On July 15th, Glenn Beck’s radio program had a caller, Cathy, from Massachusetts.  She caused the host to have what some believed to be an emotional aneurysm.  At least that’s what it sounded like to those untrained liberal ears hearing it replayed over and over again for the rest of the week by Keith OgreMan, Rachel Maddow, CNN, Media Matters’ propaganda website against all things conservative, etc.  Those of us who are avid listeners understood it as a joke played on what should be actual outrage at a woman who clearly needed a good tongue lashing! 

Everyone knows Glenn Beck cries when his patriotic heart strings are plucked.  Not everyone knows he screams, regularly, as homage to an ABC radio newscaster he met earlier in his career.

The biggest  joy in listening to Beck is hearing him react to the news, biased callers, and politicans how most of us would like to in real life.  Can you imagine the incredible release felt after screaming at the top of your lungs when faced with lies, political rhetoric, and pure ignorance?  Being a Top 40 disc jockey for most of his career, Beck’s used to planning comedy bits, outlandish interviews, and on-air shock antics.  We live vicariously through his open tantrums.  Well, I do anyways. 

In Beck’s early NYC radio days, WABC’s conservative news personality Bob Grant had a way with irritating callers.  He’d yell “Get off my phone, you sick freak!” after being faced with someone he found to be less intelligent than he. Beck and his producer, ‘Stu’, began mimicking him privately.  When he transitioned into talk radio years later, the private joke followed the two on the air.  Although Beck believes in trying to convert the liberal-lost rather than cut their point off or hang up on them, when he suspects a planted caller (one that gets through the call-screeners to intentionally spew propaganda) the Bob Grant in him comes out.  The term used by Beck and producer Stu is “GOMP” = to DUMP a caller GRANT-style.

Before listening to the radio bit below, here are some facts you should know:

A) No conservative pundit has voiced anger and opposition more with every bail-out during both Bush’s terms and Obama’s present problems than BECK!  If you’ve watched his new program on FNC, then you’re aware of his “9-12 Project”.  It’s meant to stir the patriot in us from Sept. 12, 2001, by keeping our politicians accountable for their congressional voting on bills that go against everything we stood for that day.

B) He has suffered from A.D.H.D., migraine headaches, and back problems for years

C) He has a teenage daughter, Mary, with cerebral palsy

D) He did not enter the realm of a six-figure income until after his first TV show debuted on CNN in 2006.  He shares regularly on his show how his professional goal was to earn enough to become an excellent employer to others, and uses his employees’ excellent health insurance as an argument against nationalized health care.

E) He is repeatedly referred to as “The hardest working man in the industry”. He is teased regularly by fellow pundits Hannity, O’Reilly, Marc Davis, and others for his multi-date comedy tours while maintaining his tv and radio programs as he writes books in between.  He earns every penny so he can turn around and share it with others. Beck is a staunch critic of Obama’s plans for redistribution of wealth because Obama only contributes 6% of his multi-million dollar income annually to charities, while Beck gives more than 20% of his income annually, and has researched how most ”evil rich conservatives” do the same, such as George W. Bush. 

When liberals claim the right misrepresents the left, it just crawls under our skin, because the reverse is true.  Scream Glenn! Scream your alleged cry-baby heart out!!

On Glenn Beck’s Nov. 6 radio program he talked to a guy who said he will not recognize Barack Obama as the American President. 

Glenn GOMP’s ‘un-American’ caller

GLENN: 888-727-BECK, 888-727-BECK. Let’s go to Georgia and Joe. Hello, Joe, you’re on the Glenn Beck program.

CALLER: Hi, Glenn.

GLENN: How are you, Joe?

CALLER: Well, actually I’m not doing real well.

GLENN: Huh.

CALLER: And you are one of the reasons why I’m not doing real well this morning.

GLENN: What a surprise. That’s why you are on the board first. We wanted to take your phone call. Go ahead.

CALLER: You are sending some real mixed signals and I’m kind of wondering — listen, I’ve been listening to you for weeks now.

GLENN: For weeks.

CALLER: And I’ve been listening to you tear down Barack Obama and vent him and state all the reasons why we should not vote for him.

GLENN: Yes.

CALLER: Now you are saying that we need to make nice and accept him as our President.

GLENN: Yes.

CALLER: Until he does something wrong.

GLENN: Until what?

CALLER: Until he does something wrong, so to speak, or gives us a good reason, you know, not to stand behind him.

GLENN: Yes.

CALLER: I’m on the other side. He is not my President and I will not accept him as my President until he proves to me that the platform and all the issues and stuff that he has stated so far that he will not do those things.

GLENN: Well, how very un-American of you, Joe. Congratulations.

Glenn goes on to ask Joe about how the election process goes, and tries his damndest to get Joe to call Barack the future American President.

GLENN: Well, Joe, then you’re un-American because this is the way our system works, and this is — you are exactly the kind of person that caused so much trouble with George W. Bush. When the Supreme Court decided the way our system works, when the Supreme Court decided you count the way you are supposed to count the votes, you guys set this up, the Democrats were the ones who set it up. So you’ve got to play by those rules. When they counted the votes the way they were supposed to be counted and even when they counted them the way that they were trying to get them to count, you know, and change the rules, George Bush still won, they still said, “Well, he’s not my President; he was selected, not elected. No, the facts are he was elected the President of the United States through the Supreme Court and then the New York Times — that crazy — I mean, it might as well be reading the National Review. That crazy newspaper went back and counted them again and Al Gore still lost. And yet people said he’s not my President. Well, that was the problem. And Joe, you are now the person that you most likely railed against in 2000. Barack Obama won. He is now our President. We do not sacrifice our values. We are not required to now become a socialist. We’re now not required to stand up and fight for the things that he believes in if we disagree, but we understand that he is the President of the United States.

So are you going to be a new kind of American that continues to separate us and continue to pull us apart?

I forsaw this kind of thing happening, Nov. 4.  But Glenn’s right, we need to accept it.  And stop whining like Democrats.

The guy goes on to talk about the birth certificate thing.  Glenn’s response;

GLENN: The birth certificate, Joe, went through the court system! It was rejected! Now let’s move off the hearsay. Would we also like to talk to all the people that say the United States and George Bush killed all the people in the levees, that he was planning to blow up the levees? Let’s move off the conspiracy theories! Let’s talk about the facts, and the facts are, Joe, that he is the American President and anyone who doesn’t accept him as the President of the United States is pure and simple un-American. That does not mean that you accept everything he does. That does not mean that you sell out your values. That doesn’t mean that you don’t fight for the Constitution and fight for what you believe in, but he is the President of the United States and if you believe in this system, then you are required, you are required to accept him as the President of the United States, period, and you support him in every way possible because we — a house divided will not stand.

Look, we made good cases. We made the best case we could. The American people did not buy it. Great. We made the best case we could against Barack Obama but what we did wrong is we didn’t make a good case because we didn’t have a good candidate to make the case for what we are, to make the case for the conservative party, to make the case that we are free men, that we do not want to be — have the shackles of government. Well, let’s start making that case. That’s the case that needs to be made, and nobody has made it! Let’s make the case for who we are and for our Constitution and for freedom and for the rule of law.

Let me go to Stan. Hello, Stan, you’re on the Glenn Beck program.

CALLER: I can’t believe you are trying to — I can’t believe you are trying to accept this man as our President. This man has a forged driver’s license. He had a real estate license that’s in question, and I believe most of his vaccinations are false!

The best thing for this country is that we need to make legit claims against Barack.  If too many people cry wolf when there is no wolf, then we won’t be beleived when the real wolf comes along.
