Angie posted this meme earlier this week, and how could I resist? Compile a list of your top 10 favo

Angie posted this meme earlier this week, and how could I resist? Compile a list of your top 10 favorite TV couples to share. These are in no particular order.

1. Josh & Donna, The West Wing

2. CJ & Danny, The West Wing

3. Bartlet & Abby, The West Wing

What West Wing fan didn’t feel all warm and fuzzy when Josh and Donna finally became a couple? I love watching the banter, the way they know each other so well, and the way neither lets the other get away with any crap. They can make each other laugh, and they are always there when needed. Josh is brilliant but arrogant, and a good friend; Donna is gullible yet savvy, smart, and can see right through him. A good tv couple, in my opinion, has loads of tension and what-if build-up. And two characters who challenge and complement each other.

And that’s why two more of my favorite couples also come from West Wing. CJ and Danny circle each other more obviously, maybe, than Josh and Donna, but the connection is still complex. And they are still two smart and funny people who get each other.

Then there’s the President and First Lady. Some of the best scenes in the show are when they’re fed up and yelling at each other, because it shows a strong relationship many years in, and with many problems and strains. They push each others buttons, but they, too, know that underneath everything is support and strength.

4. Veronica and Logan, Veronica Mars

This clip says it all, doesn’t it? Epic, volatile, dangerous, yet also vulnerable and sweet.

5. Rory & Jess, Gilmore Girls

Jess might be my favorite tv bad boy. He’s always been my favorite of Rory’s boys. He’s smart and is a reader, so can meet her on an intellectual level, but he challenges her goody-goody nature. And he just always kept coming back. In my mind, at the end of Gilmore Girls, Rory went off with Obama’s campaign, saw Jess during a stop in Philly, and they live happily ever after.

6. Ally McBeal & Larry, Ally McBeal

The favorite TV couple from the college years. Robert Downey, Jr. playing Larry completely won the hearts of me and my roommate. He and Ally are just so adorably crazy, in such compatible ways.

7. Scarecrow & Mrs. King, Scarecrow & Mrs. King

How can you not love an ’80s spy couple?

8. Roger & Joan, Mad Men

They’re funny, they’re challenging to each other, and they always know where the other stands. And who doesn’t love Joan?

Bromances. Sometimes the best couples are friendships rather than romances.

9. Seth & Ryan, The O. C.

I never really watched much of The O. C. because I couldn’t stand the girls. But every once and a while I’d turn it on and would be totally charmed by the friendship between Seth and Ryan. They’re hilarious, and such terrific friends.

10. Stefan & Damon, The Vampire Diaries

They so often make me laugh! I think their banter may be one of the main reasons I have gotten so into this show.

Who knew that four words could drive people crazy?

“Gilmore Girls” creator Amy Sherman-Palladino is keeping mum about the last four words she planned her characters to say in the finale.

The Gilmore girls never got to utter them since Sherman-Palladino left the show before the final season aired.

It’s not all bad news though.

Sherman-Palladino is holding out for a possible “Gilmore Girls” movie. She also teases that Rory (Alexis Bledel) would have taken “a different sort of path” had Sherman-Palladino stayed with the series. What do you think it would have been? Comment away!

And until the “Gilmore Girls” movie comes along, here’s a video of some “Gilmore” jokes:

What I’m Watching (On DVD): Gilmore Girls Season 2, Star Trek (The Original Series) Season 1, SCTV Volume 1

What I’m Listening to: Flight of the Conchords – I Told You I Was Freaky, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Dig Lazarus Dig!, Steely Day – Can’t Buy a Thrill

What I’m Reading: Neil Gaiman – Sandman, Stephen King – Salem’s Lot

What I’m Doing: Pre-Production of short film, Con Artists – filming hopefully to begin sometime next month. This is a project I’m working on with my lady friend, Katie, and is something we’re both passionate about. Con Artists follows 4 washed-up actors reuniting in a shitty bar for the first time in 15 years. What follows is lots of beer, bad food, and a look at storytelling synonymous with banter.

The new season of Curb is going pretty pretty pretty good, forgetting even all of the Seinfeld hype. Can’t wait to see what LD has in store for the season finale. Dexter is quite interesting this season and they even took some really big risks (ex: SPOILER – the death of Lundy). I’m certainly enjoying this season much more than the last. Jimmy Smits was great and all, but looking back, Season 3 was kind of boring. Plus I think John Lithgow is doing an exceptional job. Kind of makes you forget about a time when he wasn’t considered a “villain” by the viewing public. And as far as Dollhouse goes, all I can say is that it is getting better each episode. Sad to see it cancelled but will make the most of it and watch the rest of Season 2/Series in December. It’s Always Sunny…while still probably the funniest show on TV, just doesn’t compare to the early seasons (1, 2, maybe 3).

I’m not afraid to admit I’m a fan of the Gilmore Girls. The study of small town behavior, friends and family (and coffee) resonates somewhere in my mind and blocks the fact that this is even considered a ”chick show”. Plus, it’s fun to watch a show where you catch 95% of the references. I’m only on episode 4 of Star Trek but I already see it will be a low-budget (or cheap) but revolutionary sci-fi show that will present interesting ideas in space. SCTV (Network 90) is a straight-up classic featuring two of my favorite comedic actors: John Candy and Rick Moranis. Some of my favorite sketches include: anything with Johnny LaRue, Monster Chiller Horror Theater, The Gerry Todd Show, and Mel’s Rock Pile.

Flight of the Conchords – I Told You I Was Freaky is getting heavy rotation in my car due to basically all of the songs. What a fun album to listen to! I also just brought out Nick Cave and the Bad Seed’s album Dig Lazarus Dig! for the first time since it was new, and I still think it’s one of the band’s best. Steely Dan’s Can’t Buy a Thrill LP is being played on the record player – a great album to hear on vinyl if you haven’t.

Just finished Neil Gaiman’s Sandman Vol. 2: The Doll’s House. I could not put this book down. I was enthralled by the story from the get-go, from the prelude to the closing chapter, and especially the in-between (Men of Good Fortune and the Cereal Convention). Going for Dream Country next. Also got through the first part of Salem’s Lot and now working on the Emperor of Ice Cream. I’ve seen both films but this is my first time reading the book. So far, book is winning.

I’ve been sort of watching THE GOOD WIFE; I have it on so I can listen and occasionally glance

I’ve been sort of watching THE GOOD WIFE; I have it on so I can listen and occasionally glance at it while doing other things, but my colleague Mala has really been stumping for it, so I made the effort to pay attention to last night’s episode — and was rewarded with an interesting story of suspected jury-tampering.

Alicia Florrick is the titular character; her state’s attorney husband was jailed following a public sex scandal, and Alicia was seen grimly “standing by her man” at his press conference. Star Julianna Margulies is a very appealing actress who imbues the wronged wife with an amiability that really works. The show’s premise is original, and Margulies runs with the character. Alicia shows more than a little vulnerability, but projects a facade of competence and dignity that keeps her from looking silly. The big question is obvious: How could she not know? Was she that oblivious? Was she just a stooge? Alicia asks herself those same probing questions with every home video and gift she reconsiders.

As a bonus, the-powers-that-be are able to find intriguing legal storylines to go with the interesting characters. Alicia has returned to her career as a lawyer and — surprise, surprise — she’s pretty darn good at it. Her compassion for the victims in cases is often the key to victory. (Gee, wonder where that comes from?) But the cases also take lots of legwork, and luckily Alicia meshes well with “in house” investigator Kalinda Sharma (portrayed by British actress Archie Panjabi). Kalinda boasts a more streetwise, edgy persona. Alicia also works with Cary, despite the fact that actor Matt Czuchry (ex-Logan, GILMORE GIRLS) looks too young to be a law student, let alone a litigator. Margulies seems to have a real connection with LAW & ORDER vet Chris Noth, who plays her crooked, incarcerated hubby Peter. (Hey, what’s not to like about SEX AND THE CITY’s Big and ER’s Carol Hathaway hooking up?) I like that Peter is still in the picture as a kind of Yoda peddling a jaded insider’s view of the way the game is really played. Alicia resists the Dark Side because she wants to be…y’know, good.

Glad you asked,

You see, at the moment I am putting on a “Gilmore Girl” marathon to be stretched as far as the Library can allow me, (Yes, i occasionally Borrow, yet I am an avid Owner). As of this very second, i am embarking on the second season, around episode 6. Used to watch this show with me Mums, great thoughts fill my head of bonding and laughter, i do miss it. But now the journey has come back and with me this round is the boyfriend! Yes, shocking, I know! A male who watches the Gilmore Girls without brunt force trauma & duct tape. He adores it, and would still hold true to his “guy” ways and be a smidgen’ embarrassed by my telling of this tale. Oh well.

It’s a wonderful, magical show that I enjoy immensely, as would any of you who would take the leap and decide to open your heart to the quick-witted mother daughter duo. I’ll keep you posted on my travels through this lighthearted dimension called Stars Hallow. Until then, my fellow internet geeks.

With all the good and positive change going on in America since Barack Obama took over, there are st

With all the good and positive change going on in America since Barack Obama took over, there are still constant reminders of the disgusting activities that took place over the past eight years.

I’m not laying this one at the feet of the Bush administration, though. Still, it’s grotesque.

Let me tell you a little bit about Jamie Leigh Jones. In 2005, she was a 23-year-old employee of Halliburton/ KBR, a military contractor working in Iraq. While in Iraq, she says she was brutally gang-raped (is there any other kind than brutal? by seven U.S. contractors, and held in a shipping container by two guards. She was drugged, severed severe injuries, and was denied food and water.

She has been trying, for years now, to get some kind of justice for the pain and suffering she went through.

But thanks to the laws of these here United States, according to this ABC News story, Jones is still waiting for her day in court. Because the alleged rape happened overseas, she can’t press charges in a U.S. Court.

And apparently, when she signed on as an employee, she unknowingly agreed to waive any rights to a jury trial in any criminal proceeding, and was forced into having her claims decided through secret, binding arbitration.

Anyway, up to the present: A bipartisan group of Senators, led by Al Franken, has won an amendment to a defense appropriations bill, allowing private contractor employees overseas access to the U.S. Court. Specifically, Franken’s amendment would withhold defense contracts from Halliburton and the like if they restrict their employees from taking workplace sex assault, battery and discrimination cases to court.

To my utter amazement, thirty Republican Senators voted against this, and the Pentagon AND the U.S Chamber of Commerce argued against the amendment as well, saying in a letter that it could set a dangerous precedent.

Franken’s amendment may not survive the final vetting of the bill, which is disgusting.

Even after Bush and Chaney are gone, Halliburton and their buddies still get their way.

And rape victims like Jones have to wonder when they’ll ever see justice.

***Another excellent episode of “Glee” on Wednesday night. Loved the “Endless Love” duet, and the harrowing scene at Quinn Febray’s house (with the guy who played Logan’s dad on “Gilmore Girls” in it!) when she tells her parents she’s pregnant.

One big complaint with the show, though: No Sue Sylvester! I need my Sue’s Corner segment. I need her biting and caustic remarks! Looks like she’s back next week, and that Rachel Berry is turning into Sandy from “Grease.” Can’t wait.

**Finally, I leave you with some bathroom knowledge. Literally. So I’m in the Lakeland Center in Lakeland, Fla, Wednesday, covering the state volleyball tournament, and I go to the restroom.

While there, I discover this brand-new handle on the toilet, that tells me that, to save water, I should push the handle up if there’s a No. 1 issue, and down if there’s a No. 2 issue. I was totally unaware of this breakthrough in conservation and toilet technology. I think it’s brilliant, though I want to know exactly HOW they determine how much water is required to flush a No. 2.

Boy, first the no-touch automatic flushing, and now this. What will they think of next?

Despite my best efforts to not sink into lethargy and dribble away my better-spent time watching tel

Despite my best efforts to not sink into lethargy and dribble away my better-spent time watching television, I can never seem to pry myself away from the glittering glisten of a shiny new season box set. And thus, I’ve frittered away countless days watching season after season, series after series, pining for the quell to a confounding cliffhanger or unanswered quandary. But alas and alack, not all of those questions could be answered. Nay, many of my favorite shows are among those that have lived and died in the 2000s, and so – ah, yes – they shall be chronicled in list form.

10. The Tick (2001-2002)
This quirky brainchild of a half-baked show, spawned from the cult comic book created by cartoonist Ben Edlund (and, inversely, a short-lived animated version), garnered less than a few rave reviews from the critics. However, a dutiful crew of bandies have kept the legend alive, making sure that a blue body-suited Patrick Warburton (perhaps better known in the Seinfeld universe as Puddy the face-painter) made it to DVD.

09. Wonderfalls (2004-2005)
The wonderfully pretense-free Wonderfalls operated on its own oddities, condoning the likes of apathetic twenty-somethings in less-than-turbulent times. Protagonist Jaye – a likably dispicable underacheiver with a penchant for talking to inatimate objects – somehow begs the audience to cheer for her through her trials and tribulations of mediocrity. Think Dead Like Me’s George Lass with a bit more wit and it’s clear to see why it’s a tragedy that this little engine that didn’t feel like it never stuck.

08. Coupling (2000-2004)
It’s no wonder creator Stephen Moffat employed his own wife in order to write this hilariously uncomfortable British romp of a sitcom, nor is it a surprise; Coupling thrives off the chemistry of its quirky components – why, couples, of course. It’s Ross-and-Rachel riddled with sexcapades and stickiness, all topped off with quick writing, dry wit and a hideous laugh track. Perhaps America just wasn’t ready.

07. Firefly (2002-2003)
Take Joss Whedon, Nathan Fillion, and experimental spaghetti sci-fi and throw them into a kettle-drum of a spaceship. Add a few felonies and that Whedon whimsy to the mix and you’ve got a cult classic that never deserved (though, understandably got) the axe. At least those fine folks in following managed to snag a DVD release, complete with four never-aired episodes the ‘verse just couldn’t do without.

06. Undeclared (2001-2002)
It’s surprising to learn that two – yes, TWO! – of Judd Apatow’s star-studded series perished before season two renewal, perhaps because, well, no one was actually a star just yet. After the untimely demise of the exorbitantly clever, bleak, and nostalgic Freak and Geeks in 1999, Apatow employed the help of a few familiar faces and chronicled the lives of many an awkard college freshman in the incredibly enjoyable and under-appreciated Undeclared.

05. Extras (2005-2007)
Ricky Gervais’s cringe-fest chronicling the pathetic happenings of hapless movie extras made us all appreciate a bit of unadulturated dry humor. Juxtapose Extras‘ brilliance with the tongue-in-cheek laugh-track-ridden show-within-a-show our protagonist unwittingly creates, and you’ve got a hideously hilarious gem (riddled with the likes of many a self-effacing celeb).

04. Gilmore Girls (2000-2007)
Say what you will about the apparent chick-fest that is Gilmore, but don’t you dare glare at those gleaming smiles and frothy-colored DVD cases and judge this series by its cover. Truly, not many more shows pack the heft, heart, and hilarity this one so earnestly offered up before we sadly had to bid adieu to our favorite dysfunctional family (that somehow, seemed to function just fine).

03. Pushing Daisies (2007-2009)
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, Daisies didn’t deserve to go. However, cancellation upset was no stranger to the talent behind this lush and lovely dramedy, as former Wonderfalls alum – Bryan Fuller and Lee Pace – bled their hearts into this little ditty as well. But it’s condolence enough to have those two fateful seasons archived in bursting, blooming box sets, as this ever-resting series is a simple joy to obsessively rewatch.

02. Battlestar Galactica (2004-2009)
There are no casual BSG fans. Nay; to know Galactica is to love it, and to love it is to live it. There’s nothing about this show that doesn’t catch you and keep you, love you and leave you. Alright, so I’m being ridiculously dramatic, but it’s perhaps warranted – and this not-so-guilty-pleasure has its cultish following clamouring for more. So if you can swing the ridiculous overpricing of the multiple half-season DVDs, you might just understand what everybody’s frakking about.

01. Arrested Development (2003-2006)
I don’t mean to be bold, but there are few things that will ever be able to stack up to the likes of AD. From the lunacy to the brilliance, the quirky to the questionable, the innuendos that stretched the seasons to the incessant pop-culture references, nothing can compare to the odd integrity of it all. And perhaps that’s exactly the way it should be. Rest in peace, Bluths, if you can.

- A Costco store in East Harlem, New York will now be selling discount designer bags. They are completely real, but the discount is probably not the discount you wish it would be.

Burberry’s mini satchel costs $1,019.99. A medium shopper tote by Tod’s is $549.99. The Ferragamo “Marissa” handbag goes for $629.99. And the Chanel bag costs $1,999.

Now, you can buy your purses and food all in the same place.

T.V. reruns and tv on dvd have made it possible for people to watch any show produced almost since the beginning of programming at their leisure. Such channels as TV Tropolis have made it their business to air nothing but reruns. And for myself personally, tv on dvd is a huge obsession. But that is not what this post is about… today the focus is Dawson’s Creek.

I bring this up because it recently came to my attention that the above mentioned channel plays reruns of Dawson’s Creek everyday at 1pm (why must I be a school?!) and it got me thinking about teen dramas. It seems to me that every teen drama has a specific generational appeal. Now, I am of the Gilmore Girls’ generation, and I will defend the excellence of that show until I die, while Dawson’s Creek represented the group of kids before me. But after the show ended, many years after, I began watching reruns and fell in love with the show. It has so many good things going for it, I mean the show itself was created and written by Kevin Williamson (creator of the Scream franchise). There is the show opener, a song everyone can identify. And the dialogue, the characters all talked in a very high brow manner, and I feel justifiably represent the bottom end of Generation X.

But why are teen dramas and Dawson’s Creek important? They are a reflection of their times. When you go back and watch these show,s the pop culture references, the love you had for the cute boys on the show, the clothing, they all bring you back to a time when you were facing the same challenges as the kids on tv. Not every plot was realistic, but I feel this show and Gilmore Girls was in a way, moreso than shows now like Gossip Girl and the new 90210. However, it could also be that I have outgrown the ability to understand the teen drama because it is not representative of my current life experiences. But, this is why I am obsessed with them, because although your highschool years are short, and better left in the past, they remind you of a time when life was idealistic and full of possibility.

That aside, I will always stand by W.B. teen dramas. And right now, I hear the Dawson-Joey-Pacey love triangle calling my name. Da da daa da da daa…

Here is a little finale montage to make the day better.

There is nothing better than I good montage… I buy in everytime. I feel tingly all over…

Gilmore Girls (a.k.a.

Porém, a própria Amy Sherman-Palladino disse a Ausiello:

It is very likely that most of us have taken a mint when walking out of a restaurant. A lot of times

It is very likely that most of us have taken a mint when walking out of a restaurant. A lot of times these mints are not wrapped up; a spoon was probably there so that people don’t touch unwrapped mints with their dirty hands. I don’t know about you, but I just grab one with my hands anyways. I actually got reprimanded at Whole Foods the other day because I took a nut out of the nut container with my bare hands. So why am I talking about this?

Well, as coined by Rory on a Gilmore Girls episode, these mints are “urine mints.” He stated that urine mints occur “when people go to the bathroom and they don’t wash their hands and they come out and take a mint.” Does this make any of us cringe, thinking that we may be consuming even a “poopie mint?” That grosses me out.

According to Snopes.com, there is no legislation related to the sanitary measures taken on mints in restaurants. There has been talk of legislation though.

Also, after reading an article on Helium.com, I have adopted some of the necessary precautions in order to avoid taking contaminated mints. The five most useful pointers were:

-Use your eyes!! Look around, is the restroom dirty, is the restaurant in good condition? Ask these questions.

-Wash your hands in order to contribute to the overly sanitary atmosphere of the restaurant.

-Check for signs in the restrooms stating when it was last cleaned.

-Are there handtowels or paper towels? A restroom with hand towels is definitely less sanitary than a bathroom with paper towels.

-DON’T EAT THE MINTS! Bring your own, that you know are clean!

CC catches us up on The Good Wife.

THE GOOD WIFE: 1.06 “Conjugal”
THE GOOD WIFE: 1.07 “Unorthodox”

Two weeks ago, I can’t remember anything exciting happening on The Good Wife other than Peter and Alicia having a conjugal visit. Of course, the previews made it seem like “holding hands” meant that they were going to get it on. But no, they slept in separate beds. The only reason a conjugal visit was necessary was because they needed a place to talk that didn’t involve a video camera or a transcript. I thought that episode was sort of slow. The case was interesting because Alicia and company managed to get a falsely accused inmate off death row, but little else of interest happened…except that Francine from Gilmore Girls now appears to be a regular.

This week, however, we had a lot more good stuff. First, the firm is doing layoffs, and everyone fears for their job. Will tells Alicia that she needs to impress Stern (the other partner that we never see) by being second chair his daughter’s civil suit so that she can be retained over Cary. Apparently, Stern’s daughter had an eruv wire outside her house that fell, and it was unable to be repaired due to the Sabbath. Alicia’s paired up with outside counsel, Ryan Alprin, who chooses to argue that Anna and her husband’s religion prevented them from making repairs. And it turns out, that said argument may have worked until it turned out that Anna wasn’t so estranged from her dad after all. She used her cell phone to call him on the Sabbath! Luckily, Alicia and Kalinda discover that the plaintiff colluded with someone at the security company to make the wire come down.

Despite laying off a bunch of attorneys, Will decides that the firm should hire Alprin and asks Kalinda to run a background check. That search yields the surprising result that Alprin’s not actually an attorney. He flunked the bar, which is tough. Since they’re about to win, Alicia makes a surprising decision (at least to Kalinda)—she’s going to make Alprin rest the defense, take a walk around the building so that they can win before she reports him to the judge. This is too bad because there was some serious flirting action going on between them. Meanwhile, Will proposes that he and Diane make moves to oust Stern from the firm to save them from laying off so many attorneys. Diane doesn’t like that idea, mainly because Stern usually votes her way at board meetings, and she needs his alliance, especially with hiring decisions. Could this mean that Alicia’s going to be out of a job? No…I really doubt it, but I’m sure the Cary vs. Alicia decision will be coming soon, and I’m going to bet someone that both are retained.

It wouldn’t be an episode of The Good Wife without some home drama which bordered on absurd this week. Alicia’s son last noticed that photos of his father smoking crack with a prostitute were photoshopped. Naturally, he decides to find the prostitute so that he can talk to her, get her to admit that it was fake, and obviously reveal her true identity. Keep dreaming, kid. Seriously. Naturally, he finds her picture online, calls it and charges it to his grandmother’s credit card, only to find out that the lady on the phone isn’t the lady in the picture. Clearly, he’s never been on match.com. Anyway, Jackie finds out and Alicia has a conniption fit on her kid because he shouldn’t be calling prostitutes.

I did feel sort of bad for her son, who’s so memorable that I can’t remember his name. He didn’t feel that he can tell his mother that he’s on a one man mission to exonerate her husband. Next week, it looks like Alicia will be testifying for Peter. I’m actually interested in seeing this, more than I have been these past couple weeks. The Peter/Alicia conflict and the economic battles of the firm are certainly better viewing than the cases lately. However, I’d be even more psyched if Alexis Bledel became a cast member (wishful thinking here…I am not reporting rumors) so that we could have a Rory/Logan reunion. ‘Til Tuesday!

The past week has been pretty rough. I’ve been working and running around non stop, completing papers, doing errands, getting the H1N1 vaccination (my mom made me), all on small, stressed out boughs of sleep. I never sleep well when I’m stressed. Last night, I crashed. I just couldn’t do it anymore. I had to stop and reboot. So I turned off the lights, lit a few candles and decided to watch Gilmore Girls in bed. However, upon perusing through my CD case, I made a starling discovery- two discs are missing. I have no idea where they are. No idea. This is a problem. Alarms started sounding, women and children were corralled into life boats, Gil Grissom was called to the scene- we have a code red emergency here people.

In reality, I’m not super concerned yet, but it is mildly unsettling. What am I going to do if I have a bad day and can’t watch “The Incredible Sinking Lorelais?” There is a Gilmore Girls for every occasion. Graduation, birthdays, holidays, break-ups, break-downs, straight As, straight Ds, first kisses, first day of school, the list goes on. They are my constant support system. I know I sound crazy and deranged. I know that they are fictional characters in a fictional world, but there are times when the world turns on you and so, in retaliation, you turn to a better one. I can’t think of a better world to turn to than Stars Hollow. I know how things are going to turn out there, I know it will all end for the best. Gilmore Girls is a comfort and an escape (a witty, well written escape). Please come home soon, disc three season four and disc one season five, I may need you.

UPDATE (11/22/2209): I found Gilmore Girls, they had fallen between some books in my night tabel made of milk crates
