Tiger better Hide All His Golf Clubs, especially the Pitching and Sand Wedges!!!!!

Looks like the girls Woods Slept with are telling the Truth regarding Tiger not being able to keep his Dick in his Pants. A Voicemail Message was just released with Woods telling one of his many Girls that his wife is becoming very Suspicious, and more.

These Women are going to be offered TONS of MONEY to Tell their Stories. In fact, they may be offered so much money that they would have enough to Run For Mayor of New York City just like our own King Bloomberg did.

We haven’t seen nothing yet regarding what is Arguably one of the Biggest infidelity Scandals to occur in a Century!!!!!

And the fact that Tiger is Half Black will have All the Vultures Picking at his Bones just because of his Race.

Woods will get No Rest………… I know one guy who is Happy to see all of this happen, and that is the Golfer Fuzzy Zoeller (see here >

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuzzy_Zoeller

who was thrown out of the PGA for making a Remark about Woods a few years ago, regarding the Menu of Collard Greens and Chicken that would be served at the 1997 Masters Dinner. He alluded to the fact that the winner gets to choose his Menu.

Anyway, all of this is only the beginning, and the 4 carat Diamond that Woods got his Wife Ain’t going to be nearly Enough.

I don’t think Tiger will ever fully rebound from all of this and that Jack will have no worries about his Records being Broken. I base this on the Fact that Golf is a 99% Mental Game, and that Woods will NEVER get Back On Track.

Tiger will most likely be single soon, and he’ll be able to Fuck all the Chics he can get his hands on. But a lot of the Fun will be taken out of the Chase since he won’t be Cheating Anymore. I always knew that Tiger would not have the Longevity in the Golfing Scene like Jack Nicholas, Lee Trevino, Gary Player and the rest of the Great Golfers. It’s not just about Talent, but it is about staying healthy, and staying away from Scandals that Ultimately Sidetrack your Entire Career. I know Tiger has a Strong Constitution, But I don’t think even he has the Stamina to make it through this one. What makes it Tougher is that this Guy was on TOP of the Mountain, and had a tremendous amount of Weight on his Shoulders, being a Role Model and All.

Everyone that looked up to this Guy was an Idiot Anyway. Won’t people ever learn that he and others like him or her, take a Shit and Wipe their ASSES just like the Rest Of Us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Btw, don’t be surprised if we here the old “I’m Addicted to Sex” Excuse!!! I would like to know what Oprah Winphrey has to say about all this. She already probably thinks Stedman is cheating on her anyway!!!

After this, Michelle may be keeping an extra eye on her man Barrack Hussein Obama!!!!!

You may be of the opinion that golf is a sedentary sport, played by unfit, middle-aged men and women with poor dress sense. However, the world’s elite players are now fitter and stronger than ever, with fitness trainers being common place on the professional tours of the world. As for dress sense, well, you may have a point.

So if fitness is high on the agenda for the modern professional, why is nutrition so rarely considered? Other sports take nutrition very seriously, even at an amateur level. For example many runners are incredibly knowledgeable about what to eat to boost performance and recovery. Yet for golfers it is a different story.

I often marvel at the players in my weekend four ball, who not only go the whole round without eating anything, they manage not to drink anything either!

Back in 2005 Gary Player suggested that “Fitness is the King, and nutrition is the Queen” (http://bit.ly/40rPAC). Player has been advocating good nutrition for years and thinks it will be the next big thing in golf. I hope so. There’s so much for golfers to learn from other sports and their attitudes to nutrition.

For professional golfers it is all about the little things that might give that 1% advantage. Imagine the value of saving even one shot per tournament due to improved concentration through optimal nutrition, greater energy, or simply being able to train that bit harder than competitors?

You can read the first in my golf nutrition series here http://bit.ly/3TGS4Z

Written August 29, 2009 by Margie Casey, www.southeastdiscovery.com

Location:

Lely Resort Golf & Country Club is located off US 41 (Tamiami Trail) west of I-75 towards Marco Island. Enter at the famous monument Lely Freedom Horses, iron statues of thunder bred horses. Lely Resort Golf & Country Club is minutes from 5th Avenue shopping in downtown Naples, 15 minutes from the beautiful beaches of Marco Island.

Our first impression:

We heard again about this affordable award winning master planned community with three golf courses inside the community, so we made my way across to state to check it out. We were greeted by Susan Joyce, Sales Associate for Lely Resort Golf & Country Club. Susan has worked for Stock Development for 6 years and is a 4 year resident at Lely Resort Golf & Country Club, which tells us her belief in the developer and in the project.

We reviewed the small scale model outlining 13 distinct neighborhoods, more than 3,000 acres of property. Stock Development bought the project from the Lely family back in 2001. To date, 75% of the planned 5,500 homes are sold, 110 homes sold to date in 2009. New sales, re-sales and rentals are marketed at the Lely Resort Golf & Country Club Sales Center. The project is spacious, exceptionally designed, with lakes intertwining throughout the neighborhoods and three signature golf courses part of the development, yet seperately managed. Currently, there are 30 models to choose from and see in these categories:

Alden Woods luxury coach homes priced from $249K

Avonlea single family homes from $519K

Caldecott single family homes from $324K

The Classics single family homes from $1.149M

Cordoba single family homes from $437K

Cottesmore single family homes from $449K

Covington Place single family homes from $669K

Legacy coach homes from $319K

Martinique single family homes from $569K

Moorgate villas from $314K

Ole’ flats from $185K

Ole’ townhomes from $199K

Ole’ casitas from $224K

Players Cove coach homes from $304K

Buyers have many choices. Some neighborhoods inside Lely Resort Golf & Country Club are gated, some are not. Each neighborhood has its own Homeowners Association, dues from $226 a month to $486 a month depending on the neighborhood. The Master Association dues are an additional $56 a month. Amenities for residents embellish a resort atmosphere that I would expect to see at a luxury hotel/resort. The Players Club & Spa is a colorful ‘Tommy Bahama’ style 26,000 square foot facility. The swimming pool is a tropical retreat with waterfalls, stone lagoons, palm trees in the center of the pool, a sandy beach, water play area for kids, and separate Olympic lap pool. Residents have pool side food/bar service. The Players Club has an indoor/outdoor restaurant and an outdoor Tiki Bar with 8 TV screens. Inside the club, a business center with 7 computers, a state of the art 3,500 square foot fitness center, steam/sauna facility, full service spa, billiards, and game/movie room. Outside; 7 Har-Tru tennis courts with full service pro shop, bocce ball, and basketball courts. Residents are required to provide a $6K refundable deposit, dues are $2,050 a year. Ole’s colorful Spanish Mediterranean style neighborhood has its own separate smaller clubhouse/village center loaded with more fun things to do.

More impressions of Lely Resort Golf & Country Club:

Two of the three signature golf courses are public; Flamingo Island – Robert Trent Jones design and The Mustang designed by Lee Trevino. The Classics course designed by Gary Player is private. For the private course: Full Golf Flex Membership has a $45K initiation fee, $8,000 dues/food minimum. Full Golf Membership without golf/social events has a $25K initiation fee, $8,000 dues/food minimum. Social Memberships without golf privileges is $8K initiation fee, $3,000 dues /food minimum. Real estate taxes are 1.125 cents per $100, insurance cost 3% or less.

Muscle Behind Lely Resort Golf & Country Club:

Stock Development is a six generation developer currently led by K.C. Stock, Chairman and Brian Stock, CEO. Stock Development was named developer of the year in 2008 by Lee County. Lely Resort Golf & Country Club is one of several Stock Development projects. More information can be read at Stock Developments website: http://www.stockdevelopment.com/

This Perez Hilton guy is probably the biggest clam on the planet. First he rips Miss California Car

This Perez Hilton guy is probably the biggest clam on the planet. First he rips Miss California Carrie Prejean for her response to Hilton’s gay marriage question at the Miss USA Pageant.

I’m not a bleeding heart liberal by any means, but I don’t necessarily have issues with gay marriage. Marriage in general is kind of a joke isn’t it? Straight people have butchered the fuck out of it, so why not let gay people give it a go. Doesn’t bother me at all. That being said, I still can’t find anything wrong with what this girl said. She responded on the spot and was honest and articulate.

Then last night in Toronto, Perez throws down with Will.I.Am of the black eyed peas’ posse after Hilton allegedly spouts “You’re not a fucking artist, you’re a fucking faggot.”

Someone explain this to me. How does this hypocrite doorknob use the phrase “fucking faggot” in public and in a hateful manner AFTER ruining Carrie Prejeans dreams/future for simply not having the same beliefs? How are other gay people feeling about this? Grizz?

Kidding.

But really. Doesn’t that kind of under-mind the equality movement? Some hotshot cross-dresser who paint-shopped his way into credibility is blurting out hate speech like it’s no big deal. Perez Hilton is a joke who takes advantage of society being so fucking backwards that it holds Prejeans comments over the flames more than Perez screaming in the streets of Toronto.

-the pun was kind of intended by the way. It’s ok though, I have gay friends.

-CB

Below is my story, “Low and Left,” which was featured in recently published Chicken Soup

Below is my story, “Low and Left,” which was featured in recently published Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Golf Book.

Low and Left

By Robert Bruce

“Do you think I should wait on him to move or go ahead and hit?” I asked my friend Mike.

“I don’t know,” Mike replied. “He’s pretty close.”

“Yeah,” I answered. “But he’s on the left side of the fairway. I never hit it left.”

Just ten years old, my golf skills were still in their embryonic stages—as was my knowledge of the sport’s etiquette. Most of my drives tended to weakly drift high and right. The occasional well-struck tee-shot would start straight, then fade down the right side of the fairway. But low and left? Never.

But with those last few heedless words, I started my backswing. A brief turn of the hips, a subtle rotation of the shoulders, and the ball rocketed off the clubface…low and left.

Rarely in life are we afforded the divine power of foretelling the future, seeing events unfold before they occur. Maybe when the car ahead on the freeway abruptly stops, and no amount of brake pressure will avoid the impending collision. Or when an errant baseball toss plummets from the sky toward a neighbor’s window.

As the small, white missile streaked down the left side of the fairway, I saw the future for an instant. I no longer hoped the ball wouldn’t hit the fellow golfer in front of me—that was a foregone conclusion. No, instead, I hoped it would merely hit him in the thigh, the butt, or at least the upper arm—someplace fleshy with a little padding. Just, please, not directly on bone. And, oh please, not on the head.

I would like to believe I heartily yelled “Fore!” on that summer morning. But, in reality, I barely mustered a weak and reluctant “Hey!” Mike heard me, but the fellow 170 yards down the fairway certainly did not.

Maybe if I just closed my eyes and prayed, I could pretend this never happened, that I never hit a golf ball with this man—possibly a husband, a father, a favorite son—just down the fairway.

But no such luck. The ball continued the seemingly eternal flight toward its human destination. Now just yards away, I realized that my Pinnacle was darting on a beeline toward the center of the man’s back—as if his shoulder blades were goalposts for a descending football.

My heart attempted to force its way out of my chest. And in a matter of milliseconds, my mind feverishly raced through dozens of potential outcomes, each more horrid and life-altering than its predecessor: broken bones, newspaper headlines, prison time, a funeral. What will Dad say? Will I be banned from the course? Will I ever play again? Do juvenile detention centers have golf courses?

And then, with a dull and horrid thump, the ball struck right in the middle of his back. Dead center. The lump in my throat grew two-fold. Though I tried to swallow, every ounce of moisture in my mouth relocated to the palms of my hands. I’m screwed, I thought.

The man halted his stride mid-step. He never fell down. He never slumped over. He hardly even flinched.

As if superhuman, some sort of mythical golfing god, he slowly turned around with his head slightly tilted toward his right shoulder. He stared at me with eyes that seemed to judge my entire brief life with one penetrating stare from 170 yards away.

I wanted to run. I wanted to point at Mike. He’s the one who hit you! I wanted to take some practice swings and nonchalantly act as if nothing happened, as if I were simply warming up for my drive—implying that the reckless offender must be playing on some other hole.

But, instead, I waved.

“Sorry ‘bout that!” I sheepishly hollered, waiting for the man to bolt into a sprint back up the hill.

The brute never said a word. He just continued to stare.

“Is he okay?” Mike asked. “That had to hurt.”

“I think so. What should I do?”

“I don’t know,” Mike replied, turning back toward his golf bag, as if washing his hands of any guilt by association.

“Sorry!” I yelled again, hoping a second apology would render the matter resolved.

We waited a few more seconds, still expecting him to charge back up the fairway, crazily waving a pitching wedge in his hand. You stupid kids! What do you think you are doing!

But then, stunningly, he turned back around and began a slow gait toward the first green, leaving my ball lying in the sparsely mown rough behind him.

In silence, I lowered my head and stared at the ground. I’m an idiot, I thought, realizing that I probably deserved this man’s vengeance.

But he didn’t shout. He didn’t throw my ball into the woods. He didn’t offer any animated hand gestures. He didn’t report my actions to the pro shop. He just walked away and continued his round, leaving me to wallow in my guilt and idiocy.

Twenty years later, I have no idea why that man walked away. Maybe he just dismissed me as a stupid kid, a ten-year-old not worth wasting his time on. Or perhaps the ball just didn’t hurt that much—although I can’t imagine how a line-drive tee shot from nearly 200 yards away wouldn’t bring pain.

Whatever the reason, I learned a fundamental rule of golf etiquette that day: don’t dare hit into the group ahead.

And, on the rare occasion when someone hits into me, I don’t yell or throw a fit.

I simply stare.

Angel Cabrera, the first Argentine winner of the Masters Tournament last week, returned to his home to a crowd that welcomed him and cheered as he displayed his new green jacket.

According to Golf.com, his background in golf started at age 10 as a caddy at the Cordoba Golf Club, leading to his first round with borrowed clubs when he was fifteen. Eduardo Romero, a successful professional himself, mentored Angel and sponsored him as he learned to play, until he turned pro at age 20.

Mr. Cabrera qualified to be a professional at the European Tour Qualifying School on his fourth attempt in 1996, and he has amassed 39 wins as a professional. Before the Masters he was ranked 69th on the tour, making him the lowest ranked golfer ever to win the event at the Augusta National Golf Club.

Angel previous major win was in 2007, his first year on the PGA Tour, the U.S. Open at Oakmont, near Pittsburgh, where he beat Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk by one stroke. At that event he was the atop the leaderboard after two rounds, but he had trouble on that day; he shot six over par and finished four strokes behind the leader. It would be easy to imagine that he would be discouraged, but evidently he did not let it overwhelm him and finished the final round at one under par. He is the first Argentine to win the U.S, Open. Only one other Argentine has ever won a major, that being Roberto de Vincenzo, who took the British Open in 1967, two years before Angel was born, and then in 1968 was disqualified for a playoff to win the Masters when he signed an incorrect scorecard.

Mr. Cabrera’s Masters win was consistent with his Oakmont win, in that he demonstrated his positive attitude and refused to let his circumstances get the better of him. Tied for the lead with Kenny Perry when he teed off Sunday, he fell two strokes behind while Phil Mickelson and Tiger scrambled to overtake the leaders. He kept his concentration and interacted with the gallery, which made the CBS commentators describe him as “popular”. Still two shots back as he finished the sixteenth hole, he showed what a clutch golfer he can be. Then he pulled into a tie at the eighteenth, finished one under for the day, and was part of a dramatic three way playoff with Kenny Perry and Chad Campbell. On the first extra hole he survived a disastrous tee shot into the woods. His second shot bounced off two trees, the second bounce a fortunate one, as his golf ball ended up in the middle of the fairway with a clear path to the green. Chad Campbell did not survive the first extra hole when he missed a makeable six foot putt for par. Angel made par on the next hole and sank his putt as Perry looked on, unable to win.

So this was Mr. Cabrera’s second major win. He is only the second non-American ever to have won both the Masters and the U.S. Open; Gary Player was the other. He has won three times on the European Tour and has vowed to win at least three more majors.

How long is a job these days ? Perseverance. It’s not an especially long word, nor is it a difficult

How long is a job these days ?

Perseverance.

It’s not an especially long word, nor is it a difficult word to understand. But so many people find it the hardest word to put into practice. But ask any champion; ask any top entrepreneur or businessman or woman; ask anyone who has reached a pinnacle in their chosen life-path and sooner or later they will mention the ‘p’ word.

It is almost the key to a long and fulfilling life. That great golfer Gary Player is renowned for having said: “ The harder I practice, it seems the luckier I get.” For ‘practice’ substitute ‘persevere’.

So where is all this leading ?

Well, I have been lucky, like Gary Player, in securing three major appointments in later life and I want to share with you how I did it. I’m not pretending that this is the only way or that this is the latest Life Training formula – the Hales Diet – but I hope that it will encourage more people to continue with a busy and rewarding life until their bodies or minds can take no more, instead of joining God’s waiting room in retirement.

The odds are stacked against you. For some reason that has never been clear to me, youth is still preferred over experience, though it beats me how a young and relatively untried person who is still experimenting with experience can be better than someone who has done all that, achieved a degree of success and still has the energy and personal resource to do more.

Yes, there are youth businesses where a scarcity of years is mandatory. Sport is an obvious example, where the performance of the body is governed by a combination of age, practice, talent and – yes, experience. There comes an optimum moment for all sportsmen after which the body, predictably, starts to fail the sternest tests and performance begins to fade.

The same may be true to a lesser extent of Formula One racing drivers. Where once a cavalier approach to the danger of mastering great brutes of engineering around a barely-prepared circuit constituted the sport, nowadays it is to be the short, slim, fantastically-fit, young pilot of a truly awesome piece of computerised machinery rocketing around a tightly-honed racing track. Youth still predominates at the sharp end of motor-racing but many of the older generation, who have finessed lightning-fast reactions in controlling a machine built for speed, can still post comparable times and have continued their careers in parallel forms of racing like touring cars.

I always felt that the popular music business was an industry for younger people. People with the certainty and confidence of youth. People who are closer to the ultimate market for much of the output. At 28, I was the liaison executive for the whole of North America for a European record company. At 30 I was Head of Popular Music for the world – very much a case of today New York, tomorrow the world!

But soon afterwards I became disillusioned with the music business when the very cyclical nature of the popularity of certain genres became apparent. After surviving the Osmonds, the Jacksons and the Bay City Rollers in succession it became obvious that ‘boy bands’ would reign supreme approximately every five years. Take That and Boyzone carried on the mantle in later years and were joined by countless combinations of young girls who gyrated robotically and breathed tunelessly over a syncopated beat. There, there, I’m sinking into cynicism.

How long do people stay in a job these days on average ? Once the thought of changing companies was unhead of, but today people change jobs almost as often as they change their clothes ! Once you would have been frowned on as unreliable if you left a company in less than 3-5 years. Now that is often the maximum that anyone stays as job-hopping sends them up the career and income ladders.

But in a straight contest for a senior position, how can a young man, who is still racking up experience and dealing with new situations almost daily, be preferable to an older man who has experienced all of these situations successfully, often worked in several industries to get a broad view of working life, yet is still open-minded and ambitious.

The older man, who is still inquisitive about life and fascinated by events and new developments, has an aggregation of experience against which he can set the new and the potentially unfamiliar. He’s half way to a solution to whatever the problem is based on experience alone, while a younger person may still be chewing his fingernails pondering the answer.

Who can put a price on that asset ? The key for an older person is never to tire of life; never to fall into that trap of comparing current events unfavourably with the past. “It’s not like the good old days” is a familiar refrain from middle-aged and older people – and it’s the wrong attitude. Things are neither better nor worse today than they were ten, 20 or 50 years ago. They’re different.

Inevitably when there’s more of your life behind you than ahead, your attitude must change and the scope for comparison grows. But it is a dangerous trap into which to fall. We all have to get our heads around the fact that life goes on and we are merely a very small part of it for a few years. Nobody, I suspect, really knows where the human race is headed, nor why it evolved in the first place. But, as individuals, we need to soak up as much as we can of life within our allotted span, and to contribute as much as we can within the talent and expertise that we are able to develop in the time available.

What I find difficult to understand is the fatalistic attitude to life that seems to prevail among many people. They seem content to be foot-soldiers merely fulfilling a modest function, probably smoking too much or drinking too much, which brings on the ill-health in later life that finally kills them off many years before necessary. Why don’t they make the effort to break out of their circumstances and find a tougher path that might bring them greater fulfilment? Some do that in the name of religion but I believe that is simply a panacea for the one and only life that we lead by promising that it’s all going to be great the next time around. Hmmmm!

Of course, young people will always rebel against the status quo, but different generations do it in different ways. Not long after World War Two there were Teddy Boys in the 50s. Then there were Mods and Rockers in the 60s. They were followed by New Romantics, Goths, Punks and at the turn of the 21st century there was a mix of all of them.

What has changed with recent generations is the breakdown of respect. Respect for other people; for their property and their right to enjoy life without unwarranted interference. One supposes that much of this fragmenting of respect is due to the ‘dumbing down’ of education following a generation of self-appointed education experts who decided that learning was a bit too stressful for young people.

Respect cannot survive in such an atmosphere. Individuals must be allowed to order their own lives as long as what they do does not unduly imperil the lives of others. There is a greater good for society, which must be respected in its turn, but it is not the over-riding consideration in our daily lives.

What the ‘experts’ overlook is that challenge and, yes, stress, is part of the learning process whether you are a young human; a chimpanzee or a dolphin. The young need to experiment; to play and to learn the limits of acceptable behaviour.

A broken arm here, a bruised leg there or a sharp rebuke, never hurt anyone in the long term – but it did teach them something about the limits of life. It seems that our educationalists and safety fanatics have forgotten these basic instincts.

They are encouraging new generations of people who expect all the rewards of life without putting in any effort to achieve them. The ‘have nots’ have become the ‘why nots’ who simply take, or attempt to take, what they see others enjoying – whether it is a nice car, a sophisticated mobile phone or some sort of social prominence. That is why our contemporary society is full now of ‘celebrities’ who lack the talent to sustain their fame.

They overlook the fact that major public figures have laboured long and hard to achieve their position and have contributed a great deal to public life before achieving recognition – whether they are Bruce Forsyth or Sir Alan Sugar.

All the fight, the daring, the experimentation is being drafted out of our lives. Soon we’ll be zombies dancing to the tunes of socialist governments intent on dictating every waking moment – and most of the sleeping moments – of our lives.

But the baby boomer generation has led the way since the 1950s and now as it moves into the third age it is still exerting huge influence over the way society moves and acts.

Music has been a great carpet of fulfilment carrying this one massive generation into old age with a love of exciting music. It has carried the musicians too. Forty years ago the Rolling Stones were predicted to have about another six months left to their career – by me, as a young journalist, among others – after a flop single.

Here they are still at the top of the rock’n’roll tree (except perhaps for Keith Richards whose tree-climbing ability is suspect) in the first decade of the twenty-first century. Many other hit bands of the 60s and 70s like the Manfreds are still touring the world. The principals – the ‘faces’ – are now well into their sixties and the music is as vibrant as ever.

And what faces they are. The pop stars are the tip of the iceberg but it is generally true that the ‘baby-boomer’ generation – born in the 1940s and 50s – has changed our outlook on life. In previous generations a person in their fifties would have been regarded as old – and moreover would have looked old – with dreary clothes and a careworn look about them. Smoking was so prevalent in earlier generations that their faces would be heavily-lined.

Nowadays people in their sixties and seventies often look good, dress imaginatively and more and more are remaining active within their chosen spheres.

‘Old’ now has shifted into the eighties and nineties (see Diana Athill below) with people living beyond a century becoming commonplace.

And that is the crux of the message in my book ‘Age Before Beauty.’ Extend your active life by continuing to work, to look for jobs and to win new jobs for as long as you feel able. I am well into my sixties now and, like so many people, I feel as though I am up to 20 years younger and I want to go on experiencing this amazing thing called life.

Playing at Augusta National golf course is coveted experience that only a few people ever get to experience. For the best shot for an everyday American to play the course is to practice hard and make the PGA Tour and get invited to play the Masters Tournament.

A even more coveted experience is to wear the Green Jacket which is the award given to the winner of the Masters. But if you win the tournament don’t expect to dawn your green jacket to church on Sunday because the jacket stays in the clubhouse at Augusta. It is rumored that only one person actually has a green jacket at their house and that is the infamous Gary Player.

Most of us average joe golfers will never play a round of golf at the most beautiful course in the country, Augusta National. For those of us that do will cherish the moment, and realized the green jacket will never grace our backs. But hey we can always enter into the lottery system and get tickets to watch watch the pros play at Augusta.

The Masters truly is a wonderful Tournament. And how exciting to have a 3 way playoff. Many of us wish Tiger had been in the playoff, but they were all deserving. And I know Angel was one happy man at the end of the day and 2 extra holes.

Did you see how beautiful the course looked? The green green grass and the beautiful flowers made for a pretty site. On Wed. for the Par 3 contest, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player were in the same 3 some. Wouldn’t that be somethig to see? My father used to go to the Master’s every year and come back with some great stories.

Speaking of homes with golf course views (tricky how I led into that, wasn’t it??) I saw a beautiful custom home today that overlooks Shady Canyon golf course and the hills and valleys in Irvine, Ca. The home, according to the builder, is 12,000 square feet (and I believe it) and the lot is 25,266. 4 bedrooms and 7 baths. All bedrooms are suites with heated floors in the bathrooms. The pool is beautiful and wraps around the side of the house. It has a spa and a waterfall and beautiful rock formations. It looks like it should be in a magazine. Actually…..the entire home does!

And…..all for the amazing price of $10,850,000.

Stay tuned for more exciting golf and beach properties coming soon. Have a Great Day, Sue

This is Gary Player’s last Masters. The three time champ will have his last hurrah with his love affair at Augusta.
People may question-why is Gary Player such a champion-well let me tell you my Gary Player story-At the senior event in Nashville, I gave everyone my book, Mentalrules for golf, and I signed it and placed it into their locker.(My friend was running the tournament so he did me a favor). Out of the whole field, the only person to call me and thank me was Gary Player. That showed me he was a champion because he appreciated the little things in life, and his thank you showed me what true champions do- The golfing world will miss Gary Player, and I am glad and blessed to have been allowed to meet him

Day 2 of the Masters is now over, and we are coming up on moving day. Unfortunately for some like The Big Easy the tournament ended early, but for others, like Anthony Kim, it was a historic day. Anthony shot an amazing 11 birdies today to one up Tom Watson for the most birdies in a single round at The Masters, which was 10. We saw some amazing play from Anthony and from Kenny Perry this afternoon.

I especially enjoyed the discourse between Kenny Perry and his caddie Fred Sanders at the 18th. Kenny was pretty torn between his 9 iron and his 8 iron. Thinking that the 9 iron might be too much but that the 8th might hit the false front and role back down. Fred reaffirmed the choice without any hesitation, and Kenny stepped up and struck it to within a few feet of the hole, impressive as hell.

There was some fantastic play which took place at Augusta, despite both the strong wind and of course new pin placements. Despite the obvious Kim and Perry play, some noteable performances included Sergio with 6 birdies to shoot a 67, much improved from the 73 on Thrusday. (Not even going to mention the belly putter…oh wait) Another big performer, or should I say grinder, Angel Cabrera who shot 68 back to back days. This man must just THRIVE under pressure, first at Oakmont of all places and with almost all Masters champions coming from the top 5 after Fridays…one can only speculate. Chad Campbell is still atop the leader board with Kenny Perry shooting at 70 to follow up that amazing 65 he shot yesterday. His play is quite impressive hopefully his great ballstriking will stay with him throughout the tournament. And of course Tiger Woods isn’t out of this just yet, but I won’t beat that into your mind like our friends at the Golf Channel seem to enjoy doing. Though he is T19 at -2 and the winners have historically come from the top 5 players in the field after Friday, but you never do know what is possible until it happens. This will be an exciting weekend of golf.

Despite all the great golf that occurred today there were a few other events that took place today that were just as moving. Gary Player and Fuzzy Zoeller both took their bows and waves to the patrons as they walked up 18 and finished up their final competitive rounds at Augusta National Golf Course. Both men were in or near tears from that point on. What an unfortunate but inevitable point in the history of this great event, and for golf in general. Both of these men really epitomized what a great golfer is. Both extremely caring and always willing to share a good laugh with anyone around them. I’m sure they will both be missed in years to come, but will hopefully show up to take part in the first drives, and par 3 contests in years to come.

From the very old to the brand new… The amateurs played some wonderful golf for their first competitve rounds at Augusta. Unfortunately none of them made the cut, with Reinier Saxton winner of the 2008 British Amateur who shot a great 75 and 72 to finished +3 to miss the cut by a few strokes. Steve Wilson the 39 year old amateur who we covered a few days ago shot 79 and 75 to finish at +10 and of course did not make the cut either, but represented the Mississippi Gulf Coast very well. And of course the famously young New Zealander Danny Lee who finished +11 with rounds of 74 and a painful 81.

I for one am thorougly enjoying this Masters, but of course, like any other Masters I wish I could see MORE of it. But I do have to say, the online streams from http://www.masters.org are quite amazing. And it is after all moving day tomorrow which will hopefully mean a lot of great golf.

So this week I’m in Augusta, GA working the CBS internet coverage of Amen Corner. This is my 4th year and it is one of my favorite events to work. I see many friends and we work a prestigious event and life is all good. As long as the weather cooperates, that is. So far it has been beautiful! And on Wednesday, the Par 3 Challenge was happening so I thought I would go snap some pictures.

I knew Jack Nicklaus & Arnold Palmer were paired up and wanted to see if I could get some shots. Earlier in the day I had seen Palmer on the driving range, but there is a spot near a scoreboard on the small Par 3 course where I could get really close to them as they rounded the bin to get to the 9th green. So I took my trusty camera out and parked underneath the warm Georgia sun.

Arnie on the range

The only problem with this location is I can’t see the tee box. So I have no idea who is hitting off the tee. So I see the first ball land off the side of the green into the water (plunk). I see the second shot land in the sand (biff). And then a third shot lands on the upper part of the green, rolls down and lands IN THE HOLE!!! Holy CRAP! Someone just hit a hole-in-one and I got to see it (albeit from a distance, but still!). Everyone is shouting out Arnold Palmer’s name, so I thought Arnie had hit the HIO! So I waited and then a couple more shots hit the green and it becomes obvious that now they are just goofing around. Not knowing WHO hit the HIO, I waited until the 3 golfers came by, I took several great pictures of each of them, first Gary Player, then Jack Nicklaus (damn camera freaked out so I only got 1 of Jack) and then Arnie came last.

Gary Player

Jack Nicklaus

Arnold Palmer

So awesome! And I was so excited that I ran back to my workplace (a truck) and told everyone what I saw!

Well…our spotter (the guy who keeps track of all the golfers on the field) was in there and once I proclaimed what I had just seen, he calmly says’ “That wasn’t a hole in one. It was Lee Trevino’s 3rd shot.”

Well crap. And here I thought I had seen Arnold Palmer get a hole-in-one and it wasn’t him AND it wasn’t really a hole in one! So I get on my Facebook page and update my status to say…

I just saw Lee Trevino hit a hole-in-three at the Par 3 Challenge at Augusta!

So that’s that…right?

Nope. because Lee Trevino ISN’T AT AUGUSTA! It was Gary Player who had hit the HI3. But in my excitement, I wasn’t even thinking about WHO had made the shot. I was just disappointed that it wasn’t Palmer. So now all these friends of mine who are golf fans start ribbing me about WHO made the shot! And it carried over until the next day…and will probably continue today. But it was all in good fun…and I DID get some great shots of 3 of the greatest players of all time!

On Wondering Where
I’m sure you’ve been wondering about whatever happened to Doogie Howser? For those eager to know, I found this post from Maxi.

On Dancing with the Stars
Some aspects of the first half rounds of Dancing with the Stars can be painful as the teams segregate themselves into the haves, have nots, and the maybes. As demonstrated this week, the risk of audience participation is an interruption in the pecking order as a “maybe”, comedian David Alan Grier, is bounced at the expense of have-not Steve-O staying. Hopefully, Steve-O’s time will run out next week.

On Gary First, then Pumping Gas … and finally Tiger
Sure it’s Masters week and the buzz is about Tiger, but cheers to Gary Player who announced he’s playing in this 52nd and last Masters. He’s a great champion, a statesman for the game, and a class act. Here’s a post.

Here’s an interesting story of a gas station owner playing in the Masters.

Earlier this week I saw a great segment about Tiger Woods using a software analogy … unfortunately I couldn’t find the video.

Tiger 1.0: The one who burst on top the PGA scene

Tiger 2.0: The one who restructured his swing, and then took his swing to another level

Tiger 3.0: The one following knew surgery proclaiming a new and improved Tiger who has yet to reach his peak

On a Ceremonial First Pitch
Having Captain Sullenberger throw the ceremonial first pitch was great – only to be topped by the person who came up with the idea for number 155 for his uniform number. A tip of the cap to the Giants organization!

On Baseball’s Civil Rights
The Cincinnati Reds will host this years’ Civil Rights Game on June 20 against the Chicago White Sox. MLB has chosen Henry Aaron, Muhammand Ali, and Bill Cosby as this year’s honorees.

On Italy
My thoughts and prayers go out to the people affected by the recent earthquake in Italy.

On a Classic Chuckle
A chuckle from a classic scene to send you into the weekend. Have a good and safe weekend.

Arnold Palmer delivered a ceremonial tee shot to get The Masters started this morning and now we can officially say “Let the games begin!”

As always, The Masters is Tiger’s to lose. But coming off his injury, can he do it? Will Padraig win a 3rd straight major? Will someone else sneak up and take the Green Jacket?

Thoughts?

From the Associated Press:

Padraig Harrington going for his third straight major title; Greg Norman returning to the scene of so much heartache; Gary Player competing at Augusta for the 52nd — and final — time; three brilliant teens taking a crack at the green jacket; and, of course, Tiger Woods.

The world’s No. 1 player had an afternoon tee time in his first major since hobbling to a U.S. Open win last summer, his 14th title in golf’s four biggest events. Woods underwent knee surgery after his playoff win at Torrey Pines, missing the British Open and the PGA Championship.

He returned at the end of February after an eight-month layoff, and showed he’s fully recovered with a dramatic win at Bay Hill two weeks ago. He’s the overwhelming favorite to win a fifth green jacket at Augusta National, which would leave him one away from Jack Nicklaus’ record.

Woods has plenty of competition, starting with Harrington and Phil Mickelson. The Irishman won both majors while Woods was away, including a second straight British Open title. Mickelson is a two-time Masters winner who looks as strong as ever, having already won twice this year.

Palmer got things started on a cool, sunny morning, whacking the ball down the right side of the fairway with his one swing. The temperature was expected to warm into the 70s under clear blue skies, a striking change from foul weather that’s plagued the event the last two years.

First things first – boo to all you “golf fans” who let me say that Nick Price is the next Johnny Miller. I meant Nick Faldo. Regardless, we still do have Johnny, so we can revel in him at his commentating peak, right when Tiger and Phil are in primes of their own. This is good stuff folks.

So day one coverage: The Masters par three tournament, a warm-up the day before the big event, the day the kids play caddie, and the day that actual golf fans try to sever their optical nerve with with a sand wedge because it hurts less than watching.

It’s just so corny. One of the many reasons The Masters is so great are those corny montages that show pink flowers and play classical piano, but only because it’s a nice breather from the suffocating pressure of the golf.

Guys describe it as “respite before the storm” and enjoy that they get to ”see guys have fun” – commentators glorify it so much gay pride marchers would find them flamboyant. It’s a love-fest, a deep-breath before the exhale. It’s weak.

Guys have their kids caddy for them, and by caddy, I mean ramble along in cute little white caddy outfits while the nation collectively sighs “awww…”. It’s sickening.

–Hahaha so cute, look, its – No. stop it, I hate kids.–

Regardless, it’s at Augusta, and I’d rub my face on that grass if they’d let me within rubbing range. So here’s a couple observations from it:

*Nobody has ever won the par three tournament and then won The Masters, so guys consider it a jinx. Players report intentionally hitting balls into the water to avoid winning it. I wonder if any of those idiots ever succeeded in the big tournament. I can’t exactly see Tiger hoseling a shot into a pond for superstitious purposes. Maybe just be better at golf guys, I dunno.

*Fred Couples is playin’ well. Boom-Boom of the bad-back has made a resurgence this year, no doubt thanks to technologies introduced in the physiotherapy world, like muscle relaxers and pain killers. He’s 49 and been in contention on two Sundays this PGA season alone, and was one shot back of winning the nine hole tourny before I puked in my mouth from footage of cute kids turned it off cause I was tired.

*And last, I didn’t know the players picked their playing partners. This enables Jack Nicklaus, Arnie Palmer and Gary Player to play in the same group, combining for about 220 years, nine billion wins and six grand in total earnings, because they played in the 50’s through 80’s.

Okay, maybe a little more.

On the ninth hole, Gary Player hit one in the water, re-teed, and jammed it in the hole for a fancy-pants three. He then proceeded to pound (knuckles) Arnold Palmer. Really, 80-year-old-white-guys? Black folks, it’s officially over. Today, I proclaim the pound dead to non-golfers (us golfers still need it to avoid the awkward “great shot!” moments).

Okay! Tomorrow, one o’clock west coast time, four on the east, the real fun begins. Details to come.

(PS – If you have time and haven’t read my take on socially awkward greetings, you can check it out at: http://jtbourne.wordpress.com/2009/02/10/not-much-good/)

It’s hard to say goodbye. And for golf fans, that lesson has been hammered home far too many times this decade at the Masters.

First it was Arnold Palmer, then it was Jack Nicklaus. Today, Gary Player announced that he would be playing in his 52nd, and final Masters.

Standing about five-feet-seven, he was never the biggest player or the most talented. But, goodness, the man was efficient. What made Player so good was that he knew exactly how to get every inch out of what he had.

Player, 73, won the Masters in 1961, ‘74 and ‘78. He won nine career majors, and along with Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods, is one of only five players to win the career grand slam (Masters, U.S. Open, British Open, PGA Championship).

His passion and love for golf is practically oozing out of his pores. And he changed the game.

Nearly forty years before Tiger Woods emerged on the scene, Player uncovered the relationship between good fitness and good golf. And he continues to amaze. He hasn’t made the cut at Augusta since 1998. But he can still break 80 at Augusta National — last year he shot a 78 in the second round at Augusta, Camilo Villegas shot a 77 that same day.

Player won’t make the cut at Augusta this week. But his mark on the Masters, and on the history of golf, will continue to be felt for decades to come.
