I know it’s been a while since i posted but i have been so busy with work as we are all getting ready for Christmas! It’s going to be mental this year! People are already going crazy , shopping wise, quite a lot of things on my wish list that i wanted to buy online are now officially sold out. I guess my taste in clothes is quite popular and mainstream, i never thought it was but it must be since quite a lot of clothing items i spotted about a month ago and added to my wish list are now OUT OF STOCK! I hate that went it happens!  I will just have to wait until they stock up again and keep an eye out. I can’t wait for Christmas-it’s my favorite time of year! I just love all the decorations, the family reunions and the shopping!!! I have been saving up for a while now so i can afford Xmas presents for family, friends and me! This are the presents i bought so far, luckily my family and friends don’t have any idea about my blogs so they won’t read this! These are the gifts i bought so far…

The military look may have started to fade out but lately it’s had a bit of a second wind spurred on by our celeb of the moment, Cheryl Cole, who chose a military theme for her Fight For This Love single.

Ok c’est le gant de Michael Jackson, mais plus de 300 000$. La compagnie qui a fait le gant ne vaut pas autant!

Gant visade upp sin nya kollektion på Hotel Skeppsholmen i Stockholm den 17 November 2009 i samband med Sthlm fashion week. Den passade verkligen in i den nya hotellmiljön på Hotel Skeppsholmen, en helt suverän kollektion väl värd en närmare presentation av företagets återförsäljare.

I pulled this out of The Times last Friday as it literally jumped off the page at me. Granted it was largely due to the gorgeous pink bag prominently placed (and the obvious focus of the composition), but on closer inspection the ad really appealed to me. And Gant is not a label I either love or know at all well.

On further research, Gant sells itself as ‘American-style clothing with a European flair’. Sounds a lot like the sort of label that I would love. Some persistence was required with their website – the main site took an age to load and the UK version that Google points you to appears to be completely defunct – but I was dead keen to find that bag.

Being Miss Americana that I am, I’m surprised this brand is no new to me. The main site is currently re-directing to a special 60-year anniversary version, which tells a very American Dream story about the formulation of the brand and its traditional heritage. That said, it has next to nothing of the product to display, so I took the call to action in the advert and visited www.GantUK.com.

But still that elusive bag escapes me. Unfortunately the only versions of the Leather Chelsea Handbag available online (for £219.00 by the way) are black and red. No pink in sight.

The reason the ad stood out so significantly to me was because it seemed so unseasonal. Look at the weather, the pastel shades, the picture perfect couple out on a summertime drive. But unseasonal though it may have been, it provided the prefect escapism  from the rainy doom and gloom of the British autumnal climate (and news surrounding the ad).

Clear call to action with the site, that got me logged on… and yet no product to purchase at the end of it. They wouldn’t have made their £219 instantly, but it sure would have been added to my Boxed Up Christmas list. Shame.

Have you ever thought, “I want a comfy blue flannel?” Well, we have.  And our prayers have been answered.

Detta är något helt nytt på denna bloggen, dagens outfit. Har egentligen aldrig intresserat mig ett dugg, kläder alltså. Men nu har jag börjat följa ett par bra manliga klädesbloggar och har börjat falla för det lite. Fick verkligen inte till någon överblicksbild över kläderna. Kanske tar en ny i morgon.

Jeg fik naturligvis også shoppet en smule på min tur til Barcelona. Alle high fashion-butikkerne som Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, Burberry og Gucci er samlet på Passeig de Gràcia, og derudover finder man en masse mærker samlet hos stormagasinet El Corte Inglés på Placa Catalunya. Jeg havde helt klart forventet mig noget mere overvældende – for hvad jeg fandt var Escada, Gant, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, så det blev kun til et hurtigt kig derind.

De fine butikker finder man gemt i de smalle gader i Born-kvarteret og El Raval. Her ligger blandt andet to afdelinger af luksusvintage-paradiset Le Swing, som har specialiseret sig i Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Dior og Courrèges. Du finder dem på adresserne Carrer Doctor Dou 11 og Carrer Notoriat 3  – i nummer 7 på samme gade har Le Swing åbnet en café.

Et andet must er Como Agua de Mayo, som ligger på Carrer Argenteria 43 og Carrer Bany Nous 17. Stilen er meget feminin med festkjoler fra Paul & Joe og Sportmax og stiletter fra blandt andre Pura Lopez.

Et sted man naturligvis ikke kommer uden om, når man shopper i Barcelona, er highstreetkæden Zara. Der er mange af dem, butikkerne er store, og de har et kæmpe udvalg. Det lyder måske lidt kedeligt at shoppe i en butik her, som man også kan finde på Strøget, men det rigtig sjove ved Zara i Barcelona er, at priserne er cirka 30 procent lavere end herhjemme. Derfor kunne jeg også stoppe to lækre cardigans i 100 procent cashmere i posen – til den nette sum af 375 kr. stykket. En klassisk sort og en støvet rosa/pudderfarvet.

Som en lille prik over i’et fik jeg også købt mig et par Chanel-øreringe med swarovski-krystaller og sorte agater. Meget klassiske, elegante og diskrete synes jeg. Udbyttet var alt i alt måske ikke så stort, men det var bestemt godt.

Äntligen är det så fredag. Vi älskar ju fredagar, men det gör väl alla?

Lilla A ligger fortfarande och sover, hon har haft lite svårt att få ro till och från under natten på grund av sin förkylning (som bara verkar vara lite nästäppa och hosta) och sover nu ikapp sig lite. Jag däremot släpade mig upp för att känna att jag inte sov bort hela dagen iaf.

Idag ska jag ta mig iväg till Forum och shoppa lite hade jag tänkt. När man inte varit på riktig fest på över ett år och dessutom blivit några storlekar större på alla ledder sen sist så behöver garderoben en förnyelse.

Vi testade min ännu oanvända klänning från GANT (kan ni förstå att jag har en sån!?) igår kväll och nej. Den gick inte. Mina mjölkkosse tuttar får helt enkelt inte plats i den.

Alltså måste jag åka och hitta ett alternativ. För det är finfest på lördag. Då funkar inte mina tråkiga jeans längre.

Ikväll kommer dessutom E:s syster hit, hon har ju lovat att ställa upp som barnvakt när vi är på partaj. Jag bara håller tummarna för att A tycker att det är en bra idé. Och att K inte får alltför ont i huvudet av hennes gallskrik! De säger ju att vi föräldrar är lite mer toleranta!

Vad ska ni ha för er denna annars grådassiga fredag och härliga helg framför oss?

Le Musée des Tissus de Lyon présente l’exposition “Dans la peau du gant” qui regroupe une sélection de plus de 150 gants de la fin du Moyen-Age à nos jours provenant de ses propres collections historiques ainsi que du Conservatoire des collections Hermès, du Musée de Millau et de la Maison Causse.

Ce petit objet dont l’objectif principal est la protection de la main contre diverses agressions, est devenu au fil de son histoire un objet fascinant aux variations, aux significations et aux formes multiples. Son histoire est ancienne. Les premiers gants sont représentés sur les parois d’une grotte sous-marine du Paléothique supérieur, soit 27 000 ans avant notre ère. L’Antiquité le considérait comme un simple accessoire de protection, comme le prolongement de la manche. C’est à la fin de l’époque carolingienne que le gant est doté d’une signification symbolique. Au 9ème siècle, il entre dans la parure des évêques au même titre que la mitre et la crosse : il devient un symbole fort du pouvoir religieux. Au cours du Moyen-Age, cette signification est renforcée et le gant devient synonyme de pouvoir politique. Ainsi, en droit germanique, le gant est l’insigne de la décision royale. Aucune ville ne peut se doter d’un marché ou frapper monnaie si l’empereur du Saint Empire Germanique n’a pas envoyé son gant de la main droite pour signifier son autorisation.

Feeling nostalgic? Try this on for size, prep-lovers: One of the big horses over at Gant served us up something awesome and something exclusive. He dug deep into the archives and uncovered some ads from their Fall of 1981 collection that the company shot at Princeton University with actual Princeton students.

We’re talking stereotypical Princeton. Blonde crew-cuts. Bright colors. Football jocks. And a Rolls Royce?

If that’s not your bag, take a look at the garb. Gant’s Fall ‘81 collection emphasized collegiate sportswear with designs and colors oozing with school pride. In the last picture, one sees a black and white drawing for a shirt and tie that appears to be in the catalogue so that one could color in his school colors for Gant to design in future seasons (provided that Gant didn’t already offer clothing for the said school).

Also of note is the picture with the tartan shirts on the table. These were called The Woolster, but interestingly, the Woolster is somewhat of an earlier reference to The Cashmere, which is one of Gant’s 60th anniversary shirts.

We’re personally huge fans of the gorgeous array of colorful pants and the beautifully designed wide selection of rugbies that were part of the Rugger line. Bring those back, Gant.

Jag har kanske varit död, riktigt död någon månad. Men så går det när man börjat på en högskola som tar lite för mycket tid av sitt liv, jag har liksom blivit så äckligt lat att jag svarar på sms flera timmar senare – ICKE okej. Då kan ni förstå vad illa.

Men nu har jag i alla fall flyttat bloggen hit av någon okänd anledning, antagligen i rent tidsfördriv (gamla inlägg finns här med). SÅ HEJ TILL EN NY ADRESS och antagligen en mer aktiv blogg. Kan tänka mig att det mest blir utfyllnadsskit, fast hela jag är ganska mycket utfyllnadsskit så.

JA NU SKA JAG LYSSNA PÅ FOREVER YOUNG och låtsats att det är 1984 tror jag. Köpte en ful 80-tals jacka idag förresten. Den var billig och det klär mig. Billigt.

Oj upptäckte att det var en GANT, fäshion då. Men ändå våldtäktsmanjacka.

Jag är en sko- och väsksnobb, en sann älskare av fint läder och en manisk samlare av vackra habegärliga ting som stövlar och väskor. Att jag sen kanske använder en tiondel av allt som finns i gömmorna är en annan femma.

Hon tittar beundrande på min väska som står gömd i hörnet; en rosa Gant med ljusblått foder. Väskan som jag knölat ner mina träningskläder helt enkelt. Själv nyttjar hon stolt en polsk attaché införskaffad i taxfreeshopen till ett superpris.

I missriktad välvilja och med ett dåligt samvete över min lyxkonsumtion har jag nu gått igenom mitt förråd och valt ut ett antal objekt till bättre behövande. Denna vecka håller jag inne med bidraget till Situation Stockholm och håller bazaar för blivande bag ladies.

Well here’s a post that’s long overdue…

This traditional American brand is offering a unique twist to the classic Oxford shirt that they perfected in the 1960s. To commemorate their 60^th Anniversary, GANT is redesigning (more like refurbishing) six old shirt designs for modern wear. All of the improvements are great, but definitely check out The Rugger and The Cashmere designs for a throwback yet elegant look.

Also, the video on the website is a must see. This very sophisticated footage traces the company’s extensive roots in the fashion community. It also relives some important breakthroughs in history as a whole, but also in terms of GANT’s growth.

It’s easy for a site devoted to preppiness to get carried away with an emphasis on oxfords, but we want you to note, Gant really is the master of the oxford, and this collection really hits on the head what they do best. So often, people look for the right oxford that fits well in the shoulders and arms yet has the appropriate length to wear in or out of the pants. Gant is that shirt. Rarely do we see shirts that so effectively double as a piece to tuck in and a piece to wear out: truly a button-down that doesn’t go too far beyond the belt, which is crucial to looking tall and lean. Overall, well done to GANT on reaching this 60^th anniversary. And more praise for celebrating the milestone in such a classy manner. Check out the site here.

GANT recently celebrated their 60th Birthday! Horray! And with pieces like these, they’ll definitely be around for another sixty! Random fact we just learned: GANT was the first sportswear company to take the rugby shirt “off the field” and into American fashion.  Pretty spiffy.
