“Bihar” is derived from “vihar,” meaning  monastery. Bihar is divided into 9 divisions and 37 districts, and has Patna as its capital. The economy is mainly based on agricultural and trading activities. Bihar is important as the land where Lord Buddha (founder of Buddhism), spent most of his life.

Main Rivers are Kosi , Gandak , Sone and Ganga. Rice, sugarcane, oilseeds, gram, maize, jute, barley and wheat are cultivated in Bihar.
