Z Polski do Włoch jest naprawdę blisko. Muzycznie. Mentalnie. Mamy ten sam problem.  Zbyt często nasza muzyka jest za słaba, żeby przebić się przez amerykańsko-brytyjski potok. Tych podobieństw jest więcej:

Pierwsza: Mtv = zło. Włączam włoskie Mtv i widzę siedemnastoletnich chłopców, poprzebieranych i umalowanych. Przypominają parodię Tokio Hotel. (już nie czarna kredka w stylu Emo, ale zielony cień. Trend się odwraca ku happy Emo).  Z tą różnica, że to nie jest parodia. Smutek naszych czasów.

Druga: po latach ‘60 i ‘70 odziedziczyli w spadku wielu wybitnych bardów, lecz by ich zrozumieć trzeba mieć włoską duszę. Wiedzieć jak to jest, gdy czuje się jednocześnie melancholię i pasję. Zrozumieć wybrzmiewający ból historii. Trochę tak, jak Kaczmarski. Tylko dla Polaków. De Andre, Battisti, Battiato. Tylko dla Makaronów. Kropka.
Nie jest to muzyka, która kruszy bariery językowe i którą można zrozumieć bez względu na różnice.

Trzecia: by znaleźć coś wartościowego, trzeba przebić się przez masę szlamu. W tym wypadku nawałnicę klonów Erosów, Laur P. i innych Tizianów F. Zadanie jest utrudnione, bo radio nie serwuje nic innego za wyjątkiem powyższych oraz amerykańskiego fast foodu.

Czwarta: Jeśli zadasz sobie trochę trudu, odkryjesz, że jest jeszcze nadzieja. Jeśli.

La Polonia e’ veramente vicino all”Italia. Musicalmente. Mentalmente. Abbiamo lo stesso problema.  La nostra musica e’  troppo debole per combattere con il flusso americano-britannico. Le analogie ce ne sono piu’:

Prima: La Mtv = il male. Dalla Mtv mi guardano i ragazzi sedicenni, truccati e travestiti che sembrano una parodia dei Tokio Hotel (una nera matita per gli occhi, lo stile Emo, l’hanno scambiata con l’ombretto verde – happy Emo). Solo che questo non e’ una parodia. La tristezza dei nostri tempi.

Seconda: degli anni ‘60 e ‘70 hanno ereditato una marea dei cantautori geniali. Purtroppo per capirli ci serve un’anima italiana. Essere in grado a provare la melanconia e la passione nello stesso tempo. Capire il dolore della storia che risuona dal lontano. Un po’ come il nostro Kaczmarski. Solo per i polacchi. De Andre’, Battisti, Battiato. Solo per gli italiani. Punto.
Non e’ una musica che rompe le frontiere linguistiche. Piu’ che legare, slega.

Terza: per trovare qualcosa di valore, bisogna scavare nel fango.  In questo caso, nel fango dei cloni di Eros, Laura P., Tiziano F. Questo non e’ facile siccome la radio serve solo i sopramenzionati o il fast-food americano.

Quarta: se uno si sforzi, puo’ anche scoprire che c’e’ la speranza. Se.

Assassin’s Creed is one of the year’s most anticipated games. It features Ezi Auditore de Firenze. He is the son of Giovanni Auditore, an assassin. This drives him to thirst for vengeance and from then on you are a killing machine, gaining new weapons and armor as you go. You can even attain the legend, Altair’s sword and armor. It is up to you. Yes, beloved readers…I’ve finally tried it. Giovanni’s Direct Leave-in.

After lemming this product for several months, it popped up in my local health food store and I jumped at the chance to use it.

Okay…I’m exaggerating…a tad…but reviews generally fall along the lines of Love and Hate.

Where do I fall?

That said, this isn’t my Holy Grail leave-in. It IS one of four leave-ins my hair actually likes, which is saying a great deal for my picky crop of cashmere.

Much of my love for this leave-in lay in its great ingredients:

Aqua (Purified Water), Rosemary (Rosmarinus Officinalis) Oil, Nettle (Urtica Dioica) Oil, Thyme (Thymus Vulgaris) Oil, Birch Leaf (Butela Alba) Oil, Chamomile (Anthemis Nobilis Flower) Oil, Clary (Salvia Sclarea), Lavender (Lavandula Angustifolia), Coltsfoot Leaf (Tussilago Fargara), Yarrow (Achillea Millefolium) Oil, Mallow (Malya Sylvestris), Horsetail (Equisetum Arvense) Oil, Soybean Protein (Glycine Soja), Cetyl Alcohol (Plant Derived), Tocopherol (*Vitamin E), Trace Minerals, Citric Acid (Corn), Sodium Hydroxymethlyglycinate, Grapefruit Seed (Citrus Derived)

This list is a bit misleading. You would think this is oil-laden. Not as much as it appears. If it had as much oil in the product as the ingredient list makes it appear this would be a terrible mess. The cetyl alcohol is doing some heavy lifting in this silicone and paraben free product.

That said, this creamy, slightly tacky, fairly light and cloudy product spreads like a dream. It wraps around each strand, soaking in and getting right to work imparting plumping moisture, pretty sheen and uber softness. I was highly impressed with how fleecy and cashmere soft this made my hair, which is why it actually made it to my Leave-In list.

With this, beloved readers, it behooves you to only use what you need or you will have soft, shiny, slimy curls that take several hours to dry.

At $10, this’ll get pricey for me once I pass the 6″ mark which is why this is at the bottom of my leave-in is -for price alone, not quality.

This rinses cleanly, but I’d advise washing once a week at least (if you don’t use any other products or silicone heavy products in conjunction with this in your regimen).

I also appreciated its very subtle, slightly sweet and creamy citrus scent. Personally, I HATE citrus. When I write “appreciate” the scent, I mean it was subtle enough that I could ignore it. It DOES linger. It’s not unpleasant or strong…I just cannot stand citrus scents.

The fine-haired may find this is terribly heavy. The upside is that, as it rinses so cleanly, “a little dab of this will do you” for laying down edges for sleek looks relaxed (use a scarf) or braidouts (relaxed or natural).

Thick haired ladies, your hair will appreciate the moisture-kiss this’ll impart relaxed and natural alike.

This serves a variety of uses:

Taming fly-aways

Braid-out medium

Baggy aid

Laying down edges over night with a scarf

Keeping puffs and Wash n Goes flawless

I must give a warning about this product however:

IT DOES NOT PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS. Mixing it, even with the gel that is from this brand results in little ELMER’S GLUE LIKE GLOBULES up and down the ENTIRE length of your hair strand. You will need a CLARIFYING poo to remove them.

I speak from experience.

Beloved readers, this would not be a Little Golden Lamb review if I didn’t whine…er…comment…on the packaging.

It’s very chic. ^_^

The shape, font, clean layout, well placed graphics and simple color scheme get the point across. The nice skinny flip top is well adorned with a raised, silver-trimmed leaf design. I would prefer a push tab. Also, the plastic it is made of makes squeezing out the last half of the product torturous. Add to that a design that cannot be inverted and you’ll be working for the last bit.

Thankfully…it is absolutely worth it. ^_^

It’s Assassin’s Creed II week! I have to hand it to Ubisoft for their promotion for this game. They haven’t bombarded us with so many videos that I feel I’ve seen half the game like so many publishers do these days, but they have given us a very impressive prologue to the story in the form of Lineage, a thirty-six minute short film produced by Ubisoft themselves and released freely in three parts via YouTube. It is said to link very closely with the game, and with the game and film production teams working closely together on assets and the two projects sharing the same lead cast it’s easy to see Lineage as a true part of the series.

While the core idea of using tie-in films to promote a game isn’t unheard of – the feature length animation Dead Space: Downfall comes to mind – I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything on this scale before. To create Lineage, Ubisoft filmed real actors (who were, as mentioned previously, used as models to create their in-game counterparts) in front of green screens and hired Hybride Technologies to export and re-work assets from the game itself to create the world around them. Never heard of Hybride? Neither had I, but I bet you’ve heard of some of their work: 300, Sin City and the upcoming Avatar. As you can see, they’re no stranger to making real people and CG environments mesh together and they’ve done an impressive job here. If this is the first you’ve heard of Lineage, perhaps you’re now starting to get a sense of the scale of the project. Ubisoft have pulled out all the stops here and set a new standard for pre-release videogame promotion.

For anyone unaware of Assassin’s Creed II, the bulk of the game (I won’t get into the dual narrative here, for the sake of simplicity) takes place in Renaissance Italy. The story focusses on a young man named Ezio who is set on the path of revenge by some tragedy. Lineage begins to set up that tragedy (but does not entirely play it out) but instead centres on Ezio’s father, Giovanni, an assassin. Over the three episodes that comprise Lineage’s runtime, conspiracies begin to reveal themselves but are far from unravelled by the end of things. Quite the contrary, it’s clear that Lineage is just the beginning of a larger story to be told within Assassin’s Creed II. To that end, it does an excellent job of drawing you into the world, the characters and their mysteries, but offers little resolution to those who don’t intend to play the game. Consider yourself warned, I suppose.

What should attract viewers beyond prospective players of the game is the impressive visuals and exciting action sequences. The numerous fight scenes are well choreographed and match the flowing combat style of the videogames very well. On all levels, Lineage succeeds in feeling like an extension of the games, completely nailing their aesthetics and intrigue. With Ubisoft taking the reigns on this project rather than completely outsourcing it, they’ve made a bold step into the film industry and I would be surprised if it was their last. Lineage shows that not only do they have the ability to create effective and entertaining films, but that franchises like Assassin’s Creed are prime for making the transition from one medium to the other. Such synergy no doubt benefits from having both projects handled internally by Ubisoft – it’s a production model that’s worked extremely well in recent years for Marvel – and I can’t wait to see just how big their aspirations really are.

Gilberto Matuto que se cuide! Mas, com a atuação do último sábado (14), na partida contra o Vitória (PE), no Mundão, o jogador Giovani mostrou que a vaga na lateral direita tem de ser dele. Mesmo entrando no segundo tempo, a disposição do ala mereceu elogios até do técnico Dado Cavalcanti.

Para o treinador, Giovani foi o único atleta que soube aproveitar a chance no jogo contra o Vitória. Outro ponto considerado positivo, foi o poder ofensivo que a equipe ganhou com a entrada dele.

Apesar dos elogios, Cavalcanti deve ter problemas por ter dado está oportunidade ao atleta – mas calma… Deve ser uma só uma dorzinha de cabeça. Por enquanto, Gilberto Matuto é o dono da camisa dois. Mesmo assim nada impede que o lateral também comece a se preocupar.

Giovani já havia passado pelo tricolor no Brasileiro da Série D. Sem ser aproveitado, deixou o clube. Mas como o bom filho a casa torna, em outubro ele estava de volta ao Arruda. Agora, o jogador já tem esperanças de se tornar titular na equipe. Força Giovani.

Beloved readers, continuing with my month of Giovanni products, today’s review is Giovanni’s Smooth as Silk Conditioner.

I have to say I’m pleased by the Giovanni line. The products do benefit my hair greatly, their scent is not something I would prefer but it is unobtrusive and they are not terribly expensive.

This conditioner is no exception.

It’s pearlescent, creamy, slightly tacky conditioner is not “custard-thick”, but is hardly runny. This has a light saran-wrap meets fresh citrus scent. I know that may sound unappealing, but it is not overpowering and while it lingers it does so in a very muted fashion. It translates to “fresh, bright and clean” in the hair.

This spreads easily, though I needed a copious amount to properly cover my dense, thick-stranded TWA. What I love is that once you work it into you hair it coats every strand, root to tip. My hair felted coated, yes, when I used this, but in a that left my curls and coils saying: “I’m so happy and full of moisture! Look how fat and shiny I am! Bwaha!”

Yes.

That’s exactly what they said. ^_^

Moving on…!

Adding a bit of water to this turned into a froth that was beneficial for finger combing, though one needs to proceed with caution if using this with a wide-toothed comb. It’s not a “melt-tangles like butter” conditioner.

This rinsed away cleanly, leaving me without build up, which I greatly appreciated.

My scalp felt moisturized and relaxed as well.

How did my hair feel?

Soft, fleecy, heavy and cashmere soft.

I don’t ask my (natural) hair to feel silky. It’s not in its nature…no matter how much the media tells me EVERYONE’S hair should feel, to be “truly healthy”.

However, when at its healthiest it feels EXACTLY LIKE EXPENSIVE CASHMERE.

THAT is the standard I hold it to and this conditioner helps me maintain that. ^_^

This is possible, not doubt, because of its fantastic ingredient list:

What I LOVE about this conditioner is that is has several oils in it. What I dislike is how they are misleadingly represented here. This conditioner is not terribly oily, or unstable as it would be if oil made up the percentage of the product this listing suggests (I’m on to you Giovanni!). That said, there is plenty enough in it and the cetyl alcohol and steralkonium Chloride keep my mane in check. ^_^

Natural ladies, this is a great co-wash conditioner and vehicle for protein treatments (by adding neutral protein filler or Aphogee Two Step, both of which I’ve reviewed). This can also be used as a leave-in for the thick-haired. I used it with good results (it can be dulling if applied with a heavy hand). It’s best applied to damp hair (20% wet, 80% dry for this little, golden lamb).

Texlaxed ladies, this’ll help keep your chemically altered tresses moist. I say the same for the bone-strait set as well. Though for bone-strait ladies, this may not have enough protein (even with the soy protein in it) to keep your strands moist AND strong.

Fine haired ladies of all textures: You may find this a bit heavy. Be sure to rinse well and perhaps alternate it with a lighter co-wash if needed or whip this out for the cold months. ^_^

Ever since I first saw Giovanni Colorflage pop up in stores—which seems like a lifetime ago, now—I wanted to try it. I love haircare products geared towards specific hair colors. But I couldn’t try it, because only the shampoos were on the shelves.

A lot of time has passed and nothing’s changed. Every store I go to that stocks Giovanni Colorflage only stocks the shampoos. I have never seen the conditioners in the flesh. There are no spots for the conditioners, no price tags; it’s like only the shampoos exist.

This makes no sense to me. If I was going to only buy one half of the two-piece set, I’d buy the conditioner and keep using shikakai paste in place of shampoo. I’d never buy just the shampoo. The conditioner is the one that will deposit the awesome protective ingredients on my hair.

I really want to try Giovanni Colorflage Remarkably Red Shampoo and Conditioner, but not so much that I’m going to go through the hassle of ordering it online.

I considered using Giovanni Colorflage Remarkably Red Shampoo with John Frieda Radiant Red Conditioner, but I haven’t been able to find John Frieda Radiant Red Shampoos and Conditioners in stores lately.

Unable to buy the products I really wanted to try, I bought mirra Daily Color Care Shampoo and Conditioner yesterday.

So, Giovanni lost my business because the Colorflage Daily Color Defense Conditioner isn’t being stocked, and John Frieda lost my business because their Radiant Red Shampoos and Conditioners aren’t being stocked. Meanwhile, Kroger mirra Daily Shampoos and Conditioners are on sale for $4.49 (originally $5.99) each and are actually in Kroger stores so that I can buy them.

Giovanni Colorflage Shampoos and Conditioners may be the best things since canned bread, but I’ll never find out if the conditioners don’t show up at Target.

Hmmm, I wonder how much business Giovanni and John Frieda have lost because some of their products are nowhere to be found…
