Quality Golf Instruction Sets Up Great Season Every spring across America, millions of golfers hit the course after a long winter’s break. For these golfers, springtime is a joyous occasion, as it marks the return to fun days spent on the luscious greens of their favorite course, but it can also be a frustrating occasion, as the impact of taking several months off of the sport is readily apparent. After such a break, many golfers seek out quality Golf Instruction to get their game off to a good start. After all, with summer only lasting a few short months, no one wants to waste time just returning to last year’s performance level.

Instruction is a great way to ensure that the game continues to improve, year after year. One area that is crucial to the game of golf is mental strategy. Compared to other sports, golf is much more of a “head game,” and having a proper mental perspective is paramount to getting a good score. Any good Golf Instruction course will include tips on visualization, letting go of bad performances, and other strategies to win the head game involved in golf. Students of the game can find tips from pros through magazines and websites, and of course, a private teacher should be able to instruct in this area.

Another important area of Golf Instruction is equipment. As technology emerges, and new products are released onto the golf market, every golfer is on a quest to find the perfect product for his or her game. Whether shoes, gloves, or the all important varieties of clubs, equipment comes in all shapes, sizes, and price ranges.

Having a bit of direction is extremely helpful when pulling one’s gear together for a great season. Online gear reviews can be great resources in this area. Blogs and other online forums are also useful in getting real feedback from real golfers. Magazine and online articles also abound about how to get a proper fit with equipment, taking into account body type, swing method, and all the other important factors that go into having great golfing equipment.

Finally, the actual game is another huge area of demand in Golf Instruction. This is the area where a private coach may be most helpful, but there are plenty of programs available to students who can’t afford, or for some other reason don’t want to enroll in, private lessons. One extremely helpful strategy for any golfer is to use video review to identify problem areas and chart improvement. This can be as simple as two buddies taking turns with a video camera, or can be as high-tech as the complicated systems employed by top golfing schools. In any case, the game will surely benefit from using it.

Trouble Golf Shots It is inevitable that a golfer, from novice to pro, will find themselves in the position where they are in need to make shots that are most difficult to make. These golf swing come in the form of sand traps, water hazards, deep rough and being behind objects.Obviously, being in the water is a most helpless situation as there is nothing you can do. You need to observe as closely as possible where your ball went into the water and go to that point at the edge of the water.

According to USGA rules, you go two club lengths from the edge of the water and then drop a new ball, assuming that your first ball is lost in the water. You must score an extra point for the penalty shot, and then go on from there. The ever dreaded worst golf swing is the sand trap. Someone wanted to make the game difficult when they made up most sand traps with the way the lips hang over the traps and the high ledges that exist out of the trap. They are down right nasty. A necessary part of every golf bag is a sand wedge, your saving grace. If the sand if firm you stand a little better chance, but if it is loose sand, your golf swing must be very cautious and calculated. As you address your ball, your left foot should be above and slightly in front of the ball. You should not plan on actually hitting the ball itself, but hitting the sand about two inches behind the ball, digging into the sand, allowing the club to lift the ball up and out of the trap. This is not an easy task and will take much practice

A similar shot is needed when you are hitting out of the rough, or over weeds or some other object that is obstructing your ball. You need to “open up your club face” which means you turn your club a little more to the right in your hand. This grip also needs to be practiced because the natural instinct is to want to turn the club back to a natural hold on the down golf swing. Force your club to keep that face open, and when you go with your golf swing, try to slide your club under the golf ball. If you are new to the game, your goal should not be to make a long drive, but to just place it back on the fairway, where then you can get back to a normal game.
