We don’t always get snow this early in KY. This is only about an inch and a half to two inches or so tops. The sun came up, the snow stop falling, and all of this was gone by afternoon. Still, makes a great picture.

Ada  empat jenis golongan darah manusia. Yaitu golongan darah A, B, O ,dan AB. Kebetulan saya bergolongan darah AB, yang menurut survey para ahli, golongan darah ini baru muncul sekitar 1000 tahun yang lalu. Berarti, pada zaman puba dulu, golongan darah jenis ini, belum ditemukan dong ya?  Wah, jangan -jangan golongan darah ini baru muncul karena adanya penyimpangan genotif, antara genotif darah yang dominan di pada manusia, yaitu genotif A, B,dan Anti A, dan Anti B. Apapun itu, we’re here.

Menurut yang saya pelajari waktu SMU dulu,golongan darah AB muncul karena bersatunya genotif dominan A dan B, membentuk genotif AB. Berkebalikan dengan golongan darah O, yang jumlahnya sangat banyak di dunia ini, orang yang bergolongan darah AB hanya berjumlah 2-5% dari populasi penduduk dunia. Jadi kalau jumlah populasi penduduk dunia sekitar 6,7 Milyar, berarti maksimal populasi manusia yang bergolongan darah AB hanya sekitar 335 juta orang, yah sedikit lebih banyak dari jumlah penduduk Indonesia. Namun jumlah ini ini tersebar secara random di seluruh dunia.

Mengetahui fakta tentang sangat jarangnya manusia bergolongan darah AB, sering membuat saya terkadang sangat excited jika mengetahui ada kenalan atau teman saya yang bergolongan darah sama. Kadang secara konyol, saya membuat daftar siapa-siapa saja orang yang saya kenal yang bergolongan darah yang sama. Beruntung saya memiliki kakak laki-laki kandung yang memiliki golongan darah yang sama, Jadi jika suatu saat terjadi sesuatu, setidaknya saya memiliki calon donor darah terdekat.

Kenapa sebegitu excitednya saya dengan orang-orang yang bergolongan darah sama. Terlepas dari fakta bahwa golongan darah ini adalah minoritas, adanya fakta bahwa transfer darah belakangan ini yang mengharuskan bahwa suatu golongan darah harus berasal dari tipe golongan darah yang sama membuat keberadaan jenis golongan darah ini sangat riskan. Kalau dulu,di pelajaran-pelajaran biologi mengajarkan bahwa golongan darah AB adalah resipient murni, yang bisa menerima donor darah dari jenis golongan darah manapun, Hal ini dipatahkan oleh adanya banyak kasus terjadinya aglutinasi (pembengkakan sel darah) jika suatu  golongan darah, termasuk golongan darah AB menerima donor dari bukan golongan darah sejenis.

Saya berharap,  PMI (Palang Merah Indonesia) dan pihak-pihak pengumpul darah lainnya, diberikan apresiasi yang baik, karena peran mereka sangat besar, sebagai penyedia sumbangan darah, just in case bila terjadi sesuatu, terutama bagi kami yang jumlahnya sangat minim. tapi entah kenapa, sampai sekarang saya belum berani untuk menjadi pendonor darah, walaupun mengetahui akan banyak faedah bila melakukan hal mulia tersebut. May be someday.

Belakangan,saya sempat membaca sebuah buku tentang diet bagi golongan darah tertentu. Untuk orang-orang bergolongan darah AB, dianjurkan untuk menghindari beberapa jenis makanan tertentu , seperti produk susu, daging merah dan beberapa biji-bijian, karena adanya kecenderungan orang-orang bergolongan darah ini ,mengalami masalah pada  daerah sekitar telinga, hidung dan tenggorokan. Menurut buku tersebut,pada orang-orang bergolongan darah AB, sering terbentuk semacam lendir khas di daerah-daerah THT tersebut, yang menyebabkan daerah itu menjadi sensitif dan sering mengalami gangguan.

Saya baru sadar. Pantas saja dokter THT sering menjadi langganan saya dari kecil. Entah itu keluhan hidung, telinga ataupun tenggorokan. Terkadang, saya sering kesal, karna hidung saya sangat sensitif terhadap debu. Mencium debu sedikit,langsung bersin.wah repotnya!.  Tenggorokan saya juga sensitif terhadap makanan-makanan aneh. Misalnya minum es yang tidak bersih sedikit,langsung batuk-batuk. Begitu juga kalau makan gorengan yang minyaknya jelek sedikit, langsung deh tenggorokannya gatal. Mana telinga juga sering mendengung kalau di udara yang bertekanan rendah. Tapi kadang, sensitivitas ini sering dijadikan acuan bagi saya untuk menilai sesuatu. Contohnya saja, jika ingin tahu apakah gorengan yang dijual itu minyaknya masih bagus atau tidak, tinggal panggil saya. kalau sehabis makan,saya batuk-batuk tanpa henti, berarti minyaknya parah sekali. Hahahaha.

Saya tidak tahu apakah buku itu valid apa tidak. Karena, saya jarang bergaul dengan sesama orang-orang yang bergolongan darah sama untuk bisanmenilai kebenaran kecenderungan sensitivitas orang-orang yang bergolongan darah AB.Walaupun saya menemukan hal dan gangguan sensitivitas yang sama pada saudara kandung saya. Mungkin, diperlukan penelitian lebih lanjut untuk membuktikan hal tersebut.

Setahu saya, darah itu merupakan elemen terpenting bagi hidup manusia. Darah yang mengangkut air, oksigen dan sari-sari makanan untuk diproses dalam metabolisme tubuh manusia. Darah juga yang menjaga temperatur tubuh, mengatur asam/basa tubuh dan mencegah infeksi (antibodi). Tiap jenis golongan darah, memiliki keunikan tersendiri, dan mungkin karena mempunyai karakteristik yang sama,orang-orang golongan darah yang sejenis  memiliki karakter fisiologis, bahkan mungkin psikologis yang serupa. Bagi golongan darah AB, karena merupakan kaum minoritas di dunia ini, mungkin juga mempunyai keunikan tertentu yang menjadi karakter tersendiri yang membuat sedikit berbeda dengan yang lain. Whatever it is,,,We’re here and trying to survive!!

I have a new favorite Christmas song.  It is by a group named “DOWNHERE”.  I heard it last year several times and guess it has been out for a couple of years.  This year I haven’t heard it yet so I think I need to just order the CD and stick it in my player.  I am going to try to download it on here so that you can enjoy it too.  This is my first time to try this so bear with me.

This really spoke to my heart about the sacrifice Christ made to come to earth and the love God has for us.

Not Christmas unless you go to the Mall. Monsoon season has arrived and not a moment too soon as the word ‘drought’ has come up again. Though after 11+ inches of rain in the last 2 weeks it has eased. Rain or snow its welcome.

Yes, it’s CHRISTmas!  I love this time of year.  Everyone starts sending those email that urge you to shop at only the stores that allow their employees to say “Merry Christmas” and doesn’t require them to say “Happy Holidays”.  You get those annual Christmas Letters from your least favorite sister-in-law telling the whole world just how wonderful your entire family is and yet she misspells everyone’s name and gets most of the information wrong.  It’s the time of year you get to watch the old versions of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer and have to listen to stupid songs like “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer” and “The Bovine Christmas Album”.   Some of this seasons celebrations are wonderful and some are just plain stupid, but I do love this time of year.  I start decorating on the Friday after Thanksgiving.  No Black Friday shopping for this gal.  So far we have our outside house lights up and working and our tree up.  I have the decorations on the fireplace mantle but don’t have the 19 stockings hung by the fireplace with care.  I am trying to think of a different way to hang them up.  Last couple of years I used a piece of rope and attached them with clothespins.  I’d like something different this year but haven’t come up with any good ideas.  If you can think of a way  to display them I will be more than happy to give it a try.  I picked up a couple of new music CD’s, one is Kenny G.  I love him and his music.  I am sitting here listening to Christmas music and Coach is watching the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.  I think he is smiling more than me.

Then I stepped outside and took these of the outside lights.  Sorry they are kind of blurry but it was dang cold out there and my hands were shaking.

That’s NOT the moon shining in this photo.  It is spitting a little moisture and I think that’s a raindrop.  Here is another one and you can see it’s not shining in this one.

We have had no outside lights the past couple of years because Coach had a ladder collapse on him a couple of years ago and split his head open.  I agreed to get into the bucket of his tractor and let him lift me up to put the lights on this year.  I was scared s_____less but I did it.  It just makes me feel so good to turn the corner to my house and see it all lit up.  Now if we just had snow on the ground I would feel like it’s perfect.  This moisture we are having tonight is just light rain.  It’s getting colder so maybe I will wake up tomorrow to some of the white stuff.

It’s December 1st and I am really getting excited about the holidays.  We’ll see how I feel in another three weeks.  For now, I am dreaming of that perfect, white, Currier & Ives Christmas.  Merry CHRISTmas my dear friends!

It is with much sadness that I post here, the passing of Christopher Ritchey. His almost 2 yr battle with Lymphoma ended yesterday Dec 3rd 2009.

His mother/Loraine; an inspiration to many, has suffered the worst loss any human can imagine, the loss of her 29 year old son.

Hopefully one day she will recount the long battle they both fought against this horrendous disease, but in the meantime our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
