Jandi and Ga-Eul

Boys Over Flowers is undoubtedly one of (of not the) most watched dramas if 2009 to date, especially now that one of the top competitiors, East of Eden (who has not been doing so well since about the third/fourth epsiode of Boys Over Flowers aired), has been concluded with its final episode airing the past Tuesday. Boys Over Flowers has garnered many fans and followers. This means that during the actual filming of the drama, there will ALWAYS be fans watching when possible. And this equals spoilers. *Warning: Spoilers after the jump*

Please take everything below with a grain of salt. Nothing is true until it airs, no matter who says it! And these are my own personal opinions, and do not represent the opinions of the production group, cast, crew, or viewers, unless stated otherwise.

It seems as if Boys Over Flowers may not be getting the happy ending we all are wishing for; people at Jeju-do when the cast were filming there took pictures of Jun-Pyo’s and Jae-Kyung’s wedding scene; this could mean a number of things.

1) They are about to get married, but something will stop them (ie. interruptions from Jandi/JiHoo/F3/Ga-Eul/Jandi’s family)

2) Jun-Pyo or Jae-Kyung refuse to go through with the wedding and do not go through with their vows

3) It is a dream/nightmare (less likely) of either Jandi, Jun-Pyo, or Jae-Kyung

4) They really do get married and live ‘happily ever after’ and leave us viewers with a horrible taste in our mouths (I think I would honestly cry and hate Group Eight if they did this to us)

5) They get married but divorce each other when either Jun-Pyo or Jae-Kyung can’t stand it any longer (which I personally would hate too cause I rather not have things complicated by marriage ESPECIALLY since the characters are twenty at the oldest)

6) It is a fake marriage that is void and only done to please the merger between JK Group and Shinhwa Corp.

The production team did say they were planning to make a different ending; but I am still skeptical they’d make such a huge twist from the original. If Jandi and Jun-Pyo don’t end up together, it sends a bad message (and contradicts the manga’s original plotline purpose!) that love does not conquer all adversity, and make a very unsatisfactory ending, as the two main leads will not be together.

I personally don’t believe this ending is true, for I remember before Jae-Kyung made her entrance in the drama, the actress, Lee Min Jung, had stated that she got a lot of messages from fans begging her not to interfere with Jandi and Jun-Pyo’s relationship (which I personally find hilarious that they asked that of the actress and not the production team), and she stated that, “Sometimes love becomes more beautiful when it is put through many trials and adversities.” Her words state that love will become stronger after she comes in and places trouble into their ‘perfect’ life; therefore she can’t possibly end up with Jun-Pyo. I refuse to believe it.

On the other hand, the SoEul couple (So Yi Jeong and Chu Ga-Eul), which I thought in the beginning was the only ‘modified ending’ that we would get in the Korean remake of Hana Yori Dango, seems to still has an ambiguous ending. There was false hope for SoEul lovers a few days ago when a fake leaked script showed Yi Jeong revealing his feelings to Ga-Eul; however, since the verification of the script is untrustworthy, this shouldn’t be taken seriously either.

I somehow feel this is kind of a scare to produce more hype (as if it needs any more) for the drama; I was beginning to lose interest in the main couple, and have watched the last few episodes solely for SoEul scenes, but this news makes me nervous about the fate of Jandi and Jun-Pyo. ‘Cause as nice as JiHoo is, I don’t believe he is a good match for Jandi in the end, as they seem more like siblings or close friends rather than lovers.

What bad news for White Day.

MBC’s ‘East Of Eden’ was left behind as KBS ‘Boys Over Flowers’ soared in ratings with just one episode broadcast this week.

According to viewer rating research company, TNS Media Korea the 17th episode of ‘Boys Over Flowers’ broadcast on the 3rd recorded a nationwide rating of 29.9%.

Due to Koo Hye Sun’s unavoidable circumstances the ‘F4 Special Talkshow’ which aired the day before recorded a rating of 21.8%. While on the other hand, ‘East Of Eden’ recorded a rating of 25.9% but had to give up the victory only a day after.

Viewers were captivated by the love rectangle between Goo Jun Pyo, Geum Jandi, Yoon Ji Hoo and Ha Jae Kyung in the 17th episode of ‘Boys Over Flowers.’ Goo Jun Pyo (Lee Min Ho) formally befriends his fiancee Ha Jae Kyung then progress onwards to their first date. Troubled by Jun Pyo’s blank expression, Jae Kyung demands a kiss from him, and with Jandi’s back turned from him he delivers a kiss without any emotion. However, by chance Jan Di and Ji Hoo witness the event and become entangled in a love rectangle.

The currently hit drama, Boys Over Flowers, will be delaying its airing of Episode 17, because, as most of you should know, main actress Gu Hye-Sun (who plays the feisty Geum Jandi) met with an accident on February 27, where her mouth required stitches. 

It was initially reported that she was okay, as her injuries were minor and would be able to return to set shortly after. However, that was followed by a report that the actress would have to take a day off and resume filming on March 1, for her lip showed visible swelling.

But the KBS drama department  in charge of Boys Over Flowers, held an emergency meeting and announced their decision to halt filming for one day and instead of airing the incomplete Ep.17 on Monday, there will be a special featuring F4 (Lee Minho, Kim Hyun Joong, Kim Bum, and Kim Joon) which will show behind the scenes of production as well as unaired clips.

It was also reported that Kim Hyun Joong visited Gu Hye-Sun in the hospital shortly after the conclusion of the Baeksang Awards (Hye-Sun had to skip the awards due to her accident) to cheer up his fellow colleague, whom he had been worried about since  he heard the news. Lee Minho did not visit her as he went straight back to filming for a scene with Lee Min Jung (who plays his fiancee, Ha Jae Kyung) after the awards show.

I don’t actually feel very disappointed that Ep.17 will not air tomorrow, but rather I am glad that Gu Hye-Sun has more time to rest (a representative visited her in the hospital and told her she didn’t need to worry about hurrying back to filming) and recover from their injuries, but I do wish something will be done about Boys Over Flowers. Every single one of the main actors have been in accidents since filming, and a few are still suffering from the outcome (Lee Minho has been in one, and has an injured leg which will require surgery to remove the iron rod from a pervious injury after the conclusion of Boys Over Flowers, Kim Hyun Joong in one, Kim Joon in one, and Kim Bum in two, and the second accident required stitches on his feet and him to wear a cast – note these have all been automobile accidents) and now Gu Hye-Sun, who has already suffered a minor concussion that has not been treated after she hit her head diving, is resting in the hospital on doctor’s orders.

As followers of KBS2TV Boys Before Flowers, you will have noticed that Ha Jae Kyung’s appearance as Goo Joon Pyo’s fiance has created tension between the already fragile relationship of Joon Pyo and Geum Jandi. Well, more is to come.

Photos of Joon Pyo kissing Jae Kyung was uploaded by netizens to various Korean portals this past Monday which got fans into a frenzy. Apparently it was from a scene that hasn’t seen daylight yet. The photos in sequence shows Joon Pyo (facing camera) coming face-to-face with Jae Kyung and then proceeds to kiss her in the last picture.
