Giveaway of the day and Game giveaway of the day are pretty interesting sites wherein they give away a commercial software for free for a period of 24 hours, periodically. The software installers are encapsulated within the giveaway of the day software that connects to their servers to check the validity of the giveaway period. One of the limitations of this software is that it does not work behind authenticated proxies, i.e., proxies wherein you need to enter your userid/password to access the internet (quite common in education institutions).

It seems to use the “Internet Option” settings of Internet Explorer to detect the connection settings. So, the simplest way to use the software behind such a proxy is to use a HTTP tunnel client that creates another proxy layer with the userid/password settings already entered. HTTP-Tunnel Client is a useful software in this regard and can be used to serve the purpose (something I had used earlier to make the State software work behind an authenticated proxy). Just follow the instructions to configure the proxy in the software and change the settings in Internet Options.

Once this is done, the installer should run fine and connect to the server without any errors. It may fail the first time, in which case just try once more.

This is a pretty useful workaround and should work for other software that use the Internet Options connection settings, but do not support an authenticated proxy.

Não uma versão gratuita, não uma versão com limitações mas uma versão completa do software.

Como conseguem eles? Simples, estabelecendo parcerias com as empresas produtoras. Elas oferecem a aplicação completa e legal durante um período de tempo (não muito mas depende da empresa) e essa mesma empresa recebe publicidade pois qual a melhor publicidade do que o passa-a-palavra sobre boas experiências.

Bem, o melhor mesmo é começar a receber os feeds para obtermos aplicações completamente grátis e licenciadas. Fica a sugestão.

Quando alguém precisa de um programa apenas uma coisa vem à mente dela: Quem tem o serial. Ou crack, ou keygen. Algumas poucas pessoas pensam se tal programa é free. Menos gente ainda pensa onde vende tal programa. Nesse ponto que vou cutucar.

Na próxima vez que você precisar de um software vale a pena consultar o Giveaway of the Day . Lá é disponibilizado programas de graça. Mas ninguém dá nada de graça! Digo que dá sim. O lado ruim é que o programa só pode ser baixado e instalado num prazo de 24h, ou não.

A grande maioria de produtos são utilitários. Alguns muito úteis, outros nem tanto. As vezes rolam alguns jogos, xadrez, corrida, RPG, nada de Crysis. Programas famosos até agora não vi.

O projeto consegue existir não por causa das empresas que dão as licenças, mas sim pelo pagamento das licenças pelo site.  Contudo não fica claro de onde vem o dinheiro, da Santa Ifigênia é que não é. (Alguém).

Mas o site não é só isso, nele também tem avaliações dos usuários além da enorme lista de programas e suas descrições para futuras consultas.

Há também uma sessão de games e outra para freewares. Essa ultima particularmente me chama atenção. No Linux, mais precisamente em algumas distros,  para pegar um software basta ir no repositório. Já o pessoal do Windows não tem o repositório. Mas com essa lista enorme de programas free e com links para o download, a vida no “Janelas” fica bem mais fácil.

Se você faz softwares, tem uma empresa que faz, você pode mandar seu programa para eles é só entrar em contato para saber detalhes.

As vezes aparece um software não tão bom nem útil, mas vale a pena, principalmente aqueles que querem sair da ilegalidade(eu!).

Chuta o que eles fizeram?

Eles simplesmente trocaram o sistema de proteção dos arquivos por um que vários antivirus acusam de virus e aparentemente ninguém testou antes de liberar. Um pequeno caos que poderia ter sido evitado se um e apenas um único dos mantedores do blog tivesse se dado ao trabalho de testar o programa com um antivirus ou mesmo enviar para o VirusTotal.

O mais engraçado é aquele advertsing: “Giveaway of the day is adware/spyware-free. If you want to check that yourself and keep your system healthy, we recommend Advanced SystemCare package.
Pro and Free versions are available.” (Pelo menos uma coisa boa, já sei que anti-spyware/adware não vou usar, pelo visto não serve para nada.)

Uma coisa chata foi o Avira Free Antivirus abrindo TROCENTAS janelas perguntando o que era para fazer com um virus. Foi quase impossível instalar um software para testar devido ao falso positivo… E o que eu fiz? Olhei o readme.txt, achei um serial, fui baixar do site oficial torcendo para o serial (especial, começava com “gotd-”) funcionar… e funcionou. (Ah, antes que alguém peça o serial, provavelmente ele será desabilitado para registro depois do tempo do Giveawayoftheday.)

Bom, o maior problema foi que o maldito programa não quis funcionar de jeito nenhum. Simplesmente não rodou direito no Windows XP SP3 x86 e nem no Windows Vista Home Premium x64.

O que aconteceu? Deu uma sequencia de crashes, não dava nem para aplicar os modelos pré criados, e quando se criava um não dava para salvar a imagem na qual se aplicava porque o aplicativo travava. Então pensei “sinto mundo”, ‘disse adeus” e desinstalei-o.

Não estou reclamando do programa POGado pre-beta bugado que liberaram para testar de graça e sim da falta de vontade de verificar um ÚNICO arquivo de 2.59MB. (E do fato que NINGUÉM me deu uma única ajuda para eu ter uma idéia de como resolver aquele monte de crash.)

Não me levem a mal, sou um grande fã do Giveawayoftheday, porém isso me deixou bem irritado.

This isn’t really new but it was new to me and probably to you. I found a site that gives away a full licensed version of software everyday. The software is really free and really licensed. It comes with a read me file containing the registration name and code you need to register it. Awesome!

The software ranges from text editors to DVD copiers to games. Each post has a comments section for people who download, or who have downloaded previously to comment on the software. There is also a “thumbs up/thumbs down” rating that you can use to help you decide if the software is any good.

I personally downloaded AnVir’s Task Manager. This is a more robust version of the Task Manager you get with Windows that shows you what programs are running and allows you to end them. This also allows you to take different programs out of the start up routine (for faster boot times). It also automatically searches for processes that could be viruses or trojans or malware. It works very well and even gives you icons in the toolbar with amount of memory being used, chip temperatures and, or course, the percentage of the processor being used.

Of course that program isn’t available today, but I wanted to use the program for a while before I bragged about this site. So far, so good. Check it every day to find you a program you might need!

Da un po’ di tempo seguo il sito Giveaway of the Day, un sito che propone ogni giorno un software commerciale rilasciando una licenza che però può essere utilizzata entro 24 h dalla data di rilascio. Bene! E se percaso ho bisogno di disinstallare il software? Come recupero la licenza? Ecco perchè oggi vi svelerò un trucco molto semplice per salvare la licenza!

Il funzionamento dell’attivazione è abbastanza semplice. Il file che troverete insieme al setup, denominato activate.exe, si collega nel sito Giveaway of the Day, verifica se il periodo di validità è ancora in corso ed in caso affermativo aggiunge una chiave di registro che registrerà il software appena installato.

Tutto ciò che dovremo fare è salvare questa chiave di registro in modo da ripristinare la licenza per una futura installazione! Per fare questo ci sono due modi:

1) Si cerca manualmente la chiave di registro interessata e si salva.

2) Per chi invece non ha molta dimestichezza con il regedit c’è un tool freeware che fa a caso nostro: RegFromApp della Nirsoft. Scaricate il file da qui Download RegFromApp.

Una volta scompattato l’archivio avviate il file RegFromApp.exe, vi si aprirà una finestra principale e una secondaria con la lista di tutti i processi in esecuzione. Chiudete quest’ultima finestra, andate nella finestra principale e clickate sul secondo tasto verde come in figura:

Dal tasto Browse selezionate il file per l’attivazione del software e poi spuntate la casella in basso con scritto “Start tracing immediately” e premere ok.

A questo punto verrà avviata l’operazione di registrazione del software e dopo terminata l’operazione verrà visualizzata la chiave di registro contenente la licenza. Potrete salvare questa chiave dal tasto salva così nella prossima installazione basterà solamente aggiungere questa chiave al registro con un doppio click per avere il software legalmente registrato!

Ihr braucht nur ein Schlüsselwort (eine Abkürzung) einer von Euch häufig verwendeten Phrase zuzuorden und AutoText wird diesen Satz immer dann schreiben, wenn ihr das Schlüsselwort eintippt – und das in allen Programmen.

Beispielsweise um einen Satz “Falls Sie weitere Fragen haben, stehen wir Ihnen gerne zur Verfügung” zu tippen, braucht ihr nur noch “fsw” einzugeben. Dies ist zeitsparend im Umgang mit Geschäftskunden, aber auch im privaten Bereich durchaus nützlich.
