<p>For once I am not going to talk Credit Crunch, but Data Crunch.</p>

<p>I am not sure how many of you will have seen <a href="http://www.gs1uk.org/news/media_releases/PR_071009.asp" target="_blank">the GS1 UK Data Crunch Report</a>, but whether you are a buyer or a supplier, it is well worth a read.</p>
<p>“GS1 UK’s ‘Data Crunch’ report estimates that UK grocery retailers and suppliers can realise savings of at least £1 billion over the next five years as data inconsistencies are ironed out across the industry and pass the benefits to consumers through better informed choices and improved shopper experience.”</p>
<p>The report goes on to point out that bad data is to blame.</p>
<p>Bad data has a severe cost impact on the industry in three main areas:<br />
• the cost of manual workarounds to source missing data and correct errors<br />
• administrative shrinkage costs in areas such as ordering and invoicing<br />
• lost consumer sales through shelf stock- outs.</p>
<p>The solution suggested is Global Data Synchronisation (GDS), which enables product information to be shared between retailers and suppliers. However, it should be noted that implementing EDI would also improve the quality and accuracy of data flow, and must also be considered.</p>
<p>Page 9 of the report shows “Critical points that reduce supply chain efficiency” and in most of the functions shown here, both GDS and EDI would decrease mistakes and increase efficiency and accuracy.</p>
<p>So while new technologies such as GDS would give companies the advantage, they should not forget old technologies, such as EDI, that have been around for 25+ years helping the supply chain.</p>

<description><![CDATA[Vendredi dernier, au Palais Brogniart, à l&#8217;initiative de Frédéric Vanhoutte, a eu lieu le prem]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Vendredi dernier, au Palais Brogniart, à l&#8217;initiative de Frédéric Vanhoutte, a eu lieu le premier <strong>TO.TE.C</strong> (Tourisme Technologie Conférence). L&#8217;objectif était de dresser un panorama des impacts de la technologie sur le secteur du tourisme, grand consommateur et utilisateur de techno.</p>
<p>Le thème fédérateur qui a sous-tendu toutes les interventions était: «<strong>Comment consommerons-nous, grâce aux technologies à l’horizon 2020 ?». </strong></p>
<p>Les représentants de Sabre étaient là, avec d&#8217;éminents stratèges en développement technologique issus de Google, Microsoft, Blackberry,  CRM Métrix, SNCF, ou encore des start-up comme la radio numérique Goom.</p>
<p>Quel rapport avec la fonction Achat, me direz-vous ? Quel est le lien entre techno et mieux acheter ?</p>
<p>Eh bien, cette plongée dans le futur proche, en chaussant les lunettes technologiques, je l&#8217;ai trouvé éclairant sur des évolutions à venir qui vont toucher tous les secteurs d&#8217;activités. Car si le coeur du sujet était bien le voyageur et son comportement  qui évolue et se transforme au moyen des apports technologiques, les analogies avec beaucoup d&#8217;activités en entreprise était évident.</p>
<p>Difficile de vous résumer toutes les idées originales qui ont émaillé cette journée complète: En relisant mes notes, je retiens par exemple:</p>
<p>-L&#8217;importance des<strong> réseaux sociaux</strong>, qui devient l&#8217;outil à maitriser absolument. Ainsi pour l&#8217;acheteur, une partie de son travail se veille, le &#8220;marketing achat&#8221; ne devra t-il pas se faire, de plus en plus, en maitrisant les arcanes du réseau social ?</p>
<p>-La segmentation des consommateurs par<strong> génération</strong>: Il a été largement mentionné le créneau de la<strong> génération dite &#8220;Y</strong>&#8220;:  A la fois ouverte, volatile, très à l&#8217;aise avec les outils, mais aussi précaire, fluctuante, difficile à cerner dans ses attentes. C&#8217;est elle qui s&#8217;approprie les technologies, joue avec, en lance les tendances, et donc influence très fortement les autres générations. Bien que difficile à cerner, cette génération émergeante des 25- 35 ans est fidèle à la marque qui a su la convaincre. Encore mal appréhendée par les pros du marketing, cette génération Y donnera quel type d&#8217;acheteurs ? L&#8217;acheteur Y du 21ème siècle serait donc:</p>
<p>-un fou de techno,</p>
<p>-à la fois ludique et engagé,</p>
<p>-volatil dans son fonctionnement, mais fidèle à ses passions ?</p>
<p>Concernant plus spécifiquement le secteur du <strong>voyages d&#8217;affaires:</strong></p>
<p>-Pas de retour à la fabuleuse tendance de 2007, avant les 5 prochaines années</p>
<p>-<strong>Taxer le voyageur devient de plus en plus économiquement effarant</strong>, pour un secteur d&#8217;activité maintenant en difficulté importante</p>
<p>-<strong>Légitimer les déplacements professionnels</strong>: La tendance de plus en plus est d &#8216;assimiler déplacements professionnels à pollution, développement durable oblige.</p>
<p>Il est important de construire l&#8217;argumentaire des points positifs (facteur d&#8221;échanges, d&#8217;échanges culturels, donc de paix) du déplacement professionnel, pour éviter de créer une image trop noire. La tendance sera de se déplacer plus, mais en se donnant comme objectif de polluer quatre fois moins.</p>

<p>Folgende Feature haben laut Umfrage das stärkste Interesse sowohl bei Geschäfts- als auch Urlaubsreisenden:</p>
<ul>
<li>Flugstatusinformationen (72 %)</li>
<li>Wettervorhersagen (68 %)</li>
<li>Hotelumgebung auf einer Karte anzeigen (67 %)</li>
<li>Flight performance [kann ich nicht interpretieren] (65 %)</li>
<li>Informationen zum Ziel und City Guides (64 %)</li>
</ul>
<p>Interessant sind auch die Ergebnisse des Vergleichs Europa mit Nordamerika, in dem sich zeigt, dass mehr Europäer bestimmte Dienste wollen, als Nordamerikaner:</p>
<ul>
<li>71 % der Europäer wollen mit dem Mobilen Gerät einchecken, verglichen zu 64 % Nordamerikaner.</li>
<li>64 % der Europäer würden gerne mit dem Mobilen Gerät einen Sitzplatz im Flugzeug wählen, verglichen zu 59 % Nordamerikaner.</li>
<li>55 % der Europäer wollen ihr Reisegepäck mobil verfolgen lassen, bei den Nordamerikanern nur 45 %.</li>
<li>54 % der Europäer würden gerne mit ihrem Smartphone bei Flügen in eine höhere Klasse umbuchen, verglichen zu den 44 % der Nordamerikaner.</li>
</ul>
<p>Diese Ergebnisse verwundern mich nicht sonderlich, denn den Nordamerikanern stehen derart Dienste teilweise schon zur Verfügung, den Europäern weniger, so das sie natürlich ein größeres Bedürfnis danach haben.</p>

<title><![CDATA["Future Innovations in Airline Distribution" Condensed]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Here are the highlights from my recent presentation at <a href="http://www.casma.org">CASMA</a> titled  &#8220;Future Innovations in Airline Distribution&#8221;.   The <a href="http://gillespie411.wordpress.com/2009/10/28/the-future-of-airline-distribution/"></a>original deck has about 50 slides, but because it was designed for a live 60-minute speech, it&#8217;s hard to get the meaning of many of the slides (nearly all pictures) by themselves.  So here&#8217;s the 3-minute version:</p>
<p><strong>Channels have limits.</strong></p>
<p><strong><a href="http://gillespie411.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/channels-have-limits-jpeg.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-545" title="Channels Have Limits" src="http://gillespie411.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/channels-have-limits-jpeg.jpg?w=300" alt="Channels Have Limits" width="300" height="224" /></a></strong>Distribution channels are essential to commerce, but they have limits.  The Panama Canal has to build wider locks to accommodate the newest and largest cargo ships.  This is a metaphor for the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_reservations_system">GDS</a> distribution channel, as it cannot handle the &#8220;wider&#8221; content that airlines want to distribute today.</p>

<p>The <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_reservations_system">GDSs</a> are <strong>good at moving simply-structured</strong> data.</p>

<p style="text-align:left;">GDSs have been built to display <strong>rows and columns</strong> of data.  That works fine for the basic airline content of seats, fares and availability.</p>

<p style="text-align:left;">But airlines <strong>now need to sell more</strong> than just commodity seats and fares.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Today, airlines are keenly interested in selling <strong>non-seat merchandise</strong>.  The problem is that these new items <strong>don&#8217;t fit neatly</strong> into the rows and column structure of the GDS pipes.  <a href="http://gillespie411.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/vegetables-for-sale-colorful.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-538" title="Vegetables for sale" src="http://gillespie411.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/vegetables-for-sale-colorful.jpg?w=300" alt="Vegetables for sale" width="300" height="199" /></a> GDS technology is pretty old &#8211; old enough to not have the flexibility needed to package and display the new content that the airlines want to sell.</p>

<p style="text-align:left;"><a href="http://gillespie411.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/passengers-or-customers-in-jpeg.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-547" title="Passengers or Customers" src="http://gillespie411.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/passengers-or-customers-in-jpeg.jpg?w=300" alt="Passengers or Customers" width="300" height="219" /></a>Airlines have traditionally dealt with <strong>passengers</strong> by focusing on getting a name, an address and a frequent flyer number into their reservation data.  Other industries know much, more about their <strong>customers</strong>.</p>

<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#ffffff;"> </span>The industry is already working on building<strong> new shopping carts</strong> that will hold the new forms of airfares and related merchandise.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><a href="http://gillespie411.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/need-for-new-cart-and-aisle-jpeg.jpg"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-546" title="Need for New Cart and Aisle" src="http://gillespie411.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/need-for-new-cart-and-aisle-jpeg.jpg?w=300" alt="Need for New Cart and Aisle" width="300" height="227" /></a>They&#8217;ll need a <strong>new aisle</strong>, meaning a new distribution channel&#8230;and they are working on this in the form of  <strong>&#8220;direct connect&#8221; </strong>pipes between the airlines and the larger travel management companies and online booking tools.  The challenge for the GDSs is to build out their own new carts and aisles so that the GDSs don&#8217;t lose high volumes of transactions and the associated revenue.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">The airline industry also needs to develop a <strong>much richer understanding</strong> of its customers.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><a href="http://gillespie411.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/rich-customer-profile-jpeg.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-548" title="Rich Customer Profile" src="http://gillespie411.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/rich-customer-profile-jpeg.jpg?w=300" alt="Rich Customer Profile" width="300" height="224" /></a> It&#8217;s not hard to imagine using a <strong>passenger&#8217;s social network information</strong>, along with other opt-in tidbits, to help an airline do a much better job of understanding a customer&#8217;s wants and needs.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Google has recently made inroads here.  See<a href="http://wp.me/pAokL-8g"> this post on &#8220;Social Search&#8221;</a>, which shows how they can leverage your social networks.</p>

<p style="text-align:left;">Finally, I offer the idea of <strong> &#8220;Social PNRs&#8221;</strong>.  <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passenger_Name_Record">PNR</a> stands for Passenger Name Record, and is the backbone of travel reservation and booking systems.  Today, PNRs don&#8217;t mix and mingle very well, especially if they have been created in different booking systems. <a href="http://gillespie411.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/social-pnrs-jpeg.jpg"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-549" title="Social PNRs" src="http://gillespie411.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/social-pnrs-jpeg.jpg?w=300" alt="Social PNRs" width="300" height="224" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><strong><a href="http://www.tripit.com/?ot=6">TripIt</a></strong> has done a great job of integrating these stand-alone PNRs, in the form of itinerary components, for passengers who want all their travel reservation information in one place.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">But there&#8217;s much more that can be done with this concept to <strong>make things easier</strong> for the traveler,  as this slide suggests.  (Note that I assume this would be done on an opt-in basis).</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Well, that&#8217;s the short version of the presentation.  There&#8217;s more in the original deck that deals with past innovations and future factors that will impact the travel industry.  I&#8217;ll send those out to anyone who asks.</p>

<title><![CDATA[Minhas impressões: VGL + SBGames 2009]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Passei uma semana interessante no Rio, para conferir o VGL e SBGames. Infelizmente o tempo estava uma porcaria, sempre chovendo ou nublado. Mas como os eventos não iriam trocar a data por causa do tempo, não tive escolha: tive que conhecer o Rio nestas condições mesmo. </p>

<p>Vou começar pelo meu primeiro evento lá:</p>

<p>Fantástico, imperdível, emocionante, épico &#8230;  não sei mais o que quiser &#8230; Fazia anos que esperava este momento e finalmente conseguir ver o show. Foi realmente espetacular.</p>
<p>Conforme tinha lido um tempo atrás, a apresentação seguia a ordem da história dos videogames, começando com Pong e indo até os jogos mais modernos. Porém como o VGL estava agora na sua quarta versão no Rio (sempre lotando a casa), o show foi completamente modificado, para minha surpresa. Já começou com o Tommy Talarico  tocando guitarra  em Castlevania e seguiu neste ritmo.</p>
<p>A única homenagem a jogos realmente antigos foi quando uma pessoa do público jogou Space Invaders, vestido com uma camiseta que demarcava onde o jogador estava no jogo, ou seja ele tinha que correr de um lado ao outro no palco para movimentar a nave. Se aguentasse 2mins na primeira fase (podendo usar todas as vidas) iria ganhar uma espécie de mini arcade que rodava vários jogos clássicos. Mas por poucos segundos não conseguiu, aliás ninguém nunca conseguiu&#8230;</p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<p>No início o pessoal reclamou que o som da orquestra estava muito baixo, especialmente com a guitarra tocando junto. O Tommy conseguiu entender, com uma dica do pessoal de apoio, melhorando um pouco o som logo em seguida. Mas mesmo assim achei em geral tudo baixo (mesmo quando a orquestra tocava sozinha), esperava algo mais envolvente, pois ás vezes um pessoal sem noção ficava conversando nas mesas ao lado (infelizes!) atrapalhando a apreciação de tantos momentos épicos do show.</p>

<p>Por falar em momentos épicos, o set list foi adaptado, levando em consideração o gosto do público nas edições anteriores (sugestões do povo) e desta vez adicionaram a música de Shadow of The Colossus! Sou muito fã da trilha deste jogo !</p>

<p>Mas mais épico ainda foi quando o Tommy anuncou uma participação especial, primeira vez no Brasil, vindo direto de Tóquio para o show: (pensei que era o Kojima <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> ) o compositor da trilha de abertura de MGS3!! (aquela que parede ser música do 007). Ele tocou com saxofone acompanhado pela orquestra, sendo aplaudido de pé por uma platéia emocionada e feliz. Com certeza no Japão ele não teria a mesma recepção calorosa que teve aqui.</p>
<p>Música de Zelda com flauta, God of War com coral e cantoras líricas (incrível a força desta música ao vivo), MSG (a clássica), enfim muitos momentos fantásticos. É um show que vale a pena ir pois, apesar do ingresso caro, durou quase 4h. (intervalo de 20min para o segundo ato)</p>

<p>Outro momento divertido foi o campeonato de cosplay no início. Houveram boas produções como Snake (que entrou escondido na caixa), com roupa e pintura do rosto muito bem feitas. Mas o que valeu mesmo foi a cratividade do vencedor&#8230; Até ficou meio injusto que o ganhador fez a fantasia mais simples e tosca do mundo, mas o personagem que ele escolheu foi muito bom: o prisioneiro do Metal Slug. Lembram daquele soldado barbudo que ficava amarrado esperando para ser salvo? Pois foi esse. Bastou uma bermuda, peruca e barba. A interpretação foi exemplar também, com a clássica continência e saindo correndo feliz para liberdade. Ele até fez uma caixa com um H gigante (o power up do jogo). Com essa tosquice e criatividade acabou levando o prêmio de melhor cosplay, para a tristeza dos competidores que suaram fazendo produções mais elaboradas, mas que não agradaram a platéia, afinal ela que manda.</p>

<p>Vou falar um pouco do evento, que ocorreu na PUC-RIO. Ele foi organizado da seguinte maneira:</p>
<ul>
<li>Tutoriais em paralelo das 9:00h às 10:40h (nas trilhas Art&#38;Design, Computação, Cultura, Indústria).</li>
<li>Após um intervalo de meia hora</li>
<li>Alguns eventos no mesmo local (Ginásio) das 11:10 às 12:50 (Como Sessão Abertura, Keynote, Fast Track Poster – apresentação em 1min dos posters expostos)</li>
<li>Intervalo longo para almoço até 14:00h</li>
<li>Apresentção de artigos e palestras paralelas até 15:40h</li>
<li>Intervalo até 16:10h</li>
<li>Até 18:50h – Keynote, palestras, tutoriais, artigos, dependendo do dia. </li>
</ul>
<p>Houveram alguns atrasos mas no geral foi assim que funcionou. O complicado foi a chuva que não deu descanso e massacrou os visitantes. Entre um auditório e outro geralmente o caminho era pela área aberta e ai dá-lhe chuva na cabeça.</p>
<p>Algo interessante foi a feira da indústria com algumas empresas demonstrando seus produtos (ex: representação no Brasil de engines internacionais), espaço para falar com o pessoal da Sony sobre o sistema de encubação de empresas locais, etc. Foi a primeira versão desta feira, tudo ainda bem tímido com pouquísimos stands, mas se ela crescer nos próximos anos poderia ficar bem interessante. Vislumbro no futuro grande publishers presentes no evento querendo conferir os projetos produzidos aqui, gerando oportunidade para lançar jogos lá fora. Será que chegaremos a isso? Não sei, mas gostaria que essa feira da indústria ficasse mais forte a cada ano e não acabasse desaparecendo. Quem sabe um dia veremos grandes estúdios (daqui e de fora) procurando novos talentos, gerando oportunidade para negócios e empregos.</p>

<p>Infelizmente o programa do evento só ficou pronto no dia (não tinha online também) e ai não tive como me organizar com tempo para planejar tudo que queria ver, combinar com os amigos de se dividir em eventos paralelos e depois trocar a experiência, etc&#8230;  essas coisas que podem ser feitas quando temos a programação na mão com antecedência. Além disso o programa impresso foi feito num formato “outdoor” muito incômodo. Para ver tudo era preciso desdobrar várias vezes e ficar com um cartaz imenso na mão, tentando descobrir a informação que queria e segurar este banner ao mesmo tempo, que quase enrolava nas pernas <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  . Imagiem várias pessoas com mochilas, folders na mão, guarda-chuva, tentando ler este programa gigante que ficava ameaçando desmoronar no chão&#8230;</p>

<p>Sugiro que o layout do programa das próximas edições do evento seja mais careta (tradicional), usando o formato mais prático de um mini-livro.</p>
<p>Então como não consegui me programar muito sobre o que queria ver, acabei indo de um canto a outro, dando uma olhada no que considerei ser interessante na hora mesmo. Tenho que confessar que achei muita coisa bem fraca, a ponto de não conseguir ficar assistindo por muito tempo. Com títulos dos artigos meio vagos era difícil imaginar se aquilo seria realmente bom ou abordado de um jeito mais genérico. Mas isso é meu gosto pessoal, o público em geral era bem jovem, quase adolescente diria, estão as expectativas são bem distintas.</p>
<p>Depois vendo o CD do evento (entregue só no último dia) achei um artigo bem interessante sobre análise dos jogos da PopCap em relação ao ritmo das novidades e variações de gameplay (Pacing). Deixa eu colocar os créditos completos do paper: Space of Possibility and Pacing in Casual Game Design – A PopCap Case Study (Marcos Venturelli &#8211; Kranio Studio).</p>
<p>Gostei bastante e peguei uns ótimos links para ler mais sobre este assunto que é muito importante em game design. Esta apresentação gostaria muito de ter ido, enfim agora já era.</p>

<p>Minha sugestão para os SBGames futuros: coloquem no ar o cronograma detalhado o quanto antes, é essencial para o público se organizar e aproveitar ao máximo o evento.</p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<p>As palestras mais importantes (os Keynotes) foram todos internacionais: Diretor da IGDA (Jason Della Rocca), pessoal da Sony (Bruno Matzdorf e Michael Foster), co-fundador da PDI e ex CEO da Dreamworks Interactive e ex-EA (Glenn Entis), Microsoft (John Nordlinger), além da Ubisoft que não estava listada no programa inicialmente.</p>
<p>Todas foram interessantes (nunca esperaria ver um fundador da PDI ao vivo), mas (sem citar nomes) algumas foram um tanto quanto &#8220;genéricas&#8221;. Acho importante ter keynotes internacionais, mas também não podemos esquecer que temos ótimos pesquisadores nacionais de renome internacional (gente de CG, etc). Então é bom dar uma misturada. O problema é que algumas palestras estavam mais focadas na empresa do palestrante do que em qualquer outra coisa (&#8220;minha empresa vendou X milhões de jogos, possui tais franquias, bla bla&#8221;). É bom, interessante,  mas depois fica aquele gosto de palestra institucional. Reconheço o ernome esforço dos organizadores em trazer gente de fora, mas acho que o foco poderia ser mais direcionado para o pessoal que lida diretamente com desenvolvimento, ao invés de representantes de empresas. Por exemplo game designers (ok, estou sonhando alto&#8230; mas tem muita gente indie fantástica que talvez aceitasse um convite para conhecer o Brasil). Esqueça Kojima, estou falando de alguém como Jonathan Blow (designer de Braid). Talvez ele poderia vir até aqui, nunca se sabe até convidá-lo. <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Estudei algumas palestras dele feitas na GDC e outros eventos (disponíveis no blog de Braid) com o grupo de estudo em game design que temos na Unisinos e é realmente incrível a discução que elas podem gerar. Acredito que o Jonathan será um dos principais responsáveis pela evolução do game design no futuro, transformando jogos em algo mais artístico, profundo e “sério” do que é hoje. É difícil comentar isso brevemente, mas quem se interessou procure suas palestras no blog de Braid, tem coisas ótimas lá.</p>

<p><strong>FESTIVAL DE JOGOS INDEPENDENTES</strong></p>

<p>Enviei meu jogo (Reflexor Zero) para o evento, apresentei para os jurados (incluindo pessoal da Sony) e fiquei feliz ao receber o troféu de melhor jogo independente para PC na noite da festa do SBGames! Com o pratrocínio da Oi Futuro, foi criado o prêmio NAVE, que na realidade era a mesma coisa que o festival de jogos do evento.</p>

<p>A cerimônia de premiação foi uma grande produção com apresentadores, banda ao vivo, cosplay da Samus (<a href="http://www.yukicosplay.com/site/yuki/pt/home" target="_blank">Yuki</a>) e vinhetas no telão para cada categoria (muito bem produzidas). Para as empresas houveram prêmios de melhor game design, áudio, história, etc. Para os indies somente melhor jogo PC, Mobile e Console.</p>

<p>Algo que achei bizarro foi a eleição do voto popular do festival, feito no útlimo dia do evento no ginásio. O normal seria deixar os jogos disponíveis para o público durante todos os dias e com voto de cada um escolher o melhor (colocar 1 cédula para votação dentro da pasta de cada inscrito). Porém isso não foi feito, quem tentou ir na sala dos jogos para experimentá-los, geralmente encontrou a porta fechada. </p>
<p>O juri popular foi por aplausos, ao ver o vídeo ou o jogo (pela primeira vez) no telão. Ou seja, em vez de sentir como era o gameplay de verdade, jogando o jogo, o pessoal tinha que ver um vídeo de 2mins ou ver alguém jogando na hora por pouquíssimo tempo e então aplaudir. Quem tivesse o aplauso mais forte (dífícil medir isso) ganharia um livro. Achei uma escolha muito estranha não deixar o público jogar&#8230; Afinal se eu fizer um jogo acessível, que começa fácil nas primeiras fases e depois complica mostrando algumas inovações,  como pode o público perceber isso ao ver alguém jogar por 1min no telão? (ainda mais se jogar mal&#8230;). Enfim sugiro fortemente abandonar este método nas próximas versões do evento! Deixar o povo jogar também é crucial para o autor observar e ter a chance rara de fazer um betatest com gente que nunca viu o jogo antes, obtendo informações excelentes para melhorias futuras (de acordo com a reação e comentários do público).</p>

<p><strong>SBGAMES, ENFIM VALE A PENA IR?</strong></p>

<p>Muita gente me pergunta isso. A respota é: VALE.</p>
<p>Apesar de alguma coisa ou outra que não agrade a todos, é o maior evento do país na área de jogos, cresce a cada ano e já tem uma certa visibilidade internacional. Quem quer que o evento melhore, não adianta reclamar, tem que ir, participar e discutir melhorias para o próximo ano (será em Florianópolis, bem mais fácil de ir para o pessoal daqui do sul).</p>
<p>Por falar em eventos, temos aqui o nosso GDS, na Unisinos. Desta vez será dia 20 e 21 de novembro. Teremos muitas atrações como palestras, tutoriais, campeonatos, festival de jogos e de arte&#8230; E além de tudo é gratuito !</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>It’s always fun trying gigs somewhere that little bit different… So last Thursday Alcopop took to G&#38;D’s Ice Cream Parlour on the Cowley Road in Oxford (so a bit of a homecoming show in essence). How lovely it was, and amidst copious amounts on magnificent flavoursome ice cream (with gummy bears the only choice) a vaguely confused crow gathered, wondering what to expect. I too wondered. Slightly worried.</p>
<p>On first, and supplying the PA were the charming Boog who impressed a strong local following, before The Family Machine swept up the gig in a folk-tinged fist of glory. Reminiscent of a bunch of old country yokels (without the straw hats) they sat on a bench and regailed delighted revellers with new songs, old songs and all sorts really. They were ace; consummately delicious some might say. In terms of ice cream, imagine a big nutty caramel swirl served on a wafer – with added smartie topping.</p>

<p>Then came the Candle Thieves, clearly delighted with the scene, to deliver what has to go down as one of the top ice cream shows ever seen in Oxfordshire….  Sparklers, glockenspiels, ceremonial reveries of some starry-eyed kids and more, they left the stage to a standing ovation. Hot chocolates and sugar topped waffles flying about in abject happiness. A super night!</p>

<p><span style="color:#339966;"><strong>Abstract:</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color:#339966;">Background and objectives: Difficulties in communication and lack of suitable pain scales may lead to undertreatment of pain in cognitively impaired patients. We performed a study in this type of patients and evaluated the usefulness of four simple pain scales.</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#339966;">Patients and methods: We studied 41 hospitalized elderly (76–95 years) who suffered from pain with an acute component. Cognitive function was assessed with the mini-mental state examination (MMSE) and the degree of depression was assessed on the geriatric depression scale (GDS). Pain intensity was assessed at rest and after a pain-provoking movement three times at 2-week intervals by repeating the test at a 10-min interval at each test session. The pain scales were the 50 cm red wedge scale (RWS), the seven-point faces pain scale (FPS), the 10 cm visual analogue scale (VAS) and the five-point verbal rating scale (VRS).</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#339966;">Results: In group MMSE≥24, patients were able to use all four scales rather successfully. In the other groups (MMSE 17–23, 11–16 and ≤10), only the use of VRS was successful to a reasonable degree (64–85% on average). GDS scores did not correlate with the pain scores, with the exception of pain scores on FPS during movement (P&#60;0.01). The estimations of intensity and frequency of pain performed by nurses failed to correlate with the patient&#8217;s own pain intensity estimations.</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#339966;">Conclusion: Scoring of pain with RWS, FPS and VAS seems to be feasible in elderly patients with a normal cognitive dysfunction. In our study VRS appeared to be applicable in the elderly with a clear cognitive dysfunction, i.e., with MMSE&#60;17.</span></p>

Dies geschieht durch innovatives Marketing, Kostenersparnis durch Aktivitätenbündelung, attraktive Einkaufskonditionen und Transfer von Know-how in die Hotels. Best Western stellt für alle relevanten Marktsegmente die Vertriebs-und Kommunikationswege bereit. </p>

<p>Als erste Hotelgruppe startet übrigens Best Western Deutschland im Herbst 1998 die flächendeckende Installation des Intranets, ein in sich geschlossenes, elektronisches Kommunikations- und Informationsmedium. </p>

<p>Als Sachbearbeiter Reservierungssysteme habe ich bei Best Western in 1994 angefangen. Dateieingabe sowie Datenpflege für die Deutschen Best Western Hotels im firmeneigenen Reservierungssystem, war damals mein Hauptaufgabenbereich. Aufgrund der Tatsache das die elektronischen Reservierungssysteme immer mehr an Bedeutung gewonnen habe, Mitte der 90 Jahre, wurde ich 1995 mit der Aufgabe betreut die Abteilung Reservierungsservice aufzubauen. </p>

<p>Der Bereich Reservierungsservice hatte folgende Schwerpunktmässige Aufgaben: </p>
<p>Support und Betreuung aller Best Western Hotels. Aufbau einer Support &#38; HelpDesk Abteilung<br />
Aufbau der Abteilung Customer Service<br />
Beratung hinsichtlich optimaler Darstellung im Reservierungssystem, sowie in allen angeschlossenen Third-Part-Systems [ GDS und Internet ]<br />
Weiterentwicklung des firmeneigenen Best Western Reservierungssystems<br />
Schulung im Bereich Reservierung, für alle angeschlossenen Best Western Hotels und der Best Western Service-Zentrale<br />
Konzeption des Trainingsangebots und der Trainingsabläufe, Entwicklung neuer Trainingskonzepte<br />
Definition, Erstellung und Pflege von Schulungsunterlagen und Handbüchern<br />
Teilnahme an Testrunden für neu entwickelte Releases<br />
Konzeption des Software Roll-outs der neuen Reservierungssoftware, inkl. Schulungen und Installationen.<br />
Erfassung und Abstimmung von den Deutschen Benutzern Wünschen mit der Nord-Amerikanischen IT-Abteilung hinsichtlich der Weiterentwicklung des Best Western Reservierungssystems<br />
Auf- und Ausbau des internen Reportingsystems </p>

<p>In <strong>1998</strong> wurde mit der Entwicklung und Einführung des Best Western Intranets begonnen. Aufgrund meiner Leistungen beim Aufbau der Abteilung Reservierungsservice, wurde mir die Leitung der neu geschaffenen Abteilung &#8220;Neue Medien&#8221; angeboten. </p>
<p>Der Bereich &#8220;Neue Medien&#8221; hatte folgende Schwerpunktmässige Aufgaben: </p>

<p>O chapter Rio Grande do Sul da International Game Developer Association (<a href="http://www.igdars.org" target="_blank">www.igdars.org</a>) com apoio do curso de Jogos Digitais &#8211; Unisinos, Ludens Artis, Aquiris, Audax Dreams e Mura Games estarão promovendo no dia 11 de setembro de 2009 às 19h no Auditório Sérgio Concli (Unisinos) o evento <strong>Live to Play &#8211; Advergames: Visões Técnica e Mercadológica. </strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>Além de apresentar a IGDA/RS, estará sendo apresentada a Missão Técnica para Game Developer Conference 2010 em São Francisco e as palestras do Marcelo Quinan (AG2), Amilton Diesel e Maurício Longoni (Aquiris) tratando de advergames sob as óticas do comprador e do desenvolvedor.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Para quem não conhece a IGDA é uma associação internacional que promove a integração entre desenvolvedores de jogos digitais, universidades e empresas locais. No Brasil temos 3 chapters: Recife, São Paulo e São Leopoldo-RS. O chapter IGDA/RS além do Live to Play vai apoiar a universidade no GDS 2009 e possivelmente em dezembro teremos mais um evento.</p>
<p>(Obs: GDS é outro evento anual, bem maior, que será realizado mais no fim do ano. Divulgarei aqui quando chegar o momento)</p>

<p>Az internet térnyerése folytán egyre többen használják az online foglalási oldalakat, amennyiben repülőjegyre van szükségük. Az oldalak használata során előfordul, hogy többszöri frissítésre mindig más árat ad ki a rendszer. Jelentem, ez nem a weboldal hibája <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' />  </p>
<p>Amikor foglalást kezdeményezünk egy weboldalon, akkor gyakorlatilag egy <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_reservations_system" target="_blank">GDS</a>-t (Global Distribution System) használunk. Ezekből a rendszerekből nincs olyan sok, csak néhány (Amadeus,Galileo-Worldspan(Travelport),Sabre,stb.). Ezeket a rendszereket használja az egész világon mindenki, aki helyfoglalásokat készít (leszámítva pár saját, légitársasági rendszert). Így fordulhat elő, hogy az egyik pillanatban van hely egy járaton x forintért, a másik pillanatban nincs, vagy az egyik pillanatban nincs, később már van (mert közben valaki törölte a foglalását).  Így érdemes párszor ráfrissíteni az adott keresésünkre, hogy a legjobb árat kapjuk. </p>
<p>És hogy milyen weboldalakon érdemes foglalni?</p>
<p>Hát, ha van kedvenc légitársaságunk, akkor annak weboldalán &#8211; bár nem mindegyik légitársaságnak van magyar nyelvű oldala. Ha nincs kedvencünk vagy nem vagyunk egy légitársaságnak sem törzsutasai, akkor érdemes felkeresni valamelyik utazási iroda weboldalát, akik árulnak repülőjegyeket is, vagy esetleg el lehet látogatni a  ferihegyi repülőtér weboldalára (itt is lehet most már online repülőjegyeket foglalni). A végösszegek még így is változhatnak, hisz pl. a légitársaságok a saját oldalaikon lehet, hogy online foglalás esetén adnak  kedvezményt, vagy a szervízdíj, amit a foglalásokért felszámolnak általában mindenhol(akár utazási irod, akár nem), lehet weboldalanként különböző.</p>

<p>The goal of improving distribution and raising the profile of individual hotels and chains within the Global Distribution Systems (GDS) is not as complicated as it may appear. Hoteliers can take control of their distribution within the GDS by gaining a better understanding of the opportunities available and by proactively marketing their properties.</p>
<p>Opportunities can range from specific targeted advertising to ensuring hotels obtain top placements on a hotel list.  Through a few simple steps it is possible to ensure the maximisation of bookings and revenue using such features as “Best Available Rate” and “Hotel UpSell”. There are a wealth of advertising opportunities within the GDS, which opportunities are appropriate depends on the end result the hotel is looking to achieve. Hotels may be trying to promote their brand, a specific property, and or specific destinations, while others may be looking to push a special promotion or perhaps pursuing a new target market.</p>
