What is it? and also does it differ from boys to girls? yeah i think so..

Guys in Jordan dream of many things:
1- Cool gf while in school that he wouldnt mind shower her with gifts and mobile prepaid cards.
2- cool car to brag among his friends.
3- good job that never comes and the one they find sucks their blood and preferably in the gulf. aka Dubai.
4- Marriage, although he knows it will suck the hell out of him but he’s happy somehow. because his mother won’t nag anymore, his dad would think his son became a man, finally! and sex. then all his dreams come to an end!! a black end.
5- The ultimate dream, that would be a perfect substitute for all the above is to move out of Jordan. Having the Jordanian dream somewhere else. aka USA!
most of guys dream or “don’t mind” the American citizenship. especially teenagers and a little older than teens. “bedna nfee3!! bedna nshoof el denya!! bedna masare!!” anyway, they have a point i think.. what they gonna do here? fight with the routine?

Girls dreams are way easier and simpler!!
1- good grades n good school
2- fix herself a rich boy so he can get her gifts to brag among her friends.
3- getting engaged just to wake up and see a ring in her finger!
4- get married in a fancy hotel hall.. fancy car.. fancy home and stupid husband!
5- ultimate dream is having a happy marriage! a fairy-tale!! well, there is a happy marriage i think, when one realize that there’s also downs just like there are ups. which is not the topic here..

Of course this is not all… some have other dreams too.. like dreaming at night :p nah.. you know what i mean..

So last Friday was my lucky day: I bought a sweet my-size bike (with a kryptonite lock) for $30, went to lunch with a good friend, spent the entire afternoon at the De Young Museum, reading and drinking coffee (and later beer) at the Bean Bag Cafe, and THEN, my boss gave me her guest list tickets to see GIRLS at the Swedish American Music Hall last Friday.

The door person definitely gave me a hard time, but we still got in. The Swedish American Music Hall is the kind of place you want to eat meatballs in, or at least that is how I felt. Just sit down on picnic tables and have that kind of hearty, homemade meal. It is like a community center where you expect to see a recital, not a band perform.

The performance was super intimate, like we had walked into someone else’s living room, where a bunch of friends (who happen to all play instruments) were having a communal jam. This saved the melodrama from being too ridiculous, that and also the fact that Christopher Owens IS melodrama, and who wouldn’t be if he/she were raised in a cult?

I couldn’t help but look on his myspace for an ‘about me’ that could really illustrate this, and look I found it:

Confused, frustrated, manic, depressed, head like a hole, black as your soul, i’d rather die then give you control.

But really, although his lyrics, voice, and the way he kind of folded his body over and into his guitar on poignant chords all made me want to hold some one’s hand or throw up or be depressed, they sounded fantastic.

so give them a listen!!!

Lesson

Part 1 – Introduction

Do you remember Saul, the first king of Israel? Saul had been jealous of David and had tried to kill him. Saul and three of his sons died in a battle with the Philistines. One of these sons was David’s good friend Jonathan.

Jonathan had a 5-year-old son named Mephibosheth [MEH-FIB'-AH-SHETH] at the time. When his babysitter [Hebrew: אָמַן] heard that Saul and Jonathan had died in battle, she picked up little Mephibosheth to run with him, but she accidentally dropped him. His feet were badly hurt.

Part 2 – David Desires to Show Kindness to Saul’s Family

About 10 years later [add the numbers in 2 Samuel 2:10-11], David was finally king over all the land of Israel, but David remembered the promise of friendship that he had made with Jonathan. We can read in the Bible where Jonathan said to David, “Do not ever cut off your kindness from my family.” This is found in the 20th chapter of 1 Samuel.

Remembering Jonathan, David asked his people if there was anyone still alive in Saul’s family to whom he could show kindness. The people found a servant from Saul’s family named Ziba [ZĪ'-BAH], and they brought him to king David.

Ziba told the king that one of Jonathan’s sons, named Mephibosheth, was still alive, and living in a place called Lo-Debar. Lo-Debar [on map] was across the river from Mephibosheth’s former home in Saul’s territory. Mephibosheth had most likely been transported to Lo-Debar because the followers of the defeated king Saul feared an attack from David’s army.

Part 3 – Mephibosheth meets King David

King David told his servants to bring Mephibosheth to his palace in Jerusalem. Mephibosheth was about 15 years old at this time, and king David was 30 years old.

many archaeologists believe this is the site of david's palace in Jerusalem

Mephibosheth bowed down when he came before the king in Jerusalem. David said Mephibosheth’s name, and Mephibosheth answered, “Here is your servant.”

Facing a powerful king can be frightening. Mephibosheth probably knew that his grandfather Saul had been David’s enemy; this would make Mephibosheth even more scared when David called for him. But David told Mephibosheth to not be afraid.

Part 4 – The King’s Promise to Mephibosheth

David told Mephibosheth that he would be kind to him, because of Mephibosheth’s father Jonathan. David promised two things to the teenager:

That he would get all the land that his grandfather Saul had previously owned; and

That he would always eat bread at the king’s table.

Mephibosheth bowed before the king again, and said, “What is your servant, that you should notice a dead dog like me?” Mephibosheth knew that David could have hated him, and even killed him.

Part 5 – King David’s Commands to Ziba

David also spoke to the servant Ziba, telling him that everything Saul had owned now belonged to Mephibosheth. He ordered Ziba to look after all of Mephibosheth’s land. Ziba had 15 sons and 20 servants, and king David told Ziba that all of them must work in this land as farmers, and give everything to Mephibosheth.

David reminded Ziba that the previous king, Saul, had been Ziba’s master, and that Saul’s grandson Mephibosheth would now be eating at David’s table in the palace at Jerusalem.

Ziba answered the king, saying, “Your servant will do whatever my lord the king commands his servant to do.”

Part 6 – David Treats Mephibosheth Like a Son

Keeping his promise, David made sure that Mephibosheth ate at the king’s table. David treated Mephibosheth like one of his own sons. The hiding orphan boy had become like a prince, because of the love and kindness of the mighty king in Israel.

Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem where David’s palace was, even until he was a grown man with a family.

Part 7 – An Even Better Story – God’s Kindness

Remember when we talked about shadows? A shadow looks a bit like the real thing, but it is not the real thing.

The story about king David’s kindness to Mephibosheth helps us to understand God’s kindness. In the Bible, God said, “I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.” [Exodus 33:19; Romans 9:14]

Nobody deserves God’s kindness except His son Jesus. But God shows kindness to people when He wants to [Romans 9:18]. Just like Mephibosheth, we cannot buy God’s kindness with money or by working hard; we also cannot pay God back when He is kind to us. God already has everything that He needs, and everything that we have is already His. Unless God shows kindness to us, we are crippled and hiding, just like Mephibosheth was.

We already know that God is being kind to us, because we are here reading His Bible and learning about Him. This is better than eating food or having a nice car.

God will treat His adopted children like great princes and princesses. He will be kind and loving to them, just as He is to His son Jesus.

Part 8 – Our Answer to God’s Kindness

We are not on this earth to do what we want to do. Jesus bought us, and He owns us. Apostle Paul, a joyful servant of Jesus Christ, wrote that we “were bought at a price,” and so we should not “become slaves of men” [1 Corinthians 7:23].

This is very good. Jesus is the perfect Master. Having any other master will only bring trouble for us. We have all had other masters, and they have not loved us or been kind to us.

When people are slaves to their own heart, they do evil things. When people are slaves to money, they try to get as much money as they can. Some of them even do get lots of money, but they do not have any treasure in heaven. Our money will become somebody else’s money when we die. Everything that we buy on this earth will end up rotting or rusting away. But nobody can steal treasure that we have in heaven. Jesus said, “Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal” [Matthew 6:20].

I REALLY DON’T LIKE YOU because you put me into fear of paralysis and wheelchair aerobics to the tune of Richard Simons for the rest of my existence and THANK YOU because you gave me one of the 3rd biggest wake up calls of my life……

How much time have I spent past and present obsessing over the imperfections of my body? Way too much. How much time have I argued that if only I ran 6 miles a day and not just 3, my life would be so much better? Insanely too much. How often have I been thankful that all of my limbs work and are fully functioning? Not enough. How often do I thank God for making me a healthy, beautiful woman who can go get any job and travel anywhere in the world without physical hesitations? Never…until today.

When I saw the crosswalk sign flash the little blue person walking I didn’t look both ways I simply, arrogantly ran. Taking for granted that not only could I walk, but I could run and that given the present space and time I was fully desrving of running and not getting hit by a car or a truck for that matter. But, that truck came so close to me that I just froze as it halted just a foot away from my whole body. I was smack dab in front of it. How lucky am I that I wasn’t hit? How lucky am I that I writing this blog without a scratch on my body. So lucky. Sooo sooo sooo lucky!

Today, I am grateful that that truck almost hit me because it has put my body into a new perspective to me. All day I have seen my hands typing, making art, picking up a child, hugging a friend, I have seen my feet walk to my car to go buy my favorite Pumpkin Spice Latte and hold the arm of a little girl while her Dad and I swing her in the air on 1…2….3!!!!! I’m grateful for my body just the way it is today…healthy. It’s my goal to accept my body just the way it is….beautiful, healthy and perfect in this very moment.

Thank you again little old man with “Big Truck Syndrome” you gave me a gift by almost mauling me into Dover Drive….the gift of “Gratitude for the moment.” Thank you..thank you…thank you…

Obama joins Saints quarterback Brees, Steelers safety Polamalu and Cowboys linebacker Ware in a special public service announcement debuting during each of the three NFL games played on Thanksgiving.

The 90-second PSA is a joint effort of the NFL’s PLAY 60 campaign, a league-wide effort to fight childhood obesity by getting kids active for 60 minutes a day, and United We Serve, the president’s initiative encouraging all Americans to participate in community service.

The spot will continue airing throughout the rest of the season in a shorter format.

“Through United We Serve, I have challenged all Americans to roll up their sleeves and engage in sustained service to strengthen our communities,” the president said. “For some of us that means volunteering at a soup kitchen or cleaning up a local park. For others, it means taking time to build a playground or volunteering your time to improve the life of a child.“

This holiday season, I am asking all Americans to find their own way to give back to their communities.”

The Saints’ Brees, who has been a national spokesman for the PLAY 60 campaign for the past two years, said, “We had about 25 minutes and did three different takes. I threw him a couple of passes. He was wearing his Chicago Bears jacket, so there was some ribbing about that.“

“Thanksgiving is a time when families come together, and it is also a perfect time to focus on the importance of keeping kids healthy and active,” Brees said. “I was honored to spend time with the president on an issue that is clearly important to him. I was also impressed by his wide receiver skills.”

American Girl is a bimonthly, four-color magazine for girls ages 8 and up. American Girl readers are girls in the formative years, girls who dream big dreams. We hope to encourage that dreaming and to reinforce each reader’s self-confidence, curiosity, and self-esteem as she
prepares to navigate adolescence in the years ahead. Our lead time is approximately six to nine months.

Fiction
We’re looking for contemporary fiction up to 2,300 words. The protagonist should be a girl between 8 and 12 who captures the hopes, thoughts, and emotions unique to that precarious age between childhood and teenager. We look for top quality writing and thoughtfully
developed characters and plots. Stories should engage readers quickly and have a satisfying conclusion. We are always looking for humor and seasonal stories. We don’t publish science fiction, romance, or horror stories.

Nonfiction
We’re looking for individual girls or groups who are doing something other girls would love to read and learn about. Find a topic about which girls are passionate. Past pieces have featured synchronized swimmers, rhythmic gymnasts, ballerinas, and girl bands. Some of our most successful pieces are sports-related, but that doesn’t mean we won’t consider other contemporary topics or profiles. Look for new twists on familiar topics. Please send queries rather than finished manuscripts.

Girls Express
This section offers the most opportunities for freelance writers. We’re looking for short profiles of girls who are into sports, the arts, interesting hobbies, cultural activities, and other areas. We are also looking for true stories about girls who have had unusual experiences. The girl must be the “star” and the story must be from her point of view. Be sure to include the age of the girls you’re pitching to us. Let us know if you have any photo leads. We also welcome how-to
stories: how to send away for free things, hot ideas for a cold day, or how to write the President and get a response. Stories should be no more than 150 words. In addition, we’re looking for easy crafts and recipes that can be explained in a few simple steps, ideas for contests, and current products and trends for girls to review.

Craft and Cooking
We welcome original craft and cooking ideas that are new and exciting to our readers. Projects should require limited parental involvement and supplies should be inexpensive and readily available. Keep in mind the skill level of our readers. Safety is a priority. Query with a short
explanation of the project and an example, photograph, or sketch.

Brain Waves
We’re looking for visual puzzles, mazes, math puzzles, word games, simple crosswords, cartoons, and other ideas. Seasonal ideas are especially welcome.

Sample Issues
American Girl costs $4.95 per issue at the newsstand and is available in many children’s bookstores. To get a sample copy, send a check for $5.95 made out to American Girl. Please include your mailing address.

Payment: $500 minimum for stories; $300 minimum for articles

Rights: FNASR (first North American serial rights)

How to Submit
All queries and requests for sample magazines should be addressed to:
Magazine Department Assistant
American Girl
8400 Fairway Place
Middleton, WI 53562-2554

Please Note
American Girl cannot reply or return a manuscript unless you enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope. Please allow 12 weeks for a reply.

It had been almost over a year since i wrote my article about Hollister, but yet i still had the job

It had been almost over a year since i wrote my article about Hollister, but yet i still had the job.

I did not seem to mind anymore. I continued the tradition of swallowing my pride, but no longer did I care about my discount, my job became an important social aspect of my life.

Oh yes, this was until we got the new boss.

Everyone knows what it’s like getting a new boss. He or she will either be a pushover or a complete toolbag. For me, it always seems to be the latter.

His name was Derek. He was a large man who barely fit into the company’s clothing. This was because he spent most of his life at the gym. I think by spending so much time sculpting his guns he may have constricted a few too many blood vessels.

He seemed to have been pointing out flaws in everyone’s work and letting us go unappreciated for the hours we were putting in.Luckily for me, he hadn’t found a flaw yet.

I think this panicked him. So for my final month working, he stalked me. Hid behind plants, lurked quietly in the corner, watching, waiting for me to screw up. And then I did.

A woman old enough to George Burn’s mother walked into our store. I was not about to berate this woman with the company’s tagline “Hey, what’ up?” It would have only have confused her, and I did not feel like giving this woman a cerebral aneurysm by explaining it.

"My mother was a saint!"

So I said “Hi, how are you doing today?!”

Big fucking mistake.

According to my manager, being hip and cool out weighs friendly and polite. No more could i work for this man, so I wrote him this letter

“Dear Derek,

If you don’t know by now, I don’t enjoy my job. If you haven’t noticed, it’s because you’re completely devoid of human emotion.

I started this job with high hopes. I thought working here would be a relaxed environment; my oh my how naïve I was.

I soon was whisked into a world of mass consumerism and materialism that I couldn’t have begun to fathom before I started working here. For instance: the company’s idea of model standards.

I’m not an idiot; I can hear your conference calls. I heard Chelsea complaining about our model’s not wearing enough plaid. I heard the other managers talking about their new recruitments. “I think she’s really cute, she’d be great” or “I don’t like him, especially after he shaved his head.”

How about this, who gives a fuck?

It wasn’t until recently that I realized this, I’ve known this forever. If you didn’t know I’ve been with the company longer than you have, so for me to only notice this now would be absurd.

The last string was pulled earlier this week. According to anonymous sources at the manager meeting, the managers, you believe that we are stressed out because of the company’s instance for us to wear plaid.

^Way too stressed out

I’m tired of making witty comments and transfusing them with sarcasm, so I’m just going to be blunt. It’s not the plaid; it’s you.

By hearing this quote I realized there is no getting through to you. You have no idea of how other human beings think or act. It’s the only explanation

You’re like a robot.

But it doesn’t matter, because you don’t. I can think of a long list of things that are more important than Hollister’s and your impact in the world including Atkins, contact lenses, snuggies, antiperspirant deodorant, Go-gurt, crystal meth, red states, socialism, Hayden Panterrie, that funny asian guy off of Knocked Up, construction paper, Bonanza, barracudas, cheap cologne, and George Clooney.

So I’m going to go back to my life of yager bombs and happiness and you can go back to yours of snorting testosterone and So Cal.

Yours truly,

Mario

PS: PULL UP YOUR FUCKING PANTS!!!!!!! “

I hope I made my point.
