遠くても feat.WISE is Kana’s 5th single release. GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN is a cover of the famous song by Cyndi Lauper.

遠くても feat.WISE is an all-out R&B song. Kana sounds fabulous. Like as if this genre was meant for her voice. WISE is alright in this song, I hate how he has to introduce himself in the beginning of the song XD Please be like KEN THE 390 and stop introducing yourself.  The instrumentation has this really pretty piano playing that I really like. There is one part where Kana semi-belts, which sounds nice :3 This is a very nice song, and very catchy btw.

I ADORE the beginning of GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN in this version. Specially when that instrumentation comes in after Kana sings the title out. The rapper is random though (unless it is WISE rapping for her again). But a pretty damn good cover (: I mainly like the instrumentation xD

Saturday☆Night feat.GIORGIO 13 sounds like 70’s disco stuff xD Freaking love it. Kana’s voice is full of energy and it makes you want to dance, not fall asleep (*cough*alan*cough*). The rapper is a bit more husky sounding than WISE xD Which I don’t know if that’s a good thing or bad thing. This is a pretty amazing song =DD

遠くても feat.WISE was such an amazing single <3 Kana ditched the cute pop and cute vocals for more of a mature tone and R&B sound. I really like it.

Non credo a quello che ho visto. Stavo girovagando su youtube per cercare il prossimo video da proporvi e ho scoperto che Miley Cyrus, l’ Hanna Montana idolo degli adolescenti ha rifatto la mitica canzone di Cindy Lauper, Girls Just Want to Have Fun. Sono rimasto allibbito quando l’ho visto!
Comunque, adesso avrete capito che il prossimo video è proprio Girls Just Want to Have Fun. Siamo nei favolosi anni ‘80, con precisione nel 1983. Dalla sua canzone è stato poi tratto un film nel 1987

You cannot forget Lou Albano, I remember him back when I was a child, Lou was very good friends with my father “Frank D’Amico Sr.”  Lou use to come to our house in the Bronx with my dad. Lou use to get on his hands and knees and give us kids horsey back rides on his back, we had so much fun with him, and there was always lots of laughter when Lou Albano was around.

My dad use to hangout with Lou and he use to take me and my brother with him to Lou’s bar on Provost Ave, it was a little hole in the wall place, but it was a great place for us kids to have some fun back then.

Lou use to cook muscles for all the guys, and one day the wrestler Bruno Sammartino came down to the bar and he played the piano for everybody with me sitting on his lap. I will never forget those special moments in my life. My dad loved his friend Lou Albano and Lou Albano loved my dad, they were good friends in the 60’s.

Cyndi Lauper credits Lou Albano for bringing her song to the Top Of The Charts “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”  Captain Lou played her dad in the music video in the 80’s. The music video “link” above can only be seen on YOUTUBE just in case you wanna watch the video.

Captain Lou Albano is gone but he’ll never be forgotten, he was 76-years-old when he died at his home in Carmel, New York with his loving family and wife Geraldine of 56-years by his side.   Lou Albano was suffering from heart complications from a recent illness.  For Funeral Details or more information.

I’d just like a moment of silence from everyone for Capt Lou Albano who passed away, today, October 4, 2009. Not only was he a wrestling legend, but such a sweet dude that its not even funny. I had the pleasure of working a convention with him. Him and the sandman and their family took my daughter in like she was with him. Here’s to you Lou: You entertained us all, you’ll always be legend…a part of wrestling history forever..you rock.

  Women are the strangest creatures the way they fly around. Myself included and I am unlike other women. Soft, yet hard to understand, something fit to be placed on Mohs scale of mineral hardness. Chalk to diamonds. Ashes to ashes. Dust to dust. We all fall down.

   Monday set out some frames and fabric to fulfill request on Craigslist. When I returned home from swimming, the wanted objects had been picked up and it was a fabulous feeling to have met someone’s need. If only everything else were so simple.

   This drawing began as the leaf I found and 13 for the day and ten for the month. “Of ten.” To add an ess and Soften it made all the ramifications possible. A heron flew over the creek and not far from the cuckoo’s nest.

In 1984 I heard some of the most life shaping words, “Girls just want to have fun,” when Cyndi Lauper danced across my parents’ television with orange hair and a flare for wild fashion.  I was at the tender age of three and danced along with her in my mom’s heels, a leotard, sunglasses, and panties with ruffles on the butt while drinking juice from a wine glass.  I was not your typical child and I was learning not from PBS but from MTV.  The lesson I was learning was a simple one: girls just want to have fun.  And I was having fun.  I was “working” half days at preschool, going shopping with my mom, and taking my favorite stuffed animals with me wherever I went. 

I was a shoe girl from the start, requesting a pair of patent leather Mary Jane’s in every color as soon as I could speak.  By the time my baby teeth were falling out I had moved past the tooth fairy and started negotiating new Jelly shoes and other fashionable items that cost more than a quarter in exchange for a front tooth.  My poor mom was once told by my ballet instructor that I should be put in dance class with some faster moves…I was shaking my butt too much for the music that accompanied the graceful non-bouncing dance style.  It was a bad sign of things to come in my future.

More than two decades later not much has changed.  Cyndi Lauper is on my MP3 player and I still have ruffles on my butt; only now I am in my own heels and I drink wine from those elegant glasses.  I still try to negotiate shopping trips from my dad, although his resistance has grown stronger.  I am pretty sure I can still re-enact any Madonna video from the 80’s.  And I can still say I am having fun. 

To me it all seems pretty clear cut what most girls and I want out of life.  We want to have fun.  We want to shake our butts a little.  We want to wear lacy socks and actually I am kind of hoping the lacy headband bow comes back.  I know I cannot speak for every female, but I am sure most would agree it is just that simple.  Girls just want to have fun.

As basic as it seems, I still find myself banging my head against the figurative wall when it comes to getting guys to understand this simple notion.  Yes, there are very complicated women out there screwing it up for the rest of us, but sometimes I think men are making it harder than it has to be.  Look at the guy who said, “He’s just not that into you.”  Simple, right?  Wrong.  It must be more complicated because he has written a book, had a television talk show, and even a movie spun out of it!  I say honest things all day long and all I get is an understanding smile. 

So let me break it down for all of the guys out there who are convinced that dating has to be difficult.  Just let her have fun.   There!  It’s that simple, not even enough for a movie trailer let alone a full-length feature.  

Perhaps I should expand slightly.   I do not need fancy dinners or events; in fact, that can be kind of boring and put too much pressure on anyone to “fit in” or be equally fancy.  Sitting in a silent restaurant with the sinking suspicion that the servers are listening in to our conversation kills the romance quickly.  As a girl who over dresses for every event, I have just as much fun dressing up for the bar as I do for an over-the-top display.    Seriously, take me and my heels out to the bar any night of the week.  Not the fancy one, the one with a barrel full of peanuts and a popcorn machine with a questionable history of cleanliness.  I want to sit at the bar and play the jukebox or at least be able to bribe the bartender to turn the radio to my favorite station.  Give me a long neck bottle so I can peel off the label.  I do not want to pair wines with a main course or eat a four-course meal that consists of two slices of tomato and a piece of cheese.  I am hungry; feed me real food! 

The truth of the situation is that every girl likes a night where she is treated like a princess and made to feel like a lady, but those nights are not reality.  Living in fantasies can only last so long and often leaves you wanting to get back to a more down-to-earth style of life.  The reality is that, like everyone else, a girl needs to relax sometimes and just be part of the crowd.  She wants to toss peanut shells on the floor and maybe even play a game of dice.  She just wants to have fun.

After all, Cyndi Lauper may have summed it up best when she said, “Some boys take a beautiful girl and hide her away from the rest of the world.  I want to be the one to walk in the sun.  Girls they want to have fun.”  Hey, we are all at our best when surrounded by friends.  I may only be a star with my friends but it’s where I shine the brightest because I can truly be myself and have fun.  Any guy who wants this shoe girl can not be afraid to share my world and hopefully walk in the sun with me.

At the end of the day I am still the girl dancing in high heels who shakes her butt a little too much.  But at least I am finding what I want and that is to have fun.  And it truly is just that simple.

I cringe, in fact I actually turn away, during moments in movies or shows when people make fools of themselves. Prime examples include when Janey and Jeff first met in Girls Just Want to Have Fun, when Derek thought he won Male Model of the Year in Zoolander, and every interaction between Codex and Zaboo in The Guild. That is why it is so hard for me to admit what I’m going to write right now: I was a week off with my GRE test date. I couldn’t deceive my many blog readers (all three of you. Hi friends!), but I really wanted to. Thankfully, the date is a week off in my favor–next Saturday is the test. I have a somewhat legitimate reason to have been confused, but that doesn’t change how embarrassed I am. I want to flee the scene when I think about it because I feel like I’m the kid wearing the dunce cap in the corner of the one-room school house. Or maybe like Seth when Becca finds his dick drawings in Superbad. Either way, it’s not good and I can’t look away because it’s my bad moment. I lay myself at your feet and beg of you to overlook this distressing admission of mine.

(Although this might be for the best. Now I just want the damn thing over with. I’m tired of dreaming the definitions of insidious and invidious and perspicacious. And I’m getting entirely too much sleep.)

Wow, someone was bored while drinking a lot of beer.  I hear that you have to pull the tabs off before recycling…………..or is that before drinking??????

This is one good way to save money to buy more beverages…….or to justify drinking from a can.

Nothing says September like blue jeans and football!!!

Do you remember making purses out of your old blue jeans in Middle School Home Economics?  I do…………however, I did go to scool in the South.

There is a lady on Ebay that custom makes these purses for your favorite team, Harley, camo guy or whatever your preference.  Please look for her.  Do you think a beverage can could fit in the pocket? 

If I used my old size 26 jeans for a purse, I sure could smuggle a lot of goodies into the game!

Dolly Partons Purse of Many Colors!!

I am not sure if it’s Shabby Chic or Victorian Granny.  It’s just too special not to share.  I want to carry it to a Tennessee Baptist Church Fried Chicken Social.  I want a matching big hat!!!

My birth mom and birth aunt are Texans.  They both appreciate individuality, antiques, collecting, dolls and fun design!   Somehow Enid gives me a connection.

I found this link for a book on the history and photos of Enid Collins purses.  Enid was a prolific Texas designer with 100’s of designs in the 60’s and 70’s. I love her bags for the glitz, glamor and humor.

My daughter will never know the torture of holding one of these on her lap in an un-airconditioned school bus on a humid day.  I give  much praise to the person who invented the waterproof fabric school backpacks of today!!!

SPECIAL: Everybody Hurts

This week was an awesome week. Plain and simple the worship just ROCKED. What was great was that everyone was so intensely worshiping at one point that all of us singers we able to just pull away and let the congregation lead (during Mighty to Save). I gotta admit, that was one of the most power moments of worship I have ever had at United since I have been there. I look forward to the day that intense worship experiences like this Sundays are the NORM not the exception.

I thought the 80’s medley this week went amazingly well! The song choices were hilarious and our Associate Pastor Gilbert Thurston even tried his chops at rapping The Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff’s Parents Just Don’t Understand! Needless to say, the crowd absolutely LOVED it. Here is the medley arrangement below:

According to the Ausiello Files, the Fox Network might be planning a crossover event between “Bones” and “Lie to Me”. I think this is a clever idea. “Bones” will be heading into its 5th season while “Lie to Me” will start its 2nd season this Fall. What a great way to add ratings to both shows!

If you could concoct a crossover event (with Fox shows), what would it be? I think it would be interesting to work in “American Idol” with “Glee”. In Season 3 of “Bones”, former Idol contestant Ace Young, had a guest spot on the show. The episode title was “The Wannabe in the Weeds”, where Young played an aspiring singer. It was “American Idol” meets “Bones”, a pseudo crossover event if you will. At the end of the episode, Emily Deschanel who plays Dr. Temperance Brennan on “Bones”, sings “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper.

Hula Hoop o Hula Hula

El hula hoop o hula-hula es un juguete en forma de aro que fomenta la actividad física. Hoy se fabrica a menudo de plástico y se gira alrededor de la cintura o de otro miembro del cuerpo como brazos o piernas.

Los aros fueron inventados en Egipto hace alrededor de 3.000 años. En la antigua Grecia su uso fue recomendado para perder peso. En el siglo XIV, el hooping era popular en Inglaterra y los médicos lo culparon de ataques al corazón y dislocaciones de espalda. La palabra hula fue agregada a comienzos del siglo XVIII cuando los marineros que visitaron Hawaii notaron la semejanza entre el hula que se bailaba y el hooping.

En 1957, el hula hoop fue reinventado por Richard Knerr y Arthur “Spud” Melin, que habían fundado la compañía llamada Wham-O en un garage de Los Angeles en 1948 para comercializar el lanzador Wham-O (inventado originalmente para lanzar trozos de carne al aire, un dispositivo de entrenamiento para los halcones).
