If you want to buy a PS3 for yourself, a relative and/or a friend, tomorrow (Black Friday) may be the best starting day to get one, according to Sony. On a post published yesterday on PlayStation.Blog, it was announced that the company has made deals with many retailers in order to offer the console with 2 free games (and in some cases, the addition of a Blu-ray movie). You should pay attention to your favorite stores’ newspaper ads and web sites today. The following is just a small list:

Before the crowds of people line up at Best Buy, Wal Mart, and other stores (in Fresno those two will be the BIGGEST) on Thanksgiving (because who wakes up at 2AM anymore, let’s just camp out at the store the night before!) Before hitting up Quiznos for a delicious sammich last night, I browsed through the GameStop next door for a few minutes. So many DS games, so many that I want to play and experience. I left the store empty-handed, but not before overhearing the following conversation:

Customer: How’s Modern Warfare 2?
Cashier dude: Fucking sick. Shit’s like…fuck, man. Sick.
Customer: Yeah? Sweet.
Cashier dude: But I gotta be honest with you. Assassin’s Creed II is killing it. I didn’t think it would, but it’s killing it.
Customer: You’re lying.
Cashier dude: It’s good, man. They fixed it. Like ten people traded in Warfare today for it.
Customer: Oh. Is it sick?
Cashier dude: No, I’m fine.
Customer: No, the game.
Cashier dude: Oh, yeah? Warfare’s sick.
Customer: …

Yup.

That said, despite having some qualms with Assassin’s Creed, my interest in Assassin’s Creed II is growing. If only it wasn’t $59.99 though. Money, you do not make things easy.

(Q14).  In this weeks blog I have been asked to find some key phrases for my chosen website GameStop.  Out of all the possible key words I need to find twelve that most accurately describe my chosen site.  To help me with this search I will be using various search tools provided by Google, most notably:

• Google Search Based Keyword Tool
• Google Insights for Search
• Google AdWords Keyword Tool

Using these search options I hope to be able to pick twelve key phrases for GameStop.

Using the search based keyword tool I typed my chosen site into the search and clicked submit to view the results.

The page that is displayed list various words or phrases that are found on GameStop’s website.  The list mostly contains products from different brands that are available through the GameStop website and cannot really be considered ‘key words’ for GameStop itself.

The second tool that I am going to use is Google Insight, this is a helpful tool to find information on which countries search for your chosen term the most.  Once I typed GameStop into the search I was able to see straight away the countries that search for GameStop the most.

The third and final tool I used from Google was Google AdWords Keyword Tool.  This tool was more helpful than the last two as it actually complies a list of suitable key phrases for the website that you put into the search, and list each into different categories with various sub-categories.

This was more helpful than the other tools as it sorted each category by how relevant the information was to the website and also how much that particular phrase or word has been searched recently.

Capcom announced today that Lost Planet 2, the highly-anticipated sequel to Lost Planet, just got more awesome. Fans that pre-order Lost Planet 2 at GameStop locations in North America will be able to unlock Resident Evil’s most famous character, Albert Wesker, as an exclusive playable skin when they play Lost Planet 2. Es ist soweit Leute, lange habe ich drauf gewartet (und ich hoffe ihr auch sonst war die letzte Woche voll fürn Arsch) und nun ist es endlich soweit, Assassins Creed 2 steht seit heute in den USA zum Verkauf! Ich habe meine Bestellung bei Spielegrotte übrigens storniert… mir ist das nichts, ich hols mir lieber selbst und hab derbe Glücksgefühle während ich an der Kasse dafür bezahle und es endlich MEIN ist =)

Ich hab grad mal Mails an alle Händler in meiner Nähe geschrieben, mal schaun ob da einer dabei ist der heute verkauft, Saturn meinte jedenfalls schon das sie erst ab dem 18ten verkaufen werden. Naja mal sehen, wenn nicht kann ich auch noch einen Tag länger warten, ist ja nicht so als hätte ich nicht genug zu tun, denn da kam ja nun erst Torchlight, Dragon Age Origins und Modern Warfare 2 raus. Ausserdem wollte ich ja noch Risen und Need for Speed Shift durchzocken, was ich, schande über mein Haupt, immernoch nicht getan habe. …a lot can change.  Well, maybe not a lot can change, but few, MAJOR things can.  Cosmetology school isn’t what I thought it would be. My teachers, a lot of my classmates… they all feel that being a cosmetologist is their calling — it’s what they were BORN to do.  Not for me. I wasn’t born to do this.  I’m a slow, meticulous/analytical worker, and that just doesn’t mix well with the fast-paced environment that is cosmetology.  I’d rather just be the model in the chair, not the stylist doing it all. =/ It appealed to me because it was quick education and it had the potential to pay a lot.  These things really don’t matter at all if it doesn’t make you happy.  So, yeah, I’m going to drop out…. there’s no point in sticking through with something that I really don’t want to keep doing! :T

I really just want whatever I end up doing to make a difference in this world and to push our society forward.  I love to help people, and I even feel like I’m good at helping people feel good about themselves.  I want to be a good role model, someone to look up to.  I’ve wanted to be a teacher for as long as I could remember — I always figured it’d be my “back up” if modeling never took off.  I wanted to be a model so that I could be famous, and be a real (good) role model for all the girls and women out there, even try to bring awareness to some issues I genuinely think are overlooked (animals, global warming).  If I’m famous, then I’d probably have some $$$, then I could donate and just help the world.  I don’t know how many times my mom has said to me, “Megan, you can’t carry the weight of the world on your shoulders.” but I want to, I feel like I can; I feel that God gave me the strength and ability to do that for others since sometimes they can’t carry their own.  I feel like I could teach the world to love a little bit more than it does. =)

I never did an update about Halloween (FAVORITE HOLIDAY EVER!) and even though it wasn’t even a month ago, it feels like it’s been FOREVER since all the stores and everything are already hyped up about Christmas!!! WTF!  Let me enjoy Thanksgiving, THEN you can put up your Christmas sh~t.  I love Christmas, a lot, but I hate how retail rushes it out so quickly.  It’s bleh…

I was surprised with the turn out, but it was a lot of fun!!  It was very nice to see some people I hadn’t seen in a while.  I really wish I could’ve spent Halloween with my friends in Cali, but maybe next year…! =(

I recently got a seasonal/part-time job at Gamestop at the mall next to where I live.  It’s so much fun so far, my managers are awesome and the work is nice and laid-back.  I’m sure my opinion will be different during Black Friday, but I’m kind of expecting the worst with that since I’m in retail and all We shall see!

Jonathan and I have been able to spend more time together the past couple weeks, at least it feels like it.  We’ve just been going out and doing more stuff!  We recently bought Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2 which is just f@#%ing amazing!!! If you played the first one, or your boyfriend loves the CoD franchise (or if you love it), GET IT.  It’s totally worth it!  We saw Law Abiding Citizen (amazing! Love Gerard Butler…) and Zombieland! (hilarious!).  We were going to see 2012 Friday night… but the only showing that wasn’t sold out was an 11:55pm showing and I had school the next day.  Has anyone seen it yet?? Thoughts?

This nerd has some balls, but what is he going to do with all those copies? Craigslist? Ebay? I can’t wait to see what happens in the next few days…

Gamestop has broken street dates for both Assassin’s Creed 2 and Left 4 Dead 2.

Specifically in the Jersey City area.

Furthermore, Gamestop Management authorized it.

The last week has been a big week for Playstation 3 owners.  At the end of last week, Streaming Netflix came to the PS3.  On Tuesday, Modern Warfare 2 released.  Naturally, I have participated in both events and here are my thoughts:

• Netflix on the PS3 is just plain awesome.  Watched my first movie as soon as I received my disk in the mail and the picture quality was great.  It looked like I had a regular DVD playing.  You can also surf the movies available, rate movies and pretty much everything else Netflix owners know and love.  The Streaming Netflix on the PS3 has great functionality along with a great picture.  A must have for all Netflix and PS3 owners.
• Modern Warfare 2 launched at midnight Tuesday morning.  With what was the biggest pre-order for a game ever for Gamestop, there were lines out the doors.  With 4200 Gamestops opening their doors at midnight, that meant for big crowds all over the country.  I attended an opening in San Diego and there were at-least 200 people there waiting to pick up their copy.  This was a pretty big attendance considering how many stores within a 10 mile radius were having midnight openings.

• So by guestimation 200 people per store, and 4200 stores means roughly 840,000 people picked up a copy of their game at midnight.  This seems relatively accurate as almost 700,000 people were playing online on the Playstation Network at 1am pacific time.
• As for the game, it is one of the best games ever.  I’ve only played the campaign for a few minutes but the first two missions were intense and a lot of fun.  The multiplayer is somehow better than in the original Modern Warfare (which is an impressive feat)
• On a more disappointing note, on Wednesday the PS3 dedicated servers went down for a few hours (thus why I played campaign), they got them back up relatively quickly.
• The party system sucks in MW2.  You can’t meet up with friends.  This is supposed to be fixed with a patch on Friday.  I have to say the two previous problems (server being down and no partying) is quite annoying.  But, I give Activision a lot of credit for their quick response.  This is the kind of attention Gen Y wants (needs).  Way to know your target audience.
• There was another announcement this week saying that Twitter, and Facebook are coming to XBox360 and the PS3.  The two systems are clearly really trying to diversify.

So that’s about it for the PS3 update.  For all you out there who aren’t into the gaming systems remember one thing:  The days of “gaming systems” are over.  Now they are “entertainment systems”.  Marketers need to take note of the functionality of these devices and potentially how they can help them with their marketing in the future.

GameStop’s tentacles are wrapped pretty tightly around most of the games industry, the exception being downloadable content that’s sold after a game is released.

That’ll change early next year, when the retailer will begin selling digital game downloads through its stores. A report from Reuters doesn’t explain in detail how this will work, but my understanding is that you pay at the store and supply GameStop with your Xbox Live Gamertag or your Playstation Network user name, and the content will be ready for download when you get home.

Boxed retail games aren’t dead yet, so you’ll still have reason to visit GameStop in the first place. The retailer hopes that by visiting the store, you’ll learn about new content that might’ve flown under your radar — say, additional multiplayer maps for Modern Warfare 2 — and instead of reminding yourself to buy it once you’re home, you can just make the transaction right there.

The problem is that GameStop’s plan doesn’t add value for the buyer. It’s nice to be reminded that map packs are available, but that doesn’t make the store any less of a middleman. This is an issue the retailer will increasingly have to deal with as more people get their gaming content online instead of at the store.

For now, I’d suggest that GameStop get creative with how it sells downloadable content. Maybe it can work with publishers on selling all-you-can-eat passes, entitling you to all a game’s extra content in exchange for one up-front payment. Everyone wins: GameStop gets the extra revenue, the publishers feel safe knowing you won’t immediately trade the game back, and you get a discount. Or maybe the retailer can simply lure people into the store by with launch parties for the new content. That’s at least a service that isn’t being duplicated at home, and avoiding redundancy is GameStop’s best bet, now and in the long haul.

Paul raines director de operaciones de las tiendas Gamestop en la pasada conferencia Digital BMO Capital Management’s Entertainment en nueva York hablo sobre su reciente plan para el contenido DLC descargable.

Paul raines asegura que con este movimiento el mercado digital crecerá ya que planean distribuir DLC por medio de compra directa en las tiendas de Gamestop algo parecido al código de descarga que viene en Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 en la compra de la edición de colección de este.

Dicho movimiento planea dar comienzo el próximo año así que si un comprador  compra un juego tiene la posibilidad de comprar también los addon donde los empleados de Gamestop le otorgaran un código de descarga exclusivo para ser introducido en la Psn Store.

Bueno, como muchos sabreis, poco a poco se va afincando una nueva competidora de la cadena de videojuegos GAME, anteriormente conocida como Centro Mail, esta empresa es GameStop.

Es fácil leer en opiniones en muchos foros acerca del trato, ofertas que dan y demás menesteres a usuarios como nosotros, en muchos casos molestos y en otros no tanto.

Bien, quien esté interesado por como funciona dicha cadena o por si alguien frecuenta esta cadena, para eso se ha creado este Blog, que sepan de donde viene cada atención, cada pregunta, cada ofrenda de “oferta”.

Poco a poco se irán subiendo detalladamente lo que se ofrece y lo que hay realmente detras de todo eso.
