1. Right now, I am feeling most thankful for the comfort and safety and memories of old friends… and the comfort of new friends as they begin to fit that term.

2. I am thankful that I am finally learning to read “I love you” into the things my mother says: in the “come help with dinner,” the “drive safely” and the “buckle up”, the “want to play a game?” and the “we’ll see you next Saturday.” Sometimes I feel weird, maybe even uncomfortable, listening as other people tell their parents they love them and vice versa. I guess we just say it differently. I just have to remember to look a little deeper for it.

3. I am grateful for the bonding power of food. Sharing food with others is definitely one of the best ways to build community. I am thankful for chaotic tea nights and the stories that get told there, for the small tea nights and the conversation that gets shared, for pretzels and peanut butter, for sharing cookies from care packages, for late night steak’n’shake runs, for coffee before convo, for complaining about the food in the Rot, for how my family not only shares our meals by eating together but by eating off each other’s plates too.

4.  I’m thankful that I haven’t decided on a major yet. As stressed out as it makes me, I’m glad I’m giving myself the time to figure out what I want to do with my life. And it’s nice to not always have to know the answers –even if it’s really hard sometimes.

5. Lastly, I am thankful for how some things never change. I’m thankful that Anna still holds my hand, that Alex still grabs my shoulders when he’s being intense, that Lydia draws kites for me, that Jacob smirks when he feels to silly to smile, that Grandma Rosie always has homemade cinnamon rolls in the freezer, that Anika messes up her sentences, that everytime I see Stacy on Facebook I miss camp, that Dad always wears terribly-matched clothes, that Nicole will always be one of my best friends regardless of time and distance…  and scores of other things. As good as change can be, sometimes it’s just nice to know that some things will always be the same.

Experienced Junior hockey fans recognize the strategy.

Successful junior hockey teams across the country have been using it for a while now.

Why? Because it works!!!

In leagues where players regularly come and go, entering the league at age 16 or 17 and graduating at 20 one of the keys to building a successful franchise and winning team is to maximize your assets.

How do you they do that?

They do that by setting up their team to take a run for the championship in a certain year.  Some call it a 3 year plan, sometimes it becomes a 4 or 5 year plan.

Here is how it works:

Step 1: Teams will choose the year they want to compete for the championship.

Step 2: They will try to acquire players that will mature in that year.

Step 3: If they are in the lower half of the standings before the trading deadline, they will trade away some of their star players to teams in the upper half of the standings in order to acquire top quality rookies that will mature in the year that they will make a run for it.

Step 4: In a year or two when they are competing for the championship they will add top players from the teams in the lower part of the standings in exchange for their future stars.

This is the strategy that we witnessed Jason Brooks and the Guelph Storm use when they traded away Thomas McCollum last year.

Veteran Dan Mohle now a Cyclone

And that is the strategy Guelph Hurricanes GM Matt Mullin used when he traded two of their top players in Forwards Ken Rolph (1989 birth year) and leading scorer Dan Mohle (also 1989 birth year) to the Listowel Cyclones for two rookie Forwards Blair Goss (1992 birth year), Jake Weidner (also 1992 birth year) and Future considerations.

According to Mullin, “Not only did we give Ken and Dan a chance to compete for the Sutherland Cup, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to add 2 quality kids that will set us up nicely for the next couple of years.”

Blair Goss played the last 2 years with the Fergus Devils (Jr. C), scoring 76 pts. in 79 games, but is a big power forward 6′0″ 205 lbs. He was Listowel’s first star, scoring 2 goals in his last game.

According to the Listowel Cyclones website, “Blair Goss lead the Cyclones scoring attack with two solid strikes and did his best to help his team win with timely scoring and an energetic effort. The Fergus native is just getting his game back on track after suffering a broken ankle in summer lacrosse action.”

Jake Weidner (6′2″ 175) played AAA Midget in Grey-Bruce and is described as an excellent face-off guy and penalty kill expert.

Here was the description of how he played in his last game as a Cyclone, “Rookie forward Jake Weidner who put in another solid game on the PK and in the face – off circle. Make no mistake hockey fans; this young forward will be a dandy player in this league for seasons to come.”

And the best part is that instead of watching two senior players graduate in the next few months, we will be able to watch these two players develop over the next few seasons.

 Now that is what I call maximizing your assets.

*Note: You can see the new players Thursday night (Dec. 3rd) when the Hurricanes host the league leading Brantford Golden Eagles at the Sleeman Centre. Game time 7:45 pm.

You won’t have to wait too long to see Dan Mohle and Ken Rolph as the Listowel Cyclones play the Hurricanes in a home and home series. Friday night in Listowel and Saturday Dec. 5th in Guelph. Game time at the Sleeman Centre is 7:30 pm and remember Saturday night is “Kids Get in Free Night”, where 4 kids can get in free with every paid Adult admission.

Dead Space – Installation

1) Extract the rar’s with WinRAR, 7-Zip, or WinACE

If you get "CRC failed in file name. The file is corrupt"! error, use repair command:

Open Winrar from the Start Menu. Navigate to and select the damaged file. Click "Repair" on the toolbar

2) Mount or Burn the iso.

Mount: use the included Microsoft Virtual ROM tool,

or whatever you prefer. Then, find the new drive in "My Computer"

or

Burn: burning software has the option to "Burn from Image".

"DEADSPACE.iso" is the image.

You’ll need a Dual-Layer DVD burner and software like Nero,

plus a blank Dual-Layer DVD disk.

Mounting is faster, cheaper, and easier, but requires HDD space

Burning to Disk costs more and is slow, but gives a Hard Copy

3) Install Dead Space, (use keygen)

backup the installed "paul.dll" file.

4) Copy cracked "PAUL.DLL" over installed "paul.dll" in the folder

C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Dead Space

The download includes the RAZOR 1911 "PAUL.DLL" crack, which WORKS.

The RELOADED crack also works, but it is a cracked exe, "Dead Space.exe"

You can use either crack, but i did not try both together at the same time.

If you use the RAZOR cracked .dll, you’ll be playing the original installed "Dead Space.exe."

The reloaded cracked .exe is 19MB, up from the original’s 13MB, and runs slower.

The Beatles: Rock Band is a music video game developed by Harmonix Music Systems, published by MTV Games and distributed by Electronic Arts. It is the third major console release in the Rock Band music video game series and, like other games in the series, it allows players to simulate the playing of rock music by using controllers shaped like musical instruments. This has been the question ever since Sony came out the Playstation and Microsoft came out with the Xbox, which system is better?  Well my strong opinion is that Xbox.  Now I know what you are going to say… Well you have not played Playstation.  Well the PS2 was my 1st system and I loved it, it had all of the games that I like at the time and I would play it for hours.  But as soon as i bought my 1st Xbox, i was hooked, and the reason that I stuck with Xbox was because of Halo 2 and from then it was history haha.  Now I will not play anything but the Xbox 360,  it just has a way better game selection and I feel that the games that they have are just better quality all around.  Now i will admit that the PS3 does have better graphics, but to me that does not mean anything and I would rather play a good game with a great multiplayer than see the boogers come out of a guy’s nose just because the graphics are better.  But I want to decide, give me a reason to play PS3 and I have an open mind, so I will actually try it…if you can convince me.

Listen people, when a new gaming system or any electronics come out and are $500 or more,why do you run out to Best Buy and wait in line for 3 hours just to over pay for something that you know is going to be about 1/4 the price in about a year?  I waited a year or so to buy my XBox and got it for $200 with two games and I am glad I did because my friend got his when it first came out and it was $600!  Also, the later models of the system are going to have all of the glitches and bugs worked out of them at a cheaper price.  The 1st XBox 360s were all over heating and causing the system to produce a burn mark on any discs that you put in there.  I just hate that people rush out to buy these electronics and will probably end up buying two systems anyway because the first one broke.  My advice to consumers is to wait because it is not your job to over pay on retail, it is your job to save money and buy something that is worth the money that you think you should ( which is about a 1/3 of what the sticker price is.)

Just got done with Dragon Age Origins. One of BioWare’s greatest works of art. Though it had many unrealistic fantasy clichés, such as swords too big, strange bow designs that if they could work would be a dozen times harder to make than a regular bow, armor that is too big, and light armor that is too small… The story was fantastic! Gameplay was engaging, the choices were well planned, graphics were amazing, and the characters unforgettable. The humor moments were sound… I can’t praise BioWare enough for making this game. The long game completion time, plus all the choices, AND the character customization ensure the game has plenty of replay value. Some of the best money I have ever spent. WARRNING though. It is a mature game, and has some cussing, as well as lots of violence. The rating says M 17+ and it means it. Providing you play a good moral character it is pretty clean.

Ludum Dare 16 is coming up, the weekend of December 11-13. In case you don’t know, somehow, Ludum Dare is a solo 48-hour game development competition. The competition has been getting bigger and bigger with every iteration of the event, with the last one bringing in a total of 144 entries. If you’re not planning to participate, or if you don’t have time… I’m sad for you. I mean, it’s ridiculously fun. It’s a learning experience. It’s also filled with a bunch of people that are crazy enough to try to make a game on their own in as little as 48 hours. Lack of sleep can be an issue, too, but sleep-deprived programming sprees can really complete the experience.

Some time ago, I tried playing Mass Effect on my (dinosaur of a) PC, and it just was not playable due mainly to performance issues. I also had some problems with the control system, which made the game very difficult to play.  However, I said then that if I got a better-performing computer, I would re-play the game.

Well, that didn’t happen exactly, but I did get a new system — an Xbox 360 rather than a whole new PC (on the logic that it plays games as well as a high-end PC would, but for a good $1200 less).  Since Xbox games usually perform well on that platform by default (there is no sense in a publisher making a game that the Xbox 360 can’t play well because there is no way to realistically upgrade it), I thought it might be worth taking a crack at Mass Effect on that platform. As an added bonus, since it’s an “old” game (as the industry regards these things) it was cheap ($20). So I picked it up and tried it again on the Xbox.

To start with, it took me some time to get used to the Xbox 360 controller scheme. However, the performance was smooth as silk (as expected), and many of the problems I had noted in the PC game were either reduced or totally nonexistent. This explains why my friends, all of whom had played it on the console, were so bewildered when I posted a non-positive review of it.  Since my impression of Mass Effect on the console is entirely different from the impression I had on the PC, I felt it warranted a re-review. I am going to leave the old one up as a “PC review” but add this Xbox version so that people can get the sense of my impression on both platforms. As always, my opinions are mine, and mine alone, and are not intended to be professionally objective.

Graphics 10/10
The graphics of Mass Effect are excellent on the console.  Character design is realistic and top notch, and you won’t find much better visuals in any game on the market.  Special effects look good, and the models are well designed. There’s not much to say here other than that the graphics are excellent.  The overly “dark” feel I got from the PC version of the game was not present here… perhaps it was a monitor or video card issue.

Character Design/Development – 8/10
I like the basic way they have the character design set up.  There are classes, and each class gets access to certain types of weapon, certain armor, and certain “class skills”.  Not all skills can be learned by a given class, which some might see as restrictive. However, this is counter-balanced by the fact that there are more possible skills to learn than skill points to allocate.  Indeed after the early levels you only get 2 skill points per level, even though you will often want to allocate as many as half a dozen at the same time — which means you have to be very careful what to specialize in.  I also like that they allow you (for once) to pick your background from amongst a few choices (though these are still relatively narrow in range) and to pick your gender and so forth.  This is great stuff.  I only wish they had gone all the way and just given you the whole list of skills, and skill points, and let you specialize in whatever you wanted.  Realistically they give you enough choices with the classes and hybrid classes that you can almost do this anyway, so it is a good character creation system.  This seciton would get 10/10 if it were not for the limited looks of the characters.  They give you a lot of sliders to play with, but to be honest the sliders don’t seem to do a whole lot. And for the female models, I utterly despised almost every hairstyle they presented me with.  What is it with Bioware and hair?  I don’t think I have yet played a Bioware game where it was possible for a female character to have hair that came down past the top of the shoulders. When this happened in Neverwinter Nights I let it slide, since it was one of the first “3D” type RPGs I had seen. But this is 2008, people… there are dozens of games on the market with long hair possible, from the Sims to most MMORPGs.  Why can’t they put in some long hair options with this game?  The other problem with the look is typical of most loot-based RPGs, of which this is definitely one — the look of my character is determined by what has good stats, not by what looks good on her. This is always frustrating to me.  So, these guys get a 9/10 for stat customization, and 7/10 for look customization, which I’ll average out to net them an 8.

Game system – 8/10
The game system of a CRPG is the equivalent of a table-top game’s combat and adventuring (as opposed to charcter design) rules.  This is things like how to-hit is resolved, how damage works, and the like. I found to be relatively well done.  One thing becomes very clear after my full play-through on the console: this game was designed for the console, not the PC, and the PC adaptation is not as smooth as it could have been.  The controller buttons are intuitive and easily grasped, and I had no real problem managing the system.  I often quibble when RPGs use what amounts to my reflexes in place of my characters, and Mass Effect does this, no doubt. But it is done in a way that does not overly offend my sense of roleplaying. Overall, using the tight controller setup, I found the game system to be solid. It’s not a home run, but it’s not the foul tip I thought it was on the PC. It’s a solid lead-off double, I’d say.  I’ll point out here that I intuited this in my PC review, where I said “some of this could have been mitigated by the interface, which instead is clunky and, in my opinion, hard to use.”  Clearly I was right — with the better interface of the Xbox control scheme, the issues were mitigated, earning the Xbox version of the game 2 rating points over the PC in this category.

The game system doesn’t include just combat, however, and about half of it is conversation and investigation.  This end of the game is quite well done, as it is in most Bioware offerings.  The combat itself may be hyperactive, but it is punctuated by long periods of thinking and dialogue. You get charm and intimidate skills that will open up conversation options for you, allowing you to get more done without having to fight all the time.  This part saves the game system, in my view, for without it I would have rated it much lower.

Role-Playing – 10/10
For a single-player RPG, you will not find one that has a more sophisticated and interesting role-playing element.  You get to make all the important choices for your character. Their conversation interface is quite nice — a modification of the old system Bioware used to use. The old way, you would be presented with numbered options showing exactly the text your character will speak.  In Mass Effect, instead, you are given a circular “dial” where a very few words summarize what you will say, and then the character asks the question in a more verbose manner.  For example, an option might be “ask about job”, and when you select it, your character would say something like, “So what do you do on this space station, anyway?”  I like this better than the old system, because it allows you to be entertained by both your character’s statements, and the NPCs’ statements, since you don’t know exactly what the words will be.  Also, there is far less “text clutter” on the screen this way, and the game plays much more like a movie than the older Bioware games did.  Clearly, as with any CRPG, you’ll mainly be following a pre-set path, but you do have choices all along the way, and those choices affect how your character is seen by others.  They have two progress bars similar to the “light” and “dark” side bars in KOTOR, called here “Paragon” and “Renegade”, and the game will track your decisions and score you in each area.  Making choices that are illegal or morally questionable will raise your “renegade” score, whereas making choices that are ethical and legal will raise your “paragon” score.  Thus, you get to choose whether your character is a rule-follower, rule-breaker, or somewhere in between, and the game adjusts as you  make these decisions.  Once again Bioware has created a game with excellent roleplay potential for something that is a solo game.  Nobody does it any better than these guys, and that’s still true today.

Performance 10/10

I’m not entirely sure “performance” is an appropriate category on a console, since those games and systems are designed to work “right” much more so than a PC. However, I suppose Bioware could’ve so overdesigned this game that it brought even an Xbox and a high-def TV to their respective knees. However they did not. The performance on the Xbox is outstanding. It’s so much better than the PC version that it’s like they’re not even the same game. The unbearable “loading” issues from the PC did not exist on the console (loading happened very rarely and was quick when it did). The frame rate was constantly high, leading to super-smooth game-play. There were no glitches in the game at all.

Sound 8/10
The music is excellent, and the voices are, as usual in a Bioware game, well acted.  I was thrilled to find that they finally gave the main character (your character) a voice as well this time — in the past,your character was the only silent one, which seemed odd to me.  However, there is some sort of a problem with the way voices are done out of conversations.  The volume seems to be set differently for these (and to be unalterable), and to be at a much softer level.  This would not be too bad, except that sometimes as you finish a conversation, it will exit you out of the conversation “zoom” window, and the last line of the converstaion spoken by the NPC will be drowned out.  If this contains important quest information, you’ve got a problem.  I’m not sure why it did this, but it was a problem on both the Xbox and the PC.  I marked them down for this — it’s sloppy and should not have been necessary.

User Interface – 9/10

The UI for the Xbox is so much better than for the PC that it is like night and day.  The ATV, so impossible to control using mouse/keys on the PC, was easily and intuitively controllable on the Xbox (at least, for me).  The squad controls (for your NPC helpers) are much faster and easier to use on the Xbox, and I found myself actually using them (a lot) there, whereas I was ignoring them on the PC because I found them too hard to use. My only quibble is the radial menu for doing special moves or swapping weapons. I found it very difficult to pick the one I wanted easily. The cursor kept hopping too far one way then too far back the other way when trying to make my selections. The game is paused when doing this so it’s not a huge deal — you hold it in pause until you manage to corral the cursor where you want it. But it shouldn’t be necessary to fight with the left stick on the controller — basically the “trim” for this part of the interface needs to be adjusted. I marked them down a tad for this, since it’s sloppy, but otherwise the interface on the Xbox is intuitive and usable. Much better than the PC version.

Fun – 10/10
In my PC review, I said, “There’s no doubt that Mass Effect has the skeleton of a good game here.”  Oh how right that was.  The “skeleton” was there, as well as the meat, skin, hair, nails, and organs. It’s a solid, fun game, on the Xbox 360. The problem is that only the skeleton is apparent on the PC — which is why I rated the PC so poorly.  On the Xbox, I had a blast with this game, and couldn’t stop playing it some nights, even when it was time for bed. I powered through it in just over 2 weeks of hard play, and I didn’t manage to do every single side-quest. It’s well worth a re-play to try the different classes/options… and was amazingly fun. Far more fun than the PC version, which was an exercise in frustration.

Overall – 9.1/10
When you average all the scores, we end up with an A- for this game — 9.1 out of 10.  This is my highest rating yet on this blog, and I think Bioware deserves it.  The console version of Mass Effect can proudly take its place along side masterpieces like  NWN, KOTOR, and Jade Empire as “must play” games.  If you like Bioware games, or just like RPGs in general, Mass Effect for the Xbox 360 is a great offering, and is worlds better than the PC adaptation. My advice: Just steer clear of the PC version of this game and you’re good to go. Get the Xbox version (especially now that it is cheap!).

Ummm, what happened to ol' Saint Nick?

Back in 2007, Techland (Call of Juarez & CoJ:Bound in Blood) announced a zombie game for the 360/PS3/PC platforms entitled ‘Dead Island’. Well, it’s now two years later and it’s still “shambling along” according to the company’s international brand manager, Blazej Krakowiak. The game is situated on, you guessed it- an island. Apparently, you are on a vacation retreat with your wife when she disappears and the entire island gets infested with zombies. The graphics engine used on the CoJ franchise is serviceable. Bound in Blood was no ugly redheaded stepchild by any means and it received favorable reviews. Razor and I played the first game and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The most intriguing aspect of Techland’s zombie game is that it boasted real-time skin/flesh damage. The game is an FPS survival horror genre and it’s bound to rise out of the grave soon. The official website is still under construction, so they definitely haven’t shelved it. I’ve been following this game ever since it was announced way back when. The zombie fan in me just couldn’t resist.

So what would you do if you and three friends were left behind by the helicopters that were suppose to save you with 10 million zombies?  Well i would get the closest handgun I could reach and load up on ammo.  Well this is exactly what this game is about, you and three people have to catch up with the helicopters that will take you to safety.  This game is way better than the 1st Left for Dead in many ways.  First off, the weapon selection is way for in-depth than the 1st game, in this game you can get silenced assault rifles, bazookas, and anything that you can grad to defend yourself.  The premise of the game is about the same, kill the zombie hoards and get to the safe room to re-supply and start the next slaying of zombies that want to eat you.  This is great game if you have three friends over and have nothing to do.  It is really to pick up and can provide you with a couple hours of fun.  I would recommend getting this game because the plot of the game is really simple, but sometimes simple is nice and will actually  be worth more than you think.

Since my kids survived their hair cuts gash-free, didn’t drown at their swimming lessons, and suffered only minor rug burns at a gymnastics-themed birthday party, I decided to try harder to inflict pain. So, I took them to get their H1N1 shots.

True to my haphazard approach to parenting, I didn’t come prepared. No snacks, no games, no distractions for the line-up. I was spinning plates to entertain two five-year-olds already hyper from chocolate birthday cake.

We begin Operation Distraction by playing Eye Spy. Now, I’m pretty proud of William and Vivian’s progression on this game. We started playing it as a stuck-in-traffic diversion when they were two-years-old; I’d give challenging clues like, “I spy…mommy.” And magically, both kids would point at me. Not exactly the Harvard version. Standing in that dim hospital hallway, we graduate to colours. It all goes swimmingly; as we inch forward, new posters and doors offer colourful possibilities. Soon, however, the line slows and the options dissipate. It’s William’s turn. “I spy something black,” he says. I follow his eyes. He’s staring at the boy in line behind us, who’s from the Sudan. His mom and I had chatted earlier. Rather than deal with political correctness, I say, “Let’s play rhymes.”

“Name one word that rhymes with car.”

“Star,” Vivian says, eyes shining.

“Bar,” says William, as if he knows where I’d rather be.

“Here’s another one,” I say. “Tell me a word that rhymes with truck.” You know where this joke’s going without the punch line. It falls in the mommy’s-not-too-swift category.

We progress to Simon Says. After I jump up and down for half a minute, a nurse utters that beautiful word, “Next.”

We walk to Station 12 in the final row. Vivian opts to go first. It seems like a good idea until she sees the needle laying-in-wait on the table. Then she starts screaming, “No, mommy, no!” I attempt to wriggle up her sleeve, but it’s too tight. Great. More clothes that don’t fit. And I wonder why she looks vaguely homeless.

“You’ll have to remove her shirt,” the nurse says. So, I twist it off and snag Vivian’s glasses in the process.

The nurse gives me proper gripping instructions: sit Vivian sideways on my lap, pin her right arm between my back and the chair, and hold her left arm down with my other hand. William watches the entertainment unfold before him. Vivian catches a glimpse of the needle again, approaching her arm. She screams, “I’m not ready yet!” Her enunciation and volume cause all stations to pause.

H1N1, Take Two. Vivian goes into a back arch that nearly catapults her over the table, while screaming “I need another minute!” She’s got some serious potential as a B Horror Film actor if her career as a one-girl-craft-factory doesn’t work out.

H1N1, Take Three. She sees it coming. Her eyes are wild and she’s bucking like a bull-rider at the rodeo. The nurse grips Vivian’s bicep. She means business. Vivian screams, “Didn’t you hear me? I said I need another minute!”

And the needle sinks into Vivian’s flesh. A shriek echoes throughout the gym. There is a silence underneath the scream as all eleven stations have once again stopped to watch the freak show. I scan the gym, making eye contact with them all. No sense pretending this isn’t my kid.

William, transfixed by his sister’s episode, is a postscript to the whole thing. He sits still, watches the needle pierce his epidermis, and whispers, “Ouch.”

When we get home, my husband asks, “How did it go?”

Vivian answers, “It was fine, Daddy.”

For those of you who don’t know what Guild Wars is, then I’ll explain.

Guild Wars is a game by ArenaNet. Its been out since 2005 but still holds on strong. It has its own official wiki, and is a CORP (Competitive Online Role-Playing Game). This is different from MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). Which means its much different from its largest competitor World Of Warcraft, or the new player on the block Aion.

What makes the game unique is that you get your own version of the world to play in. Which means you don’t have to wait for loot to drop, you can play in peace. Although major towns where you organize your adventure are still social so it’s not all lonely.

The beauty of Guild Wars.

Guild Wars is always full of color.

It also has its dark moments.

It can get cold at times to.

It also has areas inspired by Asia.

Although its 4 years old it still amuses the eyes.

There is also special events. (Lucky/Unlucky Chance Rings)One of the Guild Wars Towns (Temple Of Balthazar)

The areas are huge.

Yes there is magic in Guild Wars.

Guild Wars has a very long plot. (200+ Hours over 4 games).

There is 3 campaigns, 1 expansion pack, and 1 DLC (Download Content). (Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, Eye Of The North, and the Bonus Mission Pack).

What also makes it unique is that its free to play. After you buy the games ($10-$40 ea) the game is then on free. Which means it has no subscription. This model has attracted a lot of players (over 5 million). There is also a FREE trial if you want to get into the action before you buy the game.

The game is divided into 2 versions. PvE (Person Vs Environment), and PvP (Person Vs Person).

PvE is most of the game. You can play missions, dungeons, explore, chat or collect titles.

PvP is just how it sounds it’s you vs another person or persons. Its divided into AB (Alliance battles), GvG (Guild vs Guild), Codex Arena (Was before Team Arenas, and Hero Battles), Fort Aspenwood/Jade Quarry, Random Arenas, and Hero’s Ascent.

So really, there is a reason Guild Wars is almost a 4GB file…it has a vast amount of content that can keep you busy for months or even years.

Guild Wars 2 (Wiki, Official Site) will be coming out in 2010/2011 and will be the next version of Guild Wars, so check back when it’s released.

All I have to say is that this game is awesome.  I’ve been playing it for about 2 or 3 weeks and it is one of the best games I have played.  The only concern that I could see a parent or someone having is that this game is ultra realistic to the point where I almost feel like that I am actually in one of the war we are fighting now-a-days.  It kind of gave me an insight to what the men and women have to go throught over there in order to keep our freedom alive and well.  So I’ll just give a shout out to them now…great job and hope to see you home soon.  But back to the game, it has everything that a gamer would want.  Great variety of weapons, great campaign mode, and multiplayer levels that do not get boring easily.  In the multiplayer playlist, they even have one mode where you paly the 3rd person perspective which gives an awesome twist to the live part of the game.  There is also a mode in the game called special ops. where you are part of a select unit that goes in and has to complete certain missions that only can be done by these guys.  The only complaint that I have about this game is that you cannot drive vehicles in the online mode, but you can drive ski-doo and tanks in the  campaign which is also really realistic and pretty fun to do.  This is the 6th game in the series and I cannot wait for more to come.

Introduction

Assassin’s Creed is a dynamic action game with stealth elements released in November 2007. It was an ambitious project, developed by Ubisoft Montreal, which offered several reasons of interest. However, the software company that until now had not missed a shot (series Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell) we were expecting a masterpiece without crystal defects, and probably with Assassin’s Creed was not the case.

The game was suffering, in fact, little variety, since, although the player was acting in an open-ended explorable world at will, how to make the murders were repeated and because there was a major evolution of the gameplay with continued adventure. Assassin’s Creed suffered much of this range, though it is still an interesting game for the careful reconstruction of the Middle East and the cultural level, which proposed, due to the presence of characters that actually exist and the reference to historical events that have happened in reality.

The former have the formal power, while the latter are rebelling against the state of things crystallized over the decades, since the Templars were commanded to Earth since the Middle Ages to today, while remaining hidden behind the various governments.

If the ancestor of Miles in reconstructing memories in the first chapter was the ruthless murderess Altair in Assassin’s Creed II is a young boy of seventeen dedicated to the pleasures of life. It’s called Ezio Auditor and is part of a wealthy Florentine family linked to the Medici, who hold the power of the city. Ezio is involved in a plot against the Medici organized by the Pazzi family. His father tries to oppose the plot, who turns out to be hatched with the help of the Church and the Knights Templar, and this is assassinated in the early part of the game.

The assassination of his father and brothers, Ezio makes a furious threat to all of Tuscany before and throughout the medieval Italy then. Ezio, with the help of other members of the rebellion, including family friend Leonardo Da Vinci, will avenge his father and begins to commit a series of murders that took him to the crest of power, ie up to the pope, the Spaniard Rodrigo Borgia, a character really existed and became pope in 1492 under the name of Alexander VI.

The plot moves first from Florence in the Tuscan countryside, where they will set some missions, to arrive later in Venice and Rome. Italian cities are built with great care and even if you are not a huge number of polygons very high. This makes them very detailed and so enjoyable to explore and see. The main components of Assassin’s Creed II, as in the predecessor, it is precisely the one plaftforming, with the main character jumping over the rooftops, which makes it possible to admire the city from above. While Florence and Venice are constructed on a large scale of Rome is only the Vatican.

Various structures that actually exist have been reproduced in Assassin’s Creed II. Ezio while walking through the streets of various cities you meet the locals, some of which are expressed as the local dialect. They speak of processions, of incidents involving celebrities, politics, or simply trying to sell their wares. Also, are dressed in clothes of the period and from this point of view there is great variety because each one has its own specific dress. The AI is not finished so that each citizen does his life with their work and their jobs, but the overview of the medieval world of Assassin’s Creed II is equally engaging.
