The nice guys at Philips are giving away 3 brand new Philips GoGear mp3 players! What’s awesome about these mp3 players is the FullSound technology which in simple words, puts back what mp3 compressing takes away. I tried it out and it really works.. Felt like I was in a concert hall or at some rock concert. Reminded me of lossless technology but without the expensive price tag for the setup.

Anyway, back to the contest. All you have to do is to tell your story about a funny misconception… =)

And if you haven’t tried it out, there will be a roadshow at ECP McDonald’s area this Saturday, 12 Sep, 11am – 2pm. Watch out for the Philips girls!

In DVD Catalyst 3, select PocketPC > W Mobile 2005

Click on “Modify” and increase the framerate to 30.

This format relies on Windows Media Encoder 9 to be installed

Windows Media Encoder 9 is a free and safe download from Microsoft and can be downloaded from here: Microsoft.com

For all other formats, DVD Catalyst has everything it needs for conversions, but the way Windows Media Encoder works might require you to install some additional software.

For conversions to work, the files you are converting must be playable in Windows Media Player on the computer running DVD Catalyst. In addition, because Windows Media Encoder relies on specific use of video format support files, there might be compatibility issues with certain programs.

If you are experiencing issues when converting to your selected format, please read the following:

For DVD conversions, an inbetweenfile is created.

Try playing this inbetweenfile in Windows Media Player on your computer (has to be this program, not VLC, RealPlayer or any other video player application)

If the file plays in Windows Media Player, while the file is playing, rightclick on the video, and select File > Properties. In the screen that shows, look at the codecs used. Look below for if the codec is known to cause issues. If the codec is DIVX, please follow the directions below on changing it’s settings.

if the inbetweenfile does not play, you are missing the codecs needed to play, Install the DIVX codec using the teps described below.

If the file still does not play after installing the DIVX codec, the file is corrupted. In some cases, when the DVD has dust, scratches, the conversion crashes when it hits that spot. This results in a corrupted file. You can try and enable “Split in parts of X chapters” in DVD Catalyst to see where it goes wrong. This results in DVD Catalalyst creating a whole bunch of numbered small files, each one representing one scene in the movie. If one file is missing, thats where the dvd has an issue.

The DVD can also have a protection system that keeps it from converting properly. While most DVDs work, there are always a few that are a bit more picky. Try a different DVD, and see if that works fine.

Certain programs can cause conversions to fail or crash, including

nVidia Pureview/Mediacenter extentions, causes the conversion to freeze at the end when converting Tivo and MPEG files.

XVID codec, Pinnacle Studio 9, Nero Showtime, causes AVI conversions to crash when they start.

DIVX codec, on its default settings, it crashes conversions of avi files.

to fix these issues, download and install the DIVX codec from here: http://www.divx.com/ (the free download is sufficient)

During install, only theDIVX codec is needed, there is no need to install the rest. (It also tries to install the Yahoo Toolbar at the end, be carefull with clicking next next finish)

After install, go to Start > (all) Programs > DIVX > DIVX Codec > Decoder Configuration Utility

Remove the checkmark for “Deinterlace Video”

At the top, click on the Toolbar Tab, and at the bottom there, put a checkmark in “Disable Logo”

And then conversions should work fine.

Based on the specs found here:

http://www.consumer.philips.com/consumer/en/gb/consumer/cc/_productid_SA5295_02_GB_CONSUMER/Flash-audio-video-player+SA5295-02

It states the following formats are supported:

MPEG4 SP Up to 640 kbps in avi format, 320×240, 30 fps (Other formats
supported by using provided converter software)

Besides this, it mentions WMV9 as well.

The other formats have been suggested to try to a few people who asked about the GoGear, however, only the above mentioned conversion method has been reported as working.

Old news here, but in case you didn’t know, Microsoft had one of their prototype phones stolen

Old news here, but in case you didn’t know, Microsoft had one of their prototype phones stolen at MWC. “A prototype phone loaded with a top-secret copy of the new software was lifted from an executive’s pocket.” The executive is unnamed, but it’s not really important. I guess that’s what happens when MWC is being held at Barcelona, “a city famous for its world class pickpockets.” Talk about Microsoft getting owned. Although, i don’t know why anyone would want to know anything about Windows Mobile 6.5.

Killzone 2 may be reportedly getting co-op as DLC in the future. I don’t know if you remember, but Sony mentioned about a month ago that there “are no plans for co-op in Killzone 2.” Sony just loves to upset their fans and then reward them later. Well, most of the time there is a reward, at least.

If you’re hoping to get the Palm Pre on a different carrier (other than Sprint) then you may be out of luck. A new report says that “the Pre is Sprint’s exclusively for 2009.” The Palm Pre will be the first phone to feature the new WebOS platform. But, it’s only the first of many other multi-tasking phones that will be available running this OS, so no need to panic. Unless you really like the Pre and i think it’s going to be a great device.

Philips will be releasing two PMPs that will be released in Europe this April. As of right now, there is no release date scheduled for North America, but i’ll give you the rundown of these 2 PMPs anyway. The smaller 2-inch PMP is the GoGear Ariaz. It will have your choice of 4GB, 8GB or 16GB of memory, has FM radio, a built-in mic and has a combination of touchscreen buttons and the “large rocker key” for your navigating. The updated 2.8-inch display version is called the GoGear Opus. It will have Bluetooth and your choice of 8GB, 16GB or 32GB of memory. The prices of these PMPs will range from the $100 – $230 USD (€79 - €179) price range.

The Google OS looks like it’s finally here. It opened up with Android running on the Google phone, the T-Mobile G1. Android began to expand to more phones and is continuing its growth. Asus is now working on a new netbook running Android, the Google OS, which is interesting. Because of the fact that Windows XP is running on 80-90% of all netbooks, this would make Google a strong competitor for Microsoft’s Windows. If all things go according to plan, Android will continue to gain popularity and will expand to notebooks and PCs. Believe it folks, the Google OS is here. Asus have mentioned that they plan on releasing the Android-based netbook by the end of the year. It is said to already be in development.

Up The Irons!

Lectura…..OK

GoGear -> PC …..OK

PC -> GoGear…..

il prezzo competitivo;
