Weather is very windy but otherwise nice. Rain in the area this morning but I saw none. When I looked to the east, it was so very cloudy and stormy looking. But looking to the west it was clear. And half and half to the south.

I took a road trip to Great Bend KS. My best friend Pete lives there with his 2 dogs. His mom is in an assisted living home there. I spent the day with both of them.  Nice to get away and to see them. We ate at the home. Eaten there many times and it has always been great food. But. OMG. Today just plain sucked. Hamburger patty on one half slice of wheat bread with gravy over it and peas. Well. The hamburger was half gristle. The gravy was not quite white but not really brown. Peas would good. It was someone’s birthday so we had a fabulous cake from Dillons.

On the way to Great Bend a house pulled in front of me. A HOUSE. It was as wide as the entire road. NO WAY to pass. I was stuck behind it going very slow for several miles. Finally got to a small town and the driver pulled over and we could pass.

When I am stressed, my palms start to itch and sometimes a couple of fingers. My one palm is now almost unbearable. If I do not leave it alone, it will then become an open sore. Yes, life it good. And it will only get worse and worse.

Forgot to mention this, but yesterday was Kajsa-Jo’s second birthday. How glad we area to have her. Here is a baby photo of her.

We may be smug about the EU in the west, but for the troubled Balkans it offers a vision of hope…

Where on earth, would 88% of a nation’s citizenry want to join us (and Herman Van Rompuy) in the world’s least welcoming club? Steam straight past Brussels and head south. We’re going to Albania, because it tells us something slightly shaming about ourselves – and our smug insularity.

Albania? Economy up this year (by 2%) while most of the world slumped back. Political system on turbulent hold since a June general election so tight that the Socialist losers are still boycotting parliament, filling the streets of Tirana with protests last weekend. But it finally got formal permission to negotiate EU entry last week. The final reward for years of effort may only be a couple of years away (with that 88% support driving on).

When you hear Albania’s president, Bamir Topi, outline his “vision”, it lies at the end of the yellow brick road to Brussels. And when you visit Tirana after a few years away, there’s a new airport, a new motorway into town, streets lined with shops, cafes on every corner, monster blocks of flats obliterating the skyline. Only the potholes remain the same.

There’s an energy and a sense of progress here that catches you by the throat. A small, impoverished country with an improbable Stalinist history is turning its 17 years of freedom into something remarkable. Graft, and assorted deadly sins? Of course. The car parks are stuffed with Mercedes Benz. But that’s only part of a saga that includes resilience, kindness and great good humour, too. If this is the 28th or 29th state of the union, then there’ll be something to celebrate: the continuing power of an idea that we, immured too deep in tabloid ignorance, have lost the imagination to embrace.

What do the 88% see when they look around? A Greece anxious to get Albania in. A succession of visits and speeches from Foreign Office dignitaries – David Miliband, Glenys Kinnock – that look forward to an expanded union. And trouble, north, south, east and west.

Croatia and Slovenia have endured a damaging spat over coastline rights. Bosnia is back at the top of the Balkan instability league as its bureaucratic balances begins to unravel. Serbia, under a more sentient president, is still threatened by that old, black-hearted nationalism from within – and Kosovo is an ethnic disaster waiting to happen. Chuck in two fractious toddlers – Macedonia, Montenegro – and everyone fears a region sinking back into distrust and retribution.

Talk to witnesses from round the Balkans and the EU is the first answer on their lips. Make us more secure. Give us a settled fabric for trade and aid. Help us to feel something more than an agglomeration of spare parts stuck on the end of a continent. And let us feel that if we make the progress you require, it will be rewarded.

And that’s a reason to look across the 1,200 miles from Tirana to London and quake. You’d suppose, from all the dismal dumping on an “unelected” Cathy Ashton, that EU foreign policy is meaningless vacuity. (Whoever elected Henry Kissinger or Condoleezza Rice?) But the foreign policy that matters most to all of us involves stability close to home and relations around our borders.

Can that stop at Calais? A bad joke in a month when the first world war that started in Sarajevo is remembered at a Cenotaph strewn with poppies. An insult to the British troops who help keep fragile peace in Kosovo and Bosnia. An illusion that blanks out the amazing lessons of European life since the Berlin Wall came down. It’s a shrug and a snub to a world that wants to draw closer.

A union of 34 countries or more? It’s coming, through a veil of sneers. And if you still need a battered vision to cherish, come to Skanderbeg Square, Tirana, and find a little hope among the potholes.

Chẳng hiểu trời xui đất khiến thế nào lại cố mà mò mẫm trong google cái tên đã thành xa lạ ấy…rồi đọc lại những dòng mình đã viết từ lâu rồi…và rồi….

Chẳng biết xui hay may khi blog 360 bị mất…nếu đọc lại chắc sẽ đau đớn lắm. Khóc…chẳng hiểu sao thấy người bủn rủn như tụt huyết áp ấy. Người ấy vẫn còn ảnh hưởng tới mình như vậy sao?

Đã bao lâu rồi mà còn chưa quên? Đã bao lâu rồi mà còn thổn thức ? Người ấy chẳng phải đã quên mình, quên hẳn mình rồi sao? Nhớ làm gì, đau khổ bao nhiêu cũng chỉ vậy thôi…niềm hạnh phúc nhỏ nhoi vuột khỏi tầm tay quá nhanh khiến người ta vẫn còn bàng hoàng sửng sốt…

…I haven’t forgotten anything.

There isn’t a single thing…that I’ve forgotten. 

Okay, so I have allowed one week for myself to feel bad about the whole letting go thing. Now, it’s back to work for me. SRSLY.

Yesterday though, I was able to eat 3 times in one day for the first time since the whole problem happened over a week ago. Although, it still cannot be compared to my usual eating habits and how much I eat. I know I love food and I have to eat to survive, but I just can’t put something on my mouth without looking over the seat right next to me or across me, imagining that HE used to be right there. But I have to stop those thoughts or else they will only break me more.

And to my success, I have been able to survive a whole 24 hour period without having a tear escape from my eyes. Although there was one moment where I was having a flashback. But it didn’t hurt that much anymore. I just keep reminding myself of the things he told me the last time we saw each other.

Anyway! I had a really good day yesterday. I felt much better after the whole mess. And it probably had something to do with the fact that I was feeling like more of my old “fashionista” self. I went with my sister and her boyfriend to Greenbelt and first we had lunch at Recipes. I missed their Adobo Flakes! so I ordered them [unable to finish it though].

Then my sister took me to a hidden nail haven in Greenbelt 5 [not a secret now] called Dashing Diva which is located inside the Beauty Bar. They will truly treat you like a diva! And they even have the very first nail dryer in the country. You no longer have to sit around and wait for your nails to dry!

With Dashing Diva, they will let you place your fingers or toes into a partition which has its own air blowing to your hands and feet. After just a few minutes, you can reach into your bag and pay the service without having to worry about ruining your manicure!

Then I went to Coffee Bean & Tea Room to work while my sister finished up her pedicure. All the while I was thinking, getting the Swirl card has been so beneficial to me! Even though I am more of a Seattle’s Best Coffee girl, I am now enjoying Coffee Bean & Tea Room since they have unlimited free Wi-Fi if you have their Swirl card. Whereas with SBC, they will only give you a free one hour access if you reach the minimum of P150.

When my sister finished, we were deciding where to go: either Manila Peninsula or Shangri La Makati. We decided to try Shang since we have just been to Manila Pen.

Although their food can be a bit pricey, they were so good! I got the Tuna Nicoise Sandwich.

As we left, we passed by the Pastry counter where their cakes reminded me of Angel’s designs.

It has been a week and I have given myself enough time to mope and feel bad. But now, I’m feeling much better. Although I cannot deny the fact that I wish YOU were still around, I do agree that I think it’s better this way.

Ma PlayStation 3 60 GO m’a lâché vendredi dernier après un YLOD (Yellow Led Of Death = del jaune de la mort). Après avoir tenté 2 fois de la rétablir, la carte-mère a grillé. Je m’en débarrasse donc et la mets en vente pour les intéressés. Le prix de la console est de 100 € (frais de port non-inclus); il y a également possibilité d’acheter certaines pièces de la console.

Today I came across a blog on wordpress “http://tinyurl.com/yg8la7d” about do we actually need so much of hard disk. Will this need for more ever end..It seems to me like a never ending demand. Back in 2002 we bought a Home PC with 40 GB of hard disk space and it never seemed to me that it will ever get filled up.. LOL

Today I have Laptop with 250GB hard disk and its already filled with only 70GB to spare. With the ever increasing demand I think this will never end…These days I’ am planning to get myself a 1 TB external hard drive and hope so it never gets obsolete…Now that’s pretty much space — but not for long…

Es gibt ja doch einige Unterschiede zwischen den {Mp3-Player nach denen man vergleichen sollte. Mein Player sollte auf jeden Fall einfach zu bedienen sein. Außerdem sollte er schön klein sein, damit ich ihn immer bei mir tragen kann und weiter hochwertig verarbeitet sein. Ob Samsung, Trekstor, Sony ist mir egal. Hauptsache die Qualität stimmt. Wie so oft informiere ich mich übers Internet, wenn ich eine neue Anschaffung tätigen möchte. So habe ich mich gerade über Mp3-Player informiert und diverse Seiten durchstöbert. Neben den gängigen Preisvergleichsseiten hab ich auch eine spezialisierte Seite: mp3-player-tests.de gefunden, welche den Vergleich diverser Player zum Musik abspielen vereinfacht indem Sie die Ergebnisse verschiedene Testberichte übersichtlich darstellt. Auf der suche bin ich auf den Creative Zen X-Fi MP3-Player 8 GB schwarz gestoßen. Er scheint ein sehr guter Mp3-Player zu sein. Zumindest im Vergleich mit anderen Playern. Der Creative Zen X-Fi MP3-Player 8 GB schwarz ist zumindest recht schön und scheint hochwertig verarbeitet zu sein. Ich glaub ich werde mir diesen Player bald zulegen. Zudem scheint er den Bewertungen nach zu urteilen sehr preiswert zu sein.

//След 8 дневна борба с WordPress, най- накрая успях да кача всички снимки за този пост.

Преди 8 дни получих един пакет, който съдържаше туй, за което иде реч. (Ще се опитам да съм кратък.) Пакета съдържаше iPod Touch (Победа!). Най- накрая, след като и аз се сдобих с тая ‘чудесия’, реших да направя ‘ревю’ на самия продукт. Но поради технически причини този пост позакъсня (с 8 дни). Но няма значение.

iPod-ът е трето поколение, с капацитет 8 GB. Ако смятате да си купувате точно този модел iPod, надявам се поста да Ви помогне в решението.

В самото начало кутията изглеждаше така:

Много хубава, гладка бяла хартийка. И точно посредата- стикер.

Мисля, че тук е момента да спомена мястото от което закупих продукта. Apcom- ауторизиран дистрибутор на Apple. Доволен съм от обслужването, всичко стана лесно и много бързо. (Доставката стана за 2 дни и без никакви проблеми- 1 ден- поръчка, 2- ден- получаване на потвърждение за поръчката, 3 ден- пристигане на продукта)

Обратно към стикера- Има едно нещо изписано на него, което всъщност е голяма лъжа. Опитайте се да познаете… Кърпичка за почистване!!! Няма я!!! Как така Apple намалиха толкова бързо цената на iPod-a на 9 септември? Еми много лесно, като махнаха малката черна кърпичка за почистване. (Като че ли, след известно време, ще си купувате iPod и без слушалки… Ми така си е, защо махнаха от второто поколение iPod Touch насам Movie Stand-a от кутията? -Малката ‘уж’ безсмислена пластмаска, на която можете да си оставите iPod-a например и да си гледате филм или подкаст, без да е нужно да държите iPod-a в ръка)

Но както и да е, преодолях го и си намерих друга кърпичка.

След като разгънете хубавата бяла и гладка хартия виждате следното нещо.

Вътре в кутията ще намерите:

-Dock adapter. – Много хора така и немогат да проумеят за какво е тая проклета пластмаска. Тъй като всички iPod-и (Без най- малкия представител- iPod Shuffle) имат еднакъв порт за зареждане/синхронизиране, но тези iPod- и имат различен профил (форма), са нужни такива dock adapter-и. Например- имате Apple universal dock- той затова е ‘универсален’, защото всеки един модел на iPod може да се ‘закачи’ за него, просто трябва да сложите съответния адаптер на самия dock и след това iPod-a пасва без проблем. (Стана малко объркано т’ва обяснение, дано сте схванали нещо)

-USB 2.0 cable- Това представляват двата края на самия кабел, единия е с обикновен USB ‘жак’ а другия е Apple 30- pin connector който се свързва за самия iPod.

-Stereo Headphones- Слушалки с 3.5 милиметров (стандартен) жак. Слушалките са леко извити в горния край и влизат удобно в ушите, околко огрната си част (тази която влиза в ушите) са ‘обвити’ с материал, подобен на гума при допир, който не позволява на слушалките да се изплъзнат лесно от ушите. Смея да кажа, че по- удобни слушалки не съм притежавал. Дори след 2 часа носене, няма нито изтръпване, нито болка в ушите, нещо, което е често срещано при много от подобните модели слушалки. За звука просто не може да се говори, качествен, чист и естествено- стерео.

Ако си поръчате 32 GB или 64 GB модел, ще получите малко по- различни слушалки. На самия ‘кабел’ те имат т.нар. капсула, в която има микрофон, а на нея има бутони за контролиране на звука. (Дори и да си поръчате 8 GB модел, няма никакъв проблем, защото ‘слушалките с капсула’ се продават и отделно.)

-Instructions- В кутията също ще намерите и Quick Start Guide, Important Product Information (на английски и италиански, ако не се лъжа), Apple стикери и нещо много важно- гаранционна карта (Гаранцията е едногодишна)

И естествено самия iPod.

Да, наясно съм, че ръката ми и апарата се виждат, но тая чудесия е като огледало (само в началото, по- нататък се мърси с какво ли не и поради липсата на кърпичката за почистване, неможете да си почистите iPod-a), естествено аз си изнамерих кърпичка (горе- долу свястна) та от време на време го почиствам iPod-a.

Мястото, на което е разположена Wi-Fi антената.

Долната страна на iPod-a. Headphone jack-a, или ‘дупката за слушалките’ ,е 3.5 милиметров и можете да си сложите каквито си искате слушалки.

Като цяло съм доста доволен от iPod-a. Определено го препоръчвам на всеки, който обича да слуша музика докато пътува, да сърфира в интернет, та дори и да играе игри.

Надявам се да съм бил полезен с този пост.

Has anyone noticed the cost of additional storage that Google charges?

What a simple calculation… $0.25 per GB. No volume discount and you have to pay in terms of 2 power x! Is a Geek in charge of setting the prices? For a company like Google, it might not be different from managing 10,000 customers with each subscribing to 16TB than 8 million 8192000 customers with each subscribing to 20GB. But for me it looks funny!

Flash Memory maker, Kingston Digital announced that has struck a deal with Paramount Pictures to bring full-length movies on SD memory cards.

With so many formats of storage out there, and falling prices for SD cards, this might just be the idea to be a hit with the masses. DVD drives and SD card slots are in most computers. If you have a netbook, an SD card slot is most likely in there, making Kingston’s decision a no-brainer.

Then again, it might not be such a smart idea. Other flash makers such as Sandisk have tried to load music albums onto microSD cards with little success. I believe it’s just simpler to skip any physical media storage and go right to digital. The success of the iPod comes to mind. With storage capacities for gadgets ballooning by the month, even SD cards may be dead in five years time.

No information on whether or not the movies would be HD-ready video or not.

Now that Book 3 of Four Reigns has joined Book 2 on my Thai editor’s desk over there in Australia, before I tackle the remaining 320 pages of Book 4, I need to take a break and nothing is more revitalising than switching to another style of writing, from the journalistic ease of Kukrit Pramoj to the patrician coruscations of Seksan Prasertkul.

That’s why (taking a break) I cleaned and waxed my worktable this morning, burned some grass, answered some mail, watered the plants now that the rains are easing out, had the traditional Japanese dinner last night with my daughter to mark her latest, mid-year exam success, and finished reading that Japanese novel in French, Tarō, un vrai roman, by Minaé Mizumura (Le Seuil, Paris, 2009).*

I’ve just laboured on a 1986 short story of Seksan’s, which I had already translated into French more than ten ago when I put together a collection of some of his best under the title Vivre debout (Éditions Kergour, Paris, 1998). But why is it that I always get the impression that my English version is better than the French one? Maybe because, for one thing, I work in English out of several Thai-English dictionaries whereas in French, for lack of a really good Thai-French dictionary, more often than not I practise double translation in my head from the Thai into French via English, a source of approximations, of à peu près. Also because it’s the second time around? Not always. And we’ll see how it goes when I tackle Phan Ma Ba (Mad Dogs & Co) in French.

The other morning I had a shock opening the Bangkok Post. There was a fat article by Sulak Sivaraksa on Seksan with a black-and-white picture of his aged self with one of his dogs on his lap. Was Seksan dead? I had talked to him on the phone only the day before. No, it was merely an early celebration of sorts of his sixtieth birthday day after tomorrow. I called him there and then. He wasn’t aware of the article – couldn’t find a copy of the Post and eventually read the piece on the net. It isn’t for me to say what he thought of that (rather bizarre) homage.

But going back to my labours, it strikes me as funny that my two editors, Khun Na and GB, are total human mismatches to the undersigned, and yet I couldn’t do without them. I find my raison de vivre in work, to the exclusion of almost anything else. I pay for it in a dolorous bottom and swollen feet spending so many hours seated in front of a computer. But I work à ma main, as French has it.

My editors, the one in Australia, the other in Alsace, are both highly competent. They are both women in their sixties, both with an active social life that means much to them. But what’s wrong with these girls? One finds pleasure of a Saturday ‘fast walking’ twenty-seven kilometres to view castle ruins up some Alsatian peak, drinking coffee out of tuna cans; the other writes: ‘have set myself a goal to be fit enough by Feb 6, to walk eight 2000m peaks of Mt. Kosciuszko in two days’! Takes all sorts, really…

Moralité : à chacun sa façon de s’envoyer en l’air.

Tarō, un vrai roman m’a beaucoup plu, pour sa construction en pâte feuilletée (mettre l’auteur en scène est audacieux et payant, la narration de troisième main en sort renforcée, branchée qu’elle est sur le réel et en contraste dudit), pour son démarquage (partiel) des Hauts de Hurlevent sauce Gatsby et comparses, et sa transposition dans un monde balzaconippon à fort message social voire politique, pour son écriture féminine et ses notations psychosociologiques mine de rien, et pour les outrances mêmes de son pathos. L’auteur est un orfèvre.
Que le Japon soit ce que Minaé en dit je ne saurais juger, mais ça me donne (presque) l’envie d’aller voir. Novateur me semble son regard extérieur qui est en fait un regard, une perspective, mondialiste. Minae Mizumura as a child of globalisation.
Ce qui me gêne dans ce grand-œuvre, c’est – outre l’absence de brillant dans le style (mais c’est peut-être dû à la traduction) parfait toutefois pour le mode fonctionnel de la narration – ce qui en fait le prix : une jonglerie littéraire, comme s’il fallait à toute force pour être moderne ou postmoderne chercher ses sources dans ce qui s’inventait deux siècles plus tôt. Un jour, cette dame écrira un roman sans béquilles, si les apparitions publiques ne la stérilisent pas.

Ed Balls, il segretario di Stato britannico per il settore educativo, ha detto che tutti i quindicenni devono ricevere almeno un anno di lezioni di educazione sessuale. Tutti coloro ai quali la religione o i valori morali impediranno di seguire le lezioni, saranno considerati “assenti non giustificati” e potrebbero cosi’ subire provvedimenti punitivi da parte dalle scuole.

La proposta ha sollevato veementi proteste da parte di genitori e di gruppi religiosi i quali sostengono che in tal modo verrebbe calpestato il diritto dei ragazzi di essere educati secondo le convinzioni della famiglia.

I gruppi cattolici e musulmani hanno affermato che si opporranno fermamente all’iniziativa

E ‘te pareva !!!!! La Gran Bretagna è un dei paesi con il più alto tasso di gravidanze e di aborti per in minori di 19 anni. Contenti loro, i cattolici e i mussulmani per una volta uniti!!!

Hallo alle zusammen.

Seit dem Update vom iPhone OS auf Version 3.1.2 ist einiges besser, manches aber auch irgendwie instabiler geworden.
In manchen Situationen verschwinden plötzlich die Knöpfe aus der Menüleiste oder der Slider lässt sich nur noch bis zur Hälfte schieben
Auch habe ich das seltsame Gefühl, dass mein iPod langsamer läuft als der von jemanden anders, obwohl es das gleiche Modell und OS ist, nur meiner mehr Speicher hat.
Ich schätze mal, dass es daran liegt, dass ich einfach mehr Daten auf meinem habe:

Mehr Apps (die die Ladezeiten zum Homescreen verlängern?) und mehr Musik/Bilder/Videos.

Was ich übrigens sehr ominös finde, ist die Anzeige im App Store.
Bei meinem iPod steht da seit OS 3.x “Aktualisierungen” (was übrigens viel zu lang für den Button ist, sodass es dumm aussieht)
Bei dem gleichen iPod eines Freundes steht seit eh und jeh (war bei mir vor 3.0 auch so) “Updates” (Was volkommen akzeptabel ist)
Obwohl auch er das Update auf 3.1.2 hat…. Mysteriös

Alles in allem hoffe ich, dass Apple eine art “tuning-update” rausbringt, was die “alten” iPod touch 2g Besitzer wieder glücklich macht
