But, before I tell you who it is . . . I have a received a few more questions from folks that I need to answer.

The 1951 Quilt is a mystery quilt, so there is no picture.

If you choose your fabrics according to this post here: Choosing Fabrics, and by looking at what others have chosen so far on the Flickr Group, then you should be OK.

If you simply cannot abide not knowing what the quilt will look like ahead of time, you can wait and join the Quilt-Along later in the year, because I will be posting pictures of the parts we get finished as we go along, which is at the rate of about one block per month.

You do not have to check the blog every day. If you check in only once a week or once a month, that is up to you. The instructions will still be there, and the Quilt-Along will be moving slowly enough that you can keep up easily, no matter how often you check in. Just go to the date you last left off, and pick up from there to continue.

As of right now, you are not behind, because the Quilt-Along doesn’t actually begin until January 1, 2010. All posts up to this point have been only to keep you informed, get you ready, and introduce you to some of what you’ll be reading about when it does start.

You can check the FAQ category for other detailed information to help you choose fabrics and get started. And as always, if you have any questions that you can’t seem to find the answer to, please leave a comment with your question, or email me at: shelly@prairiemoonquilts.com and just ask!

Now I know this seems hideously contrived . . . Wessal is my very own daughter . . . but I swear the drawing was fair — and since she is a Quilt-Alonger, it doesn’t seem fair to exclude her from the drawing just because of that. (Ever since she was little bitty, she’s been lucky in drawings like that — I should have known I’d draw her name!) And, furthermore, I happen to know that she is in need of a rotary cutter, since her Quilt-Along quilt is going to be her first project ever — she wants to do it in honor of her grandmother, Hazel, and I’m thrilled to finally have a child who might be interested in keeping the quilting tradition alive in our family when I’m gone, so . . . Congratulations, Wessal! I’m glad you’re playing along! (and I hope you haven’t gone out and purchased a rotary cutter yet!)

The first of many I hope to have throughout the Quilt-Along . . .

This give-away is for a Martelli Rotary Cutter.

There are three ways to enter:

1) If you’ve let me know that you will be participating, and you’re in one of the lists at right, you’re automatically entered one time. If you haven’t yet let me know, you can do so now, and I’ll add you to the list at right, and you’ll be entered one time.

2) If you post a picture of your chosen fabrics for the Quilt-Along Quilt in the Flickr Group, you’ll get a second entry. The link to the Flickr Group is at right. All you have to do is join the group and upload your photos.

3) If you have a blog or web site, and use the ad button on your blog or site to help advertise the Quilt-Along, you’ll get a third entry. If you don’t have a blog, you can comment on this post to qualify for a third entry.

The give-away period begins now, and entries will be gathered until noon (CST) on December 21, 2009. Then I’ll use my highly scientific method of drawing a winner from all the entries I’ve gathered (My Cowboy’s pink plastic soup bowl)!

This gives you a little time in case you don’t have your fabrics picked out yet. And if you’re still not ready with your fabrics by then, you can still get an entry or two.
