Exile, is a legend waiting to be acknowledged as one. With continuos creativity pushing him to the edge every time , he consistantly shows us that he is a true musician looking for the bliss of that next track!

His first record appearances came as a member of hip hop duo Emanon alongside rapper Aloe Blacc. They released various singles beginning with 1998’s “P.S.I.” before releasing their debut album, Anon & On. After 2002, Exile went on to release one more Emanon album well as a solo album, 2006’s Dirty Science, and another collaborative effort, 2007’s Below the Heavens. The latter album was critically acclaimed for Exile’s productions and raps by new artist Blu. Exile’s guest production work with artists including Mobb Deep, Ghostface Killah, Kardinal Offishall and Jurassic 5 is also renowned. He claims his influences to be contemporary producers J Dilla, Jon Brion and Madlib. He is known for “coarsely chopped beats” that give off “laid back soulful vibes.”

Big City Woman

Armed with little more than his father’s extensive record collection of jazz, soul, psychedelic rock, folk, comedy and a Kurzweil 2000 keyboard – Black Spade’s music is a melting pot of sounds hailing from St. Louis by way of New York, Detroit, LA, and everywhere that hip-hop has carved a distinctive and influential sound for itself.
Writing and producing all his music along with MC’ng, Spade’s one man team approach is full of burbling synths, and off-kilter drums while his voice slides smoothly over choruses coated in multi-tracked vocals and skipping roughshod drums. Attributing his distinctive sound to his home of St. Louis, Black Spade explains “We get a piece of everything by being in the middle.” However, he feels no harmonious connection to where Saint Louis pop acts like Nelly, Chingy, etc. have taken hip-hop lately. Spade’s style is not like the norm. This undercurrent shows through all his music and can be heard in songs like “Evil Love”(my personal favorite), where the keyboard hits less than a second after you expect it to. It’s subtle, but these little things are what make Black Spade’s music so compelling.
At his core, Black Spade is a producer who makes music because he loves to. His sounds are grounded in the past while still sounding futuristic, and most importantly come from the heart. Spade says, “To get my music out there to people… at the end of the day that’s what really counts.”

Doze Green was born and raised in the upper west side of Manhattan, New York City and was one of the pioneers of the Hip-Hop culture. He first started writing graffiti in his neighborhood in 1974, and started painting subway trains in 1976.
The following year he joined the Rock Steady Crew. The Rock Steady Crew were pioneers of a new style of dance known as breakdancing or B-Boying. The crew first started dancing at art exhibitions and galleries of Soho and the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
During this time Doze was also attending the High School of Art and Design, where some of the most talented and well respected graffiti artists came from. Artists such as Lady Pink, Daze, Ernie Valdez, Seen TC5, Mr. Wiggles, Mare 139, and numerous others. In 1982 Doze showed his artwork in a well known group show at the Fun Gallery. At this same time after appearances in major movies such as Flashdance, Style Wars, and Wildstyle, the Rock Steady Crew was launched into action and the limelight.
From B-boy to graf legend Doze has gone to tagging the hallways of South Bronx projects to designing for clothing lines like Kikwear and Ecko. In the process, he’s become a proponent of the avant-garde “fusionistic” art movement.
Best known for his characters, Doze has begun to concentrate on canvases that blend wildstyle techniques with metaphysical concepts. “I think I’m at the point where I’m movin’ even further, to more distant frontiers like sculpture and 3-D painting”.
“Probably the biggest challenge and the most fun is painting live,” reveals Doze. “There’s a communion between the audience, the DJ and myself. The DJ is feeding off the music, and if the crowd is hype, he goes that extra mile. The same applies to me.”

How much static do these cuttlebug’s create when your doing the nestabilities!! it must be that tanning mat that causes all that friction… It’s just sooo fiddley, trying to get it out from between the plates!!

A post-Thanksgiving thought in ‘inkless and thankful’ which I categorized as ‘gem;’ if there is one ‘valid’ reason for getting tattooed, it must be so all the people against body modification could write and whine about it! Personally, I’m thankful for having gotten as many tattoos as I have to date and I’ll be thankful if I get many more.

Tattoos and good cause again in another ‘Ink, not Mink’ ad (Linkin Park singer this time) and an interesting initiative from the UK based Ultimate Holding Company: the Extinked Project.

‘Slightly’ different is, of course, Wim Delvoye’s project and here another article about him, just to remind people out there of him.

 ‘Tattoos are no lost art’ discusses sports and tattoos again – we’ve already heard all about it. And even if many athletes get inked, many sports fans do so as well; here a Polish gallery of ‘football fans and their tattoos.’

 Athletes, actors and musicians have done quite a lot to change the bad image of tattoos; people in the West are aware of that. In Vietnam the process has just begun: ‘celebrities break tattoo taboo.’

 A nice article from Germany about the oldest tattoo shop in the country shows us quite well the history of tattooing in Europe and a few old-timers covered in ink. Worth checking out!

Ah Black Friday. It is so appropriate to be working on this project during this commercial holiday. How have we as a culture come to this point where something like Black Friday could possibly exist? Not to mention the fact that it gets crazier every year! Are we so easily manipulated by commercial marketing that we would trample our fellow shoppers in the name of a bargain? And what exactly are we gaining by participating? The satisfaction of having won the battle against all other shoppers who may have wanted that deal, but won’t get it because you were there first? Consume, consume, consume, that seems to be all we know how to do. We shop in order to feel better about ourselves, having been brainwashed to think that stuff can fill the gaps in our lives. But let’s not forget that buying things for other people will make you feel twice as good! We attribute all kinds of value to meaningless objects that have no inherent worth-the diamond industry being one of the best examples-especially during this time of year. Here is this meaningless rock, that isn’t even that rare in the grand scheme of geology, which is somehow the most precious and sentimental of objects to be given during the holidays. Watching TV tells us that if you buy her a big rock, she will love you forever and be beautiful and you will have sweet children and a big car and a gorgeous house and a gentle dog in a nice part of town with great neighbors. And if he buys you the right rock, then you will know that life will be easy and wonderful and fulfilling for the rest of your days together.

Yesterdays Schedule: Slept in, straight to studio to pour rubber for mold, realized mistake and invented new mold making technique to fix it, online time, lunch duty, research, dinner, print images, back to room to edit video, read, draw, doodle and write.

A friend had brought her child to work this weekend, in connection with “Children’s Day Celebrations”, and had got her decked up as a Native American.

He was sharing photos of the event with me, last night. (Featured below, Cindy Amrita, posing as a Native American).

An interesting series of mini-discoveries, happened soon after, that I would like to share with you all.

The moment I saw this photo, I was reminded of the very beautiful and silently smart woman I saw in the “Night At The Museum“, the native American lady who comes alive from the exhibit..

The name was complex, was all I could remember, still Google was helpful – Sacagawea was the name, I knew in just seconds..

Googled for her further, and learnt that she was the famous guide who helped in the Lewis and Clark expedition.

Then, tried to learn a bit more of the connection between her and the movie. And, landed on this article about Mizuo Peck, the Japanese-Caucasian actress!

And, hidden, like the proverbial diamond in the rough, was this article by a learned woman of Native American origin, elaborating, among many things, the responsibility borne by media story-tellers.

I was amazed at her command over the language, her ability to express forcibly, politely, yet sternly, what the right thing to do was.

The best thing about the web is this. The ability to level the playfield, to provide each an equally loud mouthpiece, and the once-in-a-while discovery that comes by laden with serendipity where each turn around the corner provides a more interesting vista and a greater learning experience!

In your crew there is a Gem Elevator. This has different    rewards on it and your crew has to get enough gems to get one of the rewards. The Gem Elevator adds up all the gems that you and your crew gets each month and if you get enough then you get those prizes at the end of the month, so your tourist members, you might want to keep up-to-date with the gem codes that you get weekly, so that your crew will get higher rewards. The crew will be on ourWorld in a few days when December begins. If you start a crew please add me. I need one more level before I can start mine and 48 more gems.

In an earlier post, I told you all about gemstone mines, and one of the gems I wrote about was the Amazonite stone which I find absolutely beautiful.

Amozonite is a stone that is aqua-blue and with cream inclusions. It is called the “stone of hope” because it is reputed to have properties that give the one wearing it hope and confindence. Some believe the stone was named for the Amazon River, but others believe that it was named after the warrior women of the Bronze age who were a matriarchal society. I’ll pick the latter!

When it comes to jewelry, there are refined pieces and all natural ones. Amber definitely falls into the natural beauty category.

Amber is one of the most interesting materials that is used in jewelry production today. This natural material is not mined nor created in a lab, instead it is a fossilized part of history. Pieces of amber can be traced back for 90 million years, with most of the world’s amber dating between 30 and 90 million years old. This ancient tree resin is found in several beautiful colors, and can be shaped into many different types of jewelry pieces.

Most of the world’s most beautiful amber gems (this fossilized resin is considered a gemstone even though it does not have the properties of most gems) come from the area around the Baltic Sea. This amber is called Baltic amber, and it is found in marine sand known as “blue sand” in this area. It is believed most of the amber originally came from the sap of one particular type of pine tree, known as Pinites succiniter, and this tree appears to be related to the pine trees of North America and Asia.

Amber is a beautiful, warm gemstone – but it can be made even more interesting if the piece contains preserved life from millions of years ago. Items that have been found inside fossilized amber include plants, insects such as small ants and flies, and even tiny tree frogs that existed millenia ago. Most of these animals and plants decayed within the amber, leaving only the impression (or occasionally, shell) inside the resin.

There are several different colors of amber available in the Baltic area – specifically, Russia, where 90% of the amber on today’s market is from.
