Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Day 2009. I wanted to post these pics right after parade but you know… family obligations can keep you from doing personal stuff on the computer. I know not everyone can make it into the city to experience The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade so I’m hoping that my photos can give those of you who have never been to the parade an idea of what it’s like to be there. Obviously crowds of people, blocked off streets, and policemen are all staples during the parade. My personal favorite balloon is “Hello Kitty”. Some new ballons this year-The “Pillsbury Doughboy” an “Sailor Mickey Mouse”. The photo of The Pillsbury Doughboy reminds me of a scene in “Ghostbusters” for some reason.

TEST POST – PLEASE IGNORE

Dear AMC Entertainment:

I am very disappointed to be writing you about this issue for a second time. Clearly you did not take any sort of real action about my experience at your theatre. I highly recommend that you carefully read about what I have to say and deal with this issue at a higher level of management, and not just pass this off to the local theater manager. Simply compensating me with a re-admit pass is not the solution to this problem. As I stated in my last letter, I live near Orlando, Florida and all of the theatres that are closest and most convenient for me are AMC theatres. I’d rather not pay your premium prices to see new movies in public, but I am usually satisfied with the quality of the experience that I have (until recently). There have been times where I was dissatisfied with my experience. In those instances, I spoke to a theatre manager and either received a refund or a voucher to see another movie. Although the manager did give me a re-admit pass for this recent incident, the fact that it occurred shows me that you have not taken action to remedy this problem.

I get to the movies before they start and I don’t leave until the end of the movie (irregardless of content). I’m not waiting around at the end of a movie, hoping to see a “bonus scene”. I have always chosen to watch the movie through the end credits because I felt that it was integral to the entire experience. This has often been an annoyance to my friends, family and coworkers, but never to anybody else until this last month.

I went to the 9:15 showing of “The Dark Knight” at the AMC 24 theatre at Downtown Disney. What happened was almost exactly what happened last month when I went to see “The Incredible Hulk” at the AMC theater at Universal Citywalk. During the end credits, the theater cleaning crew came in. The employee started yelling to the audience, “THERE’S NOTHING AT THE END GUYS!” This action was completely unprofessional and unprovoked by anybody remaining in the theatre (there were about 50 people still sitting). The employee then began flicking the theatre lights on and off and continued shouting (I’ve attached my previous letter. As you will see, this situation repeated itself almost exactly).

As with my earlier experience I confronted the employee about his unprofessional behavior. Surprisingly, he started to argue with me. I, having previously managed in the service industry for years, having a sense of theater etiquette, professionalism, having respect for a good film, respect for the audience, the acknowledgment of good filmmakers, and the intent to enjoy a movie from beginning to end, felt that his behavior was extremely inappropriate. Your employees should function to preserve and protect the institution of seeing a movie in public to its conclusion.

Also, how disrespectful is it for your employees to argue with me? For remaining seated through the credits of all things! What kind of training procedures do you use that lets these employees feel that this behavior is acceptable? You may think that I am silly for writing you about this incident, as if it this is not relevant to your business. You may think that this reoccurring incident is insignificant, not worthy of addressing. Are your ticket sales declining? Are you receiving more complaints these days? I don’t know your business, but I would suspect that the answer to both of these questions is yes. You may think that I somehow provoked these actions by your staff. As if I was somehow being unruly or disruptive. I am simply your typical theatergoer. I sit quietly in the theater from beginning to end, respecting those around me; your staff at AMC Pleasure Island or AMC Universal Citywalk has not reciprocated that respect.

From now on, AMC theaters will not be default theater of choice. You will have to take serious action to win back my loyalty. Once again, I advise you to consider your profession equivalent to that of Broadway theatre, or a symphony and train your employees accordingly. The general public may not feel like dignified theatre etiquette is necessary anymore; but I do, and you should too.

Sincerely,

Mark Lynn Smith

When three parapsychology professors find themselves unemployed, they decide to start a new business

When three parapsychology professors find themselves unemployed, they decide to start a new business together capturing ghosts.

Directed by – Ivan Reitman

Written by – Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Rick Moranis

Starring – Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Harold Ramis, Rick Moranis, Annie Potts, William Atherton, Ernie Hudson, David Magulies, Slavitza Jovan

The change of seasons is taking its toll on everyone in my neck of the woods. The kids are off and on sick, that obnoxious MEH feeling that comes with the total lack of sunshine is kicking in for me and my battle to quit smoking is troublesome. I haven’t found much time, or energy for that matter, to sit down and watch movies. Once my son got sick this week though, he demanded that we watch Ghostbusters and I’m glad he did. He was a good time to sit back and watch a hilarious movie that I haven’t seen in so long.

Seeing this one again reminded me of how much I like Bill Murray with his sarcastic, smart-ass yet lovable all at the same time personality. The movie flows well, the performances are well done, the soundtrack is amazing and the only thing that doesn’t really stand the test of time is some of the special effects. But they can upgrade that for Ghostbusters 3 right? C’mon, we all know you wanna make it anyway!

The Ghostbusters ready for action.

What can you say about the Ghostbusters that everybody doesn’t already know. If you haven’t seen this movie then I’m calling you out on it and questioning your love of movies! Peter, Ray and Egon start up the Ghostbusters. Their jobs, to catch ghosts. Of course it wouldn’t be a movie without a large problem to overcome and that’s where Gozer comes in. Insert scientificy jibble jabble about how Gozer is an ancient demon thing or something and then have Bill Murray scream something about going and kicking its butt and you’re off. Eventually the workload becomes too much and Winston is hired on and that’s just about the time that the EPA gets involved. They wind up shutting down the power to the Ghostbusters containment system which releases all the ghosts back into New York and sets it all up for the final showdown with Gozer, and of course the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man!

So destructive and yet so tasty!

Seriously, a classic comedy that everyone should have already seen. I think it works so well because of the trio of Akyroyd, Murray and Ramis. Those three together play off each other so well and with perfect comedy timing. Take any one of them out and you’d lose the whole movie. Annie Potts as the annoyingly voiced secretary has her moments but poor Ernie Hudson just doesn’t seem to get enough time to have fun. Sigourney Weaver is looking good in the movie and I always love her back and forth with Murray in the film, plus she has such a rocking apartment! And of course there’s Rick Moranis. Such a dork but you just wanna hug and squeeze him.

I’m glad the kids liked it so much even if the librarian at the beginning scared them a little bit. Although it does make me feel old to think that movies I watched as a young kid are now some of the same films my kids watch. In the same respect, it’s good to know that they appreciate the classics so I don’t have to watch Hannah Montana.

Under the mistletoe – Will

I feel rather guilty that I’m writing a blog instead of reading something intellectual … but I am dedicating this time to the watching of Ghostbusters, and all the memorable quotes thereof.
In any case, I got my honors essay back today, so I will consider its contemplation as fair contribution to my smartness fund.
I really want to read the new Anne Rice book “Angel Time” over winter break – I’ll need a new book soon anyways, after stealing the lovely poetry anthology I’ve been posting from, from Oonagh.
I’m extremely excited about going to San Francisco! Especially Alcatraz and SFMoMA and Ashbury and well… everything, really. I’m hoping for hotel wi-fi so I can keep so kind of reasonable journal from my trip, unlike the journal from Europe that I am never going to have the time, energy or dedication to transcribe.
Alas, alack, the film is over. To reading!

Galet men sant!

Scrooged is a 1988 comedy film, a modernization of Charles Dickens’ novella, A Christmas Carol. The film was produced and directed by Richard Donner, and the cinematography was by Michael Chapman. The screenplay was written by Mitch Glazer and Michael O’Donoghue. The original music score was composed by Danny Elfman.

The cast includes: Bill Murray, Karen Allen, Bob “Bobcat” Goldthwait, John Forsythe, Carol Kane, David Johansen, John Houseman, John Glover, and Robert Mitchum. It also features cameo appearances by Olympic gymnast Mary Lou Retton, musicians Larry Carlton, Miles Davis, David Sanborn, and Paul Shaffer, actor/singer Robert Goulet, and actors Jamie Farr, Buddy Hackett, Lee Majors, and Pat McCormick as well as the Solid Gold Dancers. Bill Murray’s real-life brothers, Brian, John, and Joel also appear in the film.

The film was marketed with references to the film Ghostbusters which had been a great success four years earlier in 1984. In the USA, the tagline for Scrooged was, “Bill Murray is back among the ghosts, only this time, it’s three against one.” In Brazil, it’s named “Os Fantasmas Contra-Atacam” (The Ghosts Strike Back). In Spain, the film was titled “Los fantasmas atacan al jefe” (The Ghosts Attack the Boss). In Italy, the movie was released as “S.O.S. fantasmi” (“S.O.S. ghosts”).

Every day I find that my dreams of yesterday have changed. When I was a kid I was going to be a Gho

Every day I find that my dreams of yesterday have changed. When I was a kid I was going to be a Ghostbuster. Then when my parents told me there were no such things as ghosts (big lie) I decided to become a scientist. Because the Ghostsbusters were all scientists, of course.

Soon that dream dwindled with failing marks in science and a weak stomach for biology. My dream changed again. I was going to grow up to be like my all-time hero, Steven Spielberg. I was going to make all the things my imagination offered up a reality on the silver screen! But somewhere along the line girls took over my life and, well, my grades dipped again.

When I finally decided to become a comedian (to the more than apparent grunts and groans of my parents) I was really just picking a career that sounded like a blast. Of course, most careers that sound amazing are usually low paying and a ton of work. Hence, after 2 years down the funny man road, I opted out, welcoming the world of part-time positions and little responsibility.

After 2 years of that, my father had had enough and threw the book at me. Actually quite literally. He had a Seneca College program guide and he whipped it at my face in the middle of a heated argument. After that the argument was mute. I had to pick a trade or get out of his house. Seeing as I had little money and even less skill, I took the former. I chose radio as my fallback because the girl I was dating loved music and thought I would sound great on the air. Of course, I was back on track and wanted to go into film and television. Following Spielberg’s footsteps once again. I was rejected. 4 times. But radio wanted me and I moved forward in that direction.

Quickly radio became a hub of fun learning surrounded by people who genuinely were exciting to be around. There were the next Howard Stern’s and the by the book jocks. There were sound engineers and musicians. There was even sports buffs who wanted to be commentators. It was a brand new world and it came easy to me. I graduated with honours and have worked in the industry for six years now. I’m told that’s longer than most careers last these days.

So after all of that prologue, we’ve hit our climax. And that is this. Now my big dreams seem to be getting smaller. A twinkie after work. A nap in the afternoon. Some free time to finish a book. The things that I look forward to now are minuscule in comparison to the grand dreams I once had. Which leads me to my latest dream. Something so simple it makes my friends shudder. A modest, and small life. I can only hope that the future is littered with days of strolling through the park, reading under a shady tree, chicken wings and a dvd rental, the PVR not failing, and some day a little more culinary talent.

It’s funny how our dreams are shaped and how they change. When I was younger I shot for the stars, but now I shoot for another year filled with laughter and friends. And really, to me, you can’t dream much bigger than that.

So this is the final Groundhog Day Ghostbustin’ Ass caricature.

It’s 10″ by 10″ which is a lot more effort than it sounds.
So thats what I spent the whole day doing.
I mean, I’m happy with it; happier than the other projects for this class, and after this is over I won’t have to worry about that any more.

So I’m committed. That’s what I decided a week ago. Except I forgot all week. I didn’t fail, I wavered. But I’m committed.

Just like I’m committed to flossing, reading for 30 minutes before bed and joining the gym (again).

I’m starting this week with a quote, product and movie debated, dissected and discussed at Scrabble Night. And this week, I’m committed.

Technically this is a phrase from The L Word, but we use it so much, it feels like ours. All you have to do to beat the boys at Scrabble is have a little “Nipple Confidence” (especially when you’re the only female team). Works every time.

The Snuggie Some of the crew loves it and some hate it. I’m a lover. I own one. But I do see the hate team’s side. I mean, can’t we just wear our robe’s backwards?

Until a few weeks ago, I hadn’t seen Ghostbusters. I grew up with the cartoon, but never saw the movie. In my defense, it did come out the year after I was born…

After I mentioned this fact (which I didn’t think was that big of a deal), all activity was halted and Scrabble Night turned into movie night (apparently it was a big deal).

And now, I have a new favorite in my top 5.

Henry gains control due to a test of strength. Henry with chops to Lambert, he grabs a headlock takedown which quickly becomes a headscissors. Lambert escapes with some well-placed elbows and both are up. Lambert runs off the ropes and tries a shoulder block. Nothing. She tries again. Same result. Lambert tries kicking him first but this time Henry takes her down. Lambert runs off the ropes, Henry catches the leapfrog attempt and turns it into a fireman’s carry cutter. Fist drop by Henry, a scoop slam and a second rope knee drop which misses. Lambert wraps Henry’s leg in the ropes then dropkicks it. Shinbreaker by Lambert! Lambert out to grab a chair and back in. Henry manages gets loose. Lambert clobbers him with the chair. Henry staggers back to his corner. What? He’s raising the white flag? Johnny Suave utters his first ‘HOLY CRAP’ of the night. Lambert yanks Henry by what hair he has and throws him face first to the mat. The referee calls for the bell. Kicks by Lambert now and she doesn’t let up. The ref tries to pull Lambert off Henry. Lambert elbows him in the stomach. Lambert bends down and starts bouncing Henry’s head off the canvas. The bell rings a second time. Lambert continues to assault Henry.

The announcement is made that Lambert won the match due to Henry submitting. Suddenly, an enraged Zinedine Zidane runs into the ring and verbally abuses the referee. HEAD BUTT to the referee! Zidane grabs Lambert and pulls her off Henry. Zidane goes for a head butt. Lambert eludes and takes a free kick right to Zidane’s balls. Mercifully, security finally intervenes before more bloodshed and a possible international incident results.

WINNER: Elizabeth Lambert in 2:35

Suave then reviews the recent release of The Alaskan Pitbull’s new book, Going Rogue, and then replays Bill Clinton’s Hot Tub from a few weeks back.

(Replay from 10/7-PCW EXTREME POLITICAL TV- PART 2)
BILL CLINTON’S HOT TUB
Slick Announcer Guy: “And now, it’s time for our new feature on PCW Extreme Political TV, Bill Clinton’s Hot Tub. And here’s your host, Bill Clinton.” Clinton, inside a steaming hot tub, waves to the audience. Clinton: “Good evening. Tonight on our new show, Bill Clinton’s Hot Tub, we are damn lucky to have one of the most polarizing figures in American politics today. And even better, she’s hot looking! Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin!” The camera pans over to Palin who seems a little uncomfortable with the whole arrangement. Her clothes are stacked up by the side of the hot tub and she tries to keep as low as possible inside the hot tub. Clinton: “Governor Palin, I am profoundly appreciative that you came on my show tonight.” Palin: “Um…thank you, President Clinton. But, was it really necessary for both of us to take all of our clothes off?” Clinton: “Well, it all depends on what your definition of ‘clothes’ is. Is it a metaphoric reference to cover up what we really feel inside or is it more of an issue of not wanting to totally put yourself out there?” Palin: “Riiiight. You betcha. Can we get to my book?” Clinton reaches over and grabs a copy of Palin’s new book, Going Rogue. Clinton: “From her humble beginnings to her time in the spotlight as the first female Republican Vice Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin has led an extraordinary life. Going Rogue will recount her political experiences, her time as Mayor of Wasilla and as the first female governor of Alaska, as well as her rapid rise on the national stage during the 2008 campaign. Additionally, she’ll share insights into the personal challenges she’s faced including balancing her time as a working mother, recognizing the war’s impact with her son serving combat in Iraq, having a child with a disability and supporting her teenage daughter through an unplanned pregnancy.” Palin: “I just wanted to tell my side of the story and share the experiences that I’ve gone through over the past year of so.” Clinton: “Very intriguing. Going Rogue. I think I’d like your book better if you called it Going Commando. BWHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHHAHAHA” Palin: “Mr. President, that’s not the least bit funny.” Clinton: “BWHAHAHAHAHAHA…haha… hahaha….ha ha……ha…………..ha…oh, all right. You-a…you became a lightning rod for any number of groups. Some thought you were refreshing. Others didn’t think you were ready for prime time. You believe this book tells us all about the real Sarah Palin? Palin: “Yes I do. It’s about growing up in Alaska, meeting Todd, running for office, addresses my beliefs in faith and family, um, the book is about who I am.” Clinton: “All right, before we go, I have to ask you a favor.” Palin: “Um…what?” Clinton: “Can you do that whole put your hands in the air thing you did on Saturday Night Live?” Palin: “Not right at this moment.” Clinton: “Shucks. Okay, that’s it for Bill Clinton’s Hot Tub. Tune in next week when-” Hillary’s Voice: “WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON!” Clinton: “Oh ****. Hillary doesn’t know I have company. Can you kind of go under the water for a few seconds and…” Palin: “I don’t think so.” Hillary enters, none too happy. Clinton: “Hi honey, how you do-” *CLANG* Hillary connects with a frying pan to the mush.

Suave: “And we’re back. That was intellectually stimulating…okay…it was stimulating, but we won’t get into details…

—————————————–

And while you’re there (cheap plug…cheap plug…) check out this book as well. Loose Cannons

There are some books you curl up with on a warm couch to read.

This isn’t one of them.

Released just in time for the presidential election but stil relevant in today’s dysfunctional political atmosphere, Loose Cannons and Other Weapons of Mass Political Destruction is an independent call to arms, a rowdy, hard-hitting, no holds barred satire that finally puts politics in proper perspective- by equating it to professional wrestling. Or in other terms, it’s a book you can crack open a six of beer and crank up the music to enjoy a humorous and occasionally biting political satire.

A dark cloud has covered the American political landscape. The powerful forces of professional partisans, political operatives, and special interest groups have combined to polarize the electorate into two bitterly divided extreme camps while many people tune out of the political process altogether.

However, DeWayne Cantrell isn’t like most people.

Co-owner with Bubba Jackson of the world’s only political pro wrestling federation, Buckland County Extreme Wrestling, DeWayne, a reformed politician himself, skewers the political world on a weekly basis on the BCEW wrestling show. But when powerful United States Senator David Hutchinson gets wind of what Cantrell is doing, DeWayne finds himself being subpoenaed to appear before a Senate sub-committee on the ‘Media and Their Contribution to the Coarseness of the American Culture.’ It is only after a heated exchange with Senator Hutchinson at the contentious hearing that DeWayne realizes that it’s no joke anymore.

Cantrell then throws his hat into the political ring and challenges Hutchinson for his Senate seat. Can DeWayne stand up for the little guy against the establishment of both political parties and stick it to the Washington D.C. elites? To what lengths will the professional politicians and their special interest groups go to stop him?

And will American politics ever be the same?

NOTE: We’d like to reassure everyone that no actual American Congressman, Senator, President, aides, political pundits, know-it-all celebrity political pundits, pompous cable TV personalities, right wing or left wing talk show hosts, reality show contestants, Weather Channel personalities, or skanky rich bimbos were injured in the making of this book.

———–

Suave notes as an FYI, several current PCW characters are in Loose Cannons including him, Dawn McGill, Justin Sufferable, Chris Escondido, Starz N. Stripes aka Kevin Scott and many more.

American Patriots Leader Eric Cantor implores the Raving Rednecks Locke and Loade to defeat the BiPartisan Dream Team. Cantor, Chief Deputy Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), Rep. Mary Bono Mack (R-Calif.) and Rep. Paul Broun (R-Ga.) oppose the Progressive Alliance’s plan to provide universal health insurance to PCW roster members. RINO and Blue Dog D favor compromise on a health insurance plan as long as its fiscally responsible.

MATCH #2
Blue Dog D (Progressive Alliance) and RINO (American Patriots)
vs.
‘Raving Rednecks’ Locke and Loade (American Patriots)
Locke gets control very early with a knee to the face and a running neckbreaker. A pair of clotheslines by Locke, RINO tries to toss him over the top but he skins the cat and comes back in with a flying forearm. ARRIBA! Locke tosses RINO out but HE skins the cat…and gets kicked in the face. Locke low-bridges Blue Dog D and Locke gets an assisted crossbody to the floor on both men. Back inside, Loade gets some chops to RINO and then an inverted atomic. Loade drops his head too early and gets kicked in the face, the tag is made to Blue Dog D who hits a SILKY flying European. Loade comes back with a back elbow and a pair of clotheslines, tag is made to Locke and they hit a series of double teams culminating in a knee drop for 2 by Locke. Blue Dog D gets some forearms to regain control, he calls for RINO but Locke runs through the double team and clotheslines both men. All 4 men in the ring, they hang Blue Dog D in the tree of woe and whip RINO into him! EWWWW they crotche RINO on the face of Blue Dog D, then RINO falls on top of him in a…shall we say compromising position? I think we shall. Locke gets a boot up to a charging Blue Dog D, but Blue Dog D comes back with some forearms and whips Locke into RINO’ knee. RINO is in now, back elbow by RINO. Tag back to Blue Dog D, what the hell are they doing? They just did a tour of Locke’s hands and feet…never mind it was dumb. Whip to Locke, Blue Dog D hits a knee in the corner followed by a big boot by RINO and a knee drop by Blue Dog D. RINO is the legal man and gets a 2 count. RINO slaps around Locke and gets his teeth rearranged with a superkick. Tag to Loade, clothesline! A pair! A trio! Baaaaaack body drop. Inverted atomic for RINO! He is a House~! En! FUEGO~!! Chop for Blue Dog D and a Blockbuster gets 2. Whip to RINO and Locke kicks him in the back of the head from the apron. Double team suplex! Assisted uranage slam by Loade gets two before RINO breaks it up. RINO and Blue Dog D set for the Flibuster Buster, Eric Cantor now ringside and up on the ring apron. Locke uses the distraction to hit a low blow. Locke lifts RINO up…4-D REDNECK DEATHBLAST! Loade gets the rollup for 3!

WINNER: ‘Raving Rednecks’ Locke and Loade in 7:22

Post match, the Green World Order (GreenPete, Extreme Vegan Brock Cole Lee, PeaceNick, and Peta from PETA) run-in. Cantor vacates. Lee and GreenPete eject Locke and Loade forceably from the ring. PeaceNick protests the violent manner of which Lee and GreenPete forceably eject Locke and Loade from the ring. Peta just screams out “”THANKSGIVING IS MURDER ON TURKEYS!” over and over. Crowd: “PEOPLE EATING (clap, clap clap-clap-clap) TASTY ANIMALS!
The Goatbusters, Peter Jenkman and Ray Scantz climb into the ring. Suave: “The winner gets NCISF’d on Wednesday night’s PCW/MVW House Show…Show.”

Abrams and Jenkman start things out with a shoving contest and Jenkman grabs a headlock and then bulls over him with a shoulder block. We get a leapfrog sequence and Abrams hits a gut punch, leaps over Jenkman and hits a spinning wheel kick. Scantz tags in, jumps into the ring and taunts, but Abrams is having none of it and hits a kick to the gut. They do a leapfrog sequence to a stalemate until Scantz schools Abrams with a series of armdrags. Bettis tags in, fakes a Greco-Roman Knucklelock and hits a boot to the gut, and follows with a stiff chop and a back elbow. Jenkman tags back in and they trade shoves, shoulder blocks and slaps. Kevin blows snot on Bettis and Bettis spits on Kevin. Jenkman wins a forearm exchange but Bettis hits a dropkick. He wins another strike war and whips Kevin to the corner and hits a corner clothesline, and then hits a snap mare before hitting a running boot for a two count. Abrams tags in and controls Kevin with corner thrusts but Jenkman counters a vertical suplex with his own. Jenkman grabs a front facelock and Scantz tags in. Scantz and Abrams trade strikes and Bettis is back in and so is Jim Frascantore. They hit a double football tackle on Scantz. Bettis covers for two.

Bettis hits a snap suplex for two and Scantz backs up and tags Jenkman in. Kevin telegraphs a back body drop and gets kicked, but he rolls under a clothesline and DDTs Bettis for two. Abrams tried to break up the cover and gets a snot rocket in his direction. He tells Scantz to put the boot up and slams Bettis’s face on the boot. Scantz is in and he gets two off a scoop slam. Jenkmanerico work in the drop toehold/somersault legdrop combo, Scantz takes out Abrams and Jenkman covers for two. Scantz tags back in and stays on top of things with strikes. He whips Bettis into the corner but runs into a back elbow, and Bettis hits the reverse STO into the middle turnbuckle. Bettis makes the tag and Abrams busts out some Redneck Fu and an Alabama Slam. Jenkman comes in and Abrams hits the leg lariat to the back of the neck. He runs into a boot and Scantz tosses him to the apron. Scantz dives onto Bettis and Abrams dives onto Jenkman!

Scantz and Abrams go back into the ring and stare each other down. Abrams wins a forearm battle but runs into Scantz’s modified Michinoku Driver. Scantz gets two and goes for the corner Yakuza Kick, but runs into a superkick. Both men make tags and Bettis and Jenkman trade forearms and elbows. LOTS of forearms and elbows. Bettis wins with punches and stomps a mudhole. He does the facewash but Scantz hits the Yakuza Kick when he goes to the other corner! SIDE EXPLODER BY ABRAMS! POWERBOMB BY JENKMAN! All four men are down! Jenkman and Bettis are up and trade punches, but Jenkman hits the Codebreaker! He heads up top, but the Swanton Bomb eats knees! Jenkman tags out but Scantz runs into a forearm. Scantz tosses Bettis to the apron but Abrams hits a clothesline and a cutter, Bettis lifts up Jenkman, DEATH VALLEY DRIVER ON THE APRON!

Jim Frascantore pick up Scantz and hit the crucifix bomb/neckbreaker combination. Bettis covers but Scantz kicks out at two! They set up for the Emergency Broadcast Suplex, but Jenkman grabs Abrams, VICTORY ROLL BY SCANTZ! ONE…TWO…THR-NO! Scantz grabs Bettis, and hits an Exploder into the buckles! Jenkman is in, CANNONBALL! Scantz is up top, SOMERSAULT COAST TO COAST DROPKICK BY SCANTZ! Cover…1…2…3!

WINNER: The Goatbusters in 15:27

With the recession slowing down movies and TV series production all over the world we the loyal fans

With the recession slowing down movies and TV series production all over the world we the loyal fans are missing out on long awaited sequels.

At a book signing of his fathers Dan Aykroyd said that besides the economic down turn, there has been no corporate interest in a third Ghosbusters Film – but beside the bad news he said that the script had been written. Co-star Bill Murray has said he has had his reservations about the movie, and said that

“Well, I don’t want to do it yet. There’s still no script, it’s just a bunch of talk. It’s just a wish list for someone. Until there is a really good script, I’ll stay home. It has to be a serious script before I leave the house”.

What is strange is that neither Murray or Aykroyd can seem to agree on whether there actually is a script, and whether the movies just talk and awaiting corporate interest.

I am a fan of the Ghostbusters series, and as it is in most cases it seems that sequals weren’t as good as the first. So once again we wait for futher Info.

Comedy is important to the way we live, it keeps a light feeling in our hearts and shines on the darkness of our realities. There have been many different kinds of shows that showcase talents of the comedy kind, and lately I have been witnessing one of the greats. No, not SNL, though a hilarious show in its early days, but instead, SCTV. A Canadian show with some fantastic people, who you will come to realize you know more than you’d think. Remember the dad from the American Pie movies? Yes, Eugene Levy, he is on it, and one of my favorite parts is one of his, Mel’s Rock Pile. Then you have the wonderful John Candy, which if you don’t know who he is, you probably need to dig yourself out of that dumpster you’ve been living in the past decade. Some other great actors, like Rick Moranis, yes, the dude from Ghostbusters, (and speaking of Ghostbusters, you’ll notice a young Harold Ramis on the show occasionally), you can see him as Gerry Todd, on the Gerry Todd Show, and other characters as well. With them you have Catherine O’Hara, a super funny lady and some other really great people who make this show one you should really check out, since I doubt most of you have ever heard of it. I even hear Martin Short is on the show but I haven’t quite made it that far, but I’ll keep you posted.

I think about Ghostbusters a lot. Maybe more than anyone should. But I find it uplifting and comfortable, like slipping in to bed at the end of a long day: it’s just right. I also used to use Ghostbusters as an age gauge: since I was able to see this in theaters — albeit pretty young — then if you were not born when Ghostbusters came out, the cultural divide between us was insurmountable and it would be creepy to date you. For the record, I’ve lifted that. I’m well up to Mannequin (1987) now. Call me!

Anyway, Annie Potts portrayed Miz Janine Melnitz, the Ghostbusters’ secretary, and here is some of that.

Games that are spawned from movies nearly always suck balls. With the exception of Goldeneye, Lego I

Games that are spawned from movies nearly always suck balls. With the exception of Goldeneye, Lego Indiana Jones / Batman / Star Wars, The Godfather, Hannah Montana Sing IT and The Seventh Seal : Magical Journey RPG. Ok, those last two don’t count. I made the Seal one up, could you tell? But no, they more often than not suck. And also reek of bad graphics, poor gameplay, woeful visuals and a general air of “let’s squeeze this cash cow until her udders explode, and I can pay to hide my several illegitmate children.”

Ghostbusters The Game was announced some time ago. I was excited from the get go, as I am a huge fan of the films, tv series and even the books that accompanied the TV series. But on the other hand, I was apprehensive. It had a lot to live up to. Those fears were alleviated when I found out that Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd were to pen the script for the game, and all the actors were to reprise their roles within the game.

The game plays out from the persepctive of a new recruit to the Ghostbusters family. (That’s you). You get thrown in to the deep end straight away. The first mission is at the Sedgewick Hotel, where you have to recapture that pesky, but strangely endearing “spud” of ectoplasm, Slimer. Using the proton pack for the first time with the Wiimote, and then throwing a trap onto the ground gave me a giddy thrill. And the subsequent opening with the signature theme tune only further cemented the sheer joy you feel when playing this game.

All the familiar characters are here. There’s even a few clever nods to both films. A picture of Gozer lies dormant in the museum level. The script and actors are top notch. Some choice lines being Venkman’s, “No, I’m not going after the little spud. I’ve seen this one before,. I know how it ends. You go for it, rookie.” My personal favourite is a toss up between Egon’s explanation of where he gets the time to work out all the new equipment for the Busters. “I have devised a nice routine, whereby I sleep for fourteen minutes a day. Naturally, this leaves me a lot of time to work on equipment.” And my second favourite is Winston, upon entering the Confederate Southern Texas wing of the museum. “Of all the rooms in the museum, this one was not top of my list.”

Gripewise, I only have two. The length of the game is not terribly huge. If you bashed away for six hours solid, you’d complete the game. And there is no online play available. Not a huge problem for me, but the option would have been nice.

Overall, I would highly recommend the game. On the Wii, mind. I’ve seen screenshots and videos of the X Box and PS versions. They look somewhat clinical and cold, the cartoon approach on the Wii reimburses that sense of fun that is associated with The Ghostbusters. I laughed, I zapped some ghosts, I was a ghostbuster for a week, and haven’t had this much fun playing a game since I discovered the chainsaw in Scarface : The World Is Yours.

“Ghostbusters: meets “Men in Black”, Hollywood tackles another science-fiction comedy. A meteor slam

“Ghostbusters: meets “Men in Black”, Hollywood tackles another science-fiction comedy.

A meteor slams into the earth narrowly missing a fire fighter recruit (Seann William Scott). The meteor brings out two college professors (David Duchovny, Orlando Jones) to investigate the impact.

The professors chip away at the meteor and bring back samples to their university. The meteor fragments are like nothing they have ever seen before. Before the two college professors realize there is a problem with the meteor fragments, the “impact” site is covered with government officials. Ted Levine and Julianne Moore are among the scientists called in with the military.

“Evolution” is the perfect summer movie for teens and nostalgia buffs. It’s brand of comedy isn’t as vulgar as a lot of the other comedies released this past year. It embraces director Ivan Reitman’s formula of goofiness with the military and science fiction like he did with his runaway hits of the 80’s classics “Stripes” and “Ghostbusters”.

It is utterly uncanny how many similarities there are in this film and “Ghostbusters”. Duchovny’s movement and charisma reminded me a lot of Bill Murray’s Peter Venkman in “Ghostbusters”. Julianne’s reluctance to Duchovny’s childish advances were a lot like what Murray and co-star Sigourney Weaver’s did in their scenes. The scenes where people shriek and runaway from the ghosts are here as the aliens come upon some unsuspecting suburbanites. Even the slime slowly creeps in but that would be giving too much away.

“Ghostbusters” was a huge hit in 1984 becoming the highest-grossing film of that year. “Ghostbusters” went on to become the highest grossing comedy in history until it was taken down by “Home Alone”.

I always wanted a Ghostbusters 3 but in some ways this film is almost a third one. It would have been incredible if they did bring in the original Ghostbusters cast for this flick. It may have been a lot funnier. I really wanted this film to have more laughs and more creatures.

I really fell in love with the “Ghostbusters” formula and science fiction laughs. On that alone I could have given this film a higher grade but it was the ending and the discovery of how to stop the aliens that really made me angry at the film’s writers.

After all that great lead up and comedy you end it with this? I was so disappointed with the lack of creativity and settling they did on this ending. I hope there is an alternate on the DVD.

The best scenes involve the aliens and man’s reactions. It’s a shame these were all seen in the trailers. The shopping mall scene and the rectal examination were by far the most entertaining scenes.

Originally this film was supposed to be a “horror” film like I would assume “Mimic” or “The Relic” but the studio decided to bring in Reitman to inject some humor. The film was reconceived and its what we have today. Does that story have any ramifications or influence on what made this film become what it is? Let me know your take on this.

3.5 out of 5

So Says the Soothsayer.

This past weekend, I ended up participating in a Ghostbusters Troop with my friends Liz and Steve, along with the Central Georgia Ghostbusters. It’s kinda funny how it happened–I was scheduled to go down and visit them anyway and Liz asked if I wanted to go.

Naturally, my response was “Please say you need a Janine!”

In an amazing feat of “guerilla costuming”, I was able to put together the most perfect little 80’s-style outfit ever, got out my red bob wig and I was set. The outfit came together in less than a day. Every bit of it just fell right into my lap!

The CGGB crew met up at the Eagles Landing Blood Drive and Health Fair, bright and early. I think we beat the second Bloodmobile there. XD

We’re ready to believe you!

A couple of divine ladies and one cool ride!
The No-Ghost emblem on the front is just too cool for words. I love it!

I caught a quick video of the Ecto as it left the fair.
I apologize for my cackling, but that car impressed me so much.

While we were there, Liz donated her very first pint of blood.

I went in the Bloodmobile with her so I could lend some moral support. I also held her goggles.

(See, Egon? C’mon, I’m into more than just reading and racquetball!)

And there’s Liz, getting drained.

She was a little woozy afterwards, but made it through like a total champ!

It was a very busy, very full day. After it was all over, we had to go back home and kinda recharge our batteries. It was all for a good cause and it looked like they had a pretty nice turnout! Big thanks to the Central Georgia Ghostbusters for letting me tag along. I hope it works out where I can do it again sometime.

(Note: All photos are courtesy Steve and myself. Steve’s are the better quality ones, of course since I was clicking away with my cell phone. *hee*)

For Halloween this year, we decided to dress up as Ghostbusters, complete with our proton packs and ecto goggles made by yours truly

Okay, now for the non-photoshopped/photo booth version…

It was a mellow evening for us since Pierre was still recovering from a cold and cough that I gave him (ooooops!). But we still had a lot of fun walking around Manhattan and Brooklyn dressed like this.

In other events, my sister and I went to the Yankee Ticker Tape Parade, despite the 30-something degree weather. It was way too crowded and all I ever saw were people’s backs. However, I did find a whole lot of amusement with the streams of toilet paper and trash bags of shredded office documents flying out of the skyscrapers!
