friday:

after concluding my work week i headed home in the uber humid weather to my uber humid apartment. i think my hair size doubled. fo rizzle. but anyways. i kicked off the weekend with some always fun cleaning and then watched my very first james bond movie; quantum of solace. i had never seen any of the james bond movies, and other than the many references that were made around my high school graduation, since i graduated in ’07, i had never really known much about them. my first “bond” experience was a good one, though. so perhaps i will catch on. then it was off to the always delicious chipotle for some grub. yummy, as per usual. i hadn’t partook in this deliciousness in awhile, so it was wonderful to be reunited once again.

saturday: 

the day got started off with a a yummy mocha and catching up at starbucks, then a trip to the minneapolis famers market with my dear friend briizy and roomie panda. it was my first time venturing to this market, and we had a small amount of difficulty finding it (and really, what is a trip with me without a little difficulty?), but once we got there it was fantastic. it is HUGE! and there was clothes, and jewelry, herbs, flowers, food, and produce as far as my eyes could see. the smells were absolutely amazing. and we even got to do some sample testing. kettle corn…mmmmmm. and the best homemade pasta sauce EVER. omg. amazing. i didn’t have any cash on me so i didn’t make any purchases but i cannot wait to go back again and veg out on some mini donuts, sweet corn, strawberries, coffee, and every other yummy goodness around. though, it was a little hazy outside it was nice to be out and enjoy the morning with my dear friends. 

then, it was back to the apartment just in time to beat the rain and get ready for my family to arrive. after the whole gang arrived we hung out and enjoyed not having internet or cable and a couple fuzzy navels. then we ventured out into the rainy saturday to stella’s fish cafe, only a couple blocks away from my place. i had never been there, but was super excited to go. we were all a little bummed about the weather, since there are two rooftop decks at stellas, but another time. we got there, i realized i forgot the coupon i had, so my dad and i ran back to my place to go get it. i ordered a sangria, because i love me some sangria, however i learned that i need to learn to read the drink description before ordering. i had a taste in mind about what my sangria should taste like; fruity, winey, yummy. the sangria i received was strong, strong, and strong. i guess there was grand mariner in it. and i just found out i am not a fan. either way, i had the fish and chips which was absolutely incredibly delicious. it was fun for all of us to get together and celebrate fathers day full of jokes, ridiculous comments, sarcasm and good times.

after dinner we headed back to my place and loaded up the cars to head home for the weekend. my dad drove my car and it was fun to catch up and chat with him and jam out to some “good tunes.” after we got back home, i went to hang out with a couple high school friends i hadn’t seen in about 3 years! i stayed up until 2am, living the crazy albert lea life… haha.

sunday:

happy fathers day daddy! we started the day off at church and then treated dad to a fancy schmancy brunch at McDonalds. egg mcmuffins are his favorite (mine too). then it was back home to read the paper and watch tv. have i mentioned i don’t have cable or internet at my place?! so i soaked it up all day. i have kind of missed watching trashy tv. the twins were playing, so thats what was on just about every tv in the dahl house. of course, we couldn’t all watch it together. my friend carl was there and got on tv so it was fun to watch the pregame show. then it was off to get some groceries with my mom and little brother. wow. that was a trip. my brother has more energy than i have after i drink a case of diet coke. its go go go go go. talk talk talk talk talk. god bless him, i dont know where all that energy and chattiness comes from and i am not used to it at all. very different than my grocery store experiences. i make a list. i go in. i get what i need. i get out. boom. grocery shopping with my mom and brother was a whole other experience in and of itself. it was exhausted afterwards and took a nap. 

after my little cat nap it was supper time with burgers on the grill by spencer. we bought chips and guacamole which i am pretty sure that my mom dad and i devoured before the burgers were ready. so good. it was fun to sit back in the patio and enjoy the beautiful weather and grilled goodness.  after we cleaned up my mom and i went on a walk and then we all sat in the driveway in classic dahl fashion and enjoyed root beer floats and watching the cars go by. it was a great fathers day and i am so happy i was home to spend the day with the family.

another weekend, over as soon as it began. and another week beginning. hope you all had a wonderful weekend and a lovely week ahead!
