The merch I’m talking about is a plush wearable bloody Gloomy arm by Mori Chack, the creator of Gloomy. You can see online ordering details at KidRobot.

Must be awesome to use these as arm warmers at the office although getting work done would be impossible. These babies cost $50 dollars a pop. I like Gloomy but I’ve got stuff to spend on too so I might put this on the backside of the order planning room.

this is the view from my apartment on saturday morning. it was so gloomy and so beautiful at the same time.

De blogosfeer moet blijven bestaan. Krakbloggers zoals wijzelve, bescheiden als we zijn, moeten blijven bloggen. Een oproep aan de bloggers die hier lezen: blog wat meer! Natuurlijk moet ik niet met de vinger beginnen wijzen terwijl ik er zelf niks aan doe. Ik ben een bedroevend blogger geweest. De gemiddelde postfrequentie van pakweg anderhalf jaar geleden – shit zeg, ik ben al meer dan drie jaar bezig! – lijkt een Burj Dubai‘ke te zijn tegenover die van vandaag. Mijn welgemeende excuses.

Natuurlijk moet ik niet blijven bloggen over hoe ik niet-blog. Zulke niet-blog-blogposts zijn immers nauwelijks blog-blogpost. Oké, ik blog minder. Ja, het spijt me. Inderdaad, dat vinden jullie jammer. Nog een laatste keer de feiten op een rij gezet, dus nu zwijgen we erover. Waarover dan wél bloggen? Nog zo’n cliché-vraag.

Naar het schijnt bestaan er verschillende types van blogs. Deze zou ik omschrijven als “dagboekblog met af en toe random randomness”. Enerzijds gelul over wat er zich zoal in mijn leven afspeelt, anderzijds op niks slaand gezever, denken we maar aan de gouden dagen der zondagsklap. Vermits ik nogal een kei ben in dagboekbloggen en ik naïef genoeg ben om te geloven dat jullie dat iets interesseert, zal ik het nog maar eens doen, zeker?

Het is druk op school, in mijn laatste jaar, afstudeerrichting journalistiek aan UGent. Het eerste semester loopt in volle vaart en groepswerken, taken, presentaties, papers en deadlines sjeezen voorbij. Ik weet nog helemaal niet of ik het tot een goed eind breng, maar we doen alvast ons best. Geraakt dit semester achter de rug, dan is het stage-tijd. Twee maand op de duidingsredactie van VRT-Radio. Spannend. Daarna springen we volop op de thesis en dan zal het einde van 2009-2010 zich stilaan aankondigen. Ik kijk, net als jullie, zeer benieuwd uit naar hoe ik dan, terugblikkend op het voorbije, hopelijk succesvolle jaar, zal dagboekbloggen. Over wat op dit schooljaar volgt, durf ik nog nauwelijks na te denken. Ik overweeg steeds meer om nog “iets met talen” te doen na dit schooljaar. Maar dat zien we dan nog wel.

Ik ben nog steeds samen met Julie en de teller tikt rustig verder in de richting van zeven maanden. Gelukkig samen en sinds september quasi samen op kot. In Gent, natuurlijk. Eens we dit jaar van beperkte ruimte en lawaaierige kotgenoten doorlopen hebben, zijn er plannen om volgend schooljaar deftig tesamen op kot te gaan. Toekomstmuziek met een leuke klank.

Op muzikaal vlak is mijn leven – en dat als drummer, haha! – wat stiller geworden. Ik speel nog steeds graag en goed, bescheiden als ik ben, maar iets minder. Dat heeft veel te maken met de schooldrukte, dus daar komt hopelijk na dit semester wat verandering in. Maar maak je geen zorgen, musiceren zit me in het bloed, dus u hoort wat dat betreft nog van mij.

Dat wat betreft dagboekgeblog. Ik ging, in het teken van de af en toe random randomness, nu nog een verhaaltje vertellen over Merlijn en Mormel, twee Gentse dwergen met een drankprobleem. Ik ben er echter van overtuigd dat jullie met jullie fantasie met zo’n onderwerp een veel hilarischer verhaal kunnen maken dan wat ik hier ooit zou kunnen neertikken. Laat je dus gaan en post het resultaat gerust hieronder!

So while Yoko and Pixel Maritan were playing around in their sandbag fort, thinking NOTHING could go wrong with the firepower they were packing, the didn’t notice someone sneaking up from behind an upturned Zaku military mug.

At the moment I’m sipping coffee at my desk surrounded by Nendoroids so I figured I’d cook up this scenario since the primary reason I got Pixel Maritan is to be the other half of this gun-rage duo I had pictured in my mind before. As I mentioned before, Yoko is using one of the faces of Nendoroid Kyouka. I’ll have three more gun-wielders in the form of Canaan, Alphard and Ein so my office desk should see more action. For the meantime though, it’s Gloomy livening things up on the desktop.

I recently found a decently-priced 1/8 Kyouka Midarezaki figurine and I’ve already made arrangements to acquire it PRIMARILY for the mini-Kyoukas that come with the figurine. I had passed on an item almost a year ago that I had seriously wanted to own: WonFes Miku. Now, I’m not going to let this other one slide. It’s not an exclusive but it’s quite a rarity now.

So what’s on your purchase/pre-order list right now?

The sky turns ominously dark, the wind gets bone piercingly chilly, the chatter of raindrops hitting against pavements turns strangely hypnotizing, my iTunes playlist is mutated into a series of slow slushy ballads,  my mood gets lugubriously melancholy, and directs my thoughts to “Gloom Avenue”.

At “Gloom Avenue”, I think of all the things that I should not even be thinking. I cannot help it, it gushes into my mind so brutally that tears form at the edge of my eye sometimes, threatening to surge out like the roaring waves of a ferocious Tsunami unleashing its tremendous power but then forcefully tamed by the puissance of determination and will.If that is the case, perhaps I have long forgotten how it feels to literally cry your heart out.

I’ve been thinking hard and long about wanting to give up on something this very year because I realized that I’m not an individual who works extremely well with Standard Operating Procedures or Rules and Regulations. I feel so restricted, so confined, so limited,as if I am a lump of clay, awaiting to be moulded into what ‘they’ want me to be – a “Standard Operating -insert-” kind of thing.

I was sure I knew what was paved ahead of me before I even penned down my choice, but why am I only starting to regret it now when I’m not allowed to take any steps backwards or make any changes. There are times when I was dead on to submit my application to quit, but then again, could not bear to, did not dare to, chickened out, all my efforts of whatever I had done will be washed down the drain into obscurity.

It is now even a chore for me to get up and find the motivation to attend activities faithfully like I once did with all the enthusiasm, everything that needs to be done seems so useless, mundane and not beneficial all of a sudden.

Where do I go from here? This is not where I intended to be.
How do I refuel the fading flame of passion to keep it alive?

I need an answer.

As it’s Friday the 13th today, I figured I’d post a somewhat gloomy looking picture. The Main Building of the University of Glasgow, also known as the Sir Gilbert Scott Building, photo taken from the Round Reading Room, where I noticed a bit back I haven’t actually been to until now. The Main Building is named after the original architect who designed and built most of the Main Building.

Unfortunately for my very first official Albuquerque photo walk I forgot to bring some of my girls for picture ops.  I blame this on waking at 4:45 am for a work related meeting which successfully zonked me for the rest of the day.

Kat and I headed over to Old Town in the “historic” part of Albuquerque near all the museums.  My uncle-in-law has a photography studio down there so I wind up in that part of town frequently.  Today was overcast which made playing with light nearly non-existant as it was all just sad and gloomy.

The colors in the courtyard were actually a wonderful depiction of autumn and many pictures were taken although it was practically impossible to not include cars.

Though strangely enough, people were scarce.  Just the occasional passerby going to or from but not stopping in between.

The trees, we could tell, were defiantly under pressure from their leaves.  I have a feeling they’re going to be bare by Thanksgiving…

We explored the little inlets and dead ends of Old Town enjoying the cool autumn day and finding proof of the towns age in its weathered and crumbling fixtures.

My favorite hidden courtyard of them all was this which still had up its dio de los muertos decorations from a past celebration.  The shops, though, were quiet.

Although perhaps too quiet, reminded me of the pre-nightfall food stalls around the bathhouse in Spirited Away.

On the way out, of course, a friendly reminder that we were not alone about to get pummeled into a land of stressed out spirits seeking the comfort of a seaweed soak.

After Old Town was all said and done it was time for coffee, a Turkish Latte (consisting of cardamom and honey), at one of Albuquerque’s signature coffee shops.

What a long day, time for new Naruto.

No people, no sense of time and at some point a little anxiety.
This, this would explain my life most days here as a military spouse. ek!
But there are those days where I prefer solitude for my privacy of thinking and recollecting things.

The Faculty of Education is the youngest faculty at Glasgow University, formed when the University merged with St Andrew’s College of Education in 1999. In 2003, the building in the photo above, the St Andrew’s Building was opened to house the Faculty of Education. The St Andrew’s Building is located just to the east of Gilmorehill, over the River Kelvin in the Woodlands area of Glasgow. (See Map) Within the umbrella of the Faculty of Education you can find the Department of Curriculum Studies, Department of Educational Studies, and the Department of Religious Education and the Department of Adult & Continuing Education. Although the building looks a bit gloomy in the photo right now, the large glass front of the building is typically lit up in the evenings during the week (Picture taken on a Saturday evening), in several different colours. I need to trek there one evening with a tripod, and get a day time shot too at some point.

The big sign prominent in the photo is a new addition, which is potentially unfortunate timing-wise as there is talk of a reshuffle of the nine faculties which exist today. The new plan, proposed by the new principal Anton Muscatelli, would combine the nine faculties into 4 Schools or Colleges. The Faculty of Education would cease to exist, becoming a part of the newly formed School of Law, Business, Social Sciences and Education (LBSSE). I can’t find the original article right now, but I will talk more about this when I hear more.

The eagle-eyed among you will notice that although ABC Sundae is a fortnightly theme day, it’s been three weeks since the letter D. In the Halloween rush I posted the wrong photo last Sunday. I’ll swap that one and this one around in a few days. Oops!

I’m just in a slump of a  mood lately.

Hi guys! I came across these videos and they made me a laugh a lot.  Now since It’s already November and kind of dark and gloomy, I thought it would be cool If I helped us all prepare for the upcoming Winter blues.  So here are 5 videos that I hope will make you laugh and if they don’t then I’m sorry you must have a serious case of SAD and maybe you should watch Tom and Jerry!  And if you have already watched them, then check them out again because you know they’ll be super hilarious the second time around!

1.  The Batman Scene -  Yes another clip from the show “Community” where Abed dressed as The Batman goes to rescue his peers towards the end.  This is the funniest take on Batman’s speech.  I can watch this over and over again!  And you should too!

My tea for the moment: I wanted to spice things up a little bit so I decided to try STASH’s premium Chai White Tea.  It’s a little stronger than the usual White tea but it smells like hmm… Christmas for some reason.  I do not kid, just try it and tell me if you feel the same.  It must be all that cinnamon, allspice and cardamom mixture!
