Вряд ли нужно долго описывать КК”Золотые пески“. Этот современный курорт, сочетавший 50летнюю традицию и историю с современными тенденциями – небезизвестен в России. Он расположен в 18км от г.Варны среди природного парка Золотые пески, объявленного в 1943 году защищенной зоной. Расположение у моря, мягкий климат /зима мягкая, а лето не так жаркое из-за прохладного морского ветерка – бриз/ отличают его от других национальных парков. Здес пахнет и морем, и лесом, что действует укрепляюще на здоровье. Среди лиственных /с хвойными/ лесов разброшены гостиницы. Из-под тени, иногда вековых деревьев, сквозь зелень и пестроту цветов Вы сможете наслаждаться лазурным морем. А журчание фонтанов успокаивает и заряжает энергией.

In Sinquerim Beach one can enjoy parasailing, fishing, scuba diving, water skiing and windsurfing.

Rednev has broken the news that Southport Brewery’s Golden Sands – my favourite beer – has won the Gold in the Best Bitter category at CAMRA’s Great British Beer Festival in Earls Court, London.

Actually, technically it´s not a baldy dot wordpress dot com, but that doesn´t sound quite so snappy. What on earth am I talking about?

Well, you know when you´re sitting around having one of the late night drunken conversations, and you come up with an amazing idea for a blog, and it´s going to be the biggest thing to hit the interweb since Vernon Koekemoer, and  you wake up the next morning and you´ve forgotten your idea or, more likely, you remember it and realise it´s kak or, even if it still seems supercool, you can´t be arsed to actually do it?

That happens to me all the time as well. But after we discovered the definitive cure for male pattern baldness while larking around in the Golden Sands laboratory last night, I realised it would be cruel not to share our knowledge with the rest of the world. Also, finally, I may just have hit on a concept that will bring me fame and fortune in the blogosphere. I mean, no one who isn´t my friend is ever really going to care about Trinny in Dubai. I still have high hopes for Mahendra´s ties, but until someone buys RK a television, or I move back home, it´s not gonna happen.

Travel in Eastern Europe is somewhat dicey, although the situation is much improved from my trip to Serbia in 2004.

Bulgaria, a country with a historical and cultural heritage, and attractive natural landscapes, is now slowly becoming one of the most visited tourist destinations in Europe. Tourism, as an industry, has been an important source of economic growth. In 2007 Bulgaria was visited by 5.2 million tourists, measured as outlined by the World Tourism Organization. Tourists from the top 3 countries – Greece, Romania and Germany, account for 40% of all visitors. In 2008 Bulgaria is estimated to welcome 6 million visitors. The country has historical cities and towns, summer beaches, and mountain ski resorts. New types of tourism, including cultural, architectural and historic tours, eco-tourism, and adventure tours, expand the range of services available to visitors.

Traditional tourism

Winter tourist centres, such as Borovetz, Bansko, Pamporovo and Vitosha are picturesque and popular ski resorts. The Bulgarian summer resorts along the Black Sea coast, include destinations, such as the summer resorts: Sozopol, Nessebur, Golden Sands, Sunny Beach, Sveti Vlas, Albena and St. St. Constantine & Helena. Some guests, such as the Germans, Russians or Scandinavians favour the summer beach resorts, while winter tourism, and the ski resorts, are the favorites of the British.

Emerging forms of tourism

Emerging types of tourist activities, such as “ethno-tourism” and “architectural-cultural” tourism, are increasingly gaining ground, catering to specialized tastes. These are new types of tours, which involve interaction with and living amongst the local people, in small mountain villages.

For the more adventurous, active recreation, involving mountain hiking and bike tourism, provides a close connection with nature. Climbers scale the granite mountains of Rila, Pirin and the Balkan. Cultural and historical tourism

Situated at the crossroads of the East and West, Bulgaria has been home to many civilizations Thracians, Romans, Byzantines, Slavs, Proto-Bulgarians, and Ottomans. Although Bulgaria is rich in historical artifacts, many of the museums and monasteries still need to be properly advertised and maintained, and some of the most interesting heritage sites may not be easily accessible, due to poor infrastructure. Yet, some visitors regard such “underdevelopment” as desirable – those who prefer to experience history first-hand rather than look at artefacts behind glass.

I´m clearly a little behind in making  my resolutions for 2009, or at least declaring them on line. (Good luck with the job hunt, Bean!) Not that I´ve ever been that big on resolutions anyway.

Last time I made a New Year´s resolution I had any intention of keeping was in 2004: “I shall not be in Port Alfred next New Year.” (For the record, this was no reflection on the generous hospitality of Dogflower, rather a realisation that there were summer holiday options other than the Eastern Cape). And where was I on December 31, 2004? Port Alfred of course, and it was a good one!

But I digress. And I shall continue to do so… Looking over this blog, I see I have had a couple of previous posts concerning resolutions. In February I came up with a new semester resolution of endeavouring to update my blog with greater regularity. Well, I didn´t survive the semester in Liechtestein, nevermind the resolution!

In July I made a couple of half-year´s resolutions, to wit: get my driver´s licence and get a job. Regarding the former, I did at least get my learner´s licence, which was a huge step forward… And I did get a job, and then I got another one. So that´s one-and-a-half out of two: not a bad score!

Back to the point of this post. I did consider some resolutions for this year. But, unlike Bec, I am only giving up smoking when I grow up at 30 (not all that far away, yikes!), and I am not about to sacrifice my last few months of coughing pleasure just so I can turn the whole ordeal into a New Year´s resolution.

Nim gave me This Diary Will Change Your Life 2009 for Christmas, which was hilariously unhelpful in suggestions for unique resolutions, for example: “Find the lost city of Atlantis” (not all that difficult in Dubai, come to think of it!), “Waste fewer words” (nah, that´s my day job), or “Find the Grail but keep quiet about it” (not my style).

On yet another tanget, TDWCYL2009 is the bossiest book I have ever come across. I´ve already failed my Week 1 Goal to “Make a New Year Resolution that no one in history has ever made before”. Week 2´s aim “Open a Home Restaurant” has also passed me by – I have to use all my resolve just to cook a decent meal now and then instead of being enticed by cheap and tasty Indian takeaways. We´re already in Week 3 and it seems I must now “Subvert Consumer Society from Within”. I´ll keep you posted on that one!

Okay, I´ll stop blathering on now. I´ve decided on one resolution for 2009, and a simple one at that: to be happy. Or perhaps not that simple – thom e yorke once said something about how it´s easy to be depressed; much braver and  more difficult to be happy (If anyone can find the original quote, please let me know!).

Which reminds me of something an Iranian friend said at my goodbye party in Liechtenstein: “Theresa, I think you´ve enjoyed your time here, but you have not been happy.” Puzzling over this apparent contradiction, I realised he was right. Being happy is both more, and less, than merely enjoying oneself. I´m pretty good at the latter, but have some work to do on the former…

For now though, I´m off to make myself a bite to eat before heading down for a pint or two at the local (yes, we do have those in Dubai!) with the Golden Sands gang.

Yes, I’m back, from an odd warm place known as Golden Sands resort, Bulgaria.
We stayed in Hotel Royal, and it truly was “the party hotel”, despite Thomas Cook refering to it as a family holiday, but I loved it!

…  is like a supplement for the oil of the car’s engine. Besides the great refreshing feeling it will boost your energy for the day. Even if is your own pool or you just go into a public place, you have to try this at least 2-3 times every week. In this period is not reccomended for the weekend because in almost every weekend we should  to the seaside. In Romania, my favourite place is Mamaia or how I call it East Europe’s Ibiza  and the trip takes 2 hours and a half by car when are not blockages due to the big number of cars. Additionally, also by car is very at hand to go in Bulgaria in Kavarna or Golden Sands. I attach for you the picture of Royal Cove’s pool, my favourite place in Kavarna. Dagen idag har gått til skole, shopping og soving, mohaha ;p
Kjøpte ikke så masse, bare litt sminke noe jeg trengte sårt. Også er det alltid morsomt å ha med mamma på shopping, for hun møter alltid personer å slår av en prat så da går jeg jo bare rundt å plukker i det jeg vil ha uten at hun merker det, også når hun skal betale stikker jeg ut eller noe. Hah, prisen ble 8-900 kr. Var ikke så veldig mye akkurat. (a)

Bestilte meg også Dolce & Gabbana øredobber, solbriller og smykke da jeg kom hjem, stipendet kommer jo inn imorgen så må unne meg noe. Selvom jeg må spare litt til jeg skal til molde neste helg og Slovenia i sommer. ;p

Det er noe jeg er veldig sint over for tiden, jeg hadde jo bestillt tur til Golden Sands, Bulgaria osv, også kjøpte mamma seg ny bil og tror du ikke den forrige eieren har løyet om bilen da? Så hun må paye sånn over 10 000 for å reparere skadene, så da ble det ikke bulgaria å fyllekule i 2 uker lell. Noe som jeg er veldig trist for. Men redningen var Portoroz, Slovenia da, samtidig blir det en dag eller no i Venezia, Italia. Kan jo ikke klage på det da. ^^ Gleder meg jeg! mihi.

Har ikke så mye å skrive, jeg gleder meg til neste lørdag. Moha. ;D
