Eve was upset about the condition of her iPhone when I gave it back to her, so I called up Apple’s tech support guys. They told me that angry destructive rages aren’t covered under the warranty. Those fuckers! I could kill Steve Jobs so hard for this.

Finally! I thought it would never stop asking me to love it. Steve Jobs should work out that bug.

Okay, I admit it, I’m a big fan of Doremon, ever since I could read I would have a copy of doremon comics by my side.  So when I saw this life size doremon who can react to it’s environment, I’m super excited.  Only thing is that it talks in japanese.  Right, time to hit those rozetta stone store now.  Check it out here.

This keyboard is good enough to eat, literally.  Made out of biscuits, chocolates and marshmallows, this tasty treat won’t last long next to my mouse.  Problem is the sticky fingers you have after typing, then again, I sure would enjoy lickin ‘em.

Microsoft have officially announced the Zune HD.  Now it comes with full  OLED 3.3″ touch screen (no more sqwhellie thingy) and can display 720p video (output).  Also wifi and Zune Music Subscription service.  It can connect to Xbox Live which will mean gaming on the Zune too. It’s not like i love PC’s very much. I’m an Apple geek. But this Dell Adamo seems on nice little brushed metal laptop.

With some great features: SSD disk, 13,4 inch wide screen (exactly the right size for a laptop in my opinion), up to a 1,4 GHz Intel® Core 2 duo processor, expandable up to 4 GB ram, backlit,…

But with a pricetag of $ 1,999 or $ 2,699 I guess I’m back peeking at the Macbook Air.

If you haven’t heard by now, Palm have just announced their latest smartphone handset call “Pre”. One word, UNBELIEVABLE!  Everyone in the world (including me) had doubts about Palm coming up with something great to challenge the already super crowded mobile market.  But I think they did it, this is by far the most gizmo smartphone I have seen, even beating the iphone.  Hardware wise, it’s got everything, bluetooth (Stereo), aGPS, Wifi, 3mb Camera, LED flash, touchscreen (multi-touch), nice form-factor.  But the killer feature is actually the user interface, named WebOS , there’s nothing like it.  It’s entirely based on webkit which means everyman and their dog who knows web programming can make an App for it.  I don’t have time for details so you can check out all the hype regarding this phone (Try engadget or gizmodo).  I think I’m in love again.  Check out the official Palm Pre here.

Notebookreview.com have a great little review of the now available Lenovo Netbook S10.  I really like the design of this laptop compared with all the other netbooks around.  It has more features like build-in bluetooth and a external express card slot.  Only thing is it only have 2x USB where most others have 3.  Anyway, will try to find one to play with, my Eeepc is lookin real old…  You can tell I really like this one. PC Mag have done a review for Lenovo’s new umpc call the IdealPad S10.  It didn’t wow them too much.  I personally like the look of it, something to think about when I upgrade my EeePC 7″.  Check out the review here.

HTC is to launch their very first Android phone named “Dream” tomorrow (09/23/2008) at a New York Event.  T-mobile will be the lead carrier to sell this phone.  Looks promising, the software feels smooth and have alot of potential tho the Handset looks abit bulky.  I’ll probably wait abit longer before getting one of these babies.  Check out a demo here.

Apple have updated their entire range of ipod products starting with the shuffle, nano, touch and classic.  The ipod with the most change is the nano where it’s gone back to the long shape. Apparently many people didn’t like the little fatty, i personally thinks it’s ok.  It comes with an accelerometer so when tilted sideways would make it landscape mode.  Also, there’s this new cool feature where you shake the nano, it will shuffle to a new song.  The Touch now looks similar to the iphone 3G but with a chromed curved back, also there is now a build-in speaker with physical volume controls on the side.  You can also record voice as Apple have finally enabled Audio-in via the headphone jack.  Check it out here.

Laptop.com did a review of MSI’s Wind umpc.  I’m begining to like this little lappy, 10″ screen, wifi, bluetooth etc. Well, it comes with a standard 80Gb HDD but I would have preferred a 8Gb SSD.  Still, a nice piece of tech, check it out here.

And then came the Terminator….

I have a fridge full of veggies, and no time to cook^*. The weekend saw me skivving off to Stratford (the Canadian spin-off, not the UK original) with one of m’darlings for a couple days of pre-birthday fun. It was nicely uncrowded and even fairly un-touristy at this time of year, particularly considering that it was Mother’s Day weekend. We stayed at the lovely Glenwood B&B, saw  The Music Man at the Stratford Festival, and had a wonderful time browsing some of the interesting shops around town. If you ever make it there, check out Quark Soup and the amazing toy store, Family & Company! They’re well worth a romp or two, and it doesn’t matter how old you are.

The chocolate shops proved a tasty diversion too. The first (Rheo Thompson) was not terribly vegan-friendly, but the second (Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory) offered one of those happy vegan experiences that make time away special. We showed up, made our usual “do you have anything without eggs or dairy” request, and promptly got a personal, friendly tour of the half dozen options available to us. The Power Hounds (dark chocolate coconut clusters) were soooooo good. I’m not sure it’s a good thing that I just discovered they have a shop in nearby Kitchener, and another in downtown Toronto, and yet another in the very airport I’ll be passing through on Wednesday…

But really, the culinary highlight of Stratford? VegOut. It’s a little vegan cafe just off the main strip. Great location, even better food. If we’d been Good And Responsible Food Critics^TM, we’d have ordered a few different dishes to share, so that we could report back on the full range of offerings. We didn’t. In place of long excuses, I’ll give you three words:

Fish. And. Chips.

Okay, let’s make that four: Vegan. Fish. And. Chips.

Yes, you read that right. They offered battered fake fish, complete with vegan tartar sauce. It mimicked real fish and chips well enough to suit my rusty memory. In fact I liked these far better than I ever liked the real thing — most F&C always seemed to be made with either low-quality fish, or come over-battered or over-greasy. These were crispy, well-filled, fried but not greasy, and very tasty. The fries were equally good. We both ordered the same thing without even hesitating. Then we went back later for dessert. The apple-raspberry pie was wonderful — nice tart apples, a good crust, and I even got to enjoy that crust since it was heated in an oven rather than a microwave, and thus wasn’t soggy and gross. The soy hot chocolate was the most chocolatey I’ve had outside my own kitchen. M’darling found his chocolate-peanut butter ‘cheesecake’ less rich than the versions we’ve had at Vegetarian Haven in Toronto, but enjoyed the couple bites he managed to steal of my pie.

I took no camera and thus took no photos. Just take my word for it — the food was fabulous and you too should go there if you ever have the chance. We found the place through HappyCow. Travelling? So those were the highlights of the weekend. Tomorrow I’m off to Toronto, and Wednesday I’m off to Boston. At this point I’m not even sure when I’m back, but certainly by this time next week. Cookery, photos, and assorted blathering to resume then, or sometime near then. =)
