Ubisoft has been around for a long time. As far back as i can remember gaming. Ive always enjoyed their products in the past. however recently I cannot say the same. They’ve take great series and turned them into average ones, simply by trying to hard to innovate. The games are filled with great idea that are culled by poor execution or lack of polish in other areas. Ubisoft has the right idea which is why I continue to support them they’re constantly looking to improve, however they need to try and take baby steps before taking leaps and bounds. Lets look at some examples.

Far Cry 2
Innovative Ideas
-Dynamic Changing Story
-Open world with a large scale
-game mechanics (guns breaking down,side quests,animals,ect)

Bad Execution
-story progression was terrible
-world wasnt truly open and instead broken into sections with respawning enemies
-most of the ideas simply werent fun. they were only good in theory

so FC2 had the potential to be one of the best and most engrossing FPSs of all time, yet failed and fell on its ass. hopefully ubisoft can correct these things and improve upon the core formula for FC3 and deliver the experience FC2 should have been and then some.

Assassin’s Creed

Innovative Idea’s
- Parkour to get around
- open world

Poor Execution
- Got Boring after a while, and failed when it came time for precise jumps
- Better than FC2 but still it was pointless when you had to start at the fucking mountain base every mission.

Well, you’re probably wondering why i have zero posts about Modern Warfare 2. This is because I have been playing it, non-stop. It is, hands down, the best multiplayer ever. If you haven’t purchased it yet, you can snag it on Amazon here.

Good news everyone, Fable ….aka “the game that is almost the greatest RPG ever but it’s always something that throws it off….oh yeah its too short” has just began to promote its newest installation, Fable 3 (great title huh?).  You know what that means?  That’s right, another 10 hour game that could be 12 hours if you really really push it, or possibly 13 and a half if you find all the hidden items….Hopefully this game will take longer then it took you to read this paragraph….Enjoy!!!!!!

There have been incredible advances in video games in the past decade, with stories rivaling those found in films, deep, complex characters, elaborate design and even some amazing soundtracks. They have truly become an art.

But if there’s one thing that always gets in the way of art and that’s money. When the game is developed with cash in mind instead of design, there’s sure to be trouble. Which is probably why most video games based on movies tend to be terrible: they’re rushed into development to meet the height of movie-related hype and the emphasis is on clearing out the stock before word can get out about just how terrible it really is.

Which brings us to this video, which I recently found after researching some truly terrible games on Wikipedia. It’s a hilarious Top 10 List of the very worst movie games ever made, from Catwoman to E.T. and beyond. It just goes to show you what can happen when the Almight dollar trumps the development team’s interest.
