Roll up those D&G sleeves and give honor to the fashion stylists this month. Metaphorically stylists are the last piece of jewelry used to spice up an outfit. They’re the go-to fashion leaders that can do no harm unless your on your own. But I give them credit where it’s do since there’s thousands of fashion stylists in the world.

Wednesday March 14, 2012 was where the style innovators enjoyed the luxury of being served. At this dedicated luncheon it infused the go-getters and some of their famous clients. By the way this is the second annual luncheon for the most influential stylists. Last year Rachel Zoe graced the cover.

Many of them has a soft spot for their clients, because of those red-carpet moments they created. So respect was definitely given, and of course the look of the shindig screamed sophistication meets style. I wanted to reveal this style moment because I admire stylists, and how they see designer looks as a collective thought.

Just when we think we heard it all GLAMs …They pull this one out!

BeautifulPeople.com just announced that it has booted 30,000 ‘ugly’ people from its dating ranks. The site, which distinguishes itself by excluding everyone who isn’t deemed physically attractive enough by its membership, claims that it was attacked by a “Shrek” virus that allowed a horde of uglies to join its prestigious ranks without going through the normal voting process.

Arguing that it can’t just “sweep 30,000 people under the carpet,” Beautiful People managing director Greg Hodge told The Guardian that the removals had to happen. “We have sincere regret for the unfortunate people who were wrongly admitted to the site and who believed, albeit for a short while, that they were beautiful,” Hodge said in a press release. “It must be a bitter pill to swallow, but better to have had a slice of heaven then never to have tasted it at all.”

Now dont get me wrong, I dont disagree with them booting the 30,000 people; I disagree with the whole premise of the dating site. I wonder if they kick out people that are ugly on the inside too #RandomThought

Don’t miss the upcoming DC Caribbean Carnival, starting this Saturday, June 25th, 2011 at 11 a.m.

The festival location is Banneker Recreational Park directly across the street from Howard University on Georgia Avenue NW.

The parade itself will be along Georgia Ave starting at Missouri Ave and ending at Barry Place. Traditional Caribbean dancers and costumes will be displayed.

This is a great day time event hosted by the DC Carribbean Carnival Inc. The Carribbean food they serve is delicious and there are always arts and crafts available for sale and on display.

It will be hot out though, and Banneker Park is the hood, so don’t think EVERYTHING is sweet out there. There will be a heavy police presence of course though so you won’t have to worry about any goons running up tucking your pockets.

Last night in the Council of Fashion Designers of America ( commonly referred to as the CDFA ) crowns Lady Gaga “Fashion Icon of the Year”. Gaga has yet to let us down with her over the top, costume slash art inspired fashion–from the meat dress with sent shockwaves to the penis stilettos  who made us all blush, Gaga has continuously pushed the envelope since she splashed on the scene in 2008. Last night , she attended the CDFA Awards in her normal over the top fashion , and gave a nod to the Queen of Fashion Anna Wintour ( after accidentally calling her a “bitch”)  by donning her signature pageboy bob with a turquoise twist.

 In the 9 minute clip, I felt every emotion from happiness to rage; each women told their story of being labeled “dark”. Issues with skin color within all ethnicities have existed since the dawn of time. From the outside looking in, skin color isnt that big of an issue but from the other side of the mirror, I can honestly say that being dark comes with a nasty stigma, within my own community. Its crazy because in the eyes of others, my black is beautiful to but to my own community, sometimes my black is beautiful enough (that isnt my issue, thats the issue of those people that dont appreciate my black). Anywho, I just wanted to share my thoughts on the whole “she is pretty…..for a dark skinned girl” thing.. it really doesnt matter what shade you are, because thats only skin deep; ugly ( rather it be physical or not ) goes straight to the bone.
