy. You do not want the bed to be the cause of accidents in your child’s bedroom.

Determine what material the bed is made from. Hard wood can make great bed frames. However, they may be more expensive than other wooden frames. You may also consider getting frames made from stainless steel. This can be bought at an affordable price. You might be faced with problems about dust in the near future, though. Some people might also be interested in getting a wicker bed. This may be used as a temporary bed and it might not be as durable as wooden and steel beds.

Furthermore, you have to ensure that the mattress is safe. Know what materials were used to create the mattress. Check for toxic chemicals and restricted materials. Or, you may stick to famous and trusted brands. For very young kids, never choose mattresses that are too soft. This might not offer enough support for the child’s back.

Then, you have to make sure that the bed will fit inside the room. This will include taking into account the size of the bed and the style of the bed. To be sure that the bed will fit inside the bedroom, you have to take an accurate measurement of the available space. Then, compare this measurement with the dimensions of the bed. The bed’s design should complement the design of the whole bedroom. The bed’s color may also play a big part in your child’s bedroom. If you can’t get anything that has the same color as your child’s room, you may stick to neutral colors like white and gray.

If you have two or three children and they have to share a bedroom, you may opt to go for bunk beds instead of a few platform beds. Bunk beds are great space savers as they take advantage of the vertical space available in the room.

Our first shipment came in yesterday for our Kids Room Boutique also called Hung Out To Buy. It was scheduled to arrive into the warehouse today, instead it came yesterday, when I was out-of-town. I was blessed to have someone on-sight to receive the shipment. It feels like my birthday or Christmas. Opening boxes and seeing what is inside. I hopped on up the boxes and wanted to start dancing. My newest business associate, Elliot (you can read here: http://hungouttobuy.com/2012/06/26/new-to-hung-out-to-buy-meet-elliot-3/ to find out who this guy is.) grabbed his phone and shot this picture of me. If you don’t know me well, you will know one thing and that is I have no age qualifications for being very sophisticated, especially when it comes to furniture rolling into the warehouse. I also spare no expense to seeing that my exact-o knife color coordinates with my outfit. I am a designer for Pete’s sake, I better have something on or around me that works when it comes to color.

Why is this shipment so important and make me so giddy? It’s been over five years that I stepped away from designing kids’ room to invest every ounce of brain energy into a special needs boy of mine. My deaf child needed me home full-time and my full attention. I stepped away from a career I loved, and a community I love even more for that precious boy. Now, I am back at it, and that precious little Ethan is doing amazing. As a matter of fact, he is a terrific helper.

I am also giddy because my oldest son Elliot, who grew up in this business is now excited to jump in with both feet. So much that he, as giddy as I am, starts snapping pictures left and right. I had to grab my phone and take this honorable picture or Elliot inspecting our first pieces of kids room furniture going onto our showroom floor. This is very familiar to him. I look forward to a future guest blog, by Elliot to share a little of what it was like growing up in this business with his mom. As you know I love sharing the process and sharing in this first shipment of our kids room boutique.

Furniture industry sales momentum continued in September, posting a 12 percent increase from the sam

Furniture industry sales momentum continued in September, posting a 12 percent increase from the same month a year ago. Strong consumer demand drove retail sales up 23 percent year over year.

Furniture Brands International, Inc. is trading at $5.48 with 25 percent increase from August; La-Z-Boy Incorporated is $8.37 with 14 percent increase; and even though IKEA is a privately held company, the world’s top furniture retailer posted record sales in its most recent fiscal year. Chief Executive Mikael Ohlsson told Dagens Industri turnover in its fiscal year, which ended Aug. 31 rose to 23.1 billion euro, up some 7.7 percent from the previous period.

We are admittedly never completely satisfied. But it was much better than we had expected and a much better outcome keeping in mind the extremely tough business climate in many markets,” Ohlsson told the paper.

Ohlsson said IKEA wanted to grow further in Russia and China, and is keen to push into markets in South Korea and India.

This is great news for Furniture XO because we deal directly with over 45 furniture manufacturing companies. Better sales performance means a lot for our consumers because most manufacturers would offer better discounts that we pass on to you. With a holiday season fast approaching, positive sales will increase production volumes and may offer faster delivery.

More and more shoppers are feeling comfortable to buy furniture online. Regardless of bad economy in the past few years, online consumer volume is up over 23 percent just within the furniture related sectors. Here is one of the testimonials we recently received from one of our Furniture XO customers:

“Just wanted to e-mail back and say that this is the first time that we ordered a piece of furniture like this online and didn’t have any issues. We had concerns at first, but not anymore. This was a very smooth process and the product is fantastic and was shipped and packaged perfectly. We really appreciate that, we would definitely buy from you again in the future. Thank you, Jeffrey and Shannon.”

Labor Day Weekend – after many hot dogs, picnic baskets, fireworks, and family gatherings, for some

Labor Day Weekend – after many hot dogs, picnic baskets, fireworks, and family gatherings, for some that are looking to renovate and perhaps replace their rooms and things, September is a perfect month! Many furniture stores will be offering deals on their inventory. But, why is this holiday so closely related to the furniture industry?

The form for the celebration of Labor Day was outlined in the first proposal of the holiday: A street parade to exhibit to the public “the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations,” followed by a festival for the workers and their families. This became the pattern for Labor Day celebrations. Speeches by prominent men and women were introduced later, as more emphasis was placed upon the economic and civil significance of the holiday. Still later, by a resolution of the American Federation of Labor convention of 1909, the Sunday proceeding Labor Day was adopted as Labor Sunday and dedicated to the spiritual and educational aspects of the labor movement.

Traditionally, Labor Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the first Monday in September. Originally, the first day of school was also considered the first true Labor Day, and used to begin on the 1st of September in most states. However, because of the weekends, many schools have adopted different dates for the first day of school since 1968.

Furniture City: Grand Rapids, Michigan

During the second half of the 19th century, Grand Rapids became a major lumbering center and the premier furniture manufacturing city of the United States. For this reason it was nicknamed “Furniture City”. After an international exhibition in Philadelphia in 1876, Grand Rapids became recognized worldwide as a leader in the production of fine furniture. National home furnishing markets were held in Grand Rapids for about 75 years, concluding in the 1960s. Today, Grand Rapids is considered a world leader in the production of office furniture.
