So fucking what? Eat shit.  No-one should care about this.  What?  You think you’re better than me because your phone is pink and mine is ordinary black?  Ignore the fact that the shitty little thing you call a mobile phone can’t browse the internet because the screen is so small, unable to do email or anything else that matters.  No.  Your phone is better because it is a different colour.  Well my phone can browse the internet, email, emulate different retro games consoles, can control my home pc when I’m nowhere near it and a bunch of other shit that now has you looking at me like a shit chucking ape because you’re too stupid to comprehend.  My phone is better.  I win.

Your kill-to-death ratio on Call of Duty.   SNORE.  I used to play this game online because I thought it involved a little more than running around, shooting people.  I thought that it involved at least some kind of brain power in (at least) basic military tactics, but alas, no.  All it boils down to is killing more than you die.  The game is full of 10 year olds that only play to exploit glitches.  The game then becomes unplayable because they’re calling in chopper gunners, harrier strikes, pave-lows, sentry guns, missiles and fuck knows what else.  They’ll ends up bragging to their mates that they finished one game with a 39 – 1 K/D ratio.  In what game mode?  Capture the flag?  How many flags did you capture? What was that?  SPEAK UP!  None?  YOU SUCK!  If you have to cheat at a game, chances are you’re fucking garbage at it.  Play something else loser.

Speaking of online gaming, your gaming tag, regardless of how clever you think it is, is of no interest either.  What is more annoying are the following types of gamertags:

1. DJ [enter random shitty name] – So what if you are a DJ?  What that means to me is you are a failed musician.  You take credit for sample sounds that no doubt someone else created, put an unimaginative generic beat in the background and call it music.  This is almost too easy.  Next……….

2. Some contraction of weed/pot/ganj – These are the types of people that put their clan tag as THC.  NEWS FLASH!  No-one thinks you are cool for smoking weed.  In fact, I have just found your email address through your profile and forwarded onto the law.  Expect a call from the police soon you moron.

3.  The girlfriend/boyfriend combo -  MikeandKim, for example.  Why are you allowing your girlfriend to share your games console?  Hell, my wife can’t even use the analogue sticks simultaneously.  Mind you, we don’t keep a tv in the kitchen so it’s not like she’ll get practice anyway.  Go into your girlfriends purse and get your balls back and stop her from using your console for fuck sake.

More inconsequential bullshit is people that claim to know a celebrity.  ‘Name droppers’.  These are the types of people that frequently mention they know someone famous, almost as an excuse to subsidise for their lack of personality.  Really, no-one should be allowed to be this boring.  People as uninteresting as this should be put down.  If I had my way, people like this would be executed by several smacks to the face using a standard garden shovel.  Why do we need to know that you know someone famous?  The top and bottom of it all is that people will only pretend to like you in the hopes that you’ll one day introduce them to your famous ‘friend’.  What a shallow existence.  Maybe you should have concentrated on being less of an uncharismatic douchebag and focused more at not sucking in life then maybe you wouldn’t have lost your true friends.  Just kidding.  You had no friends anyway.

Which is fine and more than understandable.  The pressing of buttons I mean not the bullshit about nerfs. 10% of people are in the bracket I would place myself into, where you have people who have developed a love for the game and want to know more about it, not going as far as wanting to play professionally but enjoy both the learning and the game play. I’d say that 85% of people who play fighting games are people who just like street fighter, that just like the idea of having a fighting game in their collection or enjoy the game on a very causal level, and that’s great that they enjoy it and have no desire to know more. That is where the fun of the game comes for them. The remaining 5% and I am being very generous with these ball park figures are people who do play on a competitive level. All 3 of these groups are important, but with fighting games in general at an all new high of popularity due to the street fighter 4 series’ accessibility and the manic fun of marvel v capcom 3 it is the 85% of people who we need to welcome more into this elitist community. We need to get these people to play and STAY playing and that is the hard part. How we do that is a question that I cannot really answer alone, but I think that capcom’s attempt to present a “simple mode” and input easements in both marvel 3 and street fighter 4 respectively are good attempts in doing so, and seriously every little helps.

With all that ‘heavy shit’ dealt with, I think you have earned a treat for reading this far so I’ll share some of the funnier moments and highlights from today’s play through. First off, shout outs to ‘YourGumsOnMyPlums’ who I played a few weeks back for what has to be so far the best gamertag I’ve seen for quite a while. it’s not quite ‘JesuswithaBR’ but it is still brilliant. I just want to say that I am by no means the best player in the world, only having something just over 1500pp so I am not claiming to be an expert, but you do not have to be an expect to see the funny side or even the downright wrong in something.

• Jump hard kick > Ultra from Cammy made an appearance tonight, which I loved every second of because it wasn’t by me and it actually won the match at the time. I really never saw it coming and I really doubt the guy who got hit by it did either, making this a brilliant nail-biting finisher. Good job, bro!
• A perfect finish on a Cody player who to be fair knew some decent combos which makes me think he knew what he was doing. I played this guy 7 times in a row as he was the only guy who was showing up to fight. He played well, but I think kind of crumpled under some fireball pressure from Ryu and a cheeky FADC here and there. The perfect finish on its own is not that impressive, but after 7 consecutive matches we had basically learned each others style so it was pretty satisfying to get that from a guy that likes to throw rocks are people. Hope to see you at EVO son lol jk I was I could go to EVO just to watch! I believe there was a mention of nerfage (that is right nerfage) here too…
• Playing a match and then quitting in the second round because you are not going to win is not a good idea. The guy I played did not actually leave the game but just gave up moving which to me is worse than a straight up leave session, at least see it through man!
• Lastly, I have to mention a guy who goes by the name of ‘Ghostrider GB’. The fight goes like this. We both jump back and what I like to do with Ryu is throw a few fireballs out at the start to see how a person will react, like are they going to rush down or turtle. The guy sits there at his end of the screen and focuses through my fireball. Then does the same again, and again and again until I hit him once with an EX fireball that takes all his health off and he dies in one hit…Brilliant play there, it like he was taught a new skill and then that was all he knew!

There were also a few games of MAHVEL BAYBEE! but I am very new to that, it is a completely different game and right now have no time to try to learn a new game as I have a busy few months ahead of me but I am going to try to play some street fighter maybe fortnightly, depending on schedule or at least try to update fortnightly if any good thoughts on the game or my progress goes and any views on what I wrote about the state of the game in this or my last post are very welcome as like I say these are only my views.

So for those of you who are either unaware or need a refresher on what “cloud storage” is, I’ll attempt to sum it up in as few sentences as possible! In essence, cloud storage is the ability to store files, in this case game saves and gamertags, off of the console itself, freeing up a lot of memory space! Now why exactly is this important? Well first off, on some machines, more memory directly relates to the amount of speed you get out of the device itself (a good example of this is why a computer is normally very fast when you first get it, but over time, not taking into account viruses and whatnot, the memory gets clogged up, bogging down the speed of the computer). There is also a second reason that many people seem to overlook, whether on purpose or not, that is very important to gamers. Scenario time! So say that all your saves are stuck onto one hard drive. What happens if that hard drive gets damaged somehow? You lose all the game data! So instead of risking speed and your precious game saves, you can put all of that onto the cloud storage put forth by Microsoft!

Also, the cloud storage can be used to store gamertags. This makes it SOOOOOOOOOOOO much easier to move your gamertag from console to console! Remember when it used to take forever to recover a gamertag on a friend’s console (especially if you had a lot of data to recover)? Well now those days are over! Since the data isn’t saved to a specific Xbox, you can easily and quickly download your gamertag from the cloud servers!

For anyone who is more interested in how cloud servers work specifically, I’ll be publishing another post on that topic later! For now, onto beacons!

Beacons are a relatively new add-on for Xbox Live users. They can be activated in order to let your Xbox Live friends know that you want to play a certain game with anyone and everyone who sees! It is a lot easier in my opinion compared to having to send out invites every so often to get a decent number of people into the game! Now you just “flip a switch” so to speak, and a message is shown for everyone on the new Xbox Dashboard (for those who don’t know what this is, let me refer you back to my last post).
