Since the Create a Critter 2 cartridge had two designs for St. Patrick’s Day, I decided to create both.  You need the following tools and supplies to create this card:

• Cricut machine
• Cricut Create a Critter 2 cartridge
• Cuttlebug machine
• Cuttlebug embossing folder
• cardstock
• adhesive

Fold the jade cardstock so it is a finished size of 4.25″x5.5″ and cut the gold cardstock to 5.25″x 4″.  Cut all of the pieces for the worm at 3.5″.  Adhere all of the layers of the worm together.  Cut the Good Luck at 1.5″.  Run the gold cardstock through the Cuttlebug machine to emboss.  Adhere the turtle and Good Luck to the embossed cardstock.

Now, you have to decide which is cuter?  The turtle or the worm?  I hope my nieces and nephews love them both!

Last year, whilst scouring the charity shops, I came across a brand new and still sealed Royal Horticultural Society jigsaw of vintage seed packets. The jigsaw was priced at 50 pence so I bought it. I had in my mind very early on that I would make cards out of it as each picture section is just the right size for the size of cards I love to make, and it is such an original idea. I like to make 3-D cards which have a bit of  substance and stand out from the page, and using a section of the jigsaw does just that.

This card is approximately 20cm” square and after mounting the jigsaw piece on cream and green gingham card which have both been distressed around the edges with Tim Holtz “walnut stain” Distress Ink, I embellished the top edge with a selection of Docraft christmas paper flowers from their “Back to Basics Christmas” range (Vintage) which are gorgeous muted shades of green, claret, dusky pink and beige. You can also enhance the flowers with matching brads and/or use a selection of buttons in contrasting shades.

สำหรับครั้งนี้แฟนๆ สามารถเขียนคำอวยพรที่นี้ได้เลยนะ จะได้ย้อนกลับมาอ่านเมื่อคิดถึงได้ สำหรับข้อความอวยพรที่ฝากไว้ก่อนวันที่ 31 สิงหาคม 2555 ก็จะถูกคัดลงการ์ดเพื่อส่งให้กับวิน งานนี้แฟนๆ ไม่ว่าจะอยู่ใกล้อยู่ไกลก็ร่วมกิจกรรมกันได้นะ ส่วนแฟนๆ ที่ต้องการเขียนการ์ดอวยพรส่งตรงถึงธาวิน สามารถส่งได้เลยตามที่อยู่ที่แปะไว้ให้ได้เลยนะคะ คำนวณวันเวลาในกากรจัดส่งล่วงหน้าด้วยนะคะ

I took the liberty of flipping the sketch. I also moved the placement of the bling onto my butterflies instead, I just couldn’t get them looking balanced following the sketch position!

I am still working on the pile of pink scraps on my desk, they just seem to be never ending, I dont even know how I ended up with so many pink papers. Or so many scraps for that matter when I am really trying to get rid of them!! I had to make the Good Luck sentiment myself. I need a good luck stamp and cant seem to find one anywhere. Anyone got any suggestions??

Spot the four leaf clover!

For a friend who’s doing exams — inside there is the reminder that she, however, has had the benefit of the teaching at our university and so she’ll be grand.  Read this in whatever tone of voice you feel appropriate.

I must say I don’t much like this card, though.  I’m not a bit happy about making things without having the right tools to hand.  At home in Dublin I’d have access to my makeshift lightbox and this card would be a complete doddle, but over here I don’t have hardly any of my bits of kit — not that my kit is at all sophisticated or expensive, but it has been built up over x number of years; I certainly have everything I need at home, but not in London.  After messing about trying to trace my preliminary sketch at the window I despaired and did it freehand, with the result that there’s a manky great gap between the two paragraphs of the quote and then no spacing between the quote and the attribution.  Not at all satisfactory.  That said, for freehand I think the actual lettering isn’t too bad, and it’s pretty well spaced horizontally, if not vertically.
