Glenn Beck’s got a one hundred year plan (oh, shit): “We need to start thinking like the

Glenn Beck’s got a one hundred year plan (oh, shit):

“We need to start thinking like the Chinese.”

In other words, Glenn Beck thinks that focused, insurgent, belligerent, fanatically committed mass movement Maoism—with its disciplined cell groups, ideological purity, and relentless propaganda—is the right model, tactically, for the advancing of ”conservatism” in the 21st century. How ironic is that?

Reason? Seriousness? Dialogue? Maturity? Calm? Suspicion of mass emotion? Nah. Mao.

Mao!

Here’s how Conor Friedersdorf puts Beck Zedong’s bright idea:

It includes a series of adult education seminars where citizens will be taught political activism, self-reliance, and the dread community organizing. The often tearful Fox News personality also promises a book that will include more specifics. “We need to start thinking like the Chinese,” Mr. Beck said at a recent rally. “I’m developing a 100 year plan for America.”

Andrew Sullivan rightly nails this latest inanity to come out of Teabagger Land:

[T]he vessel for rethinking will not come from proud ignoramuses and populist Elmer Gantrys. It will not come from reiterating propaganda but from confronting unpleasant facts about conservatism’s recent catastrophic failures and mistakes. They’re not thinking; they’re emoting. They’re not engaged in reforming conservatism; they’re engaged in escapist denialism about real problems. They are a sign of profound cultural sickness, not resurgent political and civic health.

The flies change but the shit is the same. If you wonder why the Republican Party is undergoing a purging of moderates from its ranks, this reading of Mao’s essay, “Combat Liberalism”, is helpful. It’s not hard to see how a person like Glenn Beck could find a monomaniacal person like Mao Zedong tactically informative:

Rumors on the Internets is an equal-opportunity critic and pest: we make an effort to out and shame

Rumors on the Internets is an equal-opportunity critic and pest: we make an effort to out and shame anyone who acts a fool, regardless of whether we agree with them or not.

That’s why we can’t resist flaming the people who got all worked up about the death of census worker Bill Sparkman this past September.

Sparkman’s body was discovered on September 12, 2009 hanging from a tree, bound with duct tape and the word “FED” scrawled on his chest. He had been working for the US Census in rural Appalachia, an area that doesn’t cotton to Uncle Sam nosing around in their business.

Sparkman was a teacher, Scout leader and family man who was well regarded for his hard work, punctuality and other virtues. He was a cancer survivor as well. He’d been warned that census work in the hills of Kentucky could be dangerous, due to the presence of anti-government types as well as criminals who don’t want anyone inquiring into their doings.

A thoughtful instant-take by Richard M. Benjamin at the Huffington Post was typical of the reaction to the news of Sparkman’s death:

Is Bill Sparkman — the 51-year old US Census fieldworker found hanged in rural southeastern Kentucky with the word “Fed” scrawled across his chest — a victim of hate crime directed at Uncle Sam? Or the casualty of drug-related violence in a struggling pocket of America?

To date, nobody knows for certain. The FBI is intensely investigating whether Sparkman was murdered; if so, by whom (acquaintance? stranger?); and whether his death is an act of violence against the federal government.

A more heated missive from Allison Kilkenny at HuffPo noted that the death had not been officially classed a homicide, but nonetheless unleashed a rant about right-wing hysteria and the Right’s obvious complicity in the death of Bill Sparkman:

“Federal” means “Big Government,” and the word has taken on a derogatory meaning in right-wing circles where fear and paranoia reign supreme. I agree with Johnson that this seems like an apparent homicide, but it’s not “nothing else.” By utilizing the branding “Fed,” the killers were clearly trying to make a political statement, namely “Obama: Stay Out.”

The word definitely packs an ideological punch, but not only is it anti-government, it’s anti-Obama. Let’s remember that most of the fringe now screaming about the dangers of Big Brother never made a peep during eight years of Bush’s ballooning executive branch. Suddenly, big government is a big problem, and the “Feds” are to blame…Such paranoia and anger isn’t contained in the woods of Kentucky. The problem is systematic.

Rather than immediately condemn the killing, some right-wing commenters are now using the occasion of Sparkman’s death to chat about their various conspiracy theories all involving the “feds.”

A “lynching” meme began to spread throughout the mindbrain of the left, epitomized by this tweet from “Proudlib”:

As Allison Kilkenny concluded, there was clearly a causal link between the death of Bill Sparkman and the unhinged rhetoric of Fox News:

These kinds of transparent lies would be hilarious to dissect if so many people didn’t really believe them. Beck, Hannity, O’Reilly, and Limbaugh not only stoke the fear and anger in the hearts and minds of their listeners, but then they also suggest their audience should then direct that anger at the flavor of the months (gays, feminists, poor people, abortion providers, or the “Feds”). And then they act surprised when a sick person acts on their fear by lashing out violently.

The surprise and indignation from the right-wing is insincere. Violent rhetoric begets violence, and no one should act surprised when a Sparkman-like killing happens again.

And so it was decided…

Bill Sparkman’s death was clearly the fault of Glenn Beck. (Or at least, as Gawker allowed, either Beck or a bunch of hillbilly meth runners.)

Unfortunately for the triumphant shriekers of the left wing, eager to brandish this heinous crime in the face of their ideological adversaries, Bill Sparkman was not lynched.

He killed himself and staged it to look like a murder, so his family could cash in on some recently-purchased insurance policies:

A Kentucky census worker found naked, bound with duct tape and hanging from a tree with “fed” scrawled on his chest killed himself but staged his death to make it look like a homicide, authorities said Tuesday.

Bill Sparkman, 51, was found Sept. 12 near a cemetery in a heavily wooded area of southeastern Kentucky. A man who found the body in the Daniel Boone National Forest has said Sparkman also was gagged and had an identification badge taped to his neck.

Authorities said Sparkman alone manipulated the scene to conceal a suicide. Police said he had talked with others about ending his life, though authorities did not say specifically who in a news release.

Sparkman had recently taken out two life insurance policies that would not pay out for suicide, authorities said. If Sparkman had been killed on the job, his family also would have been be eligible for up to $10,000 in death gratuity payments from the government.

He was not eligible for a separate life insurance policy through the government because his census work was intermittent, Census Bureau spokesman Stephen Buckner has previously said.

While Glenn Beck has yet to satisfactorily respond to the allegations that he raped and murdered a young girl in 1990, I think we can safely declare him innocent in the Sparkman case.

It’s tragic that this man decided he had no other choice but to end his life in this way, but it was wrong for him to try and frame phantom Census-hating hillbillies for the deed, and to have his family have to suffer through the trauma of the circumstances in which his body was found.

Ultimately, the knit-hatted Sparkman is the bad guy here, not Lou Dobbs et al.

The furor over the case is understandable, because as Simon Rosenthal writes (HuffPo again, they went nuts over this story), the 2010 Census is shaping up to be a highly controversial and dramatic process.

The right-wing revulsion to the Census has to do with the fact that it does not distinguish between illegal and legal residents, and the fact that it’s set to count noncitizens in its 2010 count:

Because the census (since at least 1980) has not distinguished citizens and permanent, legal residents from individuals here illegally, the basis for apportionment of House seats has been skewed. According to the Census Bureau’s latest American Community Survey data (2007), states with a significant net gain in population by inclusion of noncitizens include Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Nevada, New Jersey, New York and Texas. (There are tiny net gains for Hawaii and Massachusetts.)

This makes a real difference. Here’s why:

According to the latest American Community Survey, California has 5,622,422 noncitizens in its population of 36,264,467. Based on our round-number projection of a decade-end population in that state of 37,000,000 (including 5,750,000 noncitizens), California would have 57 members in the newly reapportioned U.S. House of Representatives.

However, with noncitizens not included for purposes of reapportionment, California would have 48 House seats (based on an estimated 308 million total population in 2010 with 283 million citizens, or 650,000 citizens per House seat). Using a similar projection, Texas would have 38 House members with noncitizens included. With only citizens counted, it would be entitled to 34 members.

In my opinion, the whole legal/illegal brouhaha is merely symbolic of the larger issue that drives outrage at the potential 2010 Census results: the coming Whiteocalypse, when whites become a minority in America (some say as soon as 2042).

Meanwhile, immigrants’ groups are no happier about the coming census than nativists are; some are advocating a boycott of the census, arguing “Legalize us before you count us.”

Indeed, both sides have a point when it comes to the Census’ decision to punt on the legal/illegal issue and decline to inquire about the citizenship status of a person being surveyed: why should significant changes in Congressional apportionment be driven without regard to the legal status of those granted “representation”? What is the point of giving additional representation to people who cannot exercise the rights of citizenship in America?

Ultimately, the issue is whether the United States is going to grant citizenship under certain conditions to the tens of millions of people living here illegally: “amnesty” or “justice” depending on your point of view.

These are all fascinating issues that were crystallized by the death of Bill Sparkman…

Unfortunately, in the grip of the 24-hour news cycle, too much emphasis was placed on a “murder” that never took place, and a cavalcade of finger-pointing obscured the real issues that we ought to be wrestling with as a nation.

Next time, pundits — more thinky, less blamey.

In an earlier post, I quoted from The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn to illustrate the meaning of “fantods.” In skimming through the book to find that quote, I was reminded so strongly how much joy Twain took in the sheer inventiveness of his language that I sat down to re-read the whole novel.

Near the end, those two unscrupulous crooks and hypocrites, the King and the Duke, pretend to be the long-lost brothers of a man who was recently deceased (or “diseased,” as Huck says) in the hopes of stealing the fortune he has left. To make their claims plausible, they present themselves to his family and friends ostentatiously weeping and grieving—“full of tears and flapdoodle,” as Twain says.

In our own time, we’ve been subjected by celebrities and politicians—from Jimmy Swaggart to Mark Sanford and Glenn Beck—to so many egregious public displays of “tears and flapdoodle” that I hope we can resuscitate this wonderful phrase and get it back into circulation. I’m sure we’ll have many more opportunities.

November 24, 2009
SARAH PALIN’S COMIN’ TO TOWN!

Kristinn Taylor is standing in line at the Barnes & Noble Bookseller store in Orlando along with some 1,000 others who are hoping to get a wristband. Why?
Because Sarah Palin is coming to town.

Kristinn, Free Republic media spokesman, says he arrived at the site at 7:45 a.m. to find that there were already 600 people snaked around the front, side and back of the building. Also across a street between two buildings and back up the block, around the front of another set of stores, down that street, and in front of the local … well, you get the idea. It’s a line that snakes a total of seven blocks long.
“After they opened the doors at 9 a.m. we finally turned the corner to the front of the building, and have half a block to go,” Kristinn said.

“The people in line are roughly 50-50 male-female. Chris Matthews will be disappointed to learn that there are minorities in line also waiting to meet Sarah Palin. The crowd is in a good mood and of course, we’re not leaving piles of trash, and in all other ways are well mannered. And as usual with a gathering of conservatives, law enforcement presence is at a minimum. The women in line for this book signing are much more attractive than the women I saw at the Hillary Clinton booksigning some years ago that the Freepers protested at.”
Mercifully the late autumn Florida weather is cooperating.
“It’s in the 70’s and cloudy with a light breeze, so we’re not getting baked,” said the fair haired, fair skinned Freeper.
Earlier this morning Kristinn says “There was a real good Sarah Palin impersonator here . A dead ringer.”
He says they’ve not been told by book store personnel how many wrist bracelets will be distributed.
“The assistant manager said that yesterday Palin’s tour staff authorized the Orlando store to issue “stand-by” bracelets which means that after those with the lettered bracelets are done, if Palin is up to it she’ll start signing books for those in the stand-by line. But no guarantees. Yesterday, according to a Ft. Bragg Public Affairs Officer, Palin took care of 4,000 people. Another 500 disappointed fans were turned away.
“They were told that Palin has gotten into a good rythym and been able to pick up her pace signing books. The bookstore manager said that in a meeting last week about the stop, stand by bracelets weren’t even an option.”
Earlier today at a Jacksonville book signing, Kristinn says it was reported that 500 bracelets were issued for that book signing.
Palin’s next stop today is at The Villages (site of Glenn Beck’s visit last Saturday), and then it will be on to Orlando with an estimated time of arrival at 7:30 p.m. tonight.
Orlando is the last stop of the first portion of her book tour before Sarah takes a break for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Kristinn says media coverage has been good. “All the Orlando TV stations have been here, and Central Florida News 13 is still on site, conducting interviews.”
So as I leave him, Kristinn is in line. Still…

The Neocon Republican Terrorist vision of a divided and segregated America, where everybody that is

The Neocon Republican Terrorist vision of a divided and segregated America, where everybody that is not a white Anglo-saxon Christian is considered cannon fodder and trash, is coming to fruition. It is reminiscent of the reaction to the new population of freed slaves that the white former slave masters had after they were soundly defeated in the Civil War by the Union army.

This is the period in our history called Reconstruction where, for a decade after the Civil War,blacks gained political power, and some attained financial wealth as well.

During Reconstruction, southern whites turned violent when they saw blacks making major gains.

Reconstruction was followed in the South by domination by the Democratic Party and the enactment of Jim Crow laws, grandfather clauses and similar measures. The bitterness and repercussions from the heated conflicts of the era lasted well into the twentieth century.

Read more about the Reconstruction era here… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reconstruction_era_of_the_United_States

Southern state governments quickly enacted the restrictive “black codes“. However, they were abolished in 1866 and seldom had effect, because the Freedman’s Bureau (not the local courts) handled the legal affairs of freedmen.

The Black Codes indicated the plans of the southern whites for the former slaves.[24] The freedmen would have more rights than did free blacks before the war, but they still had only a limited set of second-class civil rights, no voting rights, and, since they were not citizens, they could not own firearms, serve on a jury in a lawsuit involving whites or move about without employment.[25] The Black Codes would limit blacks’ ability to control their own employment. The Black Codes outraged northern opinion. They were overthrown by the Civil Rights Act of 1866 that gave the Freedmen full legal equality (except for the right to vote).[26

There were many reported murders of blacks in the south during reconstruction, but many killings of blacks went unreported, and by all accounts, millions upon millions of African-Americans were killed by the hands of bitter southerners, as reported in this account taken from Wikipedia by a soldier visiting from the North...

The number of murders and assaults perpetrated upon Negroes is very great; we can form only an approximate estimate of what is going on in those parts of the South which are not closely garrisoned, and from which no regular reports are received, by what occurs under the very eyes of our military authorities. As to my personal experience, I will only mention that during my two days sojourn at Atlanta, one Negro was stabbed with fatal effect on the street, and three were poisoned, one of whom died.

In todays modern post-racial world, we have organizations and groups that have a mission to keep track of, and to investigate the existence of, the number of racially motivated,or bias motivated crimes against minorities, religious groups, gay Americans.

Currently, America is going through another Reconstruction like era,as we are experiencing the racial backlash of hatred based on the election of our first black president,Barack Obama.

The election of Barack has caused a rise in all forms of hate crimes, as well as the emergence of the Ku Klux Klan as a force to stoke the flames of hatred and encouraging physical action of violence against blacks, Gays, and all other religious groups that are not Christian.

What is most distressing is that the tide of racial violence is being egged on and financed by the foreigner Rupert Murdoch, and the entire Republican party, that at one time represented the opposite of what they believe in now.

For a group that, centuries ago, used to be the main supporter of civil rights, they currently are the main driving force behind this increasing tide of racism and bigotry that is the rage in most of the states in America.

The racist are moving from the south, and invading the once liberal California, in order to spread their southern tradition of hatred and illiteracy. Hate crimes based on sexual orientation shot up 21 percent in Los Angeles County last year, while religious crimes increased 14 percent, because the southern bigots have moved in.

The Daily News in Los Angeles reports that...in 2008 in the Valley,James Shamp, an African-American man who worked as a janitor at a bowling alley in Canoga Park, was shot to death as he was throwing out trash. According to the report, three members of the Canoga Park Alabama gang, which has a long history of violent anti-black crimes, were arrested and charged with murder and hate crime enhancements.

The San Fernando Valley had the most amount of hate crimes in the Los Angeles area.

"Whenever I look at a map of hate crimes, I find there is a great diversity of hate crimes that occur in the San Fernando Valley," said Robin Toma, executive director of the commission. "You have anti-Semitic hate crimes, homophobic hate crimes and racially motivated hate crimes. There is also the phenomena of racialized gang violence."

Sexual orientation hate crimes rose the most last year, with more than 80 percent targeting gay men and at least nine crimes traced to Proposition 8.

A report on a sexually motivated hate crime from the Daily News... A white lesbian couple walking hand-in-hand on the beach in Malibu. The mother of a white tourist family from Arkansas told them, "You are going to burn in hell!" and dumped her water bottle on one of them and punched one in the face...

Please keep that level of ignorance in Arkansas,...and my family is from Arkansas.

The election of the first black president and hot-button issues such as abortion and gay marriage contributed to the spikes, anti-bias groups say. Public figures like Sarah Palin and Glen Beck have done a lot to cause the current racial hatred that whites are visiting on all others.

The two of them have been quite effective when it come to rallying sympathy for groups like the KKK and the Nazis.

USA TODAY is reporting that the number of attacks on blacks increased 8% to 2,876, accounting for seven of every 10 race-motivated crimes.

"There is this kind of extremism going on," says Hilary Shelton, director of the NAACP Washington bureau. He says Obama's election and the recession led to a backlash against blacks as some people look for someone to blame for hard economic times. http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2009-11-23-hate-crimes_N.htm

I say to the world, this is a good look at the so-called ''Post-Racial'' America, a country where race relations and the unity of the races has been usurped by the in vogue traditional American practice of racial bias, hatred and division.

Our country has been going through this cycle for well over a Hundred and 8o years, and by the looks of things, that sad tradition will continue.

What do we do to end this....will we come together, or will we have to resort to our primal instinct, where only the strong survive.

I think that based on 200 years of data and statistics, the tradition of racism is alive, well, and thriving in the United States, and that we are guilty of the same atrocities against humanity...our own people, that we so blatantly accuse our so-called enemies of doing to their minority populations.

We are all truly hypocrites.

There’s an old saying I just made up: “Don’t judge the message by the messenger. J

There’s an old saying I just made up: “Don’t judge the message by the messenger. Judge the message on its actual content.”

When I first heard that saying (about two minutes ago), it came to me as I was watching the youtube videos of Glenn Beck’s rally last week-end held at “The Villages” here in Florida.

I had intended on driving up to see him in person, but a prior committment kept me from doing so. However, one of the principals of our local 912 Group was there and thoughtfully taped Glenn’s speech in its entirety. I present it to you in segments below.

Before watching, however, please allow me to make a couple of points:

Beck’s Flair For Theatrics

Upon first viewing, it would be easy to compare the theatrics of Beck’s presentations to any number of egocentric “look at ME!” performers, so full of themselves you simply want to run screaming in the other direction.

Only when you know Beck’s “back story” does one understand that what you’re actually watching is a man who has been to the gates of hell and clawed his way back.

It may be difficult to get it at first, but what you are seeing is not so much theatrics, but the true, “my right hand to God” passion of a man who looked at death (by his own doing) in the face before experiencing his own personal epiphany. That epiphany gave him the strength to say, “No! There’s something better in store for me. Let that journey be my journey of choice.” Understand, this man speaks his heart straight from the hip… and his shirt sleeve.

I wanted to ask Glenn one simple question (and if I get the chance, I will): “Glenn, if you had not plummeted to the depths you did, do you think you would have found the courage, the strength and the clarity of vision needed to get to where you are now?” Because, make no mistake folks. Beck puts his life on the line every day. When he uncovers corruption, he exposes it. When he knows who is behind some nefarious abuse of power, he names names. Not because he is trying to be a big shot, but because he has been to hell and back and he knows, there is right and there is wrong. And if you don’t have the guts to stand up against what’s wrong, those who stand up for wrong will always win.

The Wrong People Are Winning Because We Let Them

The wrong people have been “winning” in this country for too long. But, it’s primarily because those of us who know what’s right have been too comfortable in our barcaloungers and designer fashions to stand up and confront them. We didn’t want to spill our lattes. We’ve been more concerned with political correctness than the truth.

We’ve been lazy and we’ve been cowards.

Beck Has A Plan – And It’s Huge

Beck has a plan to turn this ship called America around. And you’d better listen up, folks, because that ship is currently bashing into an iceberg. I’ll let Beck complete that metaphor in the video.

But here’s the bottom line: Within the next couple of years, our character as individuals as well as a society will be tested at the same level as those who got us through WWII and the great depression. Maybe even more harshly.

My prediction as of the moment? As a nation, we don’t have the character to make it through the approaching fire.

As a nation, we traded our character for creature comforts. We left honor at the entrance to our office buildings in exchange for “whatever it takes to win” in business. Worst of all, we left the greatest part of “family” at the door in exchange for the self-pleasures of big screen TVs, PCs where our children find it easier to communicate with strangers than their own parents; a dinner table that’s used more for setting things on other than food since we don’t really eat together that much any more.

We left the art of parenting at the day care center so we can have the double income to pay for the bigger house and the mini-van, not to mention week-ends at the spa (“Oh, it’s so gooood to get away from the kids, isn’t it honey?”).

No, we don’t all live that way, but there’s something in that scenario above that most people can relate to… if they’re honest. And look at where it’s gotten us. We didn’t have to sacrifice being “the right people” in order to get here. But we did it anyway, because it made it so much easier if we didn’t have to hold ourselves accountable.

And that’s precisely the kind of society that spawns the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Harry Reid and, yes, Barack Obama: When WE THE PEOPLE decide to let others rule us, then rule us they will. THAT’S how we got to where we are today. We gave the politicians the opportunity to abuse their powers and they did so. Why does that surprise any of us?

Is Beck’s Plan Doomed To Failure?

Beck has a plan. But it’s destined for failure unless we are all willing to commit to doing the right thing with our lives. Before we can demand excellence from our politicians, we have to commit to excellence in ourselves.

But here’s the challenge facing us: Beck discovered the importance of character when standing at the gates of Hell. But we’re not there. We’re in our SUVs on our way to pick up Chinese take-out for dinner. We’re at the gym working out to maintain our buff bodies instead of taking that time to be with our kids. The kids are at the mall-cineplex doing heaven knows what.

How, then, do we discover the need to fundamentally change our own behavior if we are drunk with comfort? We’re achieving our goals, but they’re the wrong goals!

Beck’s hell was the result of alcohol and drug abuse. Ours is going to be from throwing away all that God has given us that is good: Family. Honor. Faith. Commitment. Dedication to doing the right thing all the time. It’s hard to commit to good when you’re so comfortable in your “comfort zone.” But like it or not, that comfort zone we all have is about to shift with the American paradigm.

Good News – Bad News

Beck’s plan can work. There is light at the end of the tunnel. The bad news? We have to dig the tunnel. It will take commitment, dedication, honor, and faith to make the journey, but if we are willing to provide all of that, then Ronald Reagan was right: “America’s finest days are yet to come.” But only – and I stress this – only if we are willing to commit to a long-term re-building of our society and ourselves. And yes… it could take one hundred years to truly reach that goal. But oh, what a better ride it’s gonna be on the way there.

Here’s Glenn to tell you more about it:

If you made it this far, congratulations. You get it. And you care. Now… get going. Get out of your comfort zone and get involved. Get your house in order. Or get ready to lose it altogether. There’s not going to be any choice in the matter. If you choose anything but the honorable path, you may wind up at your own personal gates of hell. The choice is yours. And the time to decide is now.

This past weekend as many of you know Glenn Beck unveiled The Plan which essentially challenges Amer

This past weekend as many of you know Glenn Beck unveiled The Plan which essentially challenges Americans to rise up and be the real conservative leaders that we don’t currently have and focus on education. The Plan culminates with a book and a rally in Washington on August 28, 2010. Many critics on the Left have said this is proof that he only cares about selling books, and some Republicans are concerned with his cries for a third party.

But I’m not particularly interested in any of that. With all of Beck’s talk about community organizing, and the way people flock to him (did you see how many people showed up at The Villages?) I’m starting to believe that Beck is the Right’s cult of personality, the way Obama is the Left’s. I mean within a matter of minutes Saturday, the Glenn Beck faithful on Twitter were freaking out over the revelation of this new 100 year plan. But there are other similarities between the two as well, Obama had the fainters, Beck has the criers. Both Beck and Obama are great orators that move the masses to action whether it’s over hope and change or The 9/12 Project. Both have very strong opinions about this country and both want to take our country to a new place. They are extremely controversial and passionately hated by their enemies. But the similarities are mainly expressed by the way people follow these two men without question and with a fervor that I am sure must be reminiscent of Jesus Christ. Their followers expect these men to work miracles.

Now don’t get me wrong. I’m no Glenn Beck hater, in fact I’ve listened to his radio show for years. I’ve bought his books, and I watch his TV show every once in while, when I can. And right now, if I had to choose between Obama’s future for our country or Beck’s, it’s Beck’s all day. But that doesn’t mean that I won’t stop questioning him or his motives. I mean he is still human after all.

NEW YORK, NY – Lou Dobbs has confirmed he will be running for President in 2012, on the Unasha

NEW YORK, NY – Lou Dobbs has confirmed he will be running for President in 2012, on the Unashamedly Xenophobic ticket.

Dobbs retired recently after spending nearly 30 years as an anchorman for CNN. He left the program due to controversy around his views on illegal immigration and the Obama Birther conspiracy. Now with extra time on his hands, Dobbs in considering a run in politics.

Lou Dobbs said he will run on the Unashamedly Xenophobic ticket. “We’ve got to do something for this country,” said Dobbs in an interview yesterday. He went on to describe how America is losing touch with its roots: “America deserves a leader that fight for our identity. Finally, there will be a party for middle class white people who are threatened by change.”

Political advisors say that Dobbs is capitalizing on a rift in the Republican party. Around the country moderate Republicans are at odds with staunchly conservative Republicans. Feeling abandoned by moderate Republicans, the more extreme conservatives have already begun threatening to create a third party. Some believe Lou Dobbs would hope to rally these disaffected and inherently frightened conservatives and spearhead their third party initiative.

“Some people say that after 9/11 and the wars abroad they are tired of living in fear. I say America isn’t scared enough!” Dobbs continued in his interview. “There are people out there who aren’t like us, and I don’t know about you but that scares me! Mexico could invade at any minute! Al-Queda has sleeper cells everywhere! Somebody needs to stand up for the sake of regression to a simpler time, in the face of a changing world!”

Dobbs released on his website his first commercial for a presidential campaign. In the video he stands in front of a mirror talking himself up, encouraging himself to stand up to stand up for the middle man, the scared man, and be the voice of “Real America.” “Somebody has to stand up to the Liberal Agenda, the Gay Agenda, the Illegal Alien Agenda! Are you threatened by change? You should be. I’m Lou Dobbs, and I want to be your President.”

Another media personality Glenn Beck has also considered a third party alternative. Beck’s fan base is similarly conservative and accustomed to being afraid. In several of his episodes Beck has also chastised the Republican party for being too moderate, and not speaking to the needs of its more conservative fringe. Lou Dobbs is expected to meet with Beck to join forces in creating a third major political party.

As I researching for my English paper on the Progressive Movement, I came across Franklin Roosevelt

As I researching for my English paper on the Progressive Movement, I came across Franklin Roosevelt’s 1944 State of the Union address. I was deeply appalled that any president, especially one that is often portrayed as one of the greatest ever, would propose something that’s so against the America’s foundation. Below I will copy the address and highlight his new “rights:”

“It is our duty now to begin to lay the plans and determine the strategy for the winning of a lasting peace and the establishment of an American standard of living higher than ever before known. We cannot be content, no matter how high that general standard of living may be, if some fraction of our people—whether it be one-third or one-fifth or one-tenth—is ill-fed, ill-clothed, ill-housed, and insecure.

This Republic had its beginning, and grew to its present strength, under the protection of certain inalienable political rights—among them the right of free speech, free press, free worship, trial by jury, freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures. They were our rights to life and liberty.

As our nation has grown in size and stature, however—as our industrial economy expanded—these political rights proved inadequate to assure us equality in the pursuit of happiness.

We have come to a clear realization of the fact that true individual freedom cannot exist without economic security and independence. “Necessitous men are not free men.” People who are hungry and out of a job are the stuff of which dictatorships are made.

In our day these economic truths have become accepted as self-evident. We have accepted, so to speak, a second Bill of Rights under which a new basis of security and prosperity can be established for all—regardless of station, race, or creed.

Among these are:

The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation;

The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;

The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;

The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;

The right of every family to a decent home;

The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;

The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;

The right to a good education.

All of these rights spell security. And after this war is won we must be prepared to move forward, in the implementation of these rights, to new goals of human happiness and well-being.

America’s own rightful place in the world depends in large part upon how fully these and similar rights have been carried into practice for our citizens.”

These are so blatantly radical, unconstitutional, and socialist. It gets a whole lot worse. According to an article on www.forbes.com, Cass Sunstein (Head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs) is a strong supporter of these rights. Sunstein wrote a book, published in 2004 titled, The Second Bill of Rights: FDR’s Unfinished Revolution and Why We Need It More than Ever. If you believe in the constitution, the founding of this nation, and capitalism than you should be nervous that he has such a high position. These “rights” would astronomically grow the size of government and result in excessive taxation to fund all the programs.

It seems clear that’s exactly what progressives want, the growth of government, the death of capitalism and the rise of socialism. “Obama calls himself a progressive, as does Hillary Clinton” (http://www.newsweek.com/id/189122). Al Gore also considers himself a progressive, you know the guy who’s not a scientist and cares so deeply about the environment/global cooling, err I mean warming, and thinks he knows global warming inside and out. Now, either these liberals, progressives, which ever you prefer to call them are either unaware at the extremely radicalism of their titles or they intend completely to uproot America and “Fundamentally transform” America.

SIDE NOTE: A couple scientists got their emails hacked and proves that global warming figures have been distorted. Shocking huh? http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/21/science/earth/21climate.html

There is a great divide in our nation, one that has been present for the better part of our history as a nation. One which if left untended may result in the squandering of an opportunity to change the way in which we relate to and live with each other and perhaps to begin the process of healing and reconciliation that has been needed for so long. It is astounding that an opportunity for healing and for dialogue on the important issues of race, ethnicity, oppression, poverty, immigration and the like – such as that presented to us through the election of Barack Obama to the Presidency – is being utterly squandered.

In fact as I consider it more carefully this would appear to be a divide that is as old as the history of humankind itself. For thousands of years one group of people or another has sought to selfishly gain for themselves at the expense of another exploited or oppressed group of people. This can be seen in the Exodus account of the control wielded by the Egyptians over the Jewish people during the time of the Pharaohs. In the New Testament we see this in the domination by the ruling Roman Empire of Jewish and other people at the time of Christ’s ministry on earth. People have been divided along racial, ethnic, economic, nationalistic, gender, age, culture and class lines since the dawn of time. And perhaps they will continue to be until the end of time.

What makes this issue fresh for me is the recollection of an incident that occurred in the autumn of 2008. I was excitedly sharing my hope that with the election of Barack Obama to the Presidency of the United States we were being presented with an opportunity to begin a dialogue about race and ethnicity in this country. This was not intended to place all of my hope for such a dialogue in the mere fact that our President was for the first time going to be a person of color; but rather to acknowledge that it would be all but impossible to ignore this fact.

I cannot adequately convey the extent of my disappointment at the response I received from my friend: “Oh no Rob, you don’t understand. Obama is going to tear this nation apart. He is going to be the cause of increased hostility and tension, not peace and reconciliation.” I asked my friend to explain how he could think such a thing? Surely as Christians we would not allow such a thing to happen. We are told that we should not only love our neighbors but our enemies as well. (Matthew 5:44). And yet my friend could not extend this love to unknown others who might hold a different theology, ideology or point of view.

Was my friend being prophetic at the time about the direction our national discourse was going to take? Or was he perhaps proclaiming to me that he – and others of similar temperament – would diligently work towards bringing about the sad state of affairs with which we are now being faced?

Christ said that we are to come together in unity, to fulfill kingdom purposes; to achieve what had previously been unattainable. He came to deliver the good news of the kingdom and simply asked that we follow his example in our behavior and more importantly in the attitude of our hearts. I ask what must be the attitude of the heart of people like Rush Limbaugh, or Glenn Beck, who collectively speak to the fear that divides us; fear that at its core is un-American. Fear fuels hatred and perpetuates ignorance. Rather than reconciliation this fear facilitates re-birth of the worst of American history and our segregationist and blatantly racist heritage.

It is unfathomable the degree to which so-called Christians and others on either end of the spectrum of political ideology talk at and over each other rather than with each other. Consider the not too subtle campaign promoting the idea that because of his name and biological lineage President Obama is not an American citizen and therefore should not be allowed to serve as President. This does nothing to benefit anyone other than perhaps the purveyors of angry talk radio and other narrow special interest groups. It is demagogic, inflammatory rhetoric that fuels the basest emotions among a self-proclaimed elect segment of the citizenry.

So what are we to do? Perhaps we need to take a step like that of both Mother Bethel A.M.E. Church and St. George’s Methodist Church, both in Philadelphia. Recently they came together for a reconciliation service more than 200 years after a congregational split wounded the Philadelphia community. Or perhaps we reach out across the aisle, across the street, from neighborhood to neighborhood, from church to church, from school to school and from house to house. What we do is begin to spend time experiencing the reality of each other for ourselves. Turn off the radio and dial down the rhetoric and the hatred and simply hear from each other, not about each other. This would, in the final analysis, go a long way towards bridging that great divide that exists in our society and in our hearts.

She clearly leaves out the year the percentage chart was made and posted. Nor did she give credit to Media Matters.

Now, I must say she is correct when she points out the fact that the entire MSNBC News Channel Anchors & Co-Anchors are all white. This issue should be taken into consideration and she actually makes a good point. Her biggest mistake was decieving her readers with a “2007 PERCENTAGE/RACE/DIVERSITY CHART”. Malkoo-koo did not consider her followers in deciding to post such an old chart. Lazy, lazy, lazy!

Malkoo-koo also posted pictures of the “all white news cast from AM – PM daily programs. Minus the chart, and name-calling, she actually nailed it. Can you believe it, Malkoo gets a 3 out of 5 score. The 2 strikes are the 1) name calling 2) the 2007 Percentage chart

By Noel Sheppard Fox News’s Glenn Beck took on the global warming e-mail scandal known as Clim

By Noel Sheppard

Fox News’s Glenn Beck took on the global warming e-mail scandal known as ClimateGate Monday, and really laid into all the high-profile scientists involved.

As NewsBusters reported Friday, hacked e-mail messages to and from folks with direct access to the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change show a concerted effort on the part of these powerful scientists to manipulate temperature data in order to exaggerate average global temperatures.

As Beck pointed out Monday, those involved also conspired to prevent viewpoints counter to their own from getting published in scientific journals or becoming part of IPCC reports.

“Think about that next time you hear about, oh, ‘the consensus,’ and ‘the science is settled,’ and Al Gore is bragging about the peer reviewed journals” (Hat Tip Anthony Watts via Bob Ferguson):

GLENN BECK, HOST: A potentially major scandal is unfolding after someone released thousands of e-mails and documents sent between prominent scientists of global warming debate. The New York Times has verified that these e-mails are legitimate which wasn’t too hard because some of them were written by and to one of their reporters. More on that here in just a second. But first let’s start with the science that has been so settled for all these years. What do these guys say behind closed doors about their so-called bullet-proof consensus? Well, Kevin Trenberth, he’s a climatologist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research. He wrote, “The fact is we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it’s a travesty that we can’t.” Incorrect data? Inadequate systems? Yeah. Travesty, pretty good word for it.

How about Phil Jones, head of of the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, “I have just completed Mike’s nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years to hide the decline.” Yes, he is talking about a trick that another scientist previously used in a peer reviewed journal to apparently hide the decline in temperatures. Incredible. But it doesn’t stop there.

How about when scientific journals published material that Jones didn’t like? Quote “I can’t see either of these papers being in the next IPCC report…Kevin and I will keep them out somehow — even if we have to redefine what the peer review literature is” end quote. Think about that next time you hear about, oh, “the consensus,” and “the science is settled,” and Al Gore is bragging about the peer reviewed journals

Now what happens to a peer reviewed paper when they disagree with what gets published? Quote “…our only choice is to ignore this paper. They have already achieved what they wanted.” But at least they are not intentionally deleting documents or hiding information, right? Oh, no, they’re doing that, too. Here is Phil Jones writing Michael Mann, the scientist that came up with that Hockey Stick graph, that one. He said, “Mike, can you delete any emails you may have had with Keith re: AR4? Keith will do likewise. He’s not in at the moment – minor family crisis…Can you also email Gene and get him to do the same? I don’t have his new email address. We will get Caspar to do likewise.” Count them. There’s Jones, Mike, Keith, Gene, and Caspar, whoever they are, potentially deleting e-mails supposedly about supposed science.

So why all the secrecy? Well, we find out from another e-mail from Michael Mann about skeptic Steven McIntyre. “I’m sure you are aware that McIntyre and his ilk realize they no longer need to get their crap published in legitimate journals [you know, the one's they're cycling! ] but all they have to do is put it up on their blog and the contrarian noise machine kicks into gear. Pretty soon Drudge, Rush Limbaugh, and Glenn Beck and their ilk are parroting the claims.”

So you see, if McIntyre sees the data, he’ll find the tricks that are in it to hide the decline, and then crazy people like me might just let you know about it. Oh, the horror what will happen to cap and trade? That e-mail was sent from one of the scientists to a New York Times reporter. That same reporter, Andrew Revkin, thankfully did report on the story for the New York Times, but he will not post the documents because, quote “The documents appear to have been acquired illegally and contain all manner of private information and statements that were never intended for the public eye, so they won’t be posted here.” Oh, well, I know, the New York Times would never post or print anything that wasn’t intended for the public eye, like, maybe, the way we monitor terrorists or specific strategies to protect our troops in the field. No, no, the New York Times, they’re above that.

Deleting e-mails, hiding declines, incorrect data, inadequate systems, redefining scientific peer reviews for their own uses! This is what appears to be going on behind the scenes and literally trillions of dollars of policy decisions are being based on what these guys are telling us. If your gut said, “Wait a minute, this global warming thing sounds like a scam.” Well, I think you’re seeing it now. We told you this was going on, without proof, because we listened to our gut. You’d never believe me, but once again, here we are with yet another brand new reality.

Indeed.

I notice that Beck, O’Reilly and Hannity still have jobs, so apparently it’s only the unintentional errors that can land you in hot water. This is, after all, the network that basically claims it has a constitutional right to lie to its viewers.
