You’ve guessed it, i watched Donnie Darko again. I really don’t know why i do this, but i just find it so interesting. The idea is that i went on the website (again) and this time i actually played the game instead of saying “next time”. I found it to be really cool, i like that kind of games (ARGs – alternate reality games) but it’s only a early version, not like one of these ARGs these days, intricate and more of the game taking place in real world. Well, this is all virtual and unfortunately it only has 3 levels and it ends very abruptly.

Getting back to the movie.. it’s definitely one to watch before you die (put it on the bucket list, people). It’s filled with interesting things from time travel to the creation of Smurfette (i didn’t know Smurfette was created by Gargamel) but anyway the story is just so great, it’s about Donnie, a very intelligent boy who sleepwalks and has emotional problems. One night he sees Frank, who has a mask and is dressed in a bunny suit (if you think about Alice in Wonderland, it was a rabbit then too who Alice followed into the hole) and he tells Donnie the world will end in 28 days 6 hours 42 minutes and 12 seconds. Then it gets all interesting and we’re shown different aspects of Donnie’s life and in the end Donnie finds the wormhole (rabbit hole, wormhole) and everything returns to what it should have been. Everything in the movie has a meaning and an end purpose, nothing is there by chance  and the dialogues are great, so many memorable quotes.

On the same concept they made a sequel, which was not so great i must say, but this time the movie is based on Samantha Darko, Donnie’s younger sister. She, like her brother, sleepwalks and while travelling with her friend Corey begins to be haunted by weird visions. Slightly more complicated and hazardous this movie pales in comparison to the first one, but it’s a little bit more sales orientated (mainstream-ish). And i must applaude the fact that they used the same actress as in the first movie and made that part realistic, you sense the story actually goes on from brother to sister.

So, if you wanna see a great, interesting movie Donnie Darko is the one.

Desde hace muy poco tiempo, al menos en España, la figura del Social Media Manager se ha puesto de moda está siendo demandada de forma casi compulsiva por muchas empresas y marcas. Este puesto, también conocido como Community Manager se está tratando, a mi entender, con muy poco cariño y, en algunos casos, como una incómoda necesidad.

Por una parte, los directivos de las empresas no entienden muy bien esa ‘vacante’, pero perciben que si no lo tienen pueden perder un tiempo precioso frente a la competencia, y por otro lado, las personas que están ocupando estos puestos se les está considerando, en el mejor de los casos, mileuristas, cuando no becarios, que realmente están para aprender y nunca para enseñar, aunque este tema de los recién licenciados merecería, sin lugar a dudas, un capítulo aparte.

Dejando los anglicismos para otro día, el responsable social de la empresa, es aquel que tiene en sus manos el poder la imagen de marca, de las actuaciones, de los productos, de las opiniones y, en definitiva, la llave del armario con el que nos vamos a vestir para la presentación ante el cliente en un ámbito cada vez más grande, Internet, que, no nos olvidemos, ha superado en tiempo de consumo de los usuarios a la mismísima televisión.

La persona que finalmente cubra este estratégico puesto -actualmente anunciado en Infojobs aunque personalmente entiendo que por su complejidad y sensibilidad debería ser demandado por un Headhunter- ¿qué debe hacer?, o mejor antes, ¿quién debe ser?. Tratemos de responder a estas dos preguntas:

¿Quién debe ser el Social Media Manager en una empresa?. En primer lugar, éste deberá ser ‘popular’, sí, ese adjetivo tan americano y hortera, ‘popular’, o por lo menos parecerlo. Muchos son los ejemplos de gurús de la red que desprenden cierto halo de haber sido los ‘defenestrados de la clase’. Éstos pueden ser sabios, escritores, audaces o lo que quieras, pero no me valen para cubrir este puesto, ¿cómo vas a ser la imagen social de algo si tienes menos amigos que Gargamel?. Ciertamente, es difícil detectar esto en una entrevista, pero se debería intuir. En segundo lugar, el candidato entiendo que deberá tener habilidades de comunicación contrastadas, lo que significa, que en ningún caso podrá ser aquella persona de dentro de la organización que es incapaz de comunicarse con los que le rodean, y mucho menos si el que le rodea ocupa un ‘escalón’ inferior en la jerarquía. Si viniera de fuera, una vez más, es complicado percibir este punto, de ahí que la búsqueda debería y debe estar profesionalizada. En tercer lugar, por último, y dándolo por descontado, deberemos estar frente a un profundo conocedor, o mejor aún, amante, de todo lo que tenga que ver con Internet, movilidad y ese larguísimo etcétera que cualquiera de vosotros podría rellenar, entendiendo que habla inglés, alemán o chino, en función de las necesidades que nos vayamos a encontrar en el siguiente punto.

Una vez ‘atrapado’ el candidato perfecto, tendríamos pendiente algo igual o más complicado: Qué hacer…

¿Qué debe hacer un Social Media Manager?. Sin entrar en que debe utilizar tal o cual herramienta, es importante cerciorarse de que, el flamante asignatario de tan raro nombre, conoce en profundidad la empresa, la marca, su historia, sus clientes y su comercialización, por lo tanto, es imprescindible que se siente junto al CEO, CFO y demás siglas, además de leerse cuanto anuario caiga en su mano, acompañar a los comerciales en sus salidas para conocer clientes y dificultades del producto y, por último, no despegarse durante unos días del ’señor o señora del carrito’ o el encomendado a repartir el correo, prensa o similar, ya que en éste recae el conocimiento profundo de las personas de la institución. Una vez conocido en detalle el funcionamiento y objetivo de la empresa, nuestro personaje debe, antes de iniciar una loca carrera por el 2.0, diseñar una estrategia en Internet, y en función de las características dirigirse a uno u otros espacios de la red, y en ningún caso a todos, seleccionando, especialmente, aquellos que puedan ser atendidos, o lo que es lo mismo, actuar en nombre de la empresa de forma bidireccional, algo frecuentemente obviado.

Podríamos continuar este post diciendo si hay que ‘estar’ en Twitter, Facebook, Tuenti, Digg, Youtube, Xing o Linkedin, además de tratar de instruir si es necesario generar un blog, microsite o encuesta, además de señalar foros, chats o espacios de discusión en los que debemos ‘meter la nariz’, pero esto es tan particular y ‘personal’ para cada una de las marcas que debe ser regido por la anteriormente comentada y vital estrategia viral y social en Internet, que en muchos casos pasa por una necesario y profundo cambio de imagen.

Chinese Dwarfs Start Their Own Village

(MYFOX NATIONAL) – A community of dwarfs in China is tired of being discriminated against and is doing something about it.

The Telegraph reports that the people of Kunming, a mountain community in southern China, have set up their own village to escape discrimination from normal sized people.

All of the 120 residents are under 4-feet, 3-inches tall, and they run their own police force and fire department. The group also has turned itself into a tourist attraction by building mushroom houses and living and dressing like fairy tale characters.

“As small people we are used to being pushed around and exploited by big people. But here there aren’t any big people and everything we do is for us,” said spokesman Fu Tien. FULL STORY

Picture it:  New Jersey, 1983.  A young CWG is glued to her television on an early Saturday morning, mesmerized by miniature blue people who resided in mushrooms(!!!).  The fearless leader of this community, Papa, donned a red get-up.  Typically, he could be found in his laboratory mixing up potions that required excessive amounts of Smurfberries, as I recall.  The potions were being developed to fend off their mortal enemy, Gargamel, and his bad-assed cat Azrael. 

Residing with Papa in Smurfville was a blonde minx named Smurfette, a smug little bugger named Vanity who toted around a mirror, Jokey with his exploding gag gift, Poet who, if memory serves, had a parchment scroll and feather quill, Brainy and his nerdy glasses, Handy with his toolbox (or was it a belt?), and 93 assorted other blue guys. 

Collectively they were known as The Smufs and were ALL the rage.  My sister and I had plush Smurfs, Smurfs shrinky dinks, plastic Smurf statues, and we took to saying things like ‘abso-SMURF-ly’!  (Okay, I admit it.  I still own my Smurfs shrinky dink kit.)

In July, Husban-dito and I revisited a favorite haunt of ours in Vermont–The Vermont Country Store.  Jam packed with everything from candy to Q-tips with wooden sticks (instead of paper), it’s the be-all and end-all of general stores.  It’s a sprawling place and is often overrun by tour groups coming to take a peek. 

As we wandered around, I came upon a large (and prominent) display of my childhood friends.  I couldn’t help leaning in for a few snapshots…click on them for a closer look.

 After we returned home, I visited a local Crud-mart with my sister and happened upon a man about my age who was sprinting toward the cash register with a DVD of The Smurfs television series clutched in his sweaty hands. 

The Smurfs, it would seem, are BACK.  In my opinion, it’s about SMURFIN’ time!

Até agora, apenas esboços computadorizados do longa-metragem dos Smurfs haviam caído na rede. Agora o primeiro cartaz do filme é fotografado, e mostra uma das criaturinhas azuis com seu visual finalizado. Com direito a frase remetendo ao famoso diálogo de Tony Montana em Scarface. O longa baseado na criação de 1958 do cartunista belga Pierre “Peyo” Culliford (1928-1992) será lançado tanto em 3D quanto em 2D. O roteiro de David Stem e David Weiss, dupla de Shrek 2 e 3, conta a origem dos seres azuis e do mago Gargamel, bem como sua obsessão com a Sopa de Smurfs e os segredos de seu castelo. A direção é de Raja Gosnell (Perdido pra Cachorro). Um pouco atrasado para comemorar os 50 anos dos Smurfs, o longa chega aos cinemas dos EUA em 17 de dezembro de 2010. Gargamel is one of the leading Japanese vinyl manufacturers, with their most recognizable design arguably being the Zagoran.  Zagoran was a bootleg vintage design, from what I understand, brought back into popularity by Gargamel, in part due to how easily his simple and friendly design lent itself to custom paint jobs.  Some collectors spend their entire career hunting Zagorans, never to have them all, but all of them looking amazing.  This custom is done on a clear blank, which I believe was for a custom contest a few years back, similar to the BlobPus blob I recently did for a current contest.  I wanted to try painting the figure from the inside, since I really like the figure and wanted to be able to still handle it and play with it afterward without worrying about damaging the custom paint.  I kept the paint scheme simple, and found that painting figures from the inside is hugely difficult… I had some problems with the paint sticking, and then beading up, as well as running, as evident in a few places, but overall I’m happy with how the figure came out.  I picked ‘friendly’ colors, similar to a Hawaii scheme.  The lips and mouth and eye were painted from the outside.

Beide letzteren Filme sind leider schlecht, aber leider mag ich die Schlümpfe und hab jetz n wenig schiss, dass der auch grottig wird…man ey…ich bin aber mal gespannt wer Gargamel sein wird…

Researchers at the University of Rochester recently discovered that when they injected the blue dye found in M&Ms and Gatorade into rats with spinal cord injuries, the rats were able to walk again with a limp. The only side effect was that the rats temporarily turned blue.

As SDCC 2009 winds down each year, I find myself curious to see what the most expensive item from the Con is listed on eBay. Offering this beautiful 2009 MIBORAH vinyl figure, which is a hand painted 1 of 1 edition from GARGAMEL. I happened to secure a prime place in the early Gargamel line at the San Diego Comic-Con before the opening. Within a couple of hours, nearly all the customs were gone. This was one of the more expensive, as it was painted by 2 artists. Kyoka & KaToPe. Notice the detail of the eyes and horn. Molded in translucent hot green, it is unique and the only of it’s kind. It looks like a piece of candy. Miborah stands about 9.5 inches tall and has been signed by both artists. He comes bagged as the 1/1 offerings do, without header card. An excellent example of the unique beauty and mystique of the Urban Vinyl. If you take into account, the original cost of purchasing this 1/1 example, the cost of getting to the con, admission, parking, $4 waters etc. This is bargain!

La misoginia, “el odio a la mujer, al género y a todo lo femenino” es un tema de larga data, se han escrito bibliotecas, entre lo escrito está el mito de prometeo y pandora, en el que Pandora, su belleza y su caja de males para castigar a los hombres, es el antecedente más elaborado sobre la misoginia de los hombres, este mito griego escrito por Hesíodo fue retomado por el belga Peyo en su historieta “los Pitufos” en la que el rol de Pandora, lo asume la Pitufina, creada por el brujo Gargamel con igual fin que el que movió al dios Zeus en la antiguedad…“joder a los hombres”.

Y en esta cumbre del Mercosur pareciera que Pandora y la Pitufina se reencarnaron en la Presidenta Kirchner, al menos en sus palabras, cuando le tiró con misandrias a las misoginias de su colegas y la prensa…entre misandria va, misoginia viene…llegó tarde !!!

Pandora cuando abrió su caja, por curiosidad, antes de entregársela a su amado Epimeteo, y salieron todos los males, a duras penas logró cerrarla y en su interior quedó un solo don sin salir…la esperanza, y oh casualidad desde el 9 de julio. Cristina Kirchner ha regado de esperanza el escenario político argentino al recurrir a la convocatoria al diálogo entre todos y todas…paradojas entre los mitos y la política que la frase de Cristina en Paraguay acaba de revivir a partir de…llegar tarde !!! y joder a los hombres, jajajja.

Foi confirmado pela Sony Pictures Animation, o diretor do longa em live-action dos Smurfs, o escolhido foi Raja Gosnell, que já trabalhou com filmes do gênero nos dois Scooby-Doo e no horrível Perdido pra Cachorro. O produtor do filme Jordan Kerner disse ao Hollywwood Reporter que o o diretor é “brilhante” e que já provou seu talento em filmes em live-action.

O roteiro de David Stem e David Weiss (Sherek 2 e 3), conta a origem dos Smurfs e seu inimigo Gargamel, além de explicar sua obessessão com a Sopa de Smurfs e a origem do seu castelo.

Assisti e muito o desenho dos seres azuis, se  o filme fosse lançado até 10 anos atrás teria certeza que ele seria um enorme sucesso, hoje tenho minhas dúvidas, com essa nova geração acostumada a Shrek e outros filmes. Tudo isso ficou pior ainda com essa infeliz escolha de Gosnell como diretor.

Smurfs será lançado nos EUA em 17 de dezembro de 2010 e no Brasil no dia 31 de dezembro.
