With just a little more than 8,000 words to write to hit the 90K mark needed for a single-title contemporary, I’m finding words are just pouring out of my head an onto the page.

Where was all this enthusiasm last week, when I needed it to end the NaNo with a less-pathetic word count?

Oh well. If  I can keep this momentum going, I’ll soon be typing the momentous words: “First draft complete!”

How exciting that will be! I’ve never finished a full-length MS before. All my others are category length. I can’t wait.

First up? Setting it aside for a few weeks, at least, before a read-through. In those weeks, I’ll be starting to shop for an agent for “Operation Snag Mike/Brad,” the GH entry.

Now that I’ve decided to get my rear in gear, things are starting to happen for me. How thrilling!

the cheesiness of this pic aside, maxie & franco’s scenes were on FIYA!  i ffwd everything else in the show to get back to maxie and franco (although i lingered over jj’s lucky scenes because detective spencer is quickly morphing into the smartest cop on daytime).

my only gripe is that maxie gave in to franco rather suddenly and petulantly;  the writers had a good, scratch that, GREAT thing going, they should have ratcheted up the sexual tension some more by continuing maxie and franco’s very sexy banter and had maxie walk away with the upper-hand leaving franco all crazy hot and bothered, instead of succumbing.  i can’t really blame the girl, franco is, afterall, crazy hot!

so what does this show us…it shows us that all bloviating aside, maxie really hasn’t learned anything from her “relationship” with spinelli.  the girl is still using sex to get what she wants consequences be damned!  i have a bad feeling about the future of spixie, folks, a real bad feeling!

it’s that time of year…time to look at the line up on the dvr and give a little prayer of thanksgiving for the blessing and the curses that have rained down on daytime this year…

#4 louise sorel’s return to daytime.  i don’t think i really need to say anything else.

#3 sarah joy brown’s move from GH to B&B…after a lack-luster storyline, sjb went out with a bang (or thud) and turned up as the mysterious sandy on B&B (with slightly lighter locks).  while i’m new to B&B, i’m thrilled that sjb’s amazing acting talents are not going to waste.

#2 elizabeth hendrickson.  chloe is the grown up version of kirsten storm’s maxie on GH.  i love love love her – especially since her arch nemesis is the wretched mackenzie browning – the enemy of my enemy…yada, yada, yada.  bonus, the girl knows how to dress and can rock a short do w/o hair extensions…take that clementine!

#1 doug davidson: the future emmy winner continues to give nuanced performances as the detective with a heart of gold.  for a show where most of the male characters have no (or extremely broken) moral compasses, paul williams is the atticus finch of geneoa city!  witnessing his agony over the increasing madness of his sister patty is a thing of beauty!  here’s hoping the good detective can get a little lovin’ in the new year!

I just checked my delivery confirmation via the U.S. Postal Service and nearly had a heart attack: No record of that number on file.

It turned out, I incorrectly entered the tracking number from my receipt. When I typed in the correct number, the computer told me my GH entry was received. Woo-hoo! That’s a load off my mind.

We had a great, inspirational NARWA meeting Saturday — and for once I didn’t have to come home and go to work. I was off all weekend, so I got to come home from the meeting all inspired to write … and actually do it! I wish that’d happen more often.

With the GH entry off my plate, I devoted the weekend to catching up on the NaNo. I didn’t succeed, but I did write about 6,000 words on Saturday and Sunday, bringing my NaNo count up to 20,000+.

Pathetic compared to most people’s, I’m sure … but it’s still 20,000 more words than I had at the end of October. And I realized I don’t have quite as far to go to finish as I thought … Only about 16,500 to get my MS to 90,000 words.

So … I finally let Kari and Damien get busy. Figured they needed a couple of happy sex scenes before I break them apart and get them back together.

I was sick last night, so the word count didn’t grow much Monday. And today it was back to work. I’m going to try to do a little writing when I get home from work, but I’m still pretty wiped out from my bout with the 36-hour bug. About the time I finish this blog and my other one, I’ll probably be ready for bed.

With the Guitar Hero franchise going strong, not everyone wanted to keep hold of every copy of GH they own, so what better way to relive those classics than with a Greatest Hits featuring the best tracks from the previous Guitar Hero’s?

The game features songs from 1, 2 and 3 predominantly and has some from 80’s and one from Aerosmith, the majority of the best ones were picked by the public through polls on Activision’s websites, so lets hope you all picked wisely!

In this day and age, everyone has a copy or has tried in some way or form a Guitar Hero now. With the franchises expanding to new horizons with Band and DJ Hero, some people, including myself may have taken the previous beginning titles back to a store for some quick cash. Greatest Hits is a great way to keep the best bits from those iconic first titles which skyrocketed the platform to the juggernaut game it now is.

The game play is up to date to the latest of GH’s including GHtunes, and its more in depth character creation mode, whilst the creation mode is still a little shy from Rock Bands creativity, GHGH has the new instrument creation tools which allow you to colour and design your own guitars and kit, this is pretty cool to say the least, as it means the clever designers can make their sweet designs and the casual kind of players can just have a guitar and colour they choose, rather than a big oversized chainsaw guitar, as much as some people do love those, which I don’t blame them, but its always nice to have something a lil’ more…normal for a change.

Along with that, there are always the Guitar Hero favorites you can play as, or just make your own rockstar and design him however you’d like!

What’s best about the Greatest Hits is that some people, like me may have taken more of a liking to the drums/vocal side of things with the launch of GH4/Rock Band. What’s great about this is all the tracks in GHGH have been updated to include full band peripheral game play. Ever fancied playing the drums to your favorite GH3 track? Or wanted to wail out and be scored on your best track of GH2? Now we can!

These days, bands often use Greatest Hits albums as milestones in their career rather than a homage to their work before they part their own ways, with new games on the horizon and plenty more planned, Guitar Hero Greatest Hero is a milestone for the fans to collect, or even just for a rookie to catch up and get hooked.

Had a good day @ G&H. Pretty productive. Did my first close-out package to a lender in some time. We have so many files right now it is crazy. Wish that equated to a full time position for me. However, that’s not the case. Sigh.

Running a little late to Grottos, mostly because I was getting UPS stuff ready and ran late.

This time, I mean my Golden Heart entry — all 246 pages of it, plus the disk with  my full MS on it. I dropped it off at the post office sometime between 11 a.m. and noon.

It felt like such a momentous occasion. I was so darn proud of myself I had to call the Boyfriend right away and tell him it was done.

It wasn’t until I drove back across town that I had a moment of panic. Did I really put the disk with my full MS on it in the box? I know I did … because if I didn’t, where is it? Not in the car … So I’m sure it’s right where it’s supposed to be — on its merry way to RWA HQ.

I had some credit on my Picazzo’s loyalty card, so I treated myself to one of my favorite lunches — a slice of pizza and caesar side salad. Delicious! And the momentous occasion of entering my first Golden Heart competition deserved to be celebrated.

So celebrate I did. Now, on to the next project: Trying to catch up on my NaNo word count. I should be able to make good headway this weekend, because I’m not working. Not only am I not working, but I also have a NARWA meeting — and I always get fired up to write when I go to those.

My problem is that I usually have to head back home and go to work … and by the time I get home after a long day/night at work, I’m too tired and/or have lost that motivation. Not this time. A weekend stretches before me with just two commitments: the meeting Saturday morning and Boyfriend time Sunday evening.

20,000 words, here I come!

That’s how much my Golden Heart entry weighs. It’s 36 pages of 6-page synopsis and 210 pages of the first 42 pages of my MS.

How do I know how much it weighs? Easy — I put it on my trusty kitchen scale. (I knew there had to be a use for it besides weighing food!)

I have decided it’s time to let my entry go. I can’t read through it one more time without going absolutely bonkers. Besides, If I hang onto it much longer, I’ll be paying extra for express shipping — and since the Boyfriend is fronting me the money to pay for the mailing, he’d appreciate it if I didn’t have to do that.

I felt an enormous sense of accomplishment after printing out those six copies. I called one of my NARWA friends and told her that it was done. She’s still working on her entry (in a different category).

As an aside, my Brother laser printer works great. I bought it a couple of years ago, fairly cheap. At the time, I had an iMac still running on OS9, and it was one of the few printers that was OS9 compatible. I’m glad, because my pages look beautiful — much better than they would on an inkjet printer.

I plan to head to the Post Office either Thursday or Friday, depending on when the Boyfriend gets me that money. My next NARWA meeting is Saturday, and I have the weekend off.

Now, instead of devoting it to finishing the GH entry, I can concentrate on upping my NaNo word count. I managed to break 14.5K today, but that’s still low compared to everyone else.

I think we have seen some of the best acting/writing…well more writing and presentation (because the acting is always superb) from GH in the past couple of weeks than we’ve seen in a long time. It was unfortunate that Sarah Brown had to leave but her character was made unredeemable from the bad writing and storyline they went through during the writer’s strike.

As far as Michael going to jail, that will not happen. They didn’t let Kristina get in trouble…won’t happen for Michael. Michael has killed someone, so now it looks like he will be a part of the mob…or better yet, the new Jason.

I’m just glad this storyline has come to a resoltuion; albeit a violent one. I did not mind the “Michael getting shot” storyline, but there are so many mom’s losing their kids to gun violence these days, I’m glad GH was able to redeem itself by bringing Michael back and out of the coma and eventually the person who started this whole downward spiral reaped what she sowed.

Well, that’s unless Claudia comes back as her evil (well how could you get anymore evil) twin sister…or better yet, is she really dead??? LOL

Today I thought I was ready to print my full MS for the GH entry.  Unfortunately, it was the first time I’d noticed that all my pages were 1.5-spaced instead of double-spaced.

That’s ALL the pages — in the full MS and what I thought was getting close to a perfect GH entry.

When I put my 45 pages into double-spaced format, they suddenly grew to 57 pages — and that’s much too long. (With a six-page synopsis, I can only have 49 pages in my entry — and I can’t cut down the synopsis any more.)

Of course, I now have to find a new hook to end my entry on. I think it’s on the new Page 47, but I’m not sure. I don’t like it nearly as much as the old hook, but I don’t want to end on Page 49, because that’s even less of a hook … and I can’t end it much before Page 47 without cutting out a crucial scene.

This is a problem I can overcome. And I’m glad I noticed now instead of AFTER I sent it off. That would be a crappy way to get disqualified!

On the NaNo front, I wrote about a thousand more words today. That gives me 64 more pages than I had last month. Not too shabby!

okay, now this looks good…

That’s what my blog is doing … I haven’t been giving it as much attention as I should, I guess.

Unfortunately, I haven’t been giving the NaNo the attention it needs, either. After a great write-in with friends Wednesday morning (at which the MS topped 10,400 words), I was woefully lazy on Thursday and Friday. This morning, I managed to write another couple hundred words …

The good news is I realized this morning (as I lamented my lack of progress over the last few days) that I have 55 more pages of Blind Date Bride than I did before I started the NaNo on Nov. 1.

So I might not be where I should be word-count wise, but I’m much better off than I’d be had I not signed up for NaNo.

As for the GH entry, I spent some time last night making the edits from my last read-through. It looks like I’m going to be shipping off 500+ pages, though (6 copies of the 45-page entry, 6 copies of a 6-page synopsis and a 216-page full MS).

Wow! That’s a lot of pages. Wonder how much that’ll cost me?

No, I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth … even if it might seem like I did. I’ve been busy, busy, busy trying to balance my writing life with the day job and my attempt to hit my goal weight (which I’m still 15 pounds away from, darn it).

I still wonder if I might have bitten off more than I can chew this month, but I’m trying my darnedest.

A quick update:

• The NaNo MS is up to nearly 10,500 words (and that’s 10,500 more words than I had at the beginning of November!).

• I’ve printed out another paper copy of the GH entry (pages and synopsis) to read through tonight. I plan to make any final changes and hit the post office tomorrow. It’s payday, and I need to pay for the mailing while I have the money to do it!

That’s what I’ve been up to. How about you?

this is some of the darkest writing i’ve seen on GH in years…sonny, jason, and now michael have turned the corner…they’re all full blown murderers now.

as much as i like the mob on GH, i’m hoping that sonny, jason, and michael all pay for this.  lucky is right…covering up the crime makes it look like murder.  since i’m talking about lucky, can i just say how awesome it is to see a cop with brains on soaps.

right now, i’m rooting for michael, jason, and sonny to all go down!

Elvileg úgy tervezte, hogy egy sátorban alszanak így egy négyszemélyeset hozott, hisz ki tudja mekkora tér, kell az éjszakai tevékenységhez az arrancarnak.

Bár ha nem bír túlzottan magával, akkor kirakja a szűrét, de gyorsan, mint egy kiscicának. Gondolta mosolyogva magában.

Vagy inkább egy nagy cicának sápadt ellátva, hogy az említett mind a négy helyet elfoglalva terült el keresztben a sátorban.

- Na jó elég a heverészésből inkább gyere valami kaját szerezni – ráncigálta ki „kedvesét”.

En conclusion, pour optimiser l’élévation du taux de GH au cours de l’entraînement, ne dépasser pas 30 secondes de récupération.

I've signed up, for better or worse.

… But I did decide to go ahead and sign up for the NaNoWriMo. I figured that, if nothing else, it’d spur me to finish the last 40,000 words I need to write on “Blind Date Bride” so I can enter it in next year’s GH.

Now it’s Day 3, and I’ve still only written about 2,000 words. That already puts me hopelessly behind.

Even worse, now that I’ve let Kari and Damien out to play, I’m having trouble shutting them up long enough to go back and put the finishing touches on this year’s GH entry featuring Erin and the not-nearly-as-boring anymore Brad. (He’s come a long way in the last few months!)

I got some very good — and much appreciated — feedback on those pages from Anne Marie, one of the GH winners from 09. Needless to say, I’m taking her advice because she knows what she’s doing!

To finish 50,000 words in 30 days, I need to write 1,667 a day. Since I only need about 40,000 words, I don’t have to write quite that much … it works out to 1,333 a day.

At 1,994 after Day 2, I’m not as far behind as I could be. I may even catch up later, when I get off work.

DC is reporting that chad brannon (ex-zander, gh) is making a brief return to GH this winter!

i’ve hearted zander ever since he bought pixie sticks for emily – played by the one and only amber tamblyn.  he was a misunderstood loser with a heart of gold.  i was hoping they’d tie him to core families by making him carly’s brother, but when tamblyn left, the magic did too (i never bought natalia livingston’s goodie-goodie emily: BORING!).
