Another killer fusion of hip hop, funk, soul and jazz beckons as Genius Collective return to Freestyle at the Bull’s Head. Genius Collective provided two of 2011’s highlights with their appearances at the night last year, and we are delighted to be welcoming them back for more. With support from Craig Charles’s 6Music Funk & Soul show behind them and a spot in the diary confirmed for this summer’s Mostly Jazz festival, expect big things from this local 7-piece.

Live support on the night comes from Leamington’s finest funk outfit Noke Lick Masheen, Manchester-based hip hop beat technician Mecca:83 and soulful songstress Danieal, who will be opening up proceedings with an acoustic session.

Mecca:83 aka Rise is one of the UK’s hidden Hip Hop gems, offering electronic, break-driven jazz tinged vibes that drip with Hip Hop influence. Genius Collective are lucky enough to have Mecca:83 as part of the GC family, and he had a hand in the debut release; “The Hideout” / “Theory” as our mastering master! This is his DEBUT Midlands performance, so be sure to come down for a very special set.
On the turntables we are treated to a DJ set by Freestyle resident Sam Redmore, whilst Steve Connelly and The Bluebeat Arkestra’s Shaun Patrick Hand entertain the downstairs bar.
