Ich finde es echt bescheiden von Google, für Deutschland die Endung *@googlemail.com zu benutzen. *@gmail.com ist viel leichter und eMail an @gmail.com kommen auch an. Da steht für mich keine Logik hinter…

Al giorno d’oggi abbiamo mille mila account di posta… di instant messaging e chi più chi meno siamo sui vari LinkedIn e Facebook… un gran casino tenere tutto sott’occhio…

Io tra MSN, ICQ, Skype, MSN, YahooMessenger dovrei tenere aperti 5 programmi… per non parlare della mail personale, quella del blog, LinkedIn e Facebook… ‘na faticaccia no?

Ed ecco che l’altro giorno “scopro” Digsby… mi “controlla” le varie mail e funge da IM multiprotocollo per i vari programmi di IM (eccetto Skype… almeno per ora)…

…poi controlla LinkedIn e facebook e un po’ di altre cose che non necessariamente utilizzo…

Comodissimo per i vari popup di avviso dei messaggi ma anche dei cambi di stato di FB o di nuovo foto inserite dai contatti…

La feature mooooolto comoda è che una volta installato su un PC e creato l’account su Digsby (a cui associare tutti gli altri) se per esempio sono in giro con il portatile ed installo Digsby lì… TAAAAAC automaticamente prende tutte le impostazioni che avevo già impostato sul PC di casa… in questo modo uno non si deve nemmeno più preoccupare di ricordarsi 10k password… ne basta una… uella di Digsby!

Personalmente mi son trovato a disabilitare un po’ di funzioni che risultavano “leggermente” invasive durante l’utilizzo normale: ridotto all’osso i popup e gli avvisi sonori in pratica] ma devo dire che sono rimasto piacevolmente impressionato dal programmino… Bhé provatelo anche voi no?

Visando competir diretamente com o Microsoft Windows Seven no segmento de netbooks, o Google desenvolveu um sistema operacional em nuvem a partir do navegador Chrome.

A idéia é abolir quase todo o sistema operacional embarcado, oferecendo um tempo de inicialização de aproximadamente sete segundos, deixando apenas as ferramentas para ligar o equipamento e entrar na internet. Todo o resto estará disponível na rede, através dos servidores do Google. A única tela que o usuário terá é a do navegador Chrome. Na internet ele terá aplicativos de escritório baseados no Google Apps, visualizadores de vídeo e som,baseados no Youtube, e-mail e mensageiro instantâneo baseados no gmail e no Google Talk, entre outros aplicativos. Com isso, segundo o Google, não seria necessário mais programas acessórios, como antivirus, firewall, aplicativos de escritório, etc. O custo do sistema operacional seria irrisório e o usuário teria seu ambiente de trabalho e de diversão na web.

Quanto às críticas de manter os documentos das pessoas na web, existirá a opção de manter documentos localmente, com edição na web.

Sekarang isilah filter berdasarkan kebutuhan anda, bisa dari, ke, subject dan yang mempunyai kata ***. Karena yang ingin saya filter adalah dari milis OSUG-Bandung maka saya isikan ke textbox to : dengan kata “osug-bandung@googlegroups.com” nah gimana kalau dari seseorang atau dari pacar kita misalnya, oke tinggal isi aja alamat email pacar kamu di textbox from :. Test Search untuk meyakinkan bahwa filter kita berhasil. Jika berhasil maka next ke step berikutnya.

Step 4,

Checklist Skip the Inbox agar email yang baru masuk tidak masuk ke Inbox dan checklist Apply the Label dan pilih label yang sudah kita bikin. Jangan lupa checklist Also apply filter to xx conversations below dan jika sudah yakin klik Create Filter.

Step 5,

Selamat anda sudah berhasil membuat filter email di Gmail, sekarang kita ingin merubah tampilan email kita cara masuk ke Setting yang ada di pojok kanan atas sebelah alamat email anda.

Step 6,

Pilih Themes dan disitu akan ada banyak pilihan themes, disini saya pilih Grafiti dan selesai. Jika ada box untuk mengisi nama kota isi saja sesuka kita. Sekarang themes Gmail saya jadi lebih berwarna dan enak dilihat setidaknya menurut saya sendiri hehe .

Måste skriva ett inlägg för att se att det funkar som det ska. Har precis uppgraderat min dator till Windows 7. Märkligt nog känns det lite sladdrigare än Vista som jag körde innan. Kan inte sätta fingret på exakt vad det är förutom en sak. Saknas ikoner lite här och var, verkar som Windows inte hittar programmens ikoner riktigt så en del är utan ikoner, istället visas bara en dokumentikon av standardtyp.

Sen så vill Gmail-appen inte visa sin ikon när man startat programmet trots att ikonen visas för programmet på skrivbordet. En kort stund dök den upp förut men sen har den inte velat visa sig i aktivitetsfältet när programmet är igång.

En annan grej som oxå är B är att nu visas inte längre Tv-bilden i aktivitetsfältets för-visning utan istället så visas där bara kanalväljaren till min tv-applikation. Ja, det lär väl dyka upp fler grejer allteftersom. Men jag hade ju ett jädra elände när jag fick Vista en gång i tiden och även om det sagts att Windows 7 inte ska dras med lika mycket problem som Vista gjorde när det lanserades så är jag inte helt övertygad om den saken.

Kul låt jag hittat förresten, hade aldrig hört den innan vad jag kan påminna mig om. Den är i alla fall från 1983, en tid då det gjordes en hel del go sån funk så konkurrensen var ganska stor och det var nog mycket vi missade här i lilla Sverige som vi först nu upptäcker i och med att det dyker upp på YouTube.

This has just not been my week, technologically speaking. I would never compare my life to Job in the ‘real world;’ this past week, a five-year-old girl was killed in Raleigh, after being prostituted by her mother for an undetermined time – unbeknownst to her father. The economy is allegedly recovering while an analogous recovery in employment is apparently not necesarry. Chronic hunger – euphemistically deemed ‘food insecurity’ by those fluent in policyspeak, is on the rise. And that’s just in America – to say nothing of Palestine, or Darfur.

So no, if I were attempting to compare myself to Job in The World Outside, I’d be tragically unaware. But in cyberspace, at the intersection of Big Corporate Business and Big Tech, I feel like I’ve had a steady stream of little nanobot robot servants coming to me, rattling off some techno-calamity, breathlessly finishing “…and I alone have lived to tell you!” Allow me my lament:

• First, my Facebook account gets deactivated. I’ve already spilled ink on that. No word from them yet. (Though thanks all of you who have joined the Facebook group registering your complaint) Does anyone know a higher-up at FB that you can get me in touch with? Follow me on Twitter @zoecarnate for updates on this.
• Second, my Gmail starts randomly rejecting emails I send, displaying this warning message, essentially accusing me of “sending suspicious-looking or spammy text…to large numbers of recipients.” The odd thing is, in every instance my email has bounced, I’ve emailed 1-2 people in response to a query they’ve made to me. The bounces haven’t happened alot yet, but it feels ominous, like a portent of what to come. (Think ‘No Country for Old Men.’)
• Next, my soon-to-be-former bank Wachovia has been making life for the Morrell Clan miserable, via their predatory automated protection racket, aka ‘Overdraft Protection.’ But I’ve spilled pixels on this before, too. I’ve always thought that there’s a special place in hell for bankers, but when it comes to the person(s) who invented Overdraft Protection, it seems that Lucifer and his misshapen demonic minions will be playing jump rope with their intestines. Just sayin’.
• Finally, I was informed by an astute web-surfer yesterday that zoecarnate.com, my alt.xian web directory, was down. Turns out my domain name tried to auto-renew, but I’d switched debit cards a few months back so it didn’t go through. And now, due to the Wachovia snafu detailed above, a want of $25 has zoecarnate.com in limbo. (Wanna donate toward this & other needed zoecarnate upgrades? PayPal me at paperprelude [at] gmail [dot] com. We’re actually in the midst of some lovely plans for a zoecarnate.com redesign with a very talented web architect. So what lessons has this massive #TECHNOFAIL taught me? I have no clue to be honest. What lessons did Job learn? That’s the debate, isn’t it? I tend to think that Job, like Ecclesiastes, accentuates the meaninglessness of suffering. But many exegetes and meaning-makers tend to sound more like Job’s friends in the story, pinning ‘the reason’ for Job’s suffering on This, That, or the Other.

Rather than looking back and trying to discern a techno-cosmic pattern, I’d rather look forward: How, now, shall I live? Like Job, I think take care of, and nurture, my limping technological superstructure. But I’m also going to go outside more.

I recently purchase the Motorola Droid.  As part of that transition I needed to export my contacts from three different systems, including Yahoo, into Gmail’s contacts application.  Like most everyone else, I don’t like the idea of using multiple systems to manage contacts and email so I was considering also moving my email from Yahoo to Google.  Seems like a logical decision considering the Droid’s focus on Google Apps.  But changes repels me more than it should.

Final decision…wait until I had a little more info.  Instead, I asked my peers using LinkedIn’s poll application.  The question was simple, “do you prefer Yahoo, Gmail or another system for personal email use?”.  Overall, the preference toward Gmail was a little higher than I expected and validated my leaning toward a transition to Gmail.  However, the one thing that surprised me was how many more men preferred Gmail (70%) as compared to women (33%).  In fact, 1 in 3 women prefer Yahoo while 0 of the men polled preferred Yahoo.

I’m trying to draw any conclusions from the data.  The sample size was relatively small.  But I did think the gender difference in poll was enough to share.  In a few days I’ll just be another “men prefer Gmail” statistic.

The only tech news that really matters today is…Google’s Chrome OS announcement.

What is it? Chrome OS is a light-weight operating system based off of Linux. The OS design ques are based off of those from Google’s Chrome web browser. Because of it’s Linux heritage, Chrome OS’s intent is to provide lightning fast boot-up times (often termed “instant-on”) and shut down times as well. We’re talking something less than 10 seconds.

After turn-on the computer will boot up the Chrome Browser – because most people think a computer is for one thing only: the internet. It will have all your favorite Google Apps. Everything is stored in the “cloud.” No hard drives. Is it safe? I’m not sold on it just yet. As someone who gets rather annoyed when gmail outages occur from time to time, Google needs to step it up if they really want the cloud to be considered a replacement for local storage.

Chrome OS will only be available on netbooks at first by mid-2010.

There’s no doubt that the world is moving rapidly toward a web only and online only world. Google just sees an opportunity to pioneer and spearhead the technology. I’m not surprised.

Intentaré resumir lo que nos iban contando nuestros amigos de Genbeta, desde el evento presentación de Chrome OS de Google.

Como muchos esperábamos, es un sistema operativo basado enteramente en las aplicaciones web que presenta una nueva dimensión del concepto de sistema operativo en un ordenador. Básicamente, el navegador Chrome es el centro del sistema operativo, y en dicho sistema no se instalarán aplicaciones ya que todo funcionará vía web. Los datos se sincronizarán en línea, los vídeos se reproducirán con componentes del mismo navegador, e incluso podremos imprimir y conectar memorias USB y cámaras para navegar mediante un explorador de archivos

La interfaz de usuario, y que es el sistema operativo perfecto para navegar trabajar a través de Internet.

Hasta el momento lo que sabemos es que es un Sistema Operativo pensado en todos sus aspectos para un usuario,es muy seguro, rápido y su interfaz será minimalista.

จุดเด่นที่ถูกพูดถึงมากที่สุดของแบล็กเบอร์รี่คือเรื่องการใช้งาน Push E-mail และการแชตผ่านทาง BB Messaging ที่ผู้ใช้แบล็กเบอร์รี่แต่ละเครื่องจะมีรหัส (Pin) ไว้แลกเปลี่ยนกันเพื่อใช้แชตในระหว่างกลุ่มเพื่อนเดียวกัน จุดนี้เองส่งผลให้แบล็กเบอร์รี่มีการเติบโตแบบก้าวกระโดด เนื่องจากเมื่อเพื่อนหนึ่งคนในกลุ่มใช้และบอกต่อเพื่อนคนอื่นๆ ก็จะเข้ามาเป็นสมาชิกที่ใช้แบล็กเบอร์รี่เหมือนกันจะได้ใช้งานแชตในกลุ่มได้

โนเกีย ค่ายมือถืออันดับหนึ่งของโลกและในเมืองไทย ได้ขยับตัวครั้งแรกสำหรับการเปิดตำรานำผลิตภัณฑ์และบริการมาแข่งขันกับแบ ล็กเบอร์รี่ด้วยการร่วมมือกับทางเอไอเอส เปิดตัว “Nokia Messaging” สำหรับลูกค้าเอไอเอส โดยเอไอเอสนับเป็นผู้ให้บริการโทรศัพท์เคลื่อนที่รายแรกในประเทศไทยที่ให้ บริการ Nokia Messaging ซึ่งมีบริการ Push E-mail เป็นบริการแรกที่ให้กับผู้ใช้งานโนเกียและเอไอเอสได้สัมผัส ก่อนที่จะมีการเปิดให้บริการแชตผ่าน Nokia Messaging ระหว่างมือถือโนเกียด้วยกันในช่วงเดือนตุลาคมนี้ เป็นบริการในลักษณะเดียวกับการใช้งานแบล็กเบอร์รี่

Nokia Messaging เป็นบริการ Push E-mail ที่ออกแบบมาให้ติดตั้งและใช้งานได้โดยง่าย โดยสามารถใช้งานได้สูงสุดถึง 10 อีเมลแอกเคานต์บนโทรศัพท์มือถือเพียงเครื่องเดียว นอกจากนี้บริการ Nokia Messaging ยังรองรับบริการอีเมลทั่วไป เช่น Gmail Windows Live Hotmail Yahoo mail รวมถึงอีเมลของผู้ให้บริการอีเมลในแต่ละประเทศ โดยผู้ใช้งานสามารถอ่านอีเมล ส่งอีเมล ฟอร์เวิร์ดเมล ตอบอีเมล ดาวน์โหลด อ่านและแนบไฟล์ต่างๆ ได้โดยตรงจากโทรศัพท์มือถือ ซึ่งผู้ใช้มั่นใจได้กับความรวดเร็วของ Push E-mail เทคโนโลยีของโนเกียที่ทำให้ได้รับอีเมลบนมือถือทันทีที่อีเมลส่งถึงอีเม ลเซิร์ฟเวอร์

สำหรับแพกเกจที่โนเกียร่วมกับเอไอเอสจัดให้กับผู้ใช้งานในเครือข่าย เอไอเอส ใช้งานอีเมลบนมือถือได้แก่ แพกเกจ Nokia Messaging 199 บาท โดยผู้ใช้สามารถใช้บริการ Nokia Messaging ได้สูงสุดถึง 5 เมกะไบต์ต่อเดือน ในราคาเพียง 199 บาท หรือ Nokia Messaging 399 บาท Unlimited ที่ผู้ใช้งานสามารถใช้บริการ Nokia Messaging ได้แบบไม่จำกัด ทั้งนี้ บริการดังกล่าวใช้งานได้เฉพาะอีเมลเท่านั้น ไม่รวมการใช้งานดาต้าอื่นๆ

หากพิจารณาแพกเกจของโนเกียในครั้งนี้จะพบว่ามีข้อจำกัดเรื่องการใช้ งานเพียงอีเมลอย่างเดียว ขณะที่แพกเกจของแบล็กเบอร์รี่สามารถที่จะใช้งานดาต้าอื่นๆ ได้ด้วย และหากพิจารณาเปรียบในส่วนของการใช้งานแบบไม่จำกัดของโนเกียที่ราคา 399 บาท หากมีการใช้งานจีพีอาร์เอสแบบไม่จำกัดจะต้องเสียค่าใช้จ่ายเพิ่มอีก 999 บาท ส่วนแพกเกจ Unlimited ของแบล็กเบอร์รี่ที่เอไอเอสให้บริการเช่นเดียวกันมีค่าใช้จ่ายอยู่เพียง 650 บาท

แหล่งข่าวในเอไอเอส กล่าวว่า การทำแพกเกจร่วมกับโนเกียในครั้งนี้ถือเป็นการเริ่มต้นเท่านั้น เหมือนกับเป็นการทดลองตลาดว่ายอมรับกับแพกเกจนี้หรือไม่ ซึ่งหากเปรียบเทียบกับแพกเกจของแบล็กเบอร์รี่แล้วถือว่ายังเป็นรองอยู่ อีกประการหนึ่งที่เอไอเอสยังไม่สามารถเปิดแพกเกจกับโนเกียเช่นเดียวกับแบล็กเบอร์รี่คือ ความกังวลเรื่องที่ผู้ใช้โนเกียจะนำแพกเกจนี้ไปเชื่อมต่อเพื่อใช้งานอินเทอร์เน็ตตลอดเวลา ซึ่งส่งผลกระทบต่อแพกเกจการใช้งานจีพีอาร์เอสที่เอไอเอสให้บริการอยู่ในปัจจุบัน

อีกปัจจัยหนึ่งที่ส่งผลต่อการกำหนดราคาแพกเกจการให้บริการอีเมลบนมือ ถือ คือหากเปรียบเทียบเทคโนโลยีการส่งข้อมูลระหว่างแบล็กเบอร์รี่และโนเกียนั้น ทางแบล็กเบอร์รี่มีเทคโนโลยีการบีบอัดข้อมูลที่ทำให้ใช้แบนด์วิธของเครือข่ายเอไอเอสที่น้อยกว่าทางเทคโนโลยีของโนเกียมาก

“ในอนาคตเราอาจมีการพิจารณาทำแพกเกจที่มีราคาลดลงได้ หากโนเกียมีการพัฒนาเทคโนโลยีการส่งข้อมูลที่ทำให้ข้อมูลเล็กแบบเดียวกับแบล็กเบอร์รี่” แหล่งข่าวคนเดิม กล่าว

นอกจากนี้การเปิดให้บริการ Nokia Messaging ในครั้งนี้ของโนเกียยังไม่มีการเปิดให้บริการแชตเหมือนอย่างบริการ BB Messaging น่าที่จะเป็นอีกหนึ่งความเสียเปรียบที่ทำให้ผู้ที่จะมาเลือกใช้บริการ Nokia Messaging แต่ชอบแชตด้วยตัดสินใจรอให้โนเกียเปิดให้บริการนี้ก่อนในเดือนตุลาคม รวมถึงข้อจำกัดของบริการ Nokia Messaging ที่ให้บริการเฉพาะผู้ใช้งานจีเอสเอ็ม แอดวานซ์ เท่านั้น ส่วนผู้ใช้งานวัน-ทู-คอล! จะมีการเปิดให้บริการในระยะต่อไป

การชิงเปิดให้บริการของโนเกียจึงเหมือนกับการออกมาหยั่งเชิงตลาด และชะลอผู้บริโภคที่กำลังจะตัดสินใจเลือกใช้บริการแบล็กเบอร์รี่มากกว่า โดยพยายามที่จะเป็นหนึ่งในค่ายโทรศัพท์มือถือที่มีผลิตภัณฑ์และบริการที่รอง รับอีเมลบนมือถือเช่นกัน

นอกจากแพกเกจที่เปิดตัวออกมา โนเกียยังเปิดตัวโทรศัพท์ Eseries 2 รุ่นล่าสุด คือ โนเกีย E52 และโนเกีย E63 ที่รองรับบริการ Nokia Messaging ซึ่งโทรศัพท์ทั้งสองรุ่นมีแป้นกด QWERTY เต็มรูปแบบและจอภาพขนาดใหญ่เช่นเดียวกับแบล็กเบอร์รี่มาเป็นตัวเลือกสำหรับ ผู้บริโภคไทยด้วย

อย่างไรก็ตาม บริการ Nokia Messaging ยังสามารถใช้งานได้บนโทรศัพท์โนเกีย E75 และโทรศัพท์โนเกียที่ใช้ระบบปฏิบัติการ S60 อีกกลายรุ่น อาทิ โนเกีย N97 โนเกีย E71 และโนเกีย N95 8GB โดยผู้ใช้งานบริการ Nokia Messaging สามารถติดตั้งอีเมลบนมือถือได้ง่ายๆ เพียง 3 ขั้นตอน ก็สามารถใช้งานได้ทันที

และไม่ใช่เพียงโนเกียที่กำลังจะพยายามเปิดตัวผลิตภัณฑ์และบริการออก มาโค่นกระแสแบล็กเบอร์รี่เพียงรายเดียวอย่างแน่นอน ค่ายมือถืออื่นๆ คงกำลังค้นหาวิธีการที่จะให้ผู้บริโภคยอมรับในผลิตภัณฑ์ของตนเองให้ได้ในยุค อีเมลมือถือฟีเวอร์

GMAIL’S TAG FUNCTION: 9

I’m LOVING this new part of my gmail.  Basically, gmail allows you to create a variety of different tags that you can then apply to each individual email (and color-code them!).  It’s similar to the idea of folders (as a copy of the emails are then stored under that tag), EXCEPT that you can tag emails with more than one tag.  BRILLIANT!  Sometimes you have an email that you could possibly store in two folders, and have to make the hard decision of where it goes, but now that problem is solved!

You also can create filters (similar to ‘rules’ on Outlook) to proactively tag any emails from certain people, with a certain subject line, or just containing certain words.  I went through and created a bunch of rules for friends, family, climbing and most importantly, junk e-mail.  When I went and applied them to all my emails it quickly cleaned up my inbox, now down to only 3,032 (not quite as lucky).

And from now on, any emails coming from my classic junk mail providers will automatically be archived and I’ll never have to look at them again.

I may have gone overboard out of excitement (we’ll see if there’s a need to narrow down later on), but some of my tags include:

-1 because it was a bit difficult to figure out at first, which is why I’ve gone three years without doing any sort of organizing.  Once you get the hang though, it’s awesome!  I can’t wait to figure out what else gmail has to offer…

As this blog starts to be alive again, I think there is the time for another major upgrade: new email.

With the breaking news announcement by LinkedIn and Microsoft of the new Outlook Social Connector (OSC) functionality for Office 2010, few bloggers are noting (yet) that this *is* Microsoft’s upcoming answer to  GoogleWave, the latter of which is very much still in beta while the former is set to be released in “early 2010″.

Both OSC and GoogleWave are supposed to revolutionize the “Inbox” (after xobni and SenderOK pioneered the way) by providing photos, profile data and the message/attachment history of people who send you communications. Let’s take a look under the hood of what both the giants are proposing:

We just received a GoogleWave account this week. We’ve found that the GoogleWave Inbox does not receive Gmail Email destined for the Gmail Inbox. I can’t even send a normal Email to my Name@GoogleWave.com address. Why not? People only want to go to a few places per day to communicate with others. They now go to their Email Inbox and maybe their Twitter application and Facebook page on the web. Does Google expect them to go to another URL (GoogleWave.com) to do additional communicating with others? Waves are like forums. GoogleWave will kill the forum software industry and the need for people to buy domains to park their forums…but will GoogleWave become the first place people go when they turn on their machines? Not until waves share the Inbox with normal Email.

We’ll have to assume that GoogleWave and Gmail will be merged by the time Outlook 2010 becomes available in “early 2010″. The GoogleWave Inbox will have to accept normal Email. Waves themselves are great. But unless a merge happens, GoogleWave will just be a web portal to find and join fancy forums on subjects we search for.

Microsoft’s OSC will present Email with sender profiles with “rich history” in the Email header pane (like SenderOK now does – xobni does this via an extra “frame sidebar”). Microsoft will immediately get many of the world’s businesspeople as users (many of the 500 Million current Outlook users will upgrade to Office 2010). Users will apparently see Email sender profiles via APIs from social networks similar to what xobni and SenderOK now do for Outlook 2003/7  (currently SenderOK draws from its own social network “business card exchange”). OSC will not have the great xobni multiple PST search functionality nor will it have the excellent SenderOK Email priority sorting functionality. But xobni and SenderOK would both like to get the lion’s share of 500 million users overnight the way Microsoft will.

Who will win the “Social Email Fight” between Google and Microsoft? Well…Google business customers are already reading their Gmail hosted mail inside Outlook 2003 and 2007 (a major win for both Google and Microsoft). If Google wants to really win this, they will need to build an Email client that works offline. Gmail and GoogleWave will also have to work together on a platform that can be worked on offline by the time Microsoft Outlook 2010 arrives with OSC.

Otherwise Microsoft *will* win the battle to keep Outlook as the first program businesspeople open on their computers in the morning.

And remember what I said above, if Google leaves GoogleWave.com as a separate URL destination, it will just become a portal for those who want to join forums.

What about Mozilla, AOL and Yahoo? If they don’t move fast, the upcoming OSC vs GoogleWave fight will trample them down, even if the fight is one-sided (with GoogleWave becoming a mere forum portal).

They may want to give us a call. SenderOK, unlike xobni, already has the technology that works with webmail and our plug-in now provides Yahoo, Gmail, Live and Outlook with photo business cards in the Email header pane.

What about international webmail portals like Web.de in Germany or Mail.ru in Russia? They’ll need to get this type of technology quickly as well and SenderOK is the only company that can provide them with this now.

Regarding social network executives, the Microsoft OSC announcement is a big boost for LinkedIn (who will be providing Microsoft’s first API feed) and Facebook managers are probably camping on the lawn tonight outside the Microsoft campus in Redmond. LinkedIn is agreeing to let Microsoft know that any given Email address (sender) was linked to a specific person in the LinkedIn database. This means that nobody can anonymously send Email anymore using an Email address that LinkedIn knows belongs to them (there will be stories of people trying to send Email anonymously and getting “caught” by the profile they didn’t know would appear on the other end).

The future of social networking really *is* inside the Email client, even if the Email client is in a web browser. If you get a message from someone (and Email and SMS text messages are the dominant messaging form), then the photo and profile data that message associates itself with will become the main place for people to go to update their data. Fewer and fewer people will be heading for specific URLs on the web to communicate with contacts on some socnet site – and this includes Facebook and Twitter.

Twitter applications MUST merge with Email clients. The current separate situation is only temporary.

Final Note: Gmail will soon have anti-phishing icons, similar to what SenderOK does. Microsoft has not announced that they will have this helpful and potentially profitable functionality (corporations would pay to have their logos serve as anti-phishing icons = symbols of authenticated Email).
