I haven’t gotten to play World Tour much, but I like what I see. My friend got GH:WT for Christmas, but only has the Guitar, so I stopped by his house to play it for about an hour. They’ve got a [i]big[/i] selection of songs to play and all of them are great. The slide bar is hard to master and I haven’t gotten the hang of it. I like the new feature where sometimes there is a sustained note with other notes you have to play while keeping the first sustained, as well as the fact that GH followed Rock Band with the ability to gain Star Power while you already have Star Power activated. Expert has moved up a notch on many songs, thanks to the addition of the slidebar, and I think it will be quite a while before a large majority of players have very many 5 star performances on the harder songs! I can’t wait to play it more and would love to try out the drum set.

I finally bit the bullet, drove out to JB Hifi and bought Guitar Hero World Tour.  $288 seems like a lot of money for one game.   It’s nearly the price of a Wii…  nearly…   but someone at work tipped the scales when she described ho

Anyways, brought it home, the kids were excited, wifey was excited, I was excited!

Our 7yo helped me unpack it and put it together.  One of the first bits of paper I saw inside the box was this:

I thought, “Hah!  They must be experiencing lots of problems with peripherals!”

We were all ready to play!  But the first thing the kids wanted to do was plaster the supplied stickers all over the gear.   Then we all took rounds of playing the drums, guitar and singing – it felt like quite an achievement when we did get through a whole song!  It does require some persistence from the kids to try hard to get us all through a song.  Luckily my old GH3 Les Paul guitar works with the game too so we had a complete 4 player band.

When it came around for me to try the new GH WT guitar – uh oh..   the strumming action only worked going down and not up!  The kids hadn’t noticed this before me because they always strum down whereas I strum alternately.  And then it started doing another weird thing – if I strummed up, then it would continually go up.  This was only noticed in the menu screens.

A few googles later, it seems many other people have similar problems with the strum switch.  I’ll first try to call JB Hifi tomorrow, otherwise, it might be a couple of weeks before we can rock out all 4 people at once

Det tok ikke mer enn en halvsang før vi tapte, prøvde en gang til, og tapte. Så ville hun heller synge. Hun sang. Og hun skrudde volumet høyt opp, så jeg fikk vondt i ørene. Jeg avbrøt sangen, skrudde ned volumet 20 hakk. Men hun sang fortsatt forferdelig. Så begynte hun å mase. “Vi må finne ut hvordan vi kan lage en sang med synging.” Jeg sa at jeg ikke gadd, og hun ble skikkelig sur. Jeg sa at jeg gjør alt, og at hun ikke gjør en dritt, og hun sa at jeg kunne i hvertfall hjelpe til. Så ble det bare surmuling, og vi var på andre sang. Hun sang ikke seriøst, og sang forferdelig. Etter den sangen ville hun ikke mer. Og jeg måtte starte det marathonet igjen! Men det gadd jeg ikke, så jeg ba henne skru av, for en gangs skyld. Og hun var fortsatt sur, og bare: “Ja, ok”. Men før hun gjorde det, spurte jeg om vi kunne spille “Eye of the Tiger” en gang. Jeg fikk ikke noe svar, og hun skrudde av. Men hun brukte hundre år, siden hun er så dårlig til å skru av.
Jeg får veldig lyst til å si at hun ikke får bruke Wii’en min mer.

Jeg kommer etterhvert med flere argumenter.

Guitar Hero World Tour

Everyone knows that Horror and Heavy Metal are made for each other. It’s a fact! So being able to sit in your bedroom with a miniature plastic guitar and play along to songs from Metallica and Ozzy Osbourne – to name but two – is something of a wet dream cum true.

That’s my lame excuse to justify my review of Guitar Hero World Tour…

Guitar Hero World Tour is the fourth game in the Guitar Hero franchise. And certainly one of the most elaborate. I played a fair bit of Guitar Hero III which (I believe) was one of the first guitar games to use motion capture technology to capture the performances of Brett Michaels, Tom Morello and Slash (they were also the ‘bosses’ that you had to beat in a duel) but Guitar Hero World Tour (aka: GHWT because I’m too lazy to keep typing the full name for the entire review) has upped the ante with motion captured Ozzy, some drummer guy that I’ve never seen before, Sting (no, I’m not kidding, it has Sting in it. Maybe they were strapped for cash after getting Ozzy and went for some lower priced talent, I dunno, but he looks totally out of place) and Jimi Hendrix, I’d be interested to know how they got the motion capture for him (just kidding). GHWT is also the first game, in the series, to include Bass, Drum and Vocal tracks for players to use, hence the inclusion of motion captured drummer-guy and Sting. So, yeah, you can terrorize your neighbourhood with a plastic drum kit too! Yay!

Just a side note about the instruments: I played GHWT with no problems at all using my GHIII guitar.

Why would GUITAR Hero include other instruments? Because it has begotten a bastard son, named: Rock Band. It was the first game to use several instruments and a serious rival to GHIII, so GHWT really had to include other instruments to keep up with Rock Band 2. So there’s also Rock Band 2 to satisfy your finger twiddling delight, but for me the song list in GHWT is far superior.

Speaking of songs: this is also the first guitar game to use the original songs in the game, 86 songs to be exact. Guitar Hero III had some original tracks, but some were recreations of the original, but for the most part they sounded ok. Here it’s the real deal. It starts off nice and easy and increases in difficulty. Even when you’ve completed all 86 songs, there’s a ton of downloadable content including the entire Death Magnetic album from Metallica, oh how they’ve changed their tune since Napster. It also has a built in music editor for creating your own music! AAAAAND it can also use XboxLive to exchange songs and do musical battle with. If they could include an option for it to give out slippery hand-jobs, it’d be the greatest thing since the invention of the sex doll.

Anyway, I digress. You start the game by deciding which instrument you want to play, then create your guitar hero (or drum hero, whichever). Like GHIII, you start by playing dingey, smokey, clubs and work your way up. Along the way you must battle musical greats such as Zak Wylde, Jimi Hendrix, Sting, Ozzy Osbourne and drummer-guy. You can begin by playing on the Easy setting (using only three out of the five buttons) and unlocking songs along the way. When you’re ready, you can move up to the more advanced settings using four, and eventually all five, buttons. Don’t worry, you can also practice songs too (once they are unlocked) section by section to get it nailed. Scoring is done by not missing any notes and by using your ’star power’. Some notes will be star shaped, play the entire string of star notes and you get one star power. When you reach three, four, or five, stars you can unleash your star power which will increase your score for the length of the power, more stars means a longer star power.

Good as it is, GHWT does have a couple of little flaws:

• Tool. The band Tool, that is. There’s a section of four Tool songs that look totally out of place. Why not scatter the songs throughout the game? Why do I have to play four boring Tool songs in a row? And why does the background need to have a large eye with little floaty eye things? Every other section shows the stage with the musicians doing their thang, for the Tool section its some weird trippy looking background.
• Sting. What the hell is he doing in a rock/metal game? I hope he was cheap!
• The last section of the game. This is where the creators obviously wanted their monies worth from using Sting, Ozzy and drummer-guy. For the last section it wheels them out and, including yourself, is the ultimate band. Fair enough. Not so bad you think. Yeah, great until you see Ozzy dancing and singing La Bamba! Then have Sting headbang to Trapped Under Ice (Metallica)! Utter madness.
• The end. The game doesn’t have a story as such, but still, I won’t spoil what happens at the end but, suffice to say: it’s completely out of place, surreal, and could easily have had a Dio song in the background… odd, VERY odd…

But even with those flaws, GHWT is still an awesome game! I’m no guitar virtuoso by any means, but I’ll certainly be going back to it again and again to play the songs and up the skill level.

En Estados Unidos ya está a la venta, pero en principio aquí en Europa tendremos que esperar hasta el 21 de Noviembre para poderlo tener en nuestras manos…Una nueva versión con nuevo contenido y nuevos instrumentos, eso sí con un precio un tanto…200€ el pack completo, siempre puedes quedarte con el juego solo por 60€…

Sim, esse é o novo comercial para o Guitar Hero 4 – World Tour, com Michael Phelps (lembra dele?), Tony Hawk, Kobe Bryant e A-Rod encenando a clássica cena de Negócio Arriscado (Risky Business) eternizada por Tom Cruise.

Não tem nada demais, mas o inusitado fato da participação dos atletas é o destaca.

Ok I am quite excited, oddly I’v managed to play some sort of preview release of Little Big Planet!

here is the story… We were in Bournemouth shopping on a lazy Monday, when we get told by some one that there is a games event run by IP publishing down stairs. we head down stairs and they have 3 consoles set up with one of them playing Little Big Planet.

I instantly head towards the ps3 and get to play the tutorial and a level with what look like “toast gosts” in it. The level looked great there were 3 of us playing and even more just happy to watch, it really feels like the most purely fun game I have played since mario kart 64.
As we were playing in a group of 3 we all got a feel of what they were trying to portray in their many promo videos, we were pushing each other off ledges and along with helping each other out with completing the amazing puzzles.

It was a shame that we couldn’t hear the sound as borders, not realising they had a mini E3 in their basement, had decided to have the Kooks playing over the pa so we couldn’t hear Stephen Fry lending his vocal chords for the narration, or any of the sfx or music. Its a real shame because it would have added so much depth and warmth to the game.

I think we all know LBP is going to be huge, and its a breath of fresh air to have a game that is so highly anticipated by adults that doesn’t rely on guns, killing or plastic instruments. All though I think I may get withdrawal symptoms from not picking up hookers etc. but it will be worth it when we are all huddled round LBP playing and laughing together.

Ps. Is asked one of the guys from IP who seemed to be running the event if he was really allowed to be letting us play LBP, he said
“just don’t tell Sony”

Como cada año tenemos ante nosotros un nuevo reto televisivo, una nueva edición de Gran Hermano, la 10, como las matriculas de honor, o es de horror? Sea cual fuera, ha llegado a su 10 Aniversario, Felicidades? seguro que son 10, pues si, pese a que suene raro, son 10, pero en realidad son 8, mira, secretos de la numerologia A pesar de ello son muchos años, demasiados, todos envejecemos!


No entiendo como la gente no se cansa siempre de lo mismo, es que es igual que todos los años…entrar un par de tios y tias frikis que no tienen vida social y se meten ahí para convivir juntos. Pese a todo esto, siempre empiezan bien, pero como tambioen digo, siempre se acaba mal en Gran hermano, y por ser el 10 ( 8 ), seguro que pasara algo..
Mercedes Mila sigue en su lucha de epocas, pelea con su ingenio para rejuvenecer algo que no necesita, siempre lo protagoniza ella y siempre acaba ganando audiencia.. Deberia desviar su dureza profesional hacia su equipo, lo merece mucho mas que los concursantes.
Sinceramente, no le veo mucha logica a esto, pero bueno, y ya sabemos que como no hagamos algo, seguiran haciendo Gran hermano hasta que nos muramos…


Que opinais vosotros? Creeis que habran mas ediciones, seguira la Milá al cargo de presentar Gran hermano?

Lamento informarles que la lista publicada el día de ayer de canciones es, mayoritariamente, falsa. Activision y Red Octane han hablado con Game Informer, comentandoles sobre la lista y diciendo que algunas de esas canciones se encontraran en el juego, sin embargo, la mayoría son pura especulación.

De la lista solo quisieron confirmar Hot For Teacher de Van Halen. Bueno, algo es algo…
