I’m already pumped for the Dan Hardy vs Georges St Pierre fight but whoever put this montage together has done a sterling job.

The date hasn’t been officially announced yet but rumours around ‘tinterweb are that Hardy will face GSP in New Jersey at UFC 111. The GSP vs Hardy New Jersey event is expected to take place at the Prudential Center, which was home to UFC 78 in November 2007.

Tito Ortiz reminded us that ring rust is a serious issue… or that he lost his balls. For three rounds Tito thought about maybe throwing some strikes, and inevitably decided that the good ol’ double leg takedown was the best way to win this one. Forrest, after having suffered a humiliating defeat to The Spider, took this opportunity to end the year on a positive note and worked in some nice stand-up work. For a moment there, it looked like we might see a repeat of the last fight with Tito sneaking a decision with his take downs, but the judges got it right this time, or at least redeemed Forrest for last time.

Josh Koscheck showed the hole in Johnson’s otherwise solid game, finishing him out with a half-effort rear naked choke in the second. As I told my new friends at the bar (shout-out!), “If Koscheck wants to win this he’ll NOT try to box with a beast and remember he was a D-1 champion wrestler!” Wasn’t rooting for him, but damnit he did the right thing. Hmmm… potential matchup with Hardy if GSP’s croth still needs a fixing? …Overall, great night of fights. I was on a hot win-streak until the last three. Kendall Grove just won’t go away.

Wow!

Georges Rush St. Pierre (19-2) wants to go to the 2012 Olympics. With the 2010 Winter Games on the horizon in GSP’s home country of Canada, a lot of people are wishfully thinking of MMA as an Olympic event. But the UFC Welterweight Champ has his sights set on an achievable goal of making the 2012 Canadian wrestling team.

“There is a big difference in me saying, ‘I want to go to the Olympic games,’ and actually going to the Olympic games. It is very hard … you have to pass through a bunch of obstacles before you get there…I’m a mixed martial artist. I like to compete not only in the sport of MMA, but I like the single sports [themselves]. I love wrestling, I love boxing … for me, I love every single [discipline] of the sport. That is why I consider myself a mixed martial artist…It’s tough. It wouldn’t be easy, but maybe we’ll see what is going to happen in London.”

GSP also mentioned during a UFC Fight Club Q&A session that he’s put on about 10 pounds of muscle and is thinking of moving up to 185 for a shot at Anderson Silva’s belt. With GSP dominating the 170 ranks as easily as he has, a move to 185 has been mentioned as the next mountain to climb, but this is the first time St. Pierre has publicly opened the door for a weight class change.

10. Da Michaël Llodra snublet over balljenten.

5. Da Olaf Tufte erklærte at han var i “KJEMPEFORM”.

3. Da Portugal møtte Nederland i VM 2006.

1. Da Tom Henning Øvrebø robbet Chelsea for finaleplassen i CL-finalen.

ALDRI!!! ARGH!

I was enjoying a lazy Sunday afternoon when I got a text message from a marketing director that I’ve worked with a couple of times. Basically it said, “what are you doing tomorrow night? Want to fly to Montreal to shoot Georges St. Pierre? We’ll be back on Wednesday.” At first I thought it was a joke, but then I thought sure, why not? It sounded like fun.

So suddenly my lazy Sunday turned into some frantic planning. What were we shooting? Where? Studio? Location? What did I need to bring in terms of equipment or would we get it all there? What paperwork do I need to get through customs? Would I be able to find my passport that I haven’t used in far too long? The passport search turned out to be the most stressful. I emailed John at 5th & Sunset studios with a list of what I needed and he got right back to me (from home on a Sunday. Love them), letting me know that it would be ready and waiting for me to pick up on my way to the airport.

After flying all night, we arrived in Montreal Tuesday, checked into the hotel and went straight to the gym where UFC fighter Georges St. Pierre trains. He was going to be modeling a total of 12 outfits and we were supposed to have at least a couple with him to get it all done. I had several ideas of things I wanted to do and try, but of course, things don’t always go as planned. When he arrived, he told us that he only had little more than an hour before he had to leave. Since we were all set up and ready to go, we started shooting and finished with a couple of minutes to spare.

UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre for Affliction Clothing.

Part of what I like about photography and especially shooting on location is that no matter how well you may plan, challenges are almost always going to arise. I like having to figure out how to solve those issues and make sure the client gets what they want.

1.Campeão do absoluto – 20pts
2.Campeão de categoria – 17pts
3.Campeão da superluta – 15pts
4.Vice-campeão absoluto – 13pts
5.Vice-campeão de categoria – 11pts
6.Vice-campeão da superluta – 9pts
7.Terceiro lugar do absoluto – 7pts

O país dominou todas as categorias.

Heavyweight Championship: Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Shane Carwin

Light Heavyweight bout: Tito Ortiz vs. Mark Coleman

Light Heavyweight bout: Antônio Rogério Nogueira vs. Luiz Arthur Cane

Welterweight bout: Jon Fitch vs. Ricardo Almeida[

Welterweight bout: Karo Parisyan vs. Dustin Hazelett

Welterweight bout: Amir Sadollah vs. Phil Baroni

Welterweight bout: Marcus Davis vs. Ben Saunders

Lightweight bout: Jason Dent vs. George Sotiropoulos

Diego Sanchez, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, and Shane Carwin are currently number one contende

Diego Sanchez, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, and Shane Carwin are currently number one contenders in their respective weight classes. Who are the next title shots going to after these guys and in the other divisions?

Lightweight

Diego Sanchez currently is set to take on B.J. Penn at UFC 107 on December 12th. After Sanchez the division is a little bit jumbled. The list of those standing in line would have to be Gray Maynard, Frank Edgar, and Tyson Griffin. Those would be the obvious next in line guys. Frank Edgar is set to face Kurt Pellegrino at TUF 10 Finale, which does not seem like a number one contender bout though the winner of that bout will be right a top the divison. Following those guys you have guys like Florian, Guida, Jim Miller, Joe Stevenson, Sean Sherk and even Nate Diaz rounding out the top 10. It would really make sense to have Tyson Griffin and Gray Maynard fight for the number one contender spot. The problem is Griffin and Maynard are teammates, however they are not as adamant about not fighting one another as the AKA welterweights or the Blackhouse Light Heavyweights (Machida and Anderson Silva). The other problem with either Griffin or Maynard is that neither are a marquee name. I would say Maynard has a slight edge of Griffin to get the shot. So out of the before mentioned guys Maynard is probably next in line, but he may need one more win to get the title shot. I do not see any contenders dropping down from 170 lbs though Koscheck has threatened a drop but, not rule out a big name signing. Takanori Gomi or Gilbert Melendez possibly. They may still need a fight to get a title shot, but that would help. For nwo we will go with Mayanrd as next in line.

Welterweight

Georges St. Pierre is currently sidelined with a groin injury, but he will be ready to go again in February. The problem is that a number one contender is not waiting nor does there seem to be a number one contender match in waiting. Mike Swick and Martin Kampmann were supposed to fight for the title shot, but Swick was forced out. Swick is now ready to go and he could fight before the year is over for the number one contender spot or since Kampmann lost to Daley at UFC 103 Swick could just inherit the number one contender status and fight St. Pierre in February. I wouldn’t mind that. However, others a top the divison are Thiago Alves, Jon Fitch, Carlos Condit, Josh Koscheck, Matt Hughes, and even newcomer Paul Daley. Fitch is set to welcome Almeida to the division in November. Alves is rumored to be taking on Paulo Thiago in December. Condit is 1-1 in the UFC and needs a big win before he is in the mix. Koscheck is calling for Hughes and the winner of that one could get in line behind Swick. My guess is Swick gets the shot in February or fights Daley in England this November for the shot.

Middleweight

A week ago the division was jumbled. Dan Henderson and Nate Marquardt both had a case for the title shot. People had discussed Georges St. Pierre moving up to fight Anderson Silva. Yushin Okami is still in the mix. However, Vitor Belfort is the new number one contender at middleweight and the greatest threat to Anderson Silva yet. In fact, I think there is an easy scenario at middleweight. Line up Vitor Belfort and have him fight Anderson in December or January and around the same time pit Dan Henderson against Nate Marquardt and the winner of that one will get the next crack at the belt. I do not know Henderson’s contract status currently or if he is keen on the Marquardt fight, but that makes most sense….really.

Light Heavyweight

Machida is the king of the division. He is set to take on “Shogun” in October, but after that what happens. UFC 107 was suppsoed to feature a number one contender bout between Rashad Evans and Rampage Jackson, but Rampage’s involvement with the new A-Team movie has put that fight on hold until March 2010 or even later. I see two options. The winner of the Brandon Vera vs. Randy Couture fight at UFC 105 or the winner of the Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Luis Cane fight at UFC 106. If Machida were to lose to Shogun we could see Anderson Silva get that fight. I think Tito Ortiz has the marketability to get a shot, but he would have to win against Coleman and probably win one more. So…there is no clear contender in line now though 3-4 guys could earn that shot with a win in their next fight.

Heavyweight

Shane Carwin is next up for Lesnar. For the first time in a long time there are several potential contenders to the heavyweight crown. After Carwin gets his crack it is unclear who is next. Cain velasquez was going to take on Carwin in a number one contender match, before UFC brass decided to just give the title shot to Carwin. Therefore it would seem logical that the UFC gave the next shot to the winner of the Velasquez vs. Rothwell fight. Plus, Velasquez has a big win over Cheick Kongo to his credit. Also, some could make a case for Anotnio Rodrigo Nogueira who is coming off of an impressive win over Randy Couture at UFC 102. However, I think Nog would need one more win and a re-match with Mir would be ideal. Mir is rumored to be fighting Kongo in December, but I think it would be better if that idea was scrapped that the UFC matched Mir vs. Nogueira and Kongo vs. Dos Santos. The winner of those fights would be high up the contender list. However, I do not know if any of those guys would leap from Cain Velasquez should he get past Rothwell at UFC 104.
