A Unique City Garden Wedding in Philly

This past weekend my husband and I, along with our good friends, traveled down to Philadelphia to what was the most unique wedding venue I’ve ever seen. My husband’s good high school friend married owner of Giant Dwarf, also on Etsy, in “The Magic Gardens” in Philadelphia, and we were so honored to share their special day. While it’s no secret that I love color, this venue was of particular interest to me as it was brimming with color, unique art, and most importantly a spirit of excitement and hope for the newlyweds. Take a look at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens. Have you ever seen anything like it?

Walls covered in mosaics made out of any ceramic, glass and porcelain materials possible.

Here’s a shot of the reception area. Notice the amazing walls in the background featuring glass bottles of all shades of color.

While everyone was taking their seat, I just had to explore the mosaic labyrinth adjacent to the seating area. Heading downstairs into a secret hidden area.

Down below, I felt like I was in a great pyramid with inspirational messages hidden in the beautiful artwork.

See, I wanted to get in the mood for the fourth of July but I wanted to do so without red, white, and blue. Art Star Craft Bazaar!

Lets talk about how awesome Art Star Craft Bazaar was! We had so much fun chatting it up with all the shoppers and vendors who came by our stand. We shared it with the lovely Corina Dross, we had some of her squid necklaces and they flew off the stand, we’ll be refreshing our shop soon with that and more collaborations with her. Saturday was quite busy and E was with us so there was the fun and managing of an almost 4 year old. On Sunday though I got a Mothers Day treat, as my Dad whisked her off all day for some Granddad fun and I got to peruse the stands and vend like the olden days. It was really relaxing! Some of my favorite things were these hand towels which she also had as cotton baby blankets by Betsy Olmsted. The prints and cards from just A jar, and their planting guide/ humor cookbook Soil Mates, I’m thinking now I should have gotten one. Lovely heirloom stuffed toys from The Wind & The Sail (wonderful evocative name too). Folklore plaques & prints from spread the love, I got a little plaque last year that says “a house is made of walls & beams, a home is made of love and dreams”. There were many other unique and lovely things, and many talented vendors I know and who do GO WEST! too. After our success on Saturday I felt enthused to buy a few things for myself from some of the vendors. I had been eying up Giant Dwarf’s headbands since I had lost the one I had bought 3 Art Star’s ago. I was especially pleased with the purchase since she isn’t making the kind I had anymore but decided to do one last hurahh before retiring the line. I bought this dress from Sarah-Maria of Meerwiibli, she was so nice to deal with really casual and friendly. She obviously wanted me to really like the dress and not just make a sale. The last thing was a trade with Melo Studios for a necklace that looked just perfect on her. I had done a trade with her partner at the Greensgrow Festival last year for some kids clothes so it was a funny full circle thing. They both seem like the loveliest of ladies, and now I have some delicious new candles to burn, I got clover, lemongrass & bugger off citronella. Two day Festivals can be really taxing but Mike and I felt really energized afterwards. It’s wonderful to see so many different vendors coming from different places, many with kids in tow, making such wonderful art and doing what they really love. That’s the dream… It’s pretty wonderful to be working toward it.

On my birthday last month I wore my Herbivore hoodie (koala design on the back), sequined top from JCrew, belt also from Herbivore Clothing, Levi’s jeans, vegan Dr.Marten’s and a star headband/crown made by Giant Dwarf, an Etsy seller but I found this at Wanderlust here in Portland. Score! And! A beautiful, delicious and perfectly sized chocolate mini-cake from Back to Eden.

(gasp!) this package showed up on my doorstep on Friday filled with Fancy Felt from Giant Dwarf. It is AWESOME. The colors are absolutely stunning. The colors were curated by Something’s Hiding In Here, inspired by their quintessential color palette which was inspired by their glorious globe collection. Also included was little letterpress samples from SHiH. Love it. Thanks so much to Giant Dwarf for the lovely, incredibly yummy fancy felt. I absolutely cannot wait to get to work with this felt! xo

I’m currently typing this with freshly painted nails – they appear to be dry but that is never the case so I’m being cautious!

I’ve found a lot of pretty things over the last few weeks – this feature has been absent for personal reasons…I’ve only really been able to update once a week with all the things that have been going on in my life recently! I’ll start off with the most recent pretty things I’ve found…

Really pretty shoes! I have a crush on brogues at the moment but nowhere near enough money to satiate it! Haha.

Pretty yarn from Debbie Stoller’s new yarn line, Stitch Nation! I’m so bummed it’s only available in the US right now. The colours in the Full o’ Sheep line (hehe, what a great name!, and featured above) are sumptious and I wouldn’t mind a ball of each!

So there are a few pretty things to help get you through this weekend! I may be a little late with my Sunday Round Up this week as IT’S MY BIRTHDAY ON SATURDAY!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! It’s also Katja and Erin’s birthday’s tomorrow so go wish them a happy birthday too! I’m bummed I can’t be at Erin’s Alice In Wonderland themed birthday party in Springfield this weeked (so is Katja) but I’m sure we will all spend a brthday weekend together at some point! Happy Birthday ladies! I’m glad and honoured I’m able to include you in my new circle of friends! Crafty kisses and hugs!

Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn, this weekend!

So go darn it!! RCF is in McCarren Park (but not in the pool this year) in lovely Brooklyn, NY.

Sadly, I won’t be attending or vending this year due to other travel plans in June. And I’m so bummed because this year’s Renegade Craft Fair is the biggest and best looking offering of amazing handmade crafts, art to date. The offering of incredible work from the DIY and Handmade culture is just fantastic, and the Renegade Craft Fairs are the premiere shows loaded with international talent.

Seriously. I feel like a ghost and watching all of my crafty, arty friends are hanging out together. BooooOOOOoooo :rattleschanins:

I have written before how I have a weakness for cute hats and I think that I found another one to add to my collection. Giant Dwarf makes the cutest and downright the most feminine hats that I think I have every seen. The color combinations are so pretty and who can resist the oversized flower on the side. I want to buy them all up. A great way to keep warm and stylish.
